I didn't want to say it...why you say it for?

Funny enough the teams here seem to be attracting alot more sponsors than the TTpro league. I noticed companies like Shanghai Construction are sponsoring teams. I wonder how this league got sponsors on board so easily?  ::) ::)

Ever notice how all the groceries look the same and they have some nondescript name like "happy". Those things are there simply to suck up our money and send it to China.

Nah it has to be more than that. Is it even economically viable to have so many so close to each other. That one in massy stores is only 5 minutes away from the one in Trincity Mall. Is this what the business elites consider innovation etc in Trinidad? Steups

I think it's time we really lobby against these types of practices...Our health institutions can't deal with these lifestyle diseases now farless for 10-15 years down the road. Children nowadays are close to obese and they don't play outside anymore. We never did any major studies on our foods such as roti etc which I believe rival western fast food in terms of unhealthiness.

I don't know how all these fast food places making profits so close to each other. Not to mention the numerous other food joints littered all over the place. Trinis doh know how to bubble a pot anymore or are these food places just laundering fronts.

The scary thing is that the same people in charge of these franchise are also big players in the local pharmaceutical industry and they benefit from CDAP etc. They are effectively ensuring their demand.

I wish we could limit the amount of these imports from coming into the country. I really don't understand why we can't encourage other local franchises such as Japs etc to grow and expand. The operations are usually similar. The only thing different is the name. I'm really fed up of all these imports and money leaving the country in such silly ways.

Sancho playing corruption buster whilst serving in what is arguably the most corrupt government in our nation's history.  :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Why he doh dig up in LifeSport and supply us with some answers?

Oh and by the way "Carapo endorses Brent Sancho"....LOL...would be interesting to see how that link plays itself out.

Is time they stop going to the hood and giving black youth a ball like that is all they are good for..Go and give out books and mentoring...Provide skills and jobs...Hold parents especially fathers accountable. Lower the crime in these areas so kids could sleep at night and not worry about hearing gunshots. I hate to see politicians going to these areas and giving out sporting memorabilia and building basketball courts. Y not given them club membership or access to Queens Park cricket club. Since when is giving away a ball "changing" someone's life.
He should have gone up there with a couple volunteers ready to help with homework.

I didn't know that America was the only place that trini students were looking to go for further education. What about the hundreds of trinis who have graced the hall of universities such as Cambridge, Oxford, Lse etc. Since when have trinis not been good enough. Trinbagonians have distinguished themselves academically all over the world. What we have here is a symptom of laziness where the "baller" believes that football and by extension SSFL is the be all and end all of life so he/she neglects their schoolwork. With the right guidance and tutoring, they could more than make the grades to gain good scholarships.

When did it become the job of the SSFL to produce players for national selection? I thought the SSFL like other school sports was to nurture a student into a more all round individual? If the pro league clubs want to invest time and money to develop and nurture their own players then so be it. We can't be blaming the standard of the SSFL for our football woes.

Let me ask a serious question. Can it be considered unpatriotic to turn down an offer by a prime minister to serve in his/her administration? I wonder if people feel forced to take up posts when the pm calls..

Man gone in the jeps nest too... Ministry of Sports/ Lifesport and all that.

Arguably the most corrupt and deceitful administration that has ever governed this land and Sancho and Alfonso run in there with open arms.

The sad thing about it being their appointments being nothing more than attempts to distract the population from the very serious allegations of misconduct facing the AG. The first AG to be facing criminal charges.

Steups....You really allow yourself to be a pawn in this game bai....In this day and age? Cut ur locks too cause ur shaming us rastas.

Were Hyland, Cyrus, Molino etc academically inclined or were they more concered with putting food in their mouths and money in their pockets?
I think a case could be made for sending players/footballers to the US for scholarships at the age of 16 instead of 18/19 etc. Also remember that different people have different priorities. I think Paul and DeSilva would have attended St Mary's College and completed their advanced levels. Compare that to players like Molino, Hyland etc who would probably be attending their school with one purpose only, football and ssfl.

Hmmmm let me see

The sports ministry under which the controversial Lifesport program falls all of a sudden gets a new minister of sports? At the same time the AG, whose name has been mentioned as being part of a wider conspiracy involving this same program is relieved from his position.

We all know this AG was the bulletproof of this government. Wonder what they trying to hide in Sports Ministry that they need to remove a sitting MP from being minister to bring a newbie....A newbie with links to a favored government contracting firm as well. With only a couple months to go before election, this reshuffle was necessary?

Isn't asking for foreign intervention the same as a asking a character like Abu Bakr to rise up and take action? We seem to be confused on what it is we really want in this country.

Who SIS? The same Lalla that was dead broke and close to bankruptcy before the PPG got into power? That SIS?

The same SIS that built both the Prime Minister and the pumpkin planter house in Tobago, all the while hiding their logos and emblem whilst on the jobsites? That SIS?

The same SIS that a couple months ago held "community outreach" events in areas that coincidentally were traditional PNM strongholds? The "outreach" included a box of buss up shut and a football sweat. That's the SIS alluh talking abt?

Work permit is an immigration issue. They don't care whether you are coming to play in EPL or Sunday league, same rules apply. I'm guessing Belgrave also has Uk citizenship or some other form of european ties. I wish him good luck.

PM to consider removing visas for Chinese

Dinner marks 40 years of diplomatic relations

Chinese nationals who want to visit Trinidad and Tobago will likely soon be able to enter the country visa-free, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has said.
She was speaking on Sunday night at a celebratory dinner held for 40 years of diplomatic relations between China and Trinidad and Tobago, as well as in honour of the visit to Trinidad of Chinese Deputy Minister for the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, He Yafei.
Among the guests at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s were Chinese Ambassador Huang Xingyuan, his wife, Ma Li, several members of Cabinet, and prominent members of the local Chinese community.
The first diplomatic mission from China to Trinidad was established in 1974 while Trinidad and Tobago’s first embassy in China was opened in February
Persad-Bissessar said following concerns raised by the Chinese government about the difficulty its nationals have had to acquire a Trinidad and Tobago visa, the option to allow Chinese travellers who have already qualified for United States visas or otherwise, to be exempt from needing a Trinidad and Tobago visa.
She said this will be considered for the first phase as an initial “filtering process” until complete removal of visa requirements. But, she added, if Trinidad and Tobago is to allow Chinese nationals into the country visa-free, this country will expect some sort of reciprocity for our nationals to enter China visa-free.
Persad-Bissessar noted that on her official visit in February, visa restrictions were a main concern for Chinese officials.
“Before we had no embassy, now we have one. But China is a vast place. Previously (visas would be obtained) out of London or elsewhere, how difficult that was for a Chinese national to visit Trinidad and Tobago. That didn’t stop them—the Chinese have fortitude,” she quipped, in reference the ship on which the first Chinese indentured labourers came to Trinidad almost 208 years ago.
Persad-Bissessar noted that Jamaica had already removed the visa requirement for Chinese nationals to visit.
“What does that mean? Their business and tourism sectors will grow tremendously from the influx of Chinese who will come to invest and visit,” she said.
She also noted the several major construction projects underway throughout the country, with Chinese firms as the main contractor, including the Couva Children’s Hospital, the National Aquatic Centre, the National Velodrome (both also in Couva) and the UWI South Campus in Debe.
“I see the Couva Hospital rising so quickly as I (travel) up and down the highway several times a week and feel so proud. I look forward to it opening later this year” she said.
She noted that there have been concerns from the national community about nationals from other countries coming to work here and whether the foreigners are “boxing bread out of the mouths of the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.”
“We have serious shortages of skilled labour in many areas and perhaps in some of these fields this is where we partner together (with China). This is why I was very happy (both governments have) discussed the possibility of having medical personnel come to Trinidad for partnerships because we have a serious shortage of doctors, nurses and others engaged in the medical field.
“So whilst some may be concerned I would say what we are about is development of Trinidad and Tobago and to partner with other nations who are developing (with whom we have) bonds of friendship and diplomatic relations. I say this to underscore: let not your hearts be troubled,” she said.

n Chinese Deputy Minister for the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, He Yafei also delivered remarks, saying he saw a “wonderful future” for the mutual development of both countries.
He noted there were two reasons for the “special relationship” shared by the two countries: Both are developing countries whose economic power has been growing with the shift in global and political power after the financial meltdown in 2008. Both countries also have a deep-rooted friendship, he said, strengthened by the contributions of the Chinese community to all aspects of Trinidad and Tobago’s society.
n He also brought along special Chinese chefs who showed of their culinary expertise, carving figures, including birds, from vegetables like turnips and carrots.

I think our police officers need better training. Saw the boys bodies on Ian Alleyne's show on tv. One of the boys had multiple wounds. Even if the police are moving in multiple teams I don't think that every police officer should get a shot off. It's amazing that police in a country like England can be responding to reports of a british soldier being beheaded by Islamic terrorists and still display restraint to subdue the perpetrators without resorting to lethal force. That is amazing policing.

Not to make excuses but that is easily what any facebook profile of someone around that age living in that area. It's not their fault that they've been conditioned to look up to that sort of life. Our radio stations haven't stopped supporting vybz kartel music/ songs even though he has been convicted for a heinous murder. We are a very hypocritical society.

What if we are playing England in a friendly at Wembley and in meeting the English Fa officials one of our players were to bow to Prince William? What if Prince William is that player's idol? Would we have the same reaction?

I don't think the bowing itself was bad. I think that the timing of the gesture was inappropriate. If after the game he wanted to stoop and kiss his feet then I don't care but before the game he shouldn't even be in that groupie mindset. I think some of us lack a basic level of sophistication when dealing with situations. That's the same lack of sophistication that resulted in everyone rushing for a seat on the flight whilst leaving two members of the football staff stranded. He didn't just bowed, he also clapped, cheered and "thumbs up" on the other players coming after Messi. He looked seriously overwhelmed by the occasion.

Anyone talking about where Guerra come from etc. His story is not that different from the countless other sportsmen who cam from humble and rough backgrounds.

All this is just talk. Next time we playing USA, a player should bow to Michael Bradley or something so. Let's hear what people have to say again.

I relll not seeing those comparisons though. I would like to see Jack Wilshire bow to Nasri whilst representing the national team before competition then see and hear what the British and french societies make of it. Those comparisons are BS.

The funny thing is that on a field of play, everyone is equal. That is probably one of the few instances where everyone taking the field is subject to the same laws and rules. The before game greeting and hand shakes are already there as signs of mutual respect.

You mean all those players to ever encounter messi after all these years and only one player actually bow to him? Everyone respects and admires the genius that is Lionel Messi but when you are acting on behalf of your country in a competitive capacity you don't have to bow to anyone. The man bowing and acting all giggly at the other players coming after Messi showing thumbs up etc.

You feel if any other serious country had a player that made this gesture and then gone on to lose the game wouldn't be in uproar. This is already trending, meaning it's not an ordinary gesture to make before competition. I don't care that it is a friendly but you are representing your country. This wasn't a fete match or charity game.
