Prediction for Group J:

Jamaica
TnT
Grenada
Martinique

There certainly gonna be fireworks there. I hope it happens ;D
Then Jamaica and Haiti in the finals. Then  :flamethrower: for Haiti.  ;D

that would be something if Haiti and Jamaica were to play in the finals. Another shot to spoil the hosts' party
Unfortunately, the Office has been a boogie ground for the Haitians since the last half century. Not like T&T. ;D
I'm assuming that Haiti's group will be played in the New Trelawny stadium on Jamaica's tourism west coast but Jamaica's group and the final will definately be played at the Office.

Past records mean nothing, besides, playing & beating the hosts in the capital in the championship match.......that would be priceless. So even if both teams make it that far to play each other in the final, to play that match in the office...i wuldn't want it any otha way :beermug:

i think what surprised Haitian fans about the selections made was that Fabien Vorbe wasn't selected. However, most of us still remember Joseph Guemsley's beautiful goal against Japan during last summer's FIFA U-17 World Cup. That goal was incredible!

I thought vorbe was going to france

Yes but he's still part of Haiti's U-20 squad. I've heard that part of the reason he wasn't chosen was because he's already heading to Europe soon so it helps to pick other players who need the exposure.

Fabien Vorbe

Haiti politically stable ? Dat country will never ever be politically stable .

Heh! The Jews probably thought the same way about their 'pax romana' until they decided to try out their relative freedom and ...they got the Massada! Go figure or simply ask Zimbabwe!

De worst thing that ever happen to Haiti is getting independence .

Just curious: what can you possibly know about "independence"?

Haiti does gave de rest a de carribean bad name

How so? Tigers' cubs grow to become tigers, not pet cats like some of our detractors are , if you see what i mean ;)

allyuh fellas killing one another for politicians

Argentina, Bolivia, Germany, Japan, China, Turkey, Chile, Venezuela, Cuba...almost every country in the world at one time or another have "fellas killing one another for politicians ". It's only bad when it happens in Haiti, I guess.

Haiti is a very good team and I will not be suprised if Haiti reach the world cup for there first time .

No sir, that would not be the first time. We won the concacaf championship in 1973 after we beat Guatemala 2-1, finishing the competition on top with one match to spare!

I dont concider you guys first Journey to the world cup (paying of de refs against My beloved TNT)

Honestly, why would Haiti, the runners-up of the 1969 WCQ, paid off a referee against a team that it beat 6-0 just a few months earlier, specially when  Haiti was the host? Does that really make sense to you? I don't really want to take that away from you if that's all you have to lean on, however, you're just not making sense at all.

Here some important details that can help you, my friend:

1- Haiti started the competition with a victory while TnT started with a loss.

In those days, the 2 pts for a victory systems made it almost impossible for a team who has  a defeat to advance. For example, in 1969, Haiti beat everybody but El Salvador, which unfortunately won all its matches. ES qualified.

Same scenarion in 1977. Haiti had 4 wins, 0 draw, and just 1 Defeat. That one defeat caused haiti to finish 2nd to Mexico.

2- Haiti and TnT met in their 2nd match day, not in a final showdown.

It seems to me some of you think Haiti and TnT met in a winner take it all! That's quite far from the truth.

The teams met at the beginning of the competition and TnT, which was an outsider anyway at the time, came to the match with 0pt.

TnT was not considered a big team at the time. For example, TnT wasn't in the finals in 1969 and TnT's presense in Port-au-Prince was due mostly to the fact that Haiti was already qualified as host and the other top Caribbean team, the Netherlands-Antilles, was already in decline. TnT struggled to beat a reseves Haitian team just a few weeks before the tournament.

3- The controversial game

Haiti took the lead and went defensive knowing that it only needed a win against TnT. That's what induces some of you to believe that TnT was the superior team. Had any of TnT's disallowed goals counted and the match would have naturally changed. During the whole match, TnT was playing to level the game while Haiti was trying to kill the game.

Did the ref made bad calls? He certainly did as he was severly punished for that later. Many Haitians would tell you that the referees were biased in that match. But, did Haiti pay that ref? Probably not. Haiti continued to beat TnT almost everytimes they met in the 70s!!!

However, it amused me when I hear some of you say "Haiti tief we". Let's assume the corrupt dictator J-C Duvalier did pay the ref, how is that Haiti's fault  and why hating on Haiti for the actions of a man? Would you like to be held reliable for Jack Warner's actions?

4- Which team was better?

Haiti beat the team that beat TnT in TnT's opening game. Does that tell you something? Did Haiti also 'tief that team' as well or did that team 'tief' TnT?

Then, things became suddenly interesting for Haiti as the other teams started drawing each others leaving Haiti on top of the tournament. The competition was over after Haiti's 4th match against Guatemala! Naturally, the real contenders were disappointed. Believe it or not, that's the context in which TnT was able to win its remaining 3 matches.

-5 conclusion

Was TnT-1973 one of the best concacaf team or the best team out of TnT?

TnT experience in 1973 was similar to that of Panama in the 2005 GC, an outsider that had a great competition. In fact, just like the Panamanian team, the TnT-1973 team could not even qualified for the following Hex in 1977 while not only the Haiti-1973 team did qualified for Mexico 1977, the team finished 2nd in that competition.

that's what's up toussaint, almost none of us were born during the 1970's so why does it remain a major topic Caribbean haters make on us.

Football / Warner names Haiti the CFU 'Team of The Year' for 2007
« on: December 29, 2007, 09:51:01 AM »
Haiti named CFU ‘Team of the Year’

Friday, December 28 2007

REGIONAL football boss Jack Warner, right, and Haitian Football Federation President Dr Ives Jean Bart at the CFU Dinner at the House of Chan Restaurant, Emerald Plaza earlier this month.

CARIBBEAN Football Union President Jack Warner yesterday announced Haiti as the regional “Team of the Year” for 2007.

Warner made his selection known to Haitian Football Federation President Dr Yves Jean Bart in a formal letter and explained that Haiti was undoubtedly the highest achiever in the region.

They were the winners of the 2007 Digicel Caribbean Cup, Qualifiers for the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup, first regional qualifiers for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup 2007 and regional qualifiers for the final round of qualification towards the 2008 Olympic Games.

“As we approach the end of 2007 I consider the time most appropriate to commend you and your Federation for the wonderful achievements which were attained by Haiti,” stated Warner.

“Not only can Haitians take pride in those achievements but we, in both CONCACAF and the Caribbean Football Union, of which I have the honour to be President, also feel a justifiable sense of pride. Such accomplishments must be due to the vibrant leadership of the Federation Haitienne de Football,” Warner stated.

Warner also revealed that next March, at the CFU Congress, the Caribbean Male and Female “Player of the Year” will be announced.

“To have achieved so much with very limited financial resources deserves the highest commendation and it is my pleasure to recommend that you receive a special award from the Caribbean Football Union as the Caribbean Football Nation of the Year 2007.This shall be done at our Congress on March 2 in Guadeloupe when we shall also be making other awards to the Caribbean Player of the Year ( Male and Female ) and the Caribbean Referee of the Year (Male and Female),” Warner added.

Dr Jean Bart, in a recent interview, said his country has had to make do with its limited resources but remained determined to make a strong bid for 2010 World Cup qualification.

“We have worked very, very hard with the little that we have,” Jean Bart said while in Port-of-Spain for a recent CFU function earlier this month.

“We believe that we have a very good chance to make it to the World Cup. Already we have identified a lot of players playing in Europe, in France and Italy, that can come and play for us but our biggest problem is the money because it cost a lot to bring players from that far.

“But right now we have two parts of training – one at home where we train four days a week and then the players abroad are also in training when they can come together.

“We also have two players who played in the Under-17 (World Cup) in training with our senior team. We are one of the poorest countries but our people are very hungry for success even though it has not been easy.

“We think that if we work hard and play good football then we can have a chance to join Jamaica and Trinidad in the World Cup. I want to thank Mr Warner for his support and for having us here and we will try to represent the region as best as we can,” Jean Bart added.

37
There'll only be two finalists from CFU in the hex in 2009. Jamaica and Trini.  :)

Haiti and Cuba will get duss early. And Haiti and Cuba aren't in the elite in CFU. ;D

And your opinion is relevant to this topic because......???

38
It would be a dream to see Haiti, Trinidad & Tobago, Cuba, and Jamaica all in the final hex. Most likely it won't happen but i wish all the Caribbean elite well.

39
But Fabien Vorbe and Peterson Joseph are 2 stars in the making.

20 young Haitians just signed contracts with some French clubs (not on the list above). Haitian-French Wagneau Eloi has successfully put Haiti in the French clubs radar as those clubs usually look to Africa for young talents.

I also suspect Haiti-U17 participation in the WC has also provided Eloi a solid argument for his case.

Also, according to the rumours, F. Vorbe is heading to Bordeaux, which is a surprise to me as the Vorbes familly often refuse to let their kids sign with foreign clubs. All that is great news for our football.

Almost all the guys in the list above were born in Haiti. We are not yet at the level to challenge teams like France, Switzerland, and even USA (remember Jozy) for players who may play for us. We need some big victories to convince those kids that we are back for real.

ENVOYEZ LES FRANCAIS! ENVOYEZ LES FRANCAIS!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the USA u-17 squad has another kid of Haitian descent, Stefan Jerome, who recently scored for them in a friendly against Russia's u-17 squad. I guess Josmer Altidore was just the beginning. :-\

It looks like the USSF is taking France's approach and taking mostly foreign born players or first generation Americans. Soon or later the USA squad will be all African, Hispanic, and West Indian players.

41
Allyuh have men in Argentina? How did that happen?

Dem fellas eh no where near the first squad of either Boca or River. In the sure case of Norde not even near de reserves ... and I think the same applies to Aveska. Maybe in lower leagues if they still in Argentina but I don't think so. They not showing in the database.

Haiti had some U-23s on trial in South America and maybe dahiz part of de tie up ... tried but not signed or just taken for exposure - assuming the connection is incorrect. Uruguay had a Haitian connection.

Actually Sony Norde has a couple articles in the Argentinian sports newspapers linking him as a high candidate to move up to the Boca Juniors first squad. Norde and Aveska are in the Boca Juniors and River Plate Academies.

Football / Re: CONCACAF GROUPS
« on: November 27, 2007, 11:05:34 PM »
I for one worried about our group!

the difficulty of a group is often determined by the strength of the 3rd team, and in cuba and guatemala, we have some seriously tricky fixtures there... last time, after mexico, we had st. vincent and some other shit side in we group (which we had difficulty to negotiate if i remember well enough), but now is tough games down de line..

People like dey forget the progress Cuba has been making and their performances at the Digicel cup.. they cannot be overlooked and i could easily see them springing a few surprises.  And we all know about how dangerous an opponent Guatemala can be, and how they will be playing us with a chip on their shoulder given that they were the ones who suffered as a result of our late charge in the last WCQ campaign..

Most worrying is that we are doing absolutely nothing in the way of preparation while other teams getting their acts in order.. Is like we expecting a side to just show up on de day... furthermore, how easy will it be getting our best players here for the earlier round fixtures??

one thing for certain, it wont be easy for us to get to the hex..

Cuba and Guatemala are both garbage.  Canada pounded Guatemala 3-0 at the Gold Cup, while Honduras beat Cuba 5-0.

T&T in the Hex from this easy group.

You easily say that Cuba and Guatemala are garbage because of what happened at the Gold Cup!? With all due respect, what happened to Trinidad & Tobago then?

Guatemala & Cuba are garbage (relative of course), next to the likes of Canada, Jamaica, and Honduras.  Even JW has said you have an easy group and due to the draw, should make the Hex.  That is the understatement of the year.

T&T fielded a complete B-squad during the Gold Cup, and in no way indicative of their true team.  I think many of the T&T players on the fence will be bolstered by their easy group draw.  T&T essentially has a free pass to the Hex, while Canada, Jamaica, Honduras and Mexico will have to fight through a group harder than the Hex.

Are You Serious? Except for the Caribbean Cup which Trinidad & Tobago hosted, Cuba has been dominating the soca warriors in alot of different age groups including a 3-0 win during the Olympic Qualifiers. Guatemala isn't that good either but i hardly think that they can be beaten, especially with this "experimental" squad although most of the soca warriors world cup squad arent ever playing for Trinidad & Tobago again.

Boyz's next international friendly details within 48 hours, says JFF boss
Howard Walker, Observer writer walkerh@jamaicaobserver.com

Tuesday, November 06, 2007

Within the next 48 hours Jamaica will know which team the Reggae Boyz will be playing at the Office in a couple weeks, Jamaica Football Federation's (JFF) president, Captain Horace Burrell, told the Observer yesterday.

Captain Burrell, in his first day at work at his New Kingston office, said he will be meeting with some investors and an announcement will be forthcoming shortly.

Said Burrell: "We will be meeting with some interests today (Monday), who want to partner with the Jamaica Football Federation in seeking out international football. There are two friendly international dates on November 18 and the 21 and within the next 48 hours, I will be making some announcements as it relates to International Friendlies at the Office. We intend to rekindle all the sparks in making the National Stadium the office once again."

Jamaica have not played a game since their 1-8 mauling away to Iran in early July, and several international football dates have blown by since.

During Jamaica's successful run to the 1998 World Cup Finals in France, the Reggae Boyz played a plethora of International Friendlies while turning the National Stadium (The Office) into a fortress.

That was the platform on which Captain Burrell galvanised his team and got the entire Jamaican populace behind the football programme.

Jamaica's 2010 World Cup campaign to South Africa starts next year and the JFF will have their hands full in getting the Reggae Boyz train up to full speed.

When Captain Burrell demitted office in 2003, Jamaica were ranked 46 and even reached an all-time high of 27 in August 1998. Now four years after, he is in charge of a team now ranked 103rd with a lot of work to do before World Cup qualifiers start next year.

Jamaica have plummeted down the world ranking mainly because of poor performances and a lack of games over the last year or so.

This inactivity has seen the Reggae Boyz slumped to their lowest ranking ever in the world, just behind Namibia (101) and ahead of Libya (104) after starting the year at 57.

Jamaica are now the seventh-ranked team in the Caribbean behind Cuba (64), Haiti (68), St Vincent and The Grenadines (73), Trinidad and Tobago (78), Guyana (92) and Barbados (93).

"We have to start dominating the Caribbean again. You have teams like St Vincent and Guyana ahead of us," remarked Captain Burrell.

He continued: "Once there is confidence in an administration the support will come."

but St. Vincent and the Grenadines beat the reggae boyz in Jamaica last year so there's a reason vincy heat are ranked higher

either way i like Cuba and Haiti's chances because they both have strong records away from home. that'll definitely be useful when the home and away series' kicks off.

I agree with warmonga, as long as they have Warner, the soca warriors will have a positive chance of reaching the hex.

Question: i thought the ban the TTFF put on the original national team squad was dropped. will they be available for the WC qualifiers?

If i had to pick 1 Caribbean team to reach the world cup, it would probably be Haiti.....their squad are even getting Costa Rica worried.  ;)

I'll be rooting for all the CFU teams though

not bad result, the team is definitely making improvements on both sides of the ball. It's great that tiga, norde, aveska, and the rest of the younger players on the squad are gaining some much needed experience with the final round of the 2008 CONCACAF Under-23 Championship coming up.

looks like CONCACAF has a new rivalry growing  ;)

After a 2:1 win at home against Jamaica, Haiti has successfully won Group H and have secured a place in the final round of the 2008 CONCACAF Under-23 Championship (Official Qualifier for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China). Haiti will represent the Caribbean alongside Cuba, which won Group G in Trinidad & Tobago last week.

I still think Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago are the CFU Elite, however i've noticed that the reggae boyz as well as the soca warriors have been recently struggling against their lesser known opponents from Barbados, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Grenada, and St. Kitts & Nevis.

To be more successful, what they need to do is to forget all this legacy crap and play to their abilities.

you can say the soca warriors will win but its easy to say that when you don't even know how good your opponent is.

true but the team has trouble scoring while Ghana's squad scored plenty of goals during the CAF U-17 Championships. unless they're playing for a 0-0 draw i don't see them making it out of this match. i hope yall win but i wuldn't put my money on it happening
