I called up this restaurant in Park Slope, Brooklyn that was on the Circuito
Cerrado website listing and they will be showing the game Saturday at 4pm. There is a cover charge of $15 to cover the cost of the close circuit broadcasting and they only serve beer, wine and soda.

I also called Circuito Cerrado and they said the updated bar and restaurant list will be posted on Friday. So until then Continental Restaurant will be the venue where we will see T&T put de hurt on Guatemala.

All who down just send meh ah message or give meh ah post.

If it is a pride ting den beenie yuh do everything yuh said yuh would do in de fax, so yuh en go look bad.

We know that you may not be as fast and skilled as you were in previous WC campaigns, but your heart is where it should be...in de battle. Hats off to the true definition of a Soca Warrior!

Just over three weeks til de showdown in Hartford, CT and no word on any warm up games. Based on our performance in de Gold Cup it is imperative for us to play at least one game to build confidence and to work out all de kinks. Even if is just we local players...

Football / De real problem...
« on: July 14, 2005, 02:08:43 PM »
A topic was brought up by a forumite on the Warriors being to old and maybe younger players were needed. Well I took some time to look at the Goal Cup team rosters and this is what I found:

Trinidad
No. of player-23    Local- 7     Overseas- 15    No status-1    Average Age- 27

USA
No. of players- 23     Local-15     Overseas-8    No status- 0    Average Age- 27.2

Jamaica
No. of player-23     Local-15      Overseas-7    No status-1    Average Age-25

Mexico
No. of players-23    Local-23      Overseas-0    No status-0    Average Age-25.4 (2 dates missing)

Panama
No. of players-23    Local- 14     Overseas-7    No status-2    Average Age- 28.1 (4 dates missing)

Costa Rica
No. of players-23     Local-20      Overseas-3    No status-0    Average Age-26.5 (1 date missing)

Guatemal
No of players-23    Local-21      Overseas-2    No status-0    Average Age-25.1 (1 date missing)

Honduras
No. of players-20     Local- 12     Overseas-2    No status-6

Cuba
No. of players-20     Local-20      Overseas-0    No status-0

Canada
No. of players-22     Local- 14     Overseas-8    No status-0

From the look of things I think the problem might not be with the age of the players but possibly the number of overseas players (17 to 6 locals) we have on the team. Maybe the large number of overseas players and their different styles and attitudes hinder the team dynamics. The Strike Squad... our best team to date, had mostly home grown players and look at the success they amassed. We should also take note of the players that make up the other teams in the GC and their teams' success.
I am not saying that we should neglect our overseas players, because they bring their international experince which is vital, but the core structure of the team should be at home. Beenie should invite the top goal scores and defenders from our home league to train with the team as was suggested by forumites on this site. If that does not yeild good results we should do our best to encourage, support and mentor our youth to elevate their game for the success of future teams. I am open to suggestions on how this can be accomplished.
Another problem which was previously discussed on this website that needs to be addressed is de atrocious passing and trapping. These are basic skills that any international team must possess soundly. Well Beenie if yuh eh see dat yuh need glasses...

Warrior 4 life!

Football / Question on T&T's internationals...?
« on: June 20, 2005, 01:05:25 PM »
Hey Flex is there a feature on this website that monitors the progress of members of the national team or prospects who play ball internationally? The idea came to me when I saw the posting of Cornel Glen's wicked goal against the Metro Stars yesterday.

If there is no such source and u guys are planning on setting it up, info on the number of T&T players in all the professional leagues and their stats will be of value. This coverage could possibly include collegiate players also.

What yuh think?

Ah see some forumites had some discussions about how we would stand up against the Mighty Brazil. Well being the optimist... I think this game is the  closest we might come to playing them before we meet dem up "in de flesh" in Germany 2006 ;D

Football / Cut Ass in Connecticut Campaign
« on: June 06, 2005, 06:11:23 PM »
Calling all Soca Warrior Supporters!!!!

Regardless of the outcome of the T&T vs Mex game, we have to start the T&Tvs USA fan support campaign from now. It will be ideal if we could out number the USA supporters in Rentschler Field stadium on Aug 17.
You see how our warriors play when they have de fan support and de number of trinis that reside in the US alone could more than fill that stadium. So leh we devise a plan to come out in droves, buy out dat stadium or at least situate ourselves strategically so dat we warriors could hear we an feel we as we cheer dem on.

Let de "Cut Ass in Connecticut" Campaign begin...all yuh wit we?
