Football / Re: Leo BeenHakker Interview LIVE NOW on Power 105fm

This is a very interesting discussion. If I was a coach I would choose Latapy over Nakhid any day because it is easier to replace a defensive midfielder than a creative midfielder.
For example Makele or Zidane.......Emerson or Ronaldinho. A French coach and Brazilian coach will easily select Zidane and Ronaldinho..that is a no brainer although Makele and Emerson are good players.
It is difficult to compare a defensive midfielder and an offensive midfielder..as someone said that is comparing apples to oranges. However if I was Parreira I will select Ronaldinho and find one someone else to replace Emerson. Do you think it easier to replace Ronaldinho or Emerson? Do you think it easier to replace Zidane or Makele? Do you think it easier to replace Latapy or Nakhid?

not to say Nakhid wasn't a creative midfileder too.  We laugh at the Americans when they start to count 'assists", but I think this would highlight Nakhid's greatest strength.  Correct me if I wrong too, but it seemed to me to appear as though, the defence Nakhid was playing in front of was more shaky than the one Latapy was playing in front of (in their primes), so yuh find Nakhid had to play that kind of role more.

and I disagree with the automatic pick for the more attacking midfielder, cuz if we have a side and is four ah we on this forum in defence, with a midfield of Zidane, baggio, latapy, and we lookin for a 4th...b/c we defence shaky yuh ent feel we go go for a defensive?

dcs, I agree fully.  I think in this present set up we have enough good strikers, so we doh need another offensive threat at the expense of defensive liability...what we really want is a man who could deliver enough ball to stern that  if he throw way 5 he hatta at least score 1; a man to run the plays through and make use of the wingers (well at least carlos), but keep up the defensive duties like we doing now - that bill sound more like a Nakhid than a Latapy to me.

thank yuh FF...for a while I thought it was who have the biggest mouth woulda win the argument as usual. In my opinion - when it came down to having absolute control of the midfield and then puttin down a pin-point accurate pass Nakhid was it...but I was jus provoking argument, cuz them two players play with 2 different supporting casts...with about the same result....but I ent see the night and day contrast that andre and palos want to make it out to be like.
palos - who is the man who replace Nakhid (since you infer he born already)?
but is jus my humble opinion...like this one

I personally have no idea what theobald and whitley doing on that team eh….other than it don't have suitable replacements for them…well it look like spann go fil in for one of them, we need somebody else to replace the other one.
Midfield - edwards, birchall, spann, ?.

AND WHO MOST LIKELY TO SCORE FOR WE AGAINST US? DO A POLL AND YOU WILL SEE STERN IS #1.

it was a really good match...Panama should have put away their chances.  Panama launch all sorts of attacks on the Americans.  To be fair, the Americans had a fair share of opportunities too...this match have me wondering if that is the same Panama we beat 2-0.  How many new players do they have? they have a new coach or something?  what happened? The journey looks harder for team t&t now, but as an older head in the forum pointed out to me - one or two results, or one tournament doesn't signify total change.

the first step to recovery is admitting to having a problem, and I like the interview he gave a few days back where he acknowledged that he not in form, and not fit, and layed out his plan to become fit.
all the best stern!!!

lemme also reiterate that is jus opinions stated here....like I feel we go hit US 1-0 in Aug, but when I tell yankees dat they laugh...but I sure men here agree with me

hence the concept of time too eh...when we say at this moment, everybody drop allyuh bags and we havin' a round robin.  At this time, I believe, Mexico will be in the top 5 of that of that supposed round robin - a  Gedanken experiment as Einstein would say (without getting into the light cone and time dilation).

3101
I have a feelin' that them days of Mexico losing to the US in important games done!! Right now Mexico running like a top 5 team, no question.  Problem is Mexico have absolutely no respect for Concacaf teams, and as such will always be liable to a loss....but if you is a gambling man, bet yuh money on mexico for the gold cup.

So you put Mexico losing more often than not in the past 10 years to the hated gringos as a lack of respect? You got to be kiddin. If is 1 team Mexico HATE losing to more than any other is USA. It eh no lack of respect there and if you have watched the games in the past, is not like Mexico was unlucky to lose most a dem games. They were OUTPLAYED! Case in point....WC 2002. How soon allyuh forget.

Mexico playing well right now. But they are far from this "superpower" as some of you making them out to be. I will not be surprised should they lose to US, Costa Rica and T&T in those countries in this WC qualifying campaign.

Matter of fact, while T&T and to a lesser extent Costa Rica will be underdogs against Mexico in games played in T&T and CR, USA will be favourites to beat Mexico in USA and rightfully so in my opinion.
I hear yuh...but what I sayin is a new day for Mexico football.  US go get 3 in the US...Mexico about to separate themselves from the rest of concacaf standards.

I know real men on the forum will disagree, but check that last Mexico match - that first goal Atiba shoulda clear the cross - he mistime he header, and check the 21st min. he head he clearance to a MExican in the box.  He had a worse game than Jack in my opinion.

If I'm not mistaken, it was Carlos Edwards' failure tuh deal wit de cross dat led tuh de first goal. De mistimed header in de 21st minute, wasn't it Lawrence dat was responsible fuh dat?

Tallman yuh spot on here as usual... Charles had a very good game against Mexico

I agree , yuh on the ball tallman!!! Nah that was charles misheader in the 21st min of the 2nd half...2 plays after the goal.  And I now agree that charles had a good game regardless.  He entitled to he 1 mistake.
but airballs look like a team problem, and yuh know dem yankee love a cross.

WARRIORS hunt Miami 'GOLD'...based in Miami with Colombia, Honduras & Panama.
By: Ian Prescott (T&T Express).

Mc Farlane, for instance, scored the early goals in the campaign which got the Warriors to the points where they are now, but had not been seen since the 3-1 loss to Mexico in the second round in Port of Spain. That day, Mc Farlane was the better of the starting strikers, but ironically was substituted, while struggling Stern John was kept on and eventually scored. These days Mc Farlane is said to be playing in Iceland and seem to have been exiled.

I preachin' the virtues of MCFarlane for a long time now, and I jus want somebody to make some noise and get the man in the mix….allyuh seem to have done it with Silvio Spann.  I jus find the man ent really do nuttin wrong to deserve being drop…he do everything yuh could possibly ask of a forward…I ent blamin' nobody and trying to spread anything but love…but make some noise allyuh, let beenie man hear and get a chance to see him

But they must have a smartman trini who will be an entrepreneur and create a stayhome fete or something like that which will completely negate the intended action.

i hear a lot of people talking about the coaches in Trinidad and I personally feel that that is the next direction we will have to go into, if we is to make this climb to the world cup and stay there (like how costa rica stay there for the last few...or even like how the US reach and stay there).  I hear a lot of bad about Bertille, but I believe he was definitely one of the best coaches from trinidad at the time, and still...but I also believe there is another level above the level of Bertille and all the other coaches in T&T, that we coaches must learn about.  The higher Philosophy of the modern game.  MAybe after we qualify and the world cup come and gone, the next step is fuh Jack to bring down the top coaches every month from the top clubs in the world, to train we loacl coaches, so in the end the higher philosophy will spread throughout trinidad football.

« on: June 14, 2005, 11:55:02 AM »
Nobody saying nobody better than stern, but stern and yorke playing the same style and they kinda predictable up front.  What men really saying is that we need one of stern and yorke up front (group A) and another fella who does run at defenders with speed and dribbles and so forth (group B).  I personally think that at half time of every game we should change up the striking pair…change up the perspective…confuse the defenders.  WE have enough good enough strikers to choose from.
Bring back Errol MCFarlane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah hear yuh David but anbody who say dis right after we suffer a loss: "Cant say I'm suprised by the loss"......
Dem eh no supporter at all in my book. Ah true supporter is positive and will always look fuh de silver lining.

I used to think like this savanah...but to be a fool to yourself not helpin stern and yorke and dem play any better.  The fact is that Mexico playing teams like Argentina and Brazil and drawing and winning against them....doh even talk about they home record.  If Trinidad play a full strength Brazil tomorrow, you go expect we to lose?  or you go be foolin yourself?  we movin' up savannah, but not in a day (like rome).
personally I thank reggae fan, cuz if more people like he want to see we games, it go have a lower cost for we, and more likelyhood of gettin to see it.

stern find the exact same thing as youand quarrel with carlos for dat, but carlos knew that if he go down sideline and anybody lose the ball, mexico woulda get a good chance at goal.  daiz why it was supposed to be stern makin them runs...but he need to get fit (big up stern regardless!!!), what we need is a man who could run fast - somebody go and train darren brown to cross ball dey!
