Best of luck

Hmm, not sure JAmaica even has an active under-23 squad at the moment, but I suppose they can use 3 or 4 of the guys who recently played on the senior team + the best qualified candidates from the RSPL.  Not sure what to make of this game, but given that your boys have been playing together for some time now, i'd expect you to have a more cohesive unit...1-0 goal victory for the boyz or tied game  ;)

RF Jamaica will get a cutass. You as well know that. '

That isn't a racist joke. It's a 'your mother slept with a dog' joke. I've heard the joke a million times applied to redheads or 'why is everyone else tall?' Sometimes the dog is a donkey.

His race had nothing to do with the punchline. Still crass but not racist.

Dinner Mints

Even the JUDGE say the joke is a racist joke  ::)

If most of the club teams take these positions it may benefit T&T as Mexico and US teams have players who play for bigger clubs. MLS teams will prob release their players though.

Football / Re: Sancho & Jeffrey quit NE Stars
« on: February 16, 2012, 02:25:50 PM »
First, Sancho and Jeffrey did not quit North East Stars. But they are no longer with the club. I would expect some kind of statement soon.

The problem with Roopie is that it was revealed in an article that he played for two clubs in USA. The ProLeague saw this article (and placed it on their website) and quite rightfully informed North East that he would require transfer papers from the previous club. (This is a FIFA ruling, not a Pro League rule)

Roopie says that although he played some games, he had no contract and did not register. This needs to be examined because in most leagues clubs are fined for playing unregistered players.

This may seem very frustrating, but there is a process and its for perfectly good reasons and relates back to the Bosman Ruling concerning freedom of movement. There are also rules concerning the number of clubs you register for in one season. You may recall that Mascherano had a problem when he played for West Ham and went on loan to Liverpool. I can't remember all of the details, but I think he was supposed to sign for another club, but if he did this, he wouldn't be eligible to play. Maybe someone can refresh my memory?

Point is, there must be correct documentation and a clear paper trail when signing players. In this instance, don't blame Dexter Skeene or the Pro League.

Maybe the press release came out already but why is Sancho and Jeffrey no longer with North East Stars  ???

At this point, to the best of my knowledge, North East Stars President, Mr Mahabir, nor Mr Sancho or Mr Jefferey are inclined to make any public statements concerning this issue. All I can confirm is that Mr Sancho and Mr Jefferey did not resign from North East Stars F.C.

they were terminated then ...ok

Nobody saying a word about what's going on with the club? We here like transparency and a statement should have been made already, just as the club did with Stern John.

If Sancho have goals of moving forward possibly into administration elsewhere in the future, personally for me it doesn't look good when we already coming from an administration (TTFF) that didn't think they need to be transparent. Because it will certainly make me wonder if something else come up, whether or not the public will be told anything  :-\

Allyuh being way too hard on Eve. All Angus care about is his position and the U23 getting to the Olympics, that may not meet everyone's objectives but the U23 more than likely have those same thoughts, all that is going on with the TTFF would be seen as politics to those players as well as Eve.

And lost in all this fiery talk is some National U23 players who only have dreams of going to the Olympics.

All the guns need to focus on the TTFF, this starting to look like ah mob mentality and it have enough ah that going on in T&T right now.

Roopie take my stupid advice, take a good  look at  what is going on with our football right now, ask yourself questions , ask yourself if you really want to play football in T&T .

Youthman every thing happen, happen for a good ,you might not see it now but when it happen you would say it is a good thing i did not sign up in the pro league in T&T.

Remember this, things is going to change one of these days and when it happen i hope you would be ready to serve then , but as of now move on and do your thing ,don't take it on .

I would not be suprize if this have serious politics in it ,just my oponion

Why not encourage the fella to fight for what he want to achieve ???

There are many countries that have all kinda issues going on with their administration, but that should not diminish someone's desire to represent their country. Why would you encourage someone with that desire to represent T&T (which is why he wants to play in the pro league)to walk away and say look at what is going on.
What wrong with a player or any person saying i'm representing my country and NOT any administration ???

Someone coming with so much desire to play in the pro league, more desire than the locals that there and what you could think of doing?...Tell him he will say is ah good thing he didn't sign up for the Pro League.

How about if he sign up....everybody get to say is ah good thing he did sign up for the pro league, "he bring flair, passion, aggression, determination, energy, a different look, a new audience, etc" Why not encourage him to hang in there instead of giving up and waiting till, "thing's change one day."   It might seem odd but people outside the US (including many trinis) don't like to give up that easily yuh know. Ah think that T&T could trademark and copyright the give up and loser mentality...we national team do it all too often.

Anyway carry on....cause ah feel like ah picking on yuh when is really not just you....is ah normal kinda thinking.

Hard luck dey.  It appears to me....just me...that this may not be what he should be doing in the first place.  Wasn't this youth in college?  Granted I don't have all the facts, why he fighting up with the TT league?

Because he have goals to be on the U23  team and ultimately the National Team.....and that includes being seen on a regular basis, as an unknown who isn't playing for a big club, isn't in the MLS, isn't with a big school, he use common sense and figure why not go where the coach is, in a league with "men" playing and if he excel, stand a better chance than his current situation playing for community college.

PLUS....you do know yuh could get ah college degree at even past 60 years old but yuh can't do the same with a professional football career....

That is more than likely why he fighting up.......

So, apart from Hyland...would we really need any other current national team player for 2018 to add to this u-23 squad?
They should just let them be the national senior team from now. And leave Eve in charge at least until 2015 when WCQ in full swing. By then we could know if he ont he right track or if we need foreign help.

I dont know about that. One of the reasons that we are here right now is because we didnt qualify for the last 2 gold cups. In order to get an easier qualifying group or a bye altogether we must make the next 2 gold cups. I dont think that we should bring any player about 30 but then Holland had Van Brockhorst captaining their side at 36, if they can do it with more quality then whats stopping us.

I think besides Hyland there are others who should be involved with the Digicel Cup this summer. Jones, Roberts, Peltier, Birchall, James, Thomson(hes one of our only true wingers), Mitchell & Daniel(provided he gets back with the Union) have earned a spot on the digicel team.

I agree with the first part. No point bringing in any players over 30 years old.

If somebody say experience is why we need those players is experience ....not serious. Those players experience is one of losing...what exactly will they teach these younger players? Losing.
Right now we have a group of U23 that are mainly made up of players who been together since U17 and they've already been to 2 World Cups, that is unprecedented for T&T and we doh need to spoil that. They on the right track. No point having some older player taking one of their spots when they will be on the decline, if they ever was on the incline at one point.
The players you mentioned could add something to this young team but only if they under 30, Jones, Roberts, Peltier, Birchall, James, Thomson, Mitchell, Daniel. There are others who haven't been in the fold for a while like Knox who need to be looked at before any older players  :beermug:

Good move by Eve. Let the players know that we're interested and they are on the radar.

The team is in a rebuilding process so the sooner we get these young players into the setup the better for the project in the long run.

Men like Paul will be called back but it's important that we build a team of professional players. He needs to find a pro team. If he isn't with a pro team he will be falling behind the curve. De Leon have sense as he already stated he could always go back and finish his degree or take classes online.

Goodluck Densil....keep working hard on the field and try to take away as much as you can from the experience.

Like we may need to learn a thing or two from the Indian pro league, 5-10,000 in the stands...

That's good that they get that many people but....
5000-10,000 people in India sounds like a lot but that is like 50-100 people in a country over 1 BILLION

You missing the main point that crowds of 5-10 thousand per game can support a league whereas 50-100 cannot. The fact that the country's population is very large isn't that relevant here

Yuh really think that a country's population being very large isn't relevant here ???

A country that's 1000 times more populated than T&T doesn't matter that they get crowds 100 times bigger?

For every 6 people on Earth better than 1 live in India -

Sorry but you're not being logical, it is relevant.

Hmmm... this game is not played on a FIFA sanctioned date. There has only been one Pro League game since 14th January. Most nations get 3 days with their players before an International and do not get players released for regular weekly training sessions .

I think it would be more meaningful to arrange a 3 country tour that gives a squad a chance to bond over a ten day period. Maybe something like Scotland, Norway & Switzerland who aren't involved in the Euros.

That might sound good but how possible is that in reality. T&T is ranked so low that it's difficult to get ONE decent game, you think the National Team could get 3 quality teams in 10 days. Euros or no Euros :-\

Messi is the best, hands down. The fella have ah hunger that seems insatiable. You have never seen that in Zidane, Ronaldinho, a little in the Real Ronaldo and some what in Maradonna. I think it was in Pele when he was younger - like pre 20s. CRonaldo, just does not have it, it's either happening for him or it not.

Looking at Messi play is like looking at someone who is dying and desperately clinging to life. Like the minute he stops playing his life will end. It so intense and different. The level of defensive tactical organization is at an all time best right now and Messi is yet to be solved for.
Yes he has great passers behind him, yet no manager in the world will go onto the field with out a specific and detailed plan for Messi and for players supporting Messi. A team preparing to play Barca with Messi prepares a whole lot differently than if preparing to play the same Barca team without Messi.

How many times has Messi played without Xavi and Iniesta and still showed why he is the best? The fella is it as their is no current comparisons and the old comparisons goes as far as Messi hasn't won a WC.

Steups... you cyah be serious

Teenager Cato signs with Seattle Sounders.
T&T Express Reports.

Trinidad and Tobago Under-20 player Cordell Cato has become the latest Trinidadian to sign a professional contract to play in American Major League Soccer (MLS) after agreeing to a one-year deal with Seattle Sounders this week.

Nineteen-year-old Cato had been on trial there earlier this year and Sounders placed him on their discovery list before eventually offering the deal, which is a one-year contract with the option for an additional two years. His agent Evans Wise relayed the news yesterday.

"Right now we're just working on some final documents before he comes back over to join the Seattle team. He has to be here in time to get things started with them by January 15.

He will also complete a medical when he returns and the club will then unveil him," Wise told Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) media officer Shaun Fuentes.

"It's a great opportunity for him and I'm happy for Cordell because he's one of the players who has worked very hard.

He hasn't been on the national team in recent times but that doesn't deny talent when it comes to taking opportunities," said Wise, who also represents midfielder Kelvin Molino and Ataullah Guerra, who was on trial with DC United and Philadelphia Union earlier this year.

Cato, formerly of St Anthony's College, will attempt to make an impact at Seattle as they head into pre-season training.

"I'm really looking forward to joining the club and I'm very excited to take on this next chapter in my career. I never played in the T&T Pro League. I've trained with Defence Force and now to get this opportunity is the best thing to happen to me in my life so far,' Cato told Fuentes.

"Seattle  are a club with a lot of ambitions and great facilities and I think this can be an excellent opportunity to develop as a player and play a part in their attempts to be victorious in the MLS," said Cato.

Good luck to the youth

No one here knows all the facts. One of my freinds, Bradley Welch was training with North East cus he was going to Pioland on trial. He was telling me that they are the most profesional club in the league. He sais Stern John was causing lots of problems cus he was disapearing ant not telling no one. Like after he was arrested they were calling him but never heard from him until tuesday. Then he punched a player in the face in the dressing room after a game and went to England without telling them cus the other players crew was after him. And he didn't report for training after the Guyana game when others did and then the last time they saw him was at a practise match when the coach substituted him at half time cus he was affecting the team and he just left without permission and the owner got vex and said he was finished.

He said that most of the players are pleased hes gone and moral is much better and there some good players coming in. I think there are some small problems cus the owner wants to be involve, but he won the league a few years ago so maybe he thinks he can help.

But Stern was wrong to say all this even if he was vex cus North east not saying shit about how he was.

If Stern punch ah player in the face, if is not Bradley Welch..then Bradley Welch might be next; cause yuh just throw him under the bus  :D

I just saw a report on TV6 that John thought that North East Stars were unprofessional in the way he was released.  Unfortunately, I was interrupted by my neighbour and didn't get the full story.......

John claims he opted to leave North East Stars

Striker Stern John says news that he was released by DirecTV North East Stars came as a shock since he requested to leave the T&T Pro League club weeks ago. John signed a three-month contract earlier this year after deciding to stay in T&T to be close to his mother who had been ailing and subsequently passed away. “It was a surprise when I saw that the club said to the Press that they released me.” John said he was disappointed with the way the club handled the separation. “The reason I came back was because my mom was sick and the T&T manager told me I should be with a club so I decided to go to North East. We just had a verbal agreement which allowed me to leave when I wanted.”

John said he decided to leave about a week and a half ago. “I informed the club CEO Brent Sancho and I wished them all the best. I also went to the club with intentions to help the younger players or bring something to the club from my past experience,” John added.  John described his time at North East Stars as a joke. “The set up was never really organised. We had situations where players were training when they wanted and reaching late for matches. I’d never seen that before in my professional career. The club owner is passionate and means well but he’s too much involved. He needs to let the players play their football and let the staff get the job done.” The T&T all-time leading goalscorer will leave for the United States to hold talks with clubs in the MLS and the USL First Division which have expressed interest in his services for the next season.

Well well well. I going with Stern version on this one. How yuh go say that yuh release Stern John from ah PFL team ???

They coulda say mutually agreed to part ways, but to say yuh release him? He deserve more respect than that.

Who responsible for that release to the media? Obviously the owner, but Sancho should know better than that and have ah say, after all he is the CEO

This was the only comment made in response to a media enquiry. Where does it say he was released? Does it say Stern was rubbish? Do you know why the club decided not to renew the contract? Then you have a comprehensive press release to study, but choose to ignore, even Sancho's comments which you appear to have overlooked.

According to the team’s owner/president Darryl Mahabir, “we had a three- month contract and it came to an end.”

Mahabir added that the management decided not to renew the contract of the 35-year-old, who joined the club in August after recovering from a year-long right knee injury.

How the management go decide to not renew the contract when Stern say it was a verbal agreement which allowed him to leave when he wanted?

Like ah say it woulda been better to say both parties decided to part ways mutually, but any how you take it Mahabir say he decide to not renew the contract, no difference really.
