Football / Re: U20s warm up with a slim loss to Joe Public

If we serious about being an international caliber team we must make the effort and expose our youths, we can go to mexico or even england play two games and be back home in aweek ,another thing we do not seem to realise [and this is not taking away from brian williams or hudson charles who are two of my heroes] is that the best coaches actually coach at youth level this  is often where the speed of a players development is dictated [australians have understood this in their sporting programs] we appear to put all our resources into making the world cup which i do understand, but we must make a choice if you put a half ripe julie mango to ripe it ripes quicker and tastes  very good ,if you leave it on the tree it takes longer but the taste leaves an lasting impression on your mouth people will look at you and know you just ate a julie.

from what i under stand he is in school in london ,if he ever manages to increase his speed and work rate he can be an international player of note he is technically gifted , the u20 has  talent they must  be made into a cohesive unit and at the right time players like silas spann abu bakr and stefan delas must be included ;any us based players must be fit and playing consistantly in at a high enough standard .i was shocked earlier this year when ron laforest's u20 played haiti the us  based players were slow to the ball ,unfit and did not fit in with the team[ with the exception of  cant remember his name the ex st anthonys player who was on the bench for the soca warriors against iceland]  these players while valuable must be carefully integrated in the team not brought in merely on past expliots in colleges league.

silvio spann is technically efficient enough to play in the english leagues his game how ever is better suited to the continental leagues o f holland aand portugal i always wonder why we do not get sscouts for these competitions looking at our players. truth be told sivio 's defense is not consistant look back at hte game against peru and the qualifying game against mexico when shaka 's net was burst by a man who was escorted by silviio. he does pack a power ful right footed shot but thereis no guile in his shooting and he only rarely the target especially when the ball is moving, while he does possess some athleticism his work rate needs to improve drastically if he is to be a success at the higher levels he must find a club regardless how smalll play regular footbal and work on improving his weaknesses time how ever is running out  25 is not so young n the world of football. if he does improve trini would only benefit having a fairly young player to join several others taking us on the road to south africa.

i agre4e with triniman , not to take anything away from soca warriors but up to the final world cup qualifiying phase  jamaica actually looked far more potent than trini they wre in harder groups and created, but squandered many goal scoring opportunities .i will repeat sides like ja and trini and now panama and canada are a bora, beenhacker or  simoes away from qualifying ,their is some talent but no systems or organistion of note.trini has the advantage over ja in that we seem to be producing more home grown talent ja always seem to be banking heavily on british imports .i know jamaicans are people who take pride in doing things the yardy way but when it comes to football the yardy way sems to have a british accent even their football video createdon reaching the finals in france was not totally jamaican.

i maintain no caribbean country has put the infrastructure in place to be a consistant threat in concacaf far less the world we are always a rene simoes ,leo beenhacker or now a multivinovich away from success . success will come to jamaica under the new coach when he goes if systems of administration and proper path ways to success are not put in place their football will drop ,trinidad be ware the same faith awaits you .i am currently studying in britain they are already putting things in place for the 2012 olympics ,china hve been preparing their athletes for 2007 since 1997.success with out succession is failure in dis guise.

elan and trini airman are correct fifa for all their corruption and short coming s have been fairly successful in making organised football a world game .the growpng importance of competitions such as gold cup ,caribbean cup and african nations cup are testimony to this .of course their is still racism and cultural superiority the running  of football those in power rarely abdicate .sports world wide are run by millionaire caucasions fifa included they must therefore be commended for their attempts at some sort of integration process however belatedly.the football loving world must watch any attempt by european power brokers to high jack the game .
their has been an increase in conservative politics throughout europe we all know the views of people such as the french politician le pen who argues therer are too many immigrants  on the french national football team, the large european clubs have been trying to ride on the financial  success of the champions league by suggesting a super league to rival the world cup,and club teams are currently trying to gain compensation from  fifa for injuries to their players during international games the results of these cases can change the face of football as we know it ,can this be a case of jumping from the frying pan and into the fire.before taking sides we must give serious consideration to the polkitcs of euopean and world football .the hither to unheard of involvement of
us and russian multimillionaires in english football ,countries  like trinidad may not have the privlidge of seeing the next generation of yorkes and latapys play in their stadiums ,the world cup may be reduced to a competition for the second rate stars of national teams as the brilliant players are under contract of these new super clubs .think about these things.

Englaned have some talent but their coaching an d whole philosophy of the game is outdated i am currently studying in britain, it amazes me that after playing a set of shit in the world cup and in euro qualifiers all maclaren and terry can talk about is pride and playing for your country, what about picking players who can pass the ball etc ,what about players who are capable of creating chances and breaking down defences ,they are one of the more back ward countries in the world of football that is their problem.they play a new system and keep the same players they are not inovative and very predictable .in the same way they say our sportsmen like too much flash theirs are boring and lack vision.

we are small islanders and we really have a small mentality,we arguing about a side, b side , and who just come from the world cup,  the size of crowd; but the real issues being missed .there are several reasons for poor turnouts some  are being revealed even as i write this ..nuff respect to jamaica for beating a competent team' but i am worried by the fact that you have dropped  afew notches, since your world cup experience your football has not taken off ,you still depend on average premiership players with jamacan heritage i still do not seee you developing home grown talent the real test of a footballing power.talk of these things not spurious and petty observations,/ :duel: :duel: at the end of the day both trini and ja have to put their houses in order.

while i do feel spann has the technical ability to be a consistant professional he must work on hi fitness and work rate on the pitch before he establishes him sefil i wonder if roy keane will be pleased with his defensive work in the middle of the park and his lack of assertiveness on the ball, i also believe spann and hiws advisors need to realise the besththing for him right now is to be playing ,why are so many t&t players out of contract or not training consistantly with their teams?this is a worrying phenomena.spann ,whittley and theobald put your money in the bank forget about it and play some football.you have millions more to make.

Football / Re: We could've beaten any concacaf team
« on: October 08, 2006, 02:09:07 PM »
We seem to be misreading th e situation this is a good win ,but we have far to go to call oourserlves the kings of the caribbean, we will always be among the best teams in the region we have the talent, the traditon and the infrastructure ;the point is we must set our level beyond just beating the st vincents of the world, but we must develop a standard where by we acquire the skill to execute against any oppositon in we meet .We have played an open game against st vincent can we sustain this against a different quality opposition ,good victory but our celebrations must be muted our players flew in from England and the US some of theirs drove in from SangreGrande ,do not right off jamaica they are still formidable oppositon who are having administrative and technical problems .We must reallise that jamaica, haiti ,trinidad and tobago ,martinique and guadeloupe are all only a ReneSsimoes or a Leo Beenhacker from turning success into victory no team in the caribbean has the systems in place to consistantly produce a standard o f play to have a permanent reign in the caribbean ala mexico in the concacaf region.Further more if our quality is to improve it would help if the caribbean countries  improve their standard of play.

I have a great deal of respect for gally  he and his fellow commemntators did make some valid points, they must how ever be reasonable at all times.Beenhackers decision to under play latapy is no different to gallys decision to leave Hutson Charles out of trinidad and tobagos team in favour of the defensive Elliot Alleyne on november the nineteenth. These are decisions coaches make when ever winning is paramount' or when they percieve weaknesses in their team that can be exploited by the opposition. There is a difference between criticism and condemnation ,Beenhacker did an excellent job with trinis team which was weak and technically deficient particularly in the defence.we were not ready to play open football but I agreet that shoiuld be our goal, does Vidale forget his exploits with trini teams in the caribbean cup did these teams play good football.I agree that phillips is being unfairly treated the administrators who hire coaches and decide  their terms of reference; Jack Warner and all 'have no clue what they are doing, they should get techinical assistance in making these decisions.

Football / Re: Where Does Jamaica Go from here ....they get bump
« on: October 02, 2006, 02:39:07 PM »
Jamaica is facing a mighty challenge, it is vital for them to implement development programs they cannot rely on English born players to carry them thriough every world cup qualifier,in the same they have developed home grown talent in Osafa Powell and Shervonne Simpson they must concentrate on doing likewise with their footballers.

228
wether they are in cahoots or not does not matter, the fact is jamaicas standard has dropped ,trinidad needs to look at how easy it is for the mighty to fall.It is essential for two lessons to be learned, firstlly doing well in a world cup means nothing unless systsems are put in  ;place to keep your level of footbal hjgh.Secondly if foot ball in the region is to get higher we need to have a strong jamaica, trinidad cannot get better on its own.
