Police Fear Hollywood Rapist May Strike Again

CBS4) HOLLYWOOD A man grabbed and raped a woman at knifepoint as she walked in a Hollywood neighborhood, and police need your help in catching him before he strikes again.

The woman told Hollywood police she was walking early Tuesday morning near South Broward High School when a man drove up. She said he forced her into his vehicle with a knife, took her to a secluded area and raped her.

"I opened the door, it was dark and there she was screaming", said John Schwarck. He was awakened from his bed by a knock on the front door from the victim, who had no clothing on, and was pleading for help. She was dropped off in front of his home.

Capt. Tony Rode of the Hollywood Police Department said "the offender threatened to slit her throat" if she resisted.

"He told her if you don't do this, 'I'm stabbing you'," Schwarck said. "She didn't have nothing else to do."

Police fear this may not be the suspect's first attack and he may be ready to strike again.

Here is the description the woman gave of the suspect:
-Black male with gold crowns on his upper teeth
-Clean shaven, short hair
-Driving a gold Jeep Cherokee, with a flag of Trinidad having from the rearview mirror

Football / Copa America Preview
« on: June 26, 2007, 12:11:18 PM »
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=440462&root=global&cc=5901

The 42nd edition of the Copa America kicks off in Venezuela on June 26 with the expectation that something is about to change in South American football. Long neglected by footballing authorities in the region, the competition has undergone something of a transformation in recent years, and this year promises much.

The investment made by the host country is impressive. A lot of money has been put into the country's transport and communication infrastructure, while a total of three new stadiums have been built to hold the matches.

Indeed, with many of the smaller nations keen to build on some impressive performances in their World Cup Qualifying campaigns, the likes of Paraguay, Mexico and Brazil will all start the competition under new management, so there could be a few surprises.

Below is a team-by-team guide for the competition, which culminates in the final at Maracaibo on July 15.

ARGENTINA

With a full-strength squad expected to play in the Copa, Argentina are surely favourites to take home the title. They have a solid defence and forward players Carlos Tevez, Roman Riquelme and Diego Milito are all in great form. If they can rectify the lack of goals suffered by the country since the World Cup, then few would bet against them. Watch out for some all-out attacking football and incisive passing manoeuvres.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Lionel Messi - A key player and still so young, has the potential to be one of the best in the world.

BOLIVIA

Having finished bottom of their group in the World Cup qualifiers, Bolivia will not trouble too many other teams. Currently involved in a row over their ability to play at high altitude, perhaps their only hope is to starve their opponents of oxygen. Boasting only one quality top-flight European player, in Juan Manuel Pena of Villareal, they have failed to win in the competition since 1997, so don't expect fireworks.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Jamie Moreno - Plying his trade with DC United in the MLS, he will want to take his last chance in internationals and resurrect his career.

BRAZIL

All the headlines will be about the absence of Kaka and Ronaldinho, but the Brazilians still have more than enough resources to win the competition. Werder Bremen's Diego will be important, while Alfonso Alves has netted 34 times this season for Heerenveen. Some of the younger players will get a chance to broker their big move, although only four of the squad are still based in Brazil. Expect the usual Brazilian flair.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Robinho - Without Kaka around, all eyes will be on the stepover wizard. A chance to show why he's been lauded as the 'new Pele.'

CHILE

With a number of impressive young players in the squad, Chile could spring a few surprises under the 'bald strategist' Nelson Acosta. Boasting an excellent holding midfielder in Claudio Maldonado and Villareal's promising youngster Matias Fernandez, the Chileans have some potent attacking players. However, a lack of quality defenders may be their undoing and they'll be keen to show they are on the up after missing out on the World Cup.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Mark Gonzalez - The Liverpool winger has been a perennial figure at Anfield, but will surely be key to Chile's attacking play with his pace.

COLOMBIA

Recent history tells us that Colombia could be successful in the competition, having won it in 2001, and making the semi-finals in 2004. However, they have not been able to build any kind of creativity, shown by a distinct lack of goals. The door is open for youngsters like Hugo Rodallega or Edixon Perea to really make an impression on the tournament.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Ivan Cordoba - The Inter Milan defender is solid as they come and will lead from the back in everything he does.

ECUADOR

Qualification for the 2006 World Cup in Germany made the country a household name; but their recent record in Copa America has not been good. Reading's Ulises De La Cruz is perhaps their most well-known player, while Luis Antonio Valencia showed his skills (and yellow boots) to all with a move to Wigan. A lack of left-footed players could be cause for concern, but Ecuador will try to use their natural width to good effect.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Edison Mendez - The PSV midfielder has shown himself to be an excellent prospect. Boasting a fierce long-range shot, he will be key to Ecuador's success.

MEXICO

With both the Gold Cup and Copa America coming in quick succession, new coach Hugo Sanchez has made his intentiosn clear. Win the Gold Cup, semi-finals of the Copa, at least! Aiming high, they have Barca star Rafael Marquez to lead them forward, while Atlas' tricky midfielder Andres Guardado will cause problems on the wings. A tricky group may hinder their chances, but they have a decent record against South American teams.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Cuauhtemoc Blanco - The Mexican jumping bean has signed for MLS side Chicago Fire, watch out for his trademark trick and some kind of controversy.

PARAGUAY

Time for rebuilding as veterans Carlos Gamarra and Jose Cardozo have left the squad, while eccentric goalkeeper José Luis Chilavert retired in 2003. With an almost all-Mexican based defence, lack of pace is an issue, and they will rely on Bayern Munich striker Roque Santa Cruz to bang in the goals. Possibly too much for one man to cope with, although Paraguay are seen by many as the third best team in South America.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Roque Santa Cruz - The Bayern Munich star will have the goalscoring burden of a nation on his shoulders.

PERU

1982 was the last time that Peru made it into the World Cup, and their Copa America record is not much better. Another side embroiled in the row over playing at high altitude, Peru may find themselves in trouble, despite being placed in the easiest group. To make matters worse, Nolberto Solano has fallen out with the federation and will need to be placated if he is to play any part in the competition.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Jefferson Farfan - The PSV striker finished with 21 goals in the Dutch league and will be focal point of Peru's attacking play. Great pace and still only 22 years old.

U.S.A.

Having already said that the Gold Cup is America's priority, coach Bob Bradley is likely to treat the Copa America to an experimental squad. Boasting an array of talented goalkeepers, veteran Kasey Keller looks most likely to get the gloves for the competition, while Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey will be looking to continue his recent run of good form. Second round would be seen as a success, but tiredness will certainly play its part.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Eddie Johnson - The Kansas City Wizards forward may lead the line in the absence of Landon Donovan.

URUGUAY

A team in decline after failing to qualify for the World Cup, Uruguay will be looking to prove themselves in the Copa America. A hard-tackling and powerful outfit, they will rely on Pablo Garcia in midifield and Diego Lugano in defence. Forlan up front will provide the goal threat, and they have adapted a 4-3-3 formation all the way down to under-15 level to give the squads a common grounding. Need to fulfill their potential and keep all their players on the pitch.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Diego Forlan - Villareal's potent striker has attracted much attention with his goalscoring form recently. Will be a vital part of the Uruguay squad.

VENEZUELA

The hosts could not be happier with the arrival of the tournament, at a time when Venezualan football is on the rise. One of the teams to impress in World Cup qualifying, the side will be looking to use the competition to change their country's dependence on baseball as the major sport. They have the easiest group and contain much of the successful home-based Caracas team. Could be just the opportunity the country needs to impress.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Juan Arango - The only player to have made a significant impression outside of South America, the Mallorca midfielder was the team's top scorer in 2005/06 and will be the focus of Venezuela's attacks.

Jokes / Blonde Man Joke
« on: June 18, 2007, 09:01:48 AM »
Three business men were sitting in a bar, drinking and discussing how stupid their wives were.

The first says, “I tell you, my wife is so stupid. Last week she went to the supermarket and bought $300 worth of meat because it was on sale, and we don't even have a fridge big enough to keep it in!”

The second agrees that she sounds pretty thick, but says his wife is thicker. “Just last week, she went out and spent $17000 on a new car,” he complains, “and she doesn't even know how to drive!”

The third, a blond male, nods sagely and agrees that these two women sounds like they both walked through the stupid forest and got hit by every branch. However, he still thinks his wife is dumber. “I have to laugh when I think about it,” he chuckles. “Last week my wife left on a vacation to Greece. I watched her pack her bags and she must have taken at least five boxes of condoms with her. She doesn't even have a penis!!”

I just came across highlights of the 1996-1997 CL final between Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.
That was a boss game.

Andy Moller was a boss, Matthias Sammer was a boss, Riedle was a boss.
Juventus had Del Piero, Alen Boksic, Zidane, Di Livio, Vieri, Peruzzi, Ferrara.

Sir Alex Ferguson is confident Manchester United will create chances against Roma in Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg.
"We do recover from defeats and usually we recover well. Our attacking impetus will be much stronger than it was in Rome," he told the club's website.
"We will make opportunities, and if we take them we have a great chance."

There will be extra police at Old Trafford tonight after fears of revenge attacks on Italian fans.

Around 3,000 followers of Roma were expected at Manchester Airport on 14 chartered flights for the Champions League quarter-final second leg match against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men need to overturn the 2-1 first leg defeat in Rome last week to progress to the last four.

United will have to end a trend of failing to overturn first leg deficits having on five previous occasions gone out of the competition after losing in the first leg.

The home side will be without Louis Saha after he suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury in training.

Wayne Rooney, who scored United's crucial away goal in Rome, is set to lead the attack at Old Trafford with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer possibly partnering him.

Paul Scholes is suspended following his sending off last week at the Stadio Olimpico with Darren Fletcher set to replace him in midfield.

Gary Neville and Nemanja Vidic are both still missing in defence meaning John O'Shea and Wes Brown will continue to deputise.

Mikael Silvestre and Park Ji-sung are sidelined through injury, but Patrice Evra could return at left-back with Gabriel Heinze making way for the Frenchman.

Roma are sweating over the fitness of talisman Francesco Totti ahead of the game with the striker struggling with a hamstring strain.

Totti is set to undergo a late fitness test on the injury, but he is widely expected to play.

Roma are set to keep faith with the majority of the side that won the first leg with only the suspended Simone Perrotta being replaced by David Pizarro, who was himself banned for the first leg.

I couldn't find any probable line-ups.

Milan   -   Bayern

Two of Europe's heavyweights clash on Tuesday when Bayern Munich travel to Milan for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg.

Between them they have won club football's greatest prize ten times - and they both have recent successes to their names with Milan last winning in 2003 and Bayern in 2001 - coincidentally at the Giuseppe Meazza.

The odds appear to be against Bayern, though, as Milan have never lost to them in European competition. The match is also a repeat of last season's last 16 clash - which saw Milan triumph 5-2 on aggregate.

Probable teams
Milan: Dida; Massimo Oddo, Alessandro Nesta, Paolo Maldini, Marek Jankulovski; Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo, Massimo Ambrosini; Kaká, Clarence Seedorf; Alberto Gilardino.

Bayern: Michael Rensing; Willy Sagnol, Daniel Van Buyten, Lucio, Phillipp Lahm; Hasan Salihamidžić, Andreas Ottl, Owen Hargreaves, Bastian Schweinsteiger; Roy Makaay, Lukas Podolski.

PSV   -   Liverpool

Liverpool travel to Holland for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final with PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday.

It is the third meeting of the season between the two sides after they came up against each other in the group stages. The tie at the Philips Stadion ended 0-0, while Liverpool won the return game at Anfield 2-0.

PSV coach Ronald Koeman has a number of injury problems to contend with before finalising his side.

Star defender Alex is missing with a hamstring problem and Ivory Coast striker Arouna Kone is sidelined with a knee problem.

Dutch international Ibrahim Afellay faces a late fitness test after picking up an injury in last weekend's draw with NAC Breda.

Michael Reiziger, John de Jong and Alcides are all still sidelined for PSV.

Probable teams
PSV: Heurelho Gomes; Jan Kromkamp, Carlos Salcido, Manuel Da Costa, Sun Xiang; Edison Méndez, Phillip Cocu, Timmy Simons, Mika Väyrynen, Jason Culina; Jefferson Farfán.

Liverpool: Pepe Reina; Álvaro Arbeloa, Daniel Agger, Jamie Carragher, Steve Finnan; Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Javier Mascherano, John Arne Riise; Dirk Kuyt, Craig Bellamy.

A dream team of those departing
24 June 2006
by FIFAworldcup.com

It is a team that would surely have a good chance of lifting the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy – except that none of the players have a chance of appearing in the Final on 9 July.

They are all great players – and all are heading home from Germany 2006 after their teams bowed out at the end of the group stage. It is a shame for them and for the tournament because we all like to see the best players on show. FIFAworldcup.com pays tribute to their skills by naming this dream team comprising those players who left the tournament at the end of the initial phase.

Team (4-3-3): Cech (Czech Republic); Eboue (Côte d'Ivoire), R Kovac (Croatia), Vidic (Serbia and Montenegro), Lee Y-P (Korea Republic); Nakata (Japan), Yorke (Trinidad and Tobago), Rosicky (Czech Republic), Nedved (Czech Republic); Drogba (Côte d'Ivoire), Kezman (Serbia and Montenegro). Subs: Kawaguchi (Japan), Jaidi (Tunisia), Acuna (Paraguay), Baros (Czech Republic), Prso (Croatia).

Petr Cech has few rivals for the title of world's best goalkeeper and deserves to be the last line of our defence. Kasey Keller of the USA and Japan's Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi both pulled off great saves when their teams were under pressure but Cech, although he perhaps did not show it at this tournament, belongs in the elite band of goalkeepers.

In defence we have gone for the highly impressive Arsenal right-back Emmanuel Eboue who played every minute of Côte d'Ivoire’s three games. In the middle, Croatia captain Robert Kovac and Nemanja Vidic of Serbia and Montenegro - who could not bring his defensive strength and height to bear on Serbia and Montenegro’s behalf because of suspension and injury - would present a solid partnership in front of Cech. At left-back, Korea Republic’s Lee Young-Pyo wins the vote.

Enlarge Photo
Photo Gallery
In midfield places have to be found for Pavel Nedved who gave his all for the Czech Republic in their defeat by Italy which cost them a qualifying berth. Team-mate Tomas Rosikcy is another 'must' after his two goals against the US. Filling the other midfield places are Dwight Yorke, who adapted superbly to his defensive midfield duties and leads the stats table for tackles made, and Japanese star Hidetoshi Nakata.

In attack, Milan Baros warrants consideration as do Paraguay’s best-known player, Roque Santa Cruz, and Iran's world record goalscorer, Ali Daei. But Didier Drogba is one of the world’s best-known players and deserves his place in our XI for the skill, effort and leadership he has demonstrated on behalf of the Ivorians. Alongside him Mateja Kezman - an outstanding striker for club and country – wins our vote.
