U-23s reflect on California experience.
By: Shaun Fuentes (TTFF).

Trinidad and Tobago Under 23 team midfielder Kevin Molino has urged his teammates to do additional work after regular training in order to allow this country to compete better on the international stage.

The Orlando City player was speaking during a post comment session at the Marriot Torrance, California following T&T’s 2-0 defeat to Honduras at the Home Depot Center during the  CONCACAF final round of Olympic qualifiers last week.

T&T head coach Angus Eve allowed the players to express their views following the loss which saw T&T exit the tournament with one point behind semi-finalists Mexico and Honduras as well as Panama.

Technical Director Anton Corneal, Eve, skipper Sheldon Bateau, defender Daneil Cyrus, debutant Columbus Crew midfielder Kevan George, defender Kareem Moses and Trevin Caesar were also among those who shared their feelings on T&T’s showing in California.

“I think it’s a situation where we need to do some extras,” Molino told TTFF Media shortly after relaying the same advice to his teammates.

We showed at times that we are capable of playing good football but it’s not enough. We have to do extras in training and after training sessions especially with our clubs. Things like cross balls and shooting and so on we need to improve on. That’s the only way we can give ourselves a fair chance of beating these teams.

“At times we were too scared to get into the box and take shots at goals and that’s because of a lack of confidence but if we can work on simple things and be sure in our ability then we can definitely finish stronger in these matches,” said Molino.

This is exactly what I was saying after the Honduras game.

Latapy and Yorke use to stay back after games and practice by themselves, that is what made them better.

It's obvious that the players today do not do that. They can't do the simple things when under pressure and that is because they aren't putting in any extra time. Is like taking ah exam when yuh ent study enough, when the exam come yuh so scared you can't do the simple stuff.

And that goes for the local coaches, they obviously not studying dey craft and putting in the extra work.  We players always chasing the game because they not prepared properly.

The police on the phone told the killer to not follow the kid. He decided to follow Trayvon, if anyone had the defense of stand your ground it would have been Trayvon, he was followed, confronted, and would have had every right to defend himself.
You follow someone, shoot them, walk away with hardly a scratch, and still walking free.
Somebody in Florida need to find him, follow him and....

Jamal Gay should never start for T&T, it's pointless. We do not have the players to put in the type of crosses for him to use his height and to have one player up front. He is also too immobile.
We have to work our way into the final 3rd.

Bottom line we need a new coach. Someone who is capable to have these players moving all the time, making spaces and moving into spaces all game, all the time. That is what Mexico does all game. They always giving the player with the ball about 5 different passes he could make at any one time.
Our players wait to see what the fella with the ball would do instead of giving him different options

Allyuh have a right to complain, but allyuh laying blame on the wrong ppl.

right now, the only ppl to blame is the local football community for allowing ah self serving bunch of old men run their football (in the ground) for soooo long, we deserve every thing we got over the past twenty yrs and more!!
those yutes try their damnest, it's just that they weren't good enough. they didn't have the basic pedigree needed to compete with these teams. these yutes never learn football in ah proper environment. these bredders learn football on the street, in the school yard, and then unto the school team.

on the other hand , these foreigners we compete against, learned their craft in an environment conducive for football. they started @ a youth level in a football club academy where they learned the basics properly. then they moved on to the club youth level where played against other club footballers, they then join the club as a pro or get cut if they're not good enough.

in trini, the players who represent us on the youth to senior level comes through the SSFL. in that setting they learn football part time and seasonal, after the season is over, is back to the books until next year. comon guys, how will that work against fellas who playing ball 365 days ah yr?

it cyar fackin work!! and how come none of these monkeys in trinidad never pips that? this is real elementary sh!t folks, yet they can't even implement it. madness in it's highest order!!!!!!   :frustrated:   :banginghead:

is yrs now i watching the same ole brand, man cyar stay on their feet tuh save their life, fellas can't shield, dribble, pass or screen a ball, all these things are basics, and our boys don't know how to do it! right now, we need tuh stop using players from the SSFL, bc it's a bad product, we need academies real real fackin bad.

i'm really surprised @ all the talent weve had over the yrs, but it's going to waste bc we lack ah proper youth system, and a competitive league, and it showed in this whole tournament.

if i was skeene and romany i would be totally ashamed, bc these boys are products of their league, and it implied that the level of our league is real fackin low, and it needs tuh raise ASAP.  :yellowcard:

it's donkey yrs now they suffering the ppl of T&T with this garbage football, from ever since i could remember, all the way back to the seventies and eighties, and no one figured out how to make T&T football better ? it's almost like watching lab animals make the same mistakes over and over again without learning. it's mind blowing as to how clueless these ppl truly are!! :frustrated:

we are not a football nation, and we should never fool ourselves into thinking that, we started as a raising football nation , but somewhere along the line we losed focus, that we did. and until "someone" or an influential concerned group of ppl come along and take matters in their own hands to change this (which i seriously doubt), we will remain a non footballing nation taking licks from nations who serious about football.

it's no coincidence that we've been beating other caribbean nations for yrs, that's bc they were less prepared than us, with no league, no youth system and no interest to do better, they fell prey. but now all that's changing, these countries are becoming more and more interested in being football nations, so they are working towards that full speed ahead and gaining ground, hence the reason they are now competing well against us, i don't know why ppl are baffled ? it's not magic, it's logic. when ppl take things seriously, they become proficient, and then contenders, hence the reason we are now losing to guyana, grenada and bermuda.

like i said, right now we are not a footballing nation, so don't ever expect too much until we start taking football seriously.

for now, lets stick to what we know best, pecong, feting, carnival and whining down to the ground.  ;D

Dwight Yorke, Russel Latapy, Stern John, Shaka Hislop, and many more came through the same administration.

Just Cool is only so much blame you could put on an administration. At some point you have to man up and take blame for failure.

We all know what you get from the administration, many of the youths have been to two World Cups under the same retarded administration. No excuses for not doing the basics on the field.

They need Camps to go on the field and practice to trap, shoot, pass with them? No. They need to get out they skinny jeans and put in the hours.
After intercol games Latapy use to stay back and practice. Dwight put in extra hours on he own, playing on the beach.

They not training on their own, they not putting in enough hours. After yuh leave school, yuh have homework, school don't stop when you walk out the gates. Is no different with football. After the game done that is not it.

Fabregas say after Arsenal games they would go in the gym and train. Imagine that is after playing at lightening speed for 90 minutes.

67
So many calls and only 2 mins added time

The ref almost assist a Hon goal, I think overall he did not do a good job, I wonder if that goal was have counted?

Despite the lost, TT best performance, the team seems ok but they are not properly coached and needed better preparations as they grew with games.

Yep dey just run outta games, by game 10 they woulda eventually win

Imagine this was the big qualifying tournament we been looking forward to all this time

Molino is definitely the most composed player in this team he bout the only player up to the job. Ah find Gay have a lazy way about him.

The team is in a must win situation, they've been in that situation before. They'll be playing for a win and a win is expected.

Two men shot dead
Originally printed at http://www.trinidadexpress.com/news/Two_men_shot_dead-144124205.html

March 25, 2012

TWO middle-aged men were shot dead in separate incidents between Friday night and yesterday morning, bringing the murder toll for the year so far to 86.

The first victim was Prizgar Road, Laventille, resident Anthony Balfour, 53.

Police said he and two friends had gone to a football match at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port of Spain, on Friday, when they got into an argument with a man.

Around 10 p.m., the three men left the stadium, walked over to a car park outside the stadium and got into a Toyota car, when they were approached by the man with whom they had earlier argued.

He withdrew a pistol and fired 15 rounds at them, following which he ran off.

The stadium's security personnel called the police and an ambulance, and the three men were taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital, where Balfour was pronounced dead on arrival.

The other two men were treated and discharged. Police are currently searching for the shooter.

The other murder took place in the Arouca area. The victim, Raymond Maxime, 60, lived at Manzanilla.

Around 5.30 a.m. yesterday, Maxime was plying his maxi-taxi along the Priority Bus Route, when one of his passengers stopped near Bacadaye Street, Arouca.

While walking out of the maxi-taxi, he withdrew a pistol from his waist, placed it to the back of the driver's head and squeezed the trigger once.

Maxime was killed on the spot in front of shocked passengers.

Eyewitnesses said the killer calmly walked up a street and escaped.

Up to last night, no one could say why Maxime had been murdered.

Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations into both incidents.

Anyone actually know if he's going to play for Trinidad or if he's decided to try for the United States? because I heard that Klinnsman was looking into him already

yeah right ....

Believe what u want but I hear that talks, Klinsmann tell me that himself

You heard that Klinsmann was looking into him, then you say Klinsmann told you that himself.

That is too different statements. Which one is it?

The fella not a starter on the DC United, he not on the US U23 team, but he being looked at for the US National team as told to you by the coach. OK lol

I cyah believe anything from that article.  Sometimes you have to humble yourself to the needs of the players for the good of the team.   Leadership doesn't always mean calling all the shots and having the last say.  This is a managerial failure.

You must be talking about the choir....otherwise yuh cyah be serious.

Imagine Alex Ferguson saying that...like yuh ent see what Mancini do to Tevez  :beermug:

And why can't believe anything in the article? Is Lasana lying or Leston lying or both. Because most of the article Leston is "QUOTED" as the actual words of Leston.

The squad should be named today.

As for Mekeil Williams, thanks to David John Williams who was instrumental in helping him get his VISA, he had to fly him to Warsaw and paid the expenses for Mekeil.

That's ah good move from David John Williams

Well, I must say this performance, even against limited opposition was excellent.

The absent midfield was suddenly present.  The introduction of Sean De Silva was certainly a game changer.

Clarema United players and supporters were all asking about eh "white boy," who was "wicked on the left foot or the right foot!"

Again, Jamal Gay was difficult to handle as was Cato with his speed.  Our defense was much, much better today, we held shape and played like a team on a mission.

The comments from the Clarema United players and supporters were encouraging as was the play of the T&T U 23's.

I know that there is some criticism of Coach Eve's decision to play fringe players, but if he is to be faulted is for bringing too many payers to have look at...he cannot bring them and then not give them a chance to play!!!

That said it seems pretty obvious that there will be few changes to the team we have all seen already!

Even though we lost to Canada with some sloppy play, there were glimpses of what this team could accomplish.

Canada is a decent team, but so is T&T...I can honestly say, after watching Canada play this evening that they are not better than we are.

We have a big team, physically imposing, twin towers in the center back, nippy forwards and with Molino and Sean De Silva in mid field to cause headaches.

Cato has some deft touches and real speed, Kevan George is looking decent, I am impressed with Cyrus and his penchant for forays up field.

This performance was very polished and we looked a National Team!!!  Again I concede this was not world class opposition, but we did the job today and we did it with pure aggression.

Appreciate the update  :beermug:

like I said before, look how this yute already sizing up the TTFF. Everybody jumping on Leston. I don't think we have the complete story. Leston probably fed up the TTFF in his very young age. TTFF be trying to get control(discipline) of the juniors and some of them refusing to march in time.

When it comes to the youth particularly in and from T&T we need to not makes excuses for that kind of behaviour.

TTFF and their rediculous actions is no excuse for someone to be unprofessional. Not because teachers watless yuh go tell ah child is ok to be disrespectful when they go to school. People shouldn't pick and choose when they decide to be professional.

The fella need to learn to be professional even in the face of unprofessionalism.

Well well well. So all along people were calling and pushing for him to be in the U23 team, it was he who was being unprofessional. These fellas not serious at all. Imagine this is his behaviour and he ent even make it yet.  Sometimes when you not seeing players in the team, it's their own doing. So they running him down trying to communicate with him and he couldn't be bothered. The fella say he didn't have anything to say, then he leave T&T without saying a word to the technical staff...that's ridiculous. Ah wonder if he visit the team while in they in Florida, that would have gone some ways to repairing any damage done.

Communication is a key part of life, you need to understand that Leston.
No, is the TTFF and Eve don't like foreign based players, this is the problem with all of them plus clubs they attach too not helping and we does give the administration a hard time,if we would only get the real facts before we cast blame.

;D boy Coop's yuh looking fuh cuss yes. Yuh know how people feel about Eve.

Me I doh pick sides, if yuh wrong, yuh wrong.....and if yuh right, yuh right.

And Leston wrong

David John Williams assured me that both Williams and Winchester will be released from the 15th. He added that in Williams contract and the club agreed to release the player for a tournament that is not an official FIFA tournament.

Gent didn't do the same for Hyland and no comments from Eve on such.

The team Winchester trial for is from Noray and is in Spain training.

Ah guess yuh forget about Scottie or yuh give him ah break. I wouldn't pick Scottie as #1 but he sure didn't light up the EPL. He was with Wigan all season and play in alot ah games and only score 1 goal.

But Stern as your #1? Stern didn't really get ah fair shot I would say. Birmingham get Yorke and kinda kick Stern to the curb, then KJ show up at Sunderland and Stern kinda get kicked to the curb again.
He was at Nottingham Forest in the Championship division and once he score too much goals for the contract he was in, they stop playing him.

Last week i was pleased with firebrand for landing ah Q&A with striker darryl roberts, it had me thinking, why not an exclusive interview for soca warrior members with the boss himself russell latapy? flex or tallman, even his buddy Big mag could interview the little magician, or even hold a Q&A like firebrand.

i think it would be a damn good idea! latapy has come under heavy criticism from the media and fans alike, and yet still, never came forward to explain or make clear his position, from his team selection to his game tactics.

i believe he could shine some light on ah lot of his actions during the hex that we may not have agreed with, either through and interview, or better yet a Q&A.

what yuhs think?

Like yuh miss the wee man Just Cool lol

One way to get Q&A is to make him the coach again. How yuh feel about that?  :rotfl:

If Shahdon going to sign a contract in Norway I could kinda understand that but to go on trial before a big tournament doesn't make sense to me especially since there would be a lot of scouts there anyway. It would make more sense to prepare with the team as much as possible to be in sync and make a good impression. He's been on a bunch of trials already. Then they "hearing" he might be in Spain lol. This is so T&T it aint funny. If he was to lose he spot on the team he look fuh that.

They should try to get DeLeon since the US ent pick him.

Ah really hope Molino go be there because he's the main player.  Good to see Cato and George in the team.
