whttley did no go alone he had a manager a man i understand to be a levell headed person in wesley webb when i return to trini i shall ask him myself, but from his reports whittleys trial did not go that badly.by the way i am in no way a supporter of whittley and am privy to inside knowledge of this mans atitude. as some one who is intimately involved with several sports, i have  never heard of some one on trial recieving such adverse comments from a coach in the newspaper about their technical ability.i find this strange.

i agree that ganga should be captain but he has to make the squad....he is successful at the regional level but not at the test level...but then again the other batsmen not really successful at the test level..since we really have nothing to lose anymore, a channce should be taken on Ganga as WI captain.

Regarding Lara being left out so the other guys could step up...I don't understand that logic, sound like some crap Croft or Holding would say...Sarwan, Gayle, Chanderpaul run production should not be dependent on if Lara plays or doesnt play...or if he scores 200 or 5....until they step up or Lara stop performing, Lara's spot in the team is safe and well deserved.
well said very foolishly the inability of seasoned, well paid and supposedly trained sportsmen have been put on the presence of one player.we are not analytical and able to assess integral issues.if croft, holding, garner, roberts are the knowledge pool we have in the caribbean we will not reestablish our selves in the near future, they have knowledge but no foresight  and no understanding.

gayle as captain ,i am willing to listen to any options but the reasons given for gayle in this post are superficial.i have not seen one good reason listed for his captaincy.

Ti I am not doubting his success as a captain as amatter fo fact he is my choice of WI captain after lara goes.It is just i feel certain men are blessed with ability to lead this ability is often abused or not used others like ganga are sensible individuals who study the workings of  leadership and implement things in a systematic organized and very effective way, such people often start slowly and grow into the role of captain i believe ganga is such a person.i believe people like lara,ex QRC and West Indies youth keeper hermat ganga persad, imran khan, russel latapy are more naturally gifted leaders they do not always adhere to orthodoxy but thrive off natural instinct and inventiveness that people very often do not comprehend.

if clive lloyd or steve waugh had been captains of this current west indies team they would have been unsuccessful plain and simplei do not think a player  exists in the history of cricket with more bad mind than lara. i agree his personal lifestyle has at times in his early years conflicted with his role as captain but currently he is the head of an army that has been trained for an open air batle field only to be told that the war will be fought door to door.holding and croft as pseudo journalist have the authority to talk but if their comments are analyzed they are saying very little, their analysis of west indies cricket canbe compared to that of an elementary school teacher. i will recommend any one to go to a site www.chappellway.com and read rudi websters articles son that site.he and clive lloyd were rsponsible for wi's climb to the top of world cricket in the 70's,he is probably one of the most success ful sport psychologists in the world he refers to a phenomena he calls the DEMONIZING of brian lara.

BOTH SARWAN AND GANGA ARE ARTIFICIAL CAPTAINS i do not view either as a natural leader of men but i must admit ganga has apparently grown into the role of captain and seems to thrive off it.as for lara it amazes me we how we as  west indians talk highly of tendulkar, tiger woods michael jordan and do not give our  greatest sports man credit though we are quick to dwell on  his weaknesses(yet we choose to ignore ours) if a great athlete who has given so much to the game is still inform and capable of carying on as a player he should be allowed to do so. we forget lara had decided to play as a player and was asked to carry on as captain.

I am not going to attempt to justify whittltleys performance what i do find strange is that i have never heard a player on trial get such negative comments that is not normally the protocol.also whitley has been ontrials at portsmouth and other top clubs and has never recieved such a damning report. so i wiil try to keep this mans comments in perspective.

what stands out as peculiar tp me  in this situation is that the coach went out of his way to highlight otis's weaknesses,he has been to try outs in the uk with out  having such adverse comments. i have never in my life heard a coach make such public pronouncements on a player on trial ,the coach is obvously unprofessional and until i learn more i will with hold judgement.

he played for fatima in ssfl but was actually a transfer from a junior secondary(i am not sure which one).

71
firstly idoubt lara made that decision on his own, secondly even if it wasa bad decision do you really think that is the reason we lost that game.

He is a disgrace he is not worthy of being affiliated with any thing constructive. he had a brilliant career period. we should keep all players away from men like himself. he is uneducated in the truest sense of the word simply disgraceful

73
lara never initiated any conversation about selection it was the ignorant uneducated (in any terms)andy roberts who actually as a selector tried to lay the blame on laras feet .what does lara have to do to show the public that he is 100 percent committed to winning he is the best thing to ever happen to west indies cricket and is being blamed for the performance of an ill prepared team. what we are seeing here is a lack of skill acquiaition that should have  been developed in these men as teen agers.it has nothing to do with the side picked get off laras back

in december 2005 i witnessed jemmot a player of the highest potential practice with the national squad of bertil stclair he was overweight and off the pace in training.jemmot has all the skill in the world he needs to get fit by running ,running and running.an indian hockey coach once saw a skillfull but over weight trinbago hockey player at the commonwealth games and suggested the player should run around trinidad jemmot should start doing just that.

JUST COOL your posts are brilliant. people do not know their history those in positions such as kofi annon have not taken time out to inform the queen the pope and indeed the world what has been done to african people through slavery.the medicine in hospitals and the roads and railways in these countries were built mainly off the back of slavery.for four hundred years millions of the most productive citizens were removed from one country and brought to slave and be raped in another part of the world .while i do not know if reparations are possible i do know it can take the form of educational opportunities or grants to countries or governments it does not mean money in the hands of individuals.what hurts me is that some of my very own black people do not understand the effect slavery is still having on us now .like bob marley said  we must free ourselves from mental slavery noe but ourselves can free our minds.

if we cannot criticize fuentes for misleading articles(forget what his job is and if he is we friend )we lose the moral authority to criticize jack warner and his cronies. may be groden is just doing his job as well and camps has two mortage to pay.i realise plenty people are not serious about doing what is right, but let other considerations blind them.i now understand why jack warner has control of our footbal thanks guys you have helped me to see the light!!!!!!!!LONG LIVE JACK WARNER ADMINISTRATION AND GRIP OVER  TT FOOTBALL

we can catch them and getting players to the us should never be a trinbago priority.that should be a personal decision from players.what we need is to develop systems at home that can develop players up to 18 and 19 years.we have the human resource at home it merely needs to be developed in a s.ystematic organized way.

what you say is true, however from my knowledge of sporting organizations corruption is rife even in europe, dont feel it is just africa and concacaf. In places like europe individual owners of clubs some times have even more infuence than the national administrators.Again while i agree with what you say i still think there are other deep reasons remember proffesional football in some countries is well over a hundred years old.World cup football has been slowly opened up to all via more qualifying spots etc.with in the next ten years the face of world cup competition is changing.Do you not think roger milla could have played in any league in the world ?who is the best african national footballer we know(dont say eusibio)who ever he is there were 50 before him thatwe have never heard of(if not more). While i agree corruption and organization do hold them back.Europeans have never given up superiority in any thing easily.west indies cricket was highly criticized when our dominance became unbearable.fast bowling rules followed. So do not underestimate the force of politics out of europe.

Two things KND trinidad(not FIFA) is paying out their teeth for those due to arrangements made by jack and we did not need stadiums that large,we would have been better served by several smaller community stadiums.Secondly the corrupt practices involved in the building of these is frightening jack is lucky govt did not let lindquist handle this. HOWEVER We have the stadiums so we now have to put them to good use.

I donot think being a christian would hold him back ,neither he nor the church appeared to be against his playing football lucio, dirk kuyt, marvin andrews and numerous other christians were at the world cup i think it is more up to the players desire and motivation to recover and put through his rehab.if he is motivated he will come back in time and give us some needed technical ability.

excellent article posts by coops, maxg and others show an understanding of sport (football) and its role in society that few percieve.yes it is an age of economics but for success to come to us we need to revive this spirit .this must be understood by players ,coaches ,supporters and administrators.kindly post the other artcles in this series.
