« on: January 31, 2021, 08:33:21 PM »
ok. so who could we take from this exercise? For me:
Telfer could stay - basic player I'd put him in for a 1st half against the St Kitts Nevis-es of the world, or if you up and holding on to a lead. I think he puts in his effort for the full 90 so I only hope he improve (build some chemistry or something that will give him a better edge).  But if he's our #1 fwd we ent going a dam place this hex.
Muckette could hold down Hyland job. If we can't replace Hyland b/c of lack of depth then I would be fine giving Hyland a more defensive role and having Muckette more creative.
Woo Ling I would give a chance, keep in the mix. Nice touches and with more experience & opportunity can hopefully grow in the next couple years.
Alvin...b/c I've seen him play better -- men ent play competitive in a year, but I think he can do better.
For me the rest could stay home after this Puerto Rico/ Guyana round.
I don't want to see Foncette in goal again for T&T.

sorry, with the lack of quality in midfield, vs usa to boot, I would be surprised if we don't see a 5-4-1 (defense looking to me like our strongest area). I think we could pull off a respectable scoreline 2-0, 3-0 usa and the youths would have gotten a solid 90 mins vs the top of our region. win for everybody involved.

« on: December 24, 2020, 11:13:56 AM »
Some ppl keep being mystified by Cyrus and his selection, but if you see the player there ought to be no mystery about him being selected to the NT.

I am one of those people, so please demystify his continued selection.
I was also harsh on Cyrus when emotions we high and he keep muckin' up, but I remember 'Seeker and a couple other's comments when I re-watch this match recently - that coaches keep picking him for a reason.
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/v/aln_y3LUXVY" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="bbc_link bbc_flash_disabled new_win">https://www.youtube.com/v/aln_y3LUXVY</a>
He remind me of Dennis Lawrence so much - a huge f**k up (in my opinion) and inconsistent character until Beenhaker straighten him out in his twilight years. Maybe lightning will strike twice and the right coach will put him in the right place.
But to me his control and speed with the ball here (at least in this over 5 yr old video)  *for a tall fella* isn't too bad.
Of course everything in context with what other options we have if any.

I think the logic in the argument lil upside down. Fact 1) Children can't drive themselves around so currently parents tell them to stay home and they are home. Fact 2) Children infection rate is lower than adults.
(seems at least partly causal to me).
Suggestion by RG: Let the children come out b/c they 'not getting covid" at high rates ???
Parallel suggestion: line up the kids on a wall and only shoot one in 100 of them.

I think RG's opinion will change if (God forbid) he personally knew somebody who died (or even was hospitalized for) covid.

By summer i think most kids would be vaccinated and life should 'return to normal'.

Commissioner misses out as Griffith III features for Northern Ireland team, Coleraine.
By Lasana Liburd (Wired868).

Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith had to make do with a second-hand appraisal of his son Gary Griffith III’s first step towards his dream of a professional football career yesterday.

Griffith III, an attacker, featured as a trialist with Northern Ireland top flight club, Coleraine FC, last night along with compatriot and defender Jesse Williams. There was no review of how either played and they were not named in a brief match summary—although there was an independent photograph of the commissioner’s son.

Griffith had his application for vacation leave turned down by Minister of National Security Stuart Young, earlier this week, as he is expected to oversee an investigation into issues related to a TTPS raid on the controversial DSS financial enterprise in La Horquetta.

“I was planning to use my few weeks abroad to accompany him,” Griffith told Wired868. “They would be at Ipswich Town and Bury FC next week to then return to Coleraine FC. However duty calls.

“Hopefully when certain issues are dealt with at home, I may be able to drink a real Guinness and find my pot of gold in Ireland.”

Coleraine FC competed in the Europa League this season. Griffith confirmed that his son and Williams head to England next week for a brief stint with Ipswich Town and Bury FC too.

Ipswich, who play in England’s third tier at present, once employed Trinidad and Tobago international forward Jason Scotland. There is a ‘Trini’ link at Bury too, as the semi-professional team has another 2006 World Cup player, Carlos Edwards, on its books as a player-coach.

Griffith III, 17, and Williams, 18, have both represented Trinidad and Tobago at national youth level. However, while Williams is a stand-out at Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) level with St Anthony’s College and for Pro League outfit Central FC, the former is an unknown quantity locally.

Griffith III never turned out for St Mary’s College or Trinity College (Moka) in the SSFL Premier Division, although he did manage several appearances for North East Stars in the Pro League.

If he features in a competitive fixture this year, Griffith III will eclipse Levi Garcia as the youngest Trinidad and Tobago player to take part in a European top flight match.

Garcia, who now represents AEK Athens in Greece, was 18 years and two months old when he debuted for Eredivisie club, AZ, in a 4-2 home win over Feyenoord. A week later, Garcia became T&T’s youngest scorer in Europe when he came off the bench to score in AZ’s 3-0 win over NEC at the Goffertstadion in Nijmegen.

In both cases, Garcia erased records set by legendary Tobagonian Dwight Yorke at Aston Villa.

Griffith III, who is in England on a football scholarship with Sunderland College, turns 18 on 22 October. However, since he is in Britain on a student visa, he can play before his birthday—if he makes the grade.

Griffith and Williams were both members of the Men’s National Senior Team training squad under head coach Terry Fenwick, before their sessions were halted due to Covid-19 restrictions.

It stood out to me how 'nashy' this youth was in video of the recent National team training sessions that I saw. And this have me even more concerned. Anybody here could fill me in, if they ever see this youth play, if he any good and was deserving of being a) on any previous youth national team? b) this present national team? or is this just blatant nepotism at work?

Scrap and take what you could get 'Tulla. You are definitely a crowd favorite. Tell your agent and you yourself think outside the box. What on par with (or just slightly higher than) USL in Central & South America? (lower divisions). You could leverage American name recognition for a shot in quite a few places. Please don't settle for the India or ProLeague route. Make use of the last few productive years of your career. Still room to grow.

England football and the national team are a real enigma. Yes, the have the top league in the world and probably right now, Liverpool as the best team in the world.

I real waste my time watching Champions' League this year bai. And last world cup I guess England had the best team too? or was it Argentina?  (nevermind not making semis).

I like Wallace Action here. (Just the position I thought he was setting up all along). If he is true this will turn out fine and a real moral boost for T&T football. Pride on the field. Dey must be paying Hadad good money to take on all this extra writing...or DJW and them musbe have some dirt on him.

Football / Re: Khaleem Hyland Thread

Hyland tells Wallace: Look at the bigger picture.
By Walter Alibey (Guardian).

National football captain Khaleem Hyland has called on T&T Football Association president William Wallace to look at the bigger picture in his team's fight against the sport governing body FIFA to overturn its decision to appoint a Normalisation Committee and allow them (United TTFA) govern the country's football.

Hyland, speaking on the Andre Baptiste I.95.5 Programme on Saturday said he understands Wallace's fight for what he believes is right, but said at the end of the day there is need to look at the bigger picture, as their actions will not only affect them but an entire nation with younger ones, which will represent the future.

“The kids' dream is something that, we all have kids and we want them to live up to their dreams just as we did. I am a player now and coming down to age, it's a dream for me to go to a senior World Cup. I hope and pray that everything that's going on will resolve in the best way for the players, and I hope that the sanctions that FIFA wants to hand down will not happen.”

Hyland is set to lead a T&T team into the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers in October, where a more than manageable win in a group that comprises Guyana, St Kitts/Nevis, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas awaits them.

Hyland who plays professionally for in Saudi Arabia for Al-Faisaly, as a midfielder, said international football is an opportunity for many young footballers to receive caps to further their careers abroad and the sanctions can prevent that.

The quote attributed to Hyland in the headline and the quote within the body of the article aren't exactly the same. Anybody listened to the program and could tell if those were Hyland's words? or from the context of what Hyland was saying was implying that Wallace etc should just back down (for the sake of players)? or was his suggestion more in line with what Look Loy is saying - It's a long game and the CURRENT score is 1-0 ...Fifa have the ball to kick off the 2nd half? (which i interpret to mean the case was about building leverage to negotiate a bigger position).

Football / Re: Jadon Sancho ONE TO WATCH
« on: August 25, 2020, 06:12:24 AM »
His name is creating quite the buzz these days and can be the biggest transfer this summer if it can be pulled off.
Not like this will ever happen but how exactly can he be eligible to represent T&T? Father? Mother? Both?
Also does he have any other siblings in football?

Both his parents Trini, and he capped for England so no hope for us sadly.

There is no proof of that. His father who has Guyanese roots was born in the UK. His mother is reportedly Jamaican.
TM you might be right, watch from the 3:20 min mark.

So his comment round 4:20 about Jolof rice mean he Nigerian too?

74
I think Wallace could put fwd what his objections to the CAS were and see if Fifa now willing to meet him most of the way on that  end. Fix the system for everybody (more likely to garner sympathetic votes from smaller nations when is time to vote for a ban).

General Discussion / Re: How yuh voting?
« on: August 09, 2020, 01:21:15 PM »
Was passin ole talk with my cousin the otherday (he livin in the US too) and the topic of voting in this election came up. Especially this particular COVID election, where people can't go home to vote even if they wanted to, but an even more general question on mail-in ballots to...like the embassy or something. We have any of that in place in T&T?
I did a quick search and it seem like the list of "special electors" like offshore oil rig workers, don't really include people living in foreign. The language too about Polling stations and even Caricom Nationals getting to vote once they could prove they "reside" at an address...I guess they concerned about a bunch of foreigners say they living in a swing district like Tunapuna... Anybody on the forum in the know?

"We intended to pay off the outstanding debt to the players with the government subvention and move forward."

Sancho said their debt escalated following their successes in the 2014–15, 2015–16, 2016–17 where tons of monies were spent on the domestic competitions, and to compete in the CFU and CONCACAF clubs tournaments. The club is also owed well over a million dollars in earnings from the pro league, which Sancho said, was used by the league to assist other clubs financially.
"

Stopped at 5:48. Maybe someone can answer some questions please
1,2,3,4. Did Central ever receive their prize money from league for the 3 years in question ? Are they the only club to not recieve prize money ? Were'nt they the only club that didn't receive government assistance in a couple years ?
If yes, why wasn't player paid with such? If no, how can they pay their players ? How do other clubs manage payment without prize money or government subvention ?
5,6. Did the league sponsor the club to represent the various intl competitions as a representative of the league and T&T football ?
If yes, then what expenditures is Sanch referring to, that did not affect the other clubs domestically, If no, then where would money come from to travel to competitions as representatives and pay players ?
7,8,9. why can't players be paid with this current government subvention that TTFA has - with proper proof of course, what is it for then ? Is Pro League now under the control of the TTFA or not ? why isn't the Pro League managing it's financial affairs itself, is the TTFA their accountants ?

man, it's hard for me to keep up. maybe i keep only listening to part of the conversations...will try to listen more

Seem like Sheldon thinking about a run for presidency, or campaigning to be on the team of somebody who running. If that is so, I want to request that Tallman / Flex organize an interview like you all used to do.
2 questions to start with is a) The incident with the man with the bag of money in Movie Towne parking lot (if that was before he got fired).. tell us about that [As he mention transparency a few times]. b) Tell me about what he said about paying how much they pay for a stupid website -- nepotism/ corruption; what did he say to his boss at that point in time?

Other than that I think Sheldon would be a decent candidate.

sorry. I was willing to stick with him up to this point. (even, reluctantly, into a new administration if we lucky enough to get one in November--especially considering budget issues). Is okay to get 6. That in itself is no scene. Look even the mighty Brazil on the biggest stage get humiliated, which didn't mean that overnight everybody & coach turned sh!thounds. But that response took no ownership of the tactical shortcomings that has been obvious for a while now - with a big spotlight to exaggerate now. Just poor. He push me off the edge dey.
