I agree with your sentiments coops you are right is it the will we do not possess.

32
you ask some interesting questions, i would also ask you one. is trinidad and tobago a sporting nation, or do we just like sports ? if you follow most countries with any consistant success at international level you would see certain pieces of infrastructure actually being policy.we are trying to reach there but will our citizens view this investment as a worthwhile one?

33
you really BITTER in truth if you cannot for one frigging post try and talk positively of some ones successes, you and Willi are wicked men. can you not spend ah minute using a post for positive .to praise someone who give people twenty years of joy. oh god all yuh wicked!! the vengence ah  ah mokko on allyuh. no one say lara is a saint but is he a demon oh god you is really BITTER people like you does sicken my soul!!!!

2morrow i feel i will cry breddah... I watching Lara as my hero from 10 years old, i had de lara copy books, jersey, everything from that age.. these bastards take away my dream of seeing him play out his career in style..

God is de BOSS...

Pity you didnt see the real Windies play.

Yuh just start crying???? Steeeuuuppsss. Welcome to the club.

One man cricket show is still a circus.

As a true Windies fan, I want to see the return of the TEAM.
i take offence to you equating laras performances with a circus this post is about celebrating some one who has given 20 years service to west indies cricket, i also will be crying.he has been responsible for thousands of west indians choosing to play cricket instead of football  cricketers such as dwayne bravo and jimmy adams crediited him with being the biggest influence over their career.if you are michael holding in disguise get your ass off this site.

I hope Holding and Croft can sleep at night. In fact ah hope they nevr get another restful night. Idiots and haters them!
of course they could sleep at night ,and croft took blood money from south africa this is nothing to him. lara has made holdings career as a commentator, if he did not have lara to criticize he would have nothing of interest to say, blasted jumbies.

36
i hope all imps are happy now.they finally got what they wanted.

37
I just wonder how everyone else, especially the selectors are evading criticism? But they want to crucify Lara... I find this is bullshit and Lara wouldn't retire under such scrutiny, whythey cant let the man leave on his own terms..

God is de BOSS...

These people are ungrateful jumbies doh even bother to argue with them. They are unintelligent and resentful of their own heroes, you cannot reason with them i have been reading articles from all over the caribbean during this world cup 90 percent of these artcles choose to criticize lara rather than look at the real problems that plague our cricket. i am sad lara is gone but i am glad some one else will have to take the blame.if jesus was scorned by his own people who is lara.

« on: April 19, 2007, 02:32:26 PM »
christiano has the ability and is a wonderful player but it is premature and qute frankly disrespectful to all the world greats pele, maradona, di sefano, cryuff to label any player, a great after one or two terrific seasons. having said that the sky is the limit for this talented young man. recently i watched videos of pele and maradona believe me both these men earned their stripes .i also agree that the great man pele tends to talk some nonsense.l.

i agree with you fivers no way should ames get that vote ahead of dwight yorke.  dwight leading triinidad to the world cup final and performing as one of the top central midfielders weighs higher than ames performances while representing canada.i honestly am proud of ames's achievement but he plays for canada in those tournaments, and the world cup was perhaps the most prominent sporting achievement in our history.

at 18 he is simply amazing i agree with jai john if he was english he would be royalty .i would still give christiano the edge this year for his effectiveness in contributing to a winning season. but the sky is the limit for fabregas.ferguson said christiano has the talent of maradona and pele i dont dee it,fabregasa however with his champion league semi final performance and his world cup performance at 17 does hint at that kind of greatness .another one to watch is fernandes the portuguese who was on loan to portsmouth then everton earlier this year.

WHY ARE BLACK PEOPLE SO FOOLISH ENGLAND IS GOING TO USE THIS AS A CAMPAIGN TO DESTABILIZE LARA AND WEST INDIES CRICKET.WHEN MARK WAUGH AND SHANE WARNE ADMITTED TO SELLING INFORMATION TO BOOKIES,THE MEDIA SAID NOTHING, HOWEVER, IN THE PRESS CONFERENCE TO BEGIN THE SERIES AUSTRALIAN WRITERS ASKED WHY THE WICB ENCOURAGES LARA IN HIS BEHAVIOUR.LARA IS A TRUE HERO AN IMPERFECT ONE AT THAT BUT A TRUE HERO.MAY THE WHITE MAN RULE FOREVER.

I reading how Marcelle and Latapy wanting to create a football academy here, and i am thinking, this is what West Indies cricket needed and i not talking about something set up by the Cricket Board or any Gov't. I talking about those same legends who run behind a microphone or a tv camera and run the present team ragged with negativity. The reality is, that cricket will never get the kind of talent it used to have in the Lloyd days... Cricket now competing with Football, Basketball and other american sports for popularity within the youth generation, especially nowadays the video games and computers too, look how many of use spend hours just on this site everyday. We all love to watch cricket and go in the Oval and drink and lime and watch, but how many of us really want to stand up in the sun whole day fielding, chasing a little leather ball around a cricket ground.

I wish Brian Lara takes the time after he retires to set up one. Forget the Cricket Boards and the Governments..Doh wait on them. It doh have to be any expensive set up just an arranged time to meet up with our young cricketers and spend time with them and impart his knowledge not infront of a podium but in the nets and on the field. His sponsors will follow him to help I am sure. It is things like that that really imparts the appreciation for the history of the game which is what the current team lacks. If he does this, he will leave a legacy better than anything his bat produced.

brilliant observation during the 1970s wes hall and rohan kanbhai and others were coaching in the country districts all over the caribbean .before the stike squad in trinbago gally cummings use to go all over trinidad in a jeep coaching youngsters. these greats while they must have a wealth of know ledge and wisdom only want to coach west indies players .if any of them have been working in the grass roots we have seen no results yet .these same men talk about giving there lives to west in dies cricket.

it was sizzler i believe who said "everybody want to raid the barn no body want to plant the corn"
the bible said "a people perish for lack of vision".

Cricket Anyone / Re: My Test Team for the England Tour...
« on: April 14, 2007, 01:48:35 PM »
i would actually give chris gayle a rest to analyze his technique i will pick devon smith he has fair technique againstthe moving ball and deserves an extended run as does ganga we need reliable openers .bravo would only be considered for my team as a bowler because of his success on english wickets on the lasttour as he was the leading wicket taker. he would not be considered as a bats man(what i am saying here is if he cannot competeas a bowler drop him).i believe collymore and collins are also sure picks because of their ability to use swing to exploit english conditions.

on tour i cannot see the sense of having kelly, sammy hinds and bravo four unproven all rounders they as all rounders must be able to make my test teams as either a batsman or a bowler hinds maybe the only one who fits that tag. possibly  bravo as a bowler.

i also think sarwan as a potential captain and major batsman is a must on this tour he mustbe given the opportunity to come good he is some one i still consider a performer.

Cricket Anyone / Re: Ponting: Windies Training Facilities de worst
« on: April 14, 2007, 01:35:05 PM »

Did Lloyd have good training facilities? Richards? Holding? Garner?
Marshall? Croft? Roberts? Haynes? Greenidge?
Do you need me to call anymore names?

When each player is GUARANTEED $150K US for the type of
performance we've seen in the last 4 weeks, should we expect
better?

As the Indian cricket board have rightly done, their players will
be paid based on performance.
Kind of like how I get paid. I don't do the job, I eat salt!
i i believe that  the players are being paid the  going rate ifor nternational  crickeeters, they are professional cricketers with in most instances a short five or six year career maximum.their salaries now will also set the way for our future cricketers to be well paid and not have to play catch up as WIPA  have done over the last few years with much acrimony and heart break.i believe the solution lies simply in dropping non performers and those woth bad work ethic as simple as that thatis the only policy we need to follow.

while facilities is not the reason for our poor performance if we are serious about improving and are using countries like australia a nd south africa asa guage then we must examine our physical infrastuctures such as facilities and pitches. australia have reached where they are because of the holistic approach to the sport facilities included.i

I agree with your comment ATO ,not only in athletics but many sports great athletes are unable to make that transition to great coach. i howevr fully believe you have the ability to escape the fate of the others you have not just depended on your god given talent and training program you are also a true student of the sport and will succeed.

ATO i once heard you say somethig to the effect that you did not think you were a good coach .this confused me. your comments show an analytical mind and some one with a wealth of knowledge in their chosen field . i think you have qualities to in time become a brilliant coach.you have the ability to transform trinidad and tobago  athletics, if you get the support.

« on: April 12, 2007, 01:19:47 PM »
this position right now is a poison chalice sarwan has done well when given the opportunity but his form is not consistant. i believe ganga will make a good captain but i am worried bout two things firstly i will like him to cement his positionas a reliable test cricketer, secondly handling 11 trinis from your culture is different from managing 11 people with different way of seeing things(some real imps included) sarwean appears to be more of a natural rough neck i believe you need a portion of that to manage some of these fellas

holding, croft, garner, roberts and cozier are all jokers they can jump on a band wagon bashing lara but make very little contribution otherwise. they want to help west indies bowlers but have any of them ever opened a school or gone into the grass root areas and develop bowlers as wes hall and kanhai did throughout the caribbean. since their playing days they have contributed very little genuine shithounds. if they reallyhad the interest of west indies cricket at hand they would be coaching in moruga in demerara and trewlawny.damn jokers.

Cricket Anyone / Re: If Lara was part of the Lloyd era
« on: April 11, 2007, 09:16:34 AM »
WOLF MAN believe it or not i find your trend of thought admirable and there is a lagre element of truth in what you say.my comments and comparisms are based on principles of fairness i find lara is bieng unfairly blamed for the failures of our team,if i thought the comments were balanced i would have no need to defend lara.also i am amazed by the stories of lara missing team meetings and practice many people respond as if they were there and know these things for a fact i remember the acusations by the digicel representative they were proven to be exaggerated and untrue.sportsmen are humans and i do not believe they should nessecary be held at a higher standard than any one in life.i have made several mistakes in my professional and personal life and try not to repeat these and hope society will not dwell on them either
.
rudi webster refers to the media demonizing lara and this is exactly what i believe is happening and this is actually preventing assessment of the real problems that plague our game.i am also doubly sure that as talented as he is lara would not have reached where he was without a tremendous ammount af application to his trade. while i personally do not believe in hero worship of individuals for their god given talent i genuinely feel that lara has given us examples of sportsmanship and diplomacy that should be  admired.while there are several aspects of his lifestyle that i would not want my children to emulate i honestly feel he is not half as destructive as people claim . if the main issue is success or failure of west indies cricket lara is the one shining light in our team.i also believe those who do nothing but criticize him are doing so for their own ulterior motives and do not go beyond classing him as a great batsman.he has many defects but he has tried in his own way to carry himself with an acceptable degree of dignity.

the reason i will come to his defence is because contrary to what you indicate i believe a majority of people tend to drag him in the gutter.i appreciate your responding to me,like you, i think it is good when people can express their opinions and agree to disagree. i will defend lara as i believe he is often wrongly criticicized and will use examples  from other sports because of the unfair treatment he recieves from those who put othera on pedestals. an example of why i defend him can be seen in australias tour to the west indies after we had been humiliated in south africa. prior to that tour mark waugh and shane warne had confessed to giving information to bookies.in the first press conference, the foreign media asked the west indian representative if the wrong signal was being sent by giving lara the captaincy despite his infractions, no one in the local or foreign media asked any question about the presence of the australian vice captain and the third in command in leadership positions so soon after they had admitted guilt.

so forgive me for defending lara but i am interested in balance.the comment the comment you made, that i questioned was that lara has made his bed and should lie in it i disagree with this statement whole heartedly and find it an unbalanced one. if i were playing sport under lara's leadership i would look at his technique his practice habits ,his sportsmanship, his application to batting under pressured situations and i am positive i would have become a better player.laras bed is not a sqeaky clean one but he should be allowed to get a comfortable rest in it. i actually think he has earned that right. if jimmy adams and dwayne bravo amongst others, can publicly anounce that they owe a large part of their success to brian lara that tells you that he is no means a demon.

wolf man why do you say this? was viv richards or greenidge any more selfish than lara.that great west indies side also had problems that they faced, as during laras career there were times that they also  showed  indiscipline.the point is the poor performance of the west indies is being heaped upon one mans head this is not right.micheal jordan a great team? player has physically beaten up stave kerrduring training and berated his team mates to the press.humans are dynamic and teams are dynamic there is a false perception that a team is a stable entitity this often is not so and winning teams have had their problems.i honestly believe that for most of his career lara has given his best for west indies cricket .do people know that there have been times on tour when walsh and ambrose have refused to play in first class games, yet they are considered disciplined heros.garfield sobers in his youth also displayed human frailties that can be termed selfish or in disciplined.i can name champion sporting teams in any number of sports that have internal problems.

athletes are trained to perform under adverse circumstances.dwight yorke and latapy are hailed on this site as heros do you think either of these men are more committed to their cause than lara is to his.this should not be a time for lara bashing but rather a time for us to be sensible in our assessment of the problems of west indies cricket and i am not hearing many people talking about these things. kareem abdul jabaar and majic jonson disliked and did not speak to each other yet lakers built a sporting dynasty based upon these two men because they had sound systems in place and they were trained to peform.

Cricket Anyone / Re: Post CWC 2007; new era without Lara?
« on: April 10, 2007, 07:03:39 AM »
-R RAMDIN-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lara is not goin to be around forever. He is now 38 and at best has 2 more years left. Most teams make their plans of attack in 4 yr cycles beginning and ending with the world cup. Now would be an ideal time for West Indies to move onto a fresh era. They have nothing to lose. Lara stays on, we still get beaten 4-0 by England and continue to be rubbish for a long time to come. He leaves, which has no effect on the team and they still get beaten 4-0. There is a chance where the team could be galvanised, where the underperforming inviduals will finally realise they must perform otherwise they will get embarrased. Lara's presence in the dressing room could be the ting that is hindering these players from performing, who knows. His presence doesn't let Bennet King to have an influence which will improve west indies cricket. U all have mentioned how unfit west indies are. That is in part due to the fact Lara told King to reduce the fitness regime. A similiar situation happened with Man Utd last year. Alex Ferguson realised that Roy Keane had become a hindrance to the United team and dressing room so he got rid of him; let me tell u Man Utd weren't playing well at the time. After Keanes sacking the results speak for themselves; it galvanised

this does not make any sense

To FANTASTIC I uderstand your point however how do you explain a national under twenty team playing in arima right after world cup and the stadium is empty, football is also about entertainment. world wide the majority of players and supporters are from different backgrounds in most sports.as an avid follower of the professional league indians are actually some of the biggest supporters at games.

interesting posts by all especially john public.support for the leagueis important for it to grow.i have been out of trinidad for the last year and will be returning this month and i believe the situstion will be the same. while the world cup euphoria was high i went to a under 19 tournament with tt,haiti and dominica you could have counted the people with mayde four pairs of hands.i have been following football for most of my 37 years and apart from colleges league games and a few international tournaments the same people follow club football in trinidad.i also have lived abroad and am amazed by the intense conversations carried out by people who have never gone to a club game at home in their lives.it is about time trinidadians  and tobagonians inside and outside either contribute to building trinidad and tobago or shut their mouths.the vast majorityof those who were patriotic in  germany will not pay the 20 dollars to watch a  local game and buy some sno cone and pie( to help people eat a food). we are experts on fete perhaps we should stick to that . interesting posts by all.
