I get the frustration, but after firing Eve who are we relying on to select a good coach? The same people who pick Eve in the first place?
You cannot have a federation racked with spinelessness and mediocrity, and in this kind of disarray and expect to be in the upper tier in COCACAF. Whether it be senior, youth male or female.
For all of Eve's glaring faults, we have beaten Bahamas, and Jamaica at home. and tied with Nicaragua, conceding 1 goal, scoring 5. Jamaica and Nicaragua without Molino, Levi, Daniel Phillips or Muckette, arguably our most effective players.
There is no value in throwing money at a 'super coach' to play Grenada, Guyana, Puerto Rico and Suriname and ignoring the issues that have been rotting the football for well over 10 years.

What excuses. Eve has serious deficiencies as a manager. His decision making and ability to adapt on the fly appears very poor. Again, he seems to be a good coach/trainer in terms of solid defensive structure as expected in modern international football (Jamaica, Bahamas etc), but terrible in terms of his in-game tactical responsiveness.
But at this point no coach taking us to the world cup in 2026. Lets get that out of the way. I don't see the point in hiring a big coach when we are parked near the bottom of the world not just in rankings but in governance

Fire him and then what??? No fitball for three years, a local league that is professional in name only, nothing remotely resembling a competent development program, and we basically in receivership. Eve seems to do some scouting and prepare for the opening tactics of the opposing team. But why is he surprised at the dirty tactics of these Central Americans? That is who they are and how they play.
And he is quickly lost when having to adapt to changing conditions on the field. The difference between a coach and a tactician might not be apparent in practice but its huge in the clutch. Trinidad and Tobago has some great coaches. And zero great tacticians.

According to him, Rangers "does train harder" than the national team. They are currently in 7th spot out of 12 teams the TT PFL.
Not exactly a ringing endorsement of a better training system.

Good show fellas. Have not seen a mostly local team keep its shape and penetrate past the half with short passing since the 2006/2007 Caribbean cup against this level of opposition.

Does the local association map the career trajectory of national youth team players? Is it me or do they tend to end up playing in 2nd tier local leagues after U-20? Have consistent barriers to success in the professional league been identified for these youth? If yes how can these barriers be reduced?
There are a lot of players who represent at CONCACAF or greater tiers then fall into national obscurity soon after. Strikers especially.
I’m thinking Juma Clarence, Jamaal Gay, Jerrel Brito, Dwight Quintero, Neil Benjamin, Kadeem Corbin, Aikim Andrews, Kishun Seecharan, Kathon St Hillaire, Brent Sam, Jamille Boatswain, Isaiah Lee among others.

I could never understand why these Central Americans are out pacing Caribbean players to/on a ball. I don't remember seeing any Guatemalans or Nicaraguans in the 100 m final of any Olympics recently, yet alone winning a gold.
A man from Guat got a silver medal in 20km race walking in 2012.
A fella from Panama hit bronze in 100 meters...in 1948.
Dominican republic got a silver medal in mixed gender 4X 400 relay in 2020.
Yet their players exhibit consistently greater speed bursts AND greater endurance over 90 minutes. Add speed of thought, greater technical ability, better tactical awareness, better team play, and better coaching performance during games. Spells disaster.
Not to worry tho. In 2032 we'll adopt the training methods they were using in 2022. A couple webinars ought to bring us up to speed .

Would love to hear the rationale playing in in Eve's mind for that. To Khan's credit he did step up to score twice when pushed into those roles. Maybe its adaptability that coaches value in him.

Eve seems to be able to pull the best from key players but can't get a team performance to support his tactics.
Didn't watch the game so I won't make comment....but maybe when our financial house is in order we should step away from hiring local coaches for first time national duties. Its great to give chances to our own, but the team's future is more important than the coach's future.

I had the pleasure of watching many age groups in the RBC tournament a few years back, different age groups, and except for a few cases on a couple teams in the U10 age group there was hardly any of that style played or coached. Where have you been observing this among the local youths in development ? At the higher youth levels their was exceptional player, the 1 major issue was discipline and punctuality from 2 teams in particcular, Patna Village and Laventille youths, however their player although NOT boom kick was reactive and rough. The coaches were still trying to give them proper directions though, given the obvious team issues. QPCC players, Trendsetter Hawks and 1 other team - i think outta Barataria - coaches and supporters were a cut above the rest. Funny though, I haven't seen any of the top players from that tournament move on, or maybe I may missed them.disgraceful performance and no answers from eve.

It's the same ole same ole that have been going on for decades and still no one has learned a darn thing, how can you compete with countries that invest in their sports discipline? just look around you and see which caribbean team that has been dominant over the north and central americans...there aren't any, and do you know why? because we in CFU are lazy self serving monkeys who don't want to put in the work but crave positions of leadership while relying on talent alone for past 60 years.
So save your disappointment mate, and do like me and watch with a coaches eye. the last straw for me was when they fired fenwick for angus, claiming that coaching was the reason for us flunking out of the world cup, when it wasn't coaching but lack of development, and the fact that most of our lads play in very poor leagues around the world.
As one of a thousand examples....30 years of boom kick and toepee up the field, and not a single one a defence splitting pass. That should be automatic jail time. Somebody is coaching the youth to boomkick or not correcting them when its done. For 30+ years
I'm watching youths who play at the highest level, representing their country, not youths in a tournament. The pattern has been the same for decades and was on full display last night. When under duress our players instinctively move the ball forward through the air from the middle of the field toward or through the flanks. And far more often than not an opposing player takes possession of the ball.
Maybe there is an effort being made to do things differently now, but with the exceptions of 1991, Anton Corneal/Vranes world cup squads and the very capable 2015 U-20s no T&T youth team has been able to consistently advance a ball forward using rapid precise passing interchanges under pressure. To build a skilled player is one thing...to build a skilled team is another matter entirely

Eve please drop Khan back and don't put the youth in a playing frame where he will be indecisive. He did not stand out last game. Experiment against Mexico and they will devour the minutest bit of time or space presented to them.

Put together a team of the best 11 U-24 European raised of T&T heritage, and play them against the best 11 on the island. Who do you think will come out on top?
Likely the foreigners would beat the local born, would you agree? If that were to be the case, its the organizational competence and efficacy of the local governing body that makes the difference, not talent.
Nicaragua is not consistently beating us because we have no talent. They're beating us because over time their governance has been better than ours. Small to big decisions. Day in day out.
We are in a crisis with no end in sight. And its exactly where we deserve to be.

Looking to see how Jaheim Faustin performs. He and Khan combine very well around the upper left portion. Scored a beautiful goal against Panama at U-15.
I believe Eve has the makings of a good manager. He seems to be no nonsense but flexible, has good man management, and I think he sees the bigger picture.
Anyway, they look solid. To my uneducated eye, a challenge might be coalescing as a team, only because of the heavier presence of new players in the midfield. Good luck to them.

Good stuff, well deserved.
I think if he had skipped post-secondary and gone straight to professional he might have surpassed even players like Molino in terms of impact on the game. But that education will pay dividends long after his playing career. T&T needs good leaders this to clean up and rejuvenate sports
