What about Track & Field / Men's 800 m
« on: August 10, 2012, 01:10:30 PM »
Rudisha was sensational but the 2nd and 3rd places went to teenagers. The times these guys ran were unbelievable for teenagers. Those who tried this event will know what I'm talking 'bout.

Cricket Anyone / New faces for the 4 day game
« on: January 25, 2012, 03:46:26 PM »
I know the current team is young, but it would be good to see some new faces in the squad for the 4 day game. Particularly when a few of them go off to the BPL. I have heard a lot about Shannon Gabriel and would like to see him get a bowl. Any other up and coming stars I should look out for?

Cricket Anyone / Who to drop to make way for Bravo and Pollard
« on: October 05, 2011, 10:11:05 AM »
The team has a good fighting spirit, but Bravo and Pollard should be picked on merit if available. I say the Ganga brothers are the ones that should make way. But we know how much politics there is sport in the caribbean.

What about Track & Field / IMHO Jamaicans on 'juice'
« on: September 17, 2011, 04:06:14 PM »
History will be the judge, but too many of their sprinters are running ultra quick times. That 19.26 by Blake, yesterday, confirmed it for me. The guy did not even look 'flat out'.

Remember, Flo Jo, Marion Jones and the chinese middle and long distance runners in the 1990s never tested positive.

What about Track & Field / Home or away?
« on: September 01, 2011, 12:46:39 PM »
I think locally based athletes like Jehue Gordon, should go and train in the US if they want to be be main contenders on the world stage. Our local facilities, calendar, competition, and coaching is simply not up to scratch. When was the last time a locally-based athlete actually medalled at a senior championship?

Has 2 different T&T athletes ever won individual medals at the same world or olympic games? If so, who were they and what was the year?

Cant believe the times this 15 yo kid running for 400M. All he needs now is a good coach and to remain focus and he will surely be a main contender in the seniors in a few years time.

2010 World Cup - South Africa / Was this the most boring WC ever?
« on: July 08, 2010, 06:46:51 AM »
How many truly memorable matches were there? Not many if you ask me. Too many teams were ultra defensive. Germany and Ghana were the bright sparks in an otherwise dull tornament.

17
Should they represent the WI? Will such a team be considered a WI team? Would you support a WI team made up of all Jamaicans if they were the best players we can produce at the time?  I think that may be part of WI problems. I know this scenario is unlikely, but certainly food 4 thought.

Cricket Anyone / Pollard denied greatest cricket catch...ever
« on: October 23, 2009, 02:12:18 AM »
Anyone who saw that 'almost catch' by Pollard in the 14th over against the Cobras would have to agree that if in fact that ball did not touch the ground, it would have gone down as the greatest ever cricket catch. The man saved a certain 6, fling the ball back into play, sprinted and dived to catch the ball. I think he genuinely caught it and the ball did not touch the ground. But if there is doubt, the batsman have to be given the benefit of the doubt. All the same, Pollards commitment alone is worth watching over and over.

Have a look at 4:20 on the second clip

There is not one news story on their website about the CLT20, let alone T&T success thus far. Yet The ECB (England's equivalent) does http://www.ecb.co.uk/news/world/eagles-v-tt,308179,EN.html.

Oh jeezanages WICB, stop making we feel shame nah!

What about Track & Field / Hitler must be turning in his grave
« on: August 23, 2009, 03:15:56 AM »
Hitler believed that the 'aryan' race were superior in all aspect of life including sport. We all know how Jesse Owens humiliated him at the 1936 Olympics by winning 4 gold medals and beating his supposed superior aryan athletes. 73 years later, there is one common denominator of most if not all the track finalists and medalists. From the 100M to the marathon. Both men and women.

If he was alive today, what would be be thinking????

Senegal fans riot after World Cup qualifying exit
21:52 BST, Sat 11 Oct 2008

By Diadie Ba

DAKAR, Oct 11 (Reuters) - Angry Senegalese fans attacked the country's soccer federation headquarters on Saturday, smashing windows, after the national team was eliminated from qualifying for the 2010 World Cup by drawing 1-1 with Gambia.

After the draw, which also eliminated the Teranga Lions from the next African Nations Cup, furious supporters set up burning barricades around the stadium and clashed with riot police who fired tear gas and charged them with batons.

At least one person was injured, witnesses said.

Senegal finished third in Group Six of the African zone second round and failed to progress to round three.

The rioters stoned the Senegalese Football Federation building and also torched a bus outside, Col. Abdoulaye Fall of the local gendarmerie said.

Senegal, who reached the quarter-finals of the 2002 World Cup, took the lead in the second half of their qualifying match against West African neighbours Gambia with a goal by Abdou Kader Mangane, which set off celebrations in the home crowd.

But the mood turned ugly when Gambia's Scorpions equalised through Tijan Jaiteh five minutes from the end.

Fans started tearing down publicity billboards and fencing and threw stones, sticks, bottles, metal bars and debris onto the pitch. Baton-wielding police tried to restore order.

The Senegalese supporters then blocked a major highway outside the stadium with burning tyres, rubbish and rocks, and black smoke filled the sky.

"Senegal is eliminated, they played a zero game, we're tired of it," said one disappointed fan, Alassane Ndiata, 18.

Senegal also failed to reach the finals of the 2006 World Cup, a disappointment which triggered intense criticism of the players and the federation.

Football / If Eboue could score a goal, anyone can
« on: September 21, 2008, 02:21:16 AM »
I never thought I would live to see Eboue score a goal for Arsenal. Week in week out this guy has been pullin Arsenal stones. Now all that is left is for Bleeder to score for T&T and it will be proof that miracles can happen. :rotfl:

What about Track & Field / That welcome celebration was OTT
« on: September 08, 2008, 11:31:11 AM »
Nothing against the athletes, they did the country proud. But what would we do if we won 6 gold medals?

27
With his 2 silvers, he has bettered Ato's silver and bronze in sydney. I dont think any athlete has ever bettered that. The fact that he won 2 medals at his first olympics, must also be a record for T&T?

28
What about Track & Field / Race and sprinting
« on: August 21, 2008, 08:34:56 AM »
I am not a politician so  I could ask this questions. How is it that sprinting is dominated by decendants of west africa, but not by west africans themselves? I do not think a west african (Nigeria, Ghana etc) ever won a senior world title.

When was the last time a white man made the 100m final in the olympics or worlds?

Is sprinting about nature or nuture?

29
What about Track & Field / Why our female athletes cyah make the grade?
« on: August 20, 2008, 11:26:29 AM »
Trini women athletes are yet to make any major T&F final. How come Jamrock and Cuba women can but ours cant?

30
Are these youths so bad that 1 or 2 of them cant get a cobeau sweat from time to time on the senior team? Is not as if the current senior team are starlets. I say give 1 or 2 guys who played in the under 17 WC a chance to hone their skills at the senior level. If Dwight could ah make de strike squad at 17 (Ok ah know he is an exception), so I think we should give the youths a chance.
