Any update on Bostock? Supposed to be resolved today.

Do they ever really announce these kind of things before it's time to call up a team?

If memory serves, we heard a few weeks in advance that Bostock would be representing TT for the March games. If everything was fine and ready to go with Bostock, the TTFA would have written a press release about it by now. Maybe, they got word that he is now eligible and keeping it quiet about it. Or, Bostock has had a change of heart. Or the English FA is just taking their time to approve it. Regardless of the situation, I think his future with TT is in doubt.

I watched the game and the commentator said that he's now a Trinidad & Tobago international

Once again I keep telling allyuh.. See all dem players man does come in here and rate up and beg for them to get more time, these players are overrated. Stop begging for your individual player because when its time for them to show up and play for national team against quality opposition they end up playing shit. Man in here does come and beg for Plaza and De Silva. What exactly are they begging for? steupse

No De Silva fan but he's been okay. Which is more than I can say for the majority our players.

I asked on another thread but can someone explain how he qualifies for a T&T passport? Weren't there other players who had a grand-parent who was Trini but didn't qualify for a T&T passport because we only accepted parents for qualification (unlike most countries).

Any body making the short run over to Vincy for the game? I going. Back in time for the home leg.

$182.50 USD for return ticket (Fri - Sun). My parents are Vincy and I've been to St. Vincent many times, as recent as August last year. They are really excited about the game and believe they have a chance.

A man with a Trinigrandmother could get a passport and yet another player whose father is a Trini can't get one as yet ! Nah I eh buying that story. This sounding too much like a "Zamora"  soap opera .

Ps I born day and all the frigging paperwork to get a passport is unreal! Ummmm

I also thought you could not get a T&T passport from a grandparent? Didn't we have a number of players in the past with a grandparent from Trini that were interested in representing us but were not able to because they needed a parent that was Trini. I don't think I imagined this.

Bring tears to my eyes!!!!

There's a 2012 video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6K4qXaDnIM

From what one could deduce (only conjecture) from both videos, an improvement of the relationship between the two would seemingly have had some impact in this decision to represent us.

Random question. For next year's Centennial Copa America, would reaching the semi-finals mean we qualify? USA, Mexico, Costa Rica and Jamaica are already qualified for that tournament.

Well Rowley will be happy to see the political bait he put out there has been gleefully snapped up. I'm not saying the MoS doesn't have a degree of culpability or not but the primary reason the state of football is in the mess its in is because of the TTFF/TTFA's lack of accountability, transparency and regulatory structure for donkey years now. Its with a high degree of hilarity that Rowley thinks he has the moral authority to comment on such matters, kettle calling pot black imo and politicizing the matter does absolutely nothing but take away from the deep and serious discussion needed around the state of our national football program. Imagine our men's team on the brink of winning a title and qualifying for a historic tournament and our women's team on the brink world cup history as well and people trying to gain political mileage.

Totally disagree. That could never be a fair price and the "logic" for the price is total BS.  :flamethrower:

So what would be a 'fair price'?  When the Men's National Team hosted their qualifying leg against Bahrain the price was $300 covered stands, $150 uncovered... and that was nine years ago.  People spending $100-$200 TTD to go Movietowne but can't/unwilling to spend that to support the women?  The TTFA has its faults, but people need to stop and re-assess their attitudes too.  Even at $40 a ticket they not going to watch Pro League football.  Central just had a match where admission was free, people still eh come out.  So tell me, what would be a fair price?  And no, pointing to what Ecuador did hardly aids the conversation, there economy and the financial situation with their football much different from ours.

Also, am I missing something in the article?

The admission fee of $200 and $100 mirrors the price for Trinidad and Tobago’s vital 2006 World Cup qualifier against Mexico on 12 October 2005 when Stern John’s double got the “Soca Warriors” into a FIFA Play Off against Bahrain. Tickets for that historic match, which also featured icons Dwight Yorke and Russell Latapy, were sold out.

The price for Trinidad and Tobago’s first leg clash with Bahrain in 2005 rose to $300 (covered) and $150 (uncovered) and there were over 5,000 fewer spectators for the contest in Port of Spain.

Is he saying that there were 5,000 fewer spectators in the TnT leg of the Bahrain tie than there were at the Mexico game? Unless I'm misinterpreting this, that is so far from being accurate. We all know the Bahrain leg was utter chaos and oversubscribed.

I remember reaching to the Mexico game when anthems were playing and still got a good choice of seats. Whereas the Bahrain game .......well those who were there know the level of drama surrounding that game.

Two Gold Cups in a row, I have to give thanks for that!
Let's get the trophy too fellas.

Yeah. We aint lift that trophy in a while.

Btw.. Cuba 1-0 Curacao. A tie in that game will see us thru to the final.

1-1 now

Cuba 2-2 Curacao. I hope it stays.

Cuba pulled it out of the bag, they scored with the last kick of the ball. 3 - 2. They're on 4 pts now.

Their second goal was a very well taken free kick. Very little could have been done about that goal. But French G created a lot of other chances. They hit the post twice. I am a bit concerned because all this happened when they were down to 10 men.

Football / John Bostock Thread
« on: March 08, 2013, 01:23:52 PM »
Toronto FC acquires midfielder John Bostock from Tottenham Hotspur

Toronto FC acquired midfielder John Bostock on loan from Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League on Friday.

He will be officially added to the roster and eligible for selection upon receipt of his International Transfer Clearance.

“I know John from our time at Tottenham and we are very excited to have him in Toronto,” Toronto FC head coach Ryan Nelsen said in a release. “He is a creative player and he will fit in well with the club.”

Bostock, 21, most recently spent time on loan with Swindon Town FC of England’s League One. He began his youth career at Crystal Palace FC and signed with the first team for the 2007-’08 season.

Tottenham purchased Bostock ahead of the 2008-09 campaign and he became the youngest player in club history to play for the Spurs. He played a UEFA Cup match against Dynamo Zagreb at the age of 16 years 295 days.

Since joining Tottenham, Bostock has gone on four different loan spells in England with Brentford FC (2009-10), Hull City AFC (2010-11), Sheffield Wednesday (2011-12), and Swindon Town (2012-13).

He was part of the Swindon Town’s League Two Championship winning side in 2012 and was returned to Tottenham in January.

Bostock has represented England at the under-16, U17, and U19 levels. He also served as captain for England’s U17 side.

I see Shwan Wright-Phillips and Aaron Lennon are both listed as 5' 5" and Jermaine Defoe is 5' 6.5". They all seem shorther than that.

It is worrying the number of players that slip thru the cracks of our national youth system and can be deemed good enough to get trials abroad.

Its not as if we have a very large talent pool.

is this him

Yeah that's him. He's already in the states getting ready. I don't know how he can say he's 'unattached'.  ;D He was leading scorer for my team. Hope he makes it. He never had a national call up on any level, he's a real speed merchant.
