I would like everyone to know why i am so concerned about what's going on with our Football,Suriname at one time was a power house in the region, their big man at the time was Andre Campervene he was also in charge of the region,he came and died and that was the end of Suriname as a Football country, they never recovered.I just wanted to mention that.

"Andre Kamperveen was assassinated by political opponents in 1982 and was succeeded as CFU President by Jack Warner.

  :o  :-X :-X

a chill went down my spine when i read that!!

i would like for Jack's removal from TnT football to coincide with his removal from FIFA, cause if he still in FIFA and we somehow manage to get rid of him...well as they say "hell hath no fury..."

With Jack gone from the TTFF and FIFA, we will be without the rich godfather to carry us, but i think its worth it in the long run.  We will be jus like all the other countries in CONCACAF with no Jack Warner and little money.
We go hadda make do, and play good football.

Would not mind making the trip up there, since I wukk in Philli sum times  ;D

I go be a die hard when they start pulling trinis 2 boot.

Miami had Miami Fusion but they folded...

I think Tallman or Supa could shed light (I think Supa or his family was good enough to play for dem or along them lines)

a go tell yuh part of the reason - they couldn't pull a crowd.

why? because they want to call demself miami fusion and play all de way in fricking lockhart stadium in ft. lauderdale.

their fanbase (de miami spanish) was in miami-dade county. back then (in the late 90s) the crew from dade didn't invde broward county yet (like they taking over now). we (i was living in north dade at the time) eh going all the way to broward (over 20 miles to the stadium) for no game.

i was disappointed when they put the team there. was planning to get season tix and all put then they put de team in blasted fort lauderdale. scheups.

I wasnt here in them days but i also think the times the games were scheduled might have been a problem.
lock hart is like 15 min from me now, i woulda real be liking myself.

I don't understand why MLS dislike Florida so.

Miami Fusion didn't fold it was shut down by MLS.  Frankly a lot of the decision making at the Fusion off the field was poor which led to the poor state it had become but I still feel that with the proper management in place the Fusion still could have been a success and MLS were too quick to pull the plug.

The whole thing left me with plenty bad feeling towards MLS and I haven't followed any MLS team since.

Florida also had the Tampa Bay Mutiny if i remember correctly, im sure south fl could sustain at least 1 mls team, especially now that the league is more popular

Taylor receives death threats after horror tackle
RivalsDM

Updated: February 25, 2008, 2:07 PM EST

Birmingham defender Martin Taylor has been the subject of death threats after his challenge on Eduardo left the Arsenal star with a broken leg.
Croatian fans, angry at Eduardo being ruled out of the Euro 2008 finals, are among supporters who have posted threatening messages on various internet sites.

One website specifically set up after the incident during Saturday's 2-2 draw at St Andrews has already received 27,000 messages directed at the former Blackburn player.

And security personnel had to restrain Croatian journalists who ran onto the road and tried to get into Taylor's car as he left the club's Wast Hills training complex on Monday.

But Taylor has received many messages of support from people inside the game of football which Blues manager Alex McLeish claimed had helped to limit the psychological damage he could have suffered.

"There has been a furore over the incident which has probably gone too far and we would like to draw a line under it now and let Martin get on with his career and hope Eduardo gets back as soon as possible," McLeish told Sky Sports.

"I've heard about the death threats and you are going to ridiculous proportions if that is the case. You've just got to get on with it and dismiss those things. There are some crazy people in the world.

"I think Martin's wife was upset at the weekend but he has come in this morning and got on with his life again thanks to the support of everyone who knew it wasn't a challenge with malicious intending to injure a player.

"We've had to rally around Martin because he was mentally shattered by the whole experience. I would have been worried about him coming into training today had we not received the support from football people the length and breadth of the country.

"But the fact he has had such magnificent support has helped Martin psychologically because I felt he could be damaged by this incident as well.

"We have shown as a club we are right behind the big fellow. We have rallied around him, got him back into training. It was important he did that as soon as possible."

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger retracted his post-match statement about Taylor whom he claimed "should never play football again."

McLeish said: "The fact Arsene has retracted them tells you the whole story. I did say after the game that maybe Arsene has acted in the heat of the moment and Arsene admitted he had done that.

"We've got to let that lie now, move forward and Martin has got to get on with his football career again and we are all right behind the big fellow 100 per cent and we are very gutted for him and Eduardo."

McLeish admitted that Taylor may have been unable to continue during Saturday's game had he not been given a red card by referee Mike Dean after the third minute incident.

He added: "Martin was horrified and, if the referee had given him only a yellow card rather than a red one, I don't know if he could have played on anyway. You just had to see the look on his face.

"He was horrified and it affected our players as well as the Arsenal ones. You've got to move on but it was certainly an horrendous injury and some of the players were horrified by what they had seen.

"I've seen similar injuries. Henrik Larsson had one for Celtic against Lyon and I could only think it is something similar to that.

"Henrik came back from that and showed he was a world class player. Eduardo is a world class player and he is definitely in the right hands and I am sure he will come back."

Birmingham striker James McFadden is backing Taylor to put behind him the trauma of unintentionally breaking Eduardo's leg.

He said: "Martin is not the type of player to go and deliberately injure someone. He doesn't have a history of being malicious.

"Martin is a gentle giant and to suggest otherwise is ridiculous. Martin has to live with the fact he has broken someone's leg unintentionally.

"Martin is cut up but he is a professional and he will bounce back."

Taylor will have to wait at least a month before he can return to action after he collected an automatic three-match ban for his sending off.

Sounds like Harry wants him

sounds like Harry realize he wasnt coach enough to get it out of him.

you really trying to compare KJ from before the WC to KJ now ?

No Im really trying to say that Harry giving Keane alot of credit for KJ's performances, having coached KJ as well.

Quote
Redknapp also believes Sunderland boss Roy Keane is someone heading to the top of the management tree. He reckons the former Manchester United hero's presence means his side will win their fight to stay in the Premier League this season.

And he lauded his success in getting Jones to fulfil his potential. Redknapp said: "I thought Kenwyne had everything needed to be a top, top player.

"It was all there – but I didn't know whether he'd put it all together. "He was relaxed and I didn't know if he was capable of getting out of that laid-back mode of his, but he's pushed on.

"He has got it all though, believe you me. "Look at him. He has the lot and Roy Keane has managed to get that out of him.

"He should be a top player and I think he is showing that now. "A lot of it is probably confidence. Roy is pushing him and pushing him, and he probably realises what he can achieve now."

It's really nice to see how foreigners/fans appreciate our players,if we can only get that at home our stadiums will be filled not only for international games but our club and all,i wonder how many autographs he signs when he at home, this is what makes players play the way they do,it's the fans, they can either make or break you,we are very quick to put down our players instead of lift them up,if players are to become stars they need encouragement, players that leave our shores improve because of the treatment they get out there,we take everything for granted, the fans are addicted to the game they grasp at anything a player has down to his Jockey shorts as a souvenir.

I dont know if its a matter of taking them for granted, but Trinis have never been a star struck people.  Thats why many celebs like to come to our shores cause then can walk around amongst the people and feel regular.  No setta papprazzi, or autographer seekers to bother you.
I remember back in the day when Tom Selleck was big in Magnum PI, and it had pictures of him on some beach from the weekend prior.  The man was in town jus chillin normal normal.
Boss, that wasn't really Tom Selleck. I remember them pictures in The Bomb. Was an impostor telling people he was Magnum. It take about a week before somebody point out that Tom Selleck doh have slick back blond hair.

doh make joke!!!
i always wondered why he spelt his name wrong on the autograph he signed for me  "Sellick"  ;D

We shoulda beat them 2-0

Once Arsenal wing backs wukking they does bring the ball up the field.

But I am very disappointed in our final 3rd of the field. Everybody fraid to leggo the lion...nobody want to pipe a bullet except Fabregas.

I dont like how they passing off the responsibility in the 18 yrd box.

All we need is a 1-0 away or a scoring draw. Arsenal will creep in easy easy to the 1/4 final.

We will purge people.

Milan now take a dose of Epsoms...we waiting for it to come out now.

Agreed !!!  My one criticism of Hleb. I found today he could have done more, when he run at Milan he was effective and if he did leggo bullet, they may have given him more room.

Hleb never shoots, he like the Steve Nash of that team, the point guard, drive and dish.

The man scoring alot of goals and has a major impact on their successful season and yet they stil criticising ???

i think its possible to score alot of goals and still be guilty of slacking and not playing hard.  If yuh have 16 and yuh slacking, then yuh prolly coulda have 23 with a lil extra effort.
I have never seen him play for them so I cant tell.
But I think this is the same problem many of us had with Stern, yeah he would bus the net, but damn the time in between that...frustrating.

its like my teachers used to say bout me in school  "the boy have potential, if only he would try harder"

Cali shoulda hold out for more money, business is business. And put one of them clauses in the contract that if he get sold abroad, they get a piece of that too.
but i seriously doubt that at his age, and with 1 cap thus far, that many european clubs go be looking to bring him over.

« on: February 19, 2008, 09:32:41 AM »
Allthough I agree with sentiments in general, let us noyt forget that the reason this game is being organized (if JW is right) is to celebrate the 100th year.  Without the centennial celebration, I would say Yorke and Latapy aboslutely not.  However, nothing wrong with showcasing them for a ten minute sweat, then getting serious for the next 80 minutes.  Don't tell me that soehow that will nullify all the plans the coach have.  Again, my objection is that hthis should even be discussed in the media at this point.   Jack should talk with Maturana and shut his big mouth.

yuh really think them men flying all the way back here for a 10 minutes?
is that even fair to them, if they playing let them at least sweat a half. it go jus be a half a future player doh get a sweat.
there is however a simple soltuion to this problem, the TTFF jus have to make sure there are enough other games with which to prepare the team.

If the Trini fans were as passionate, they wouldn't get a mere turnout of 5,000 spectators to watch their best players in action. Maybe a Trini team  would also have won CFU champs instead of HVIEW as the 12th man would've factored in. PMU perhaps has more supporters than Trini national team.
