asylum is correct. Got this from Wiki.

Interestingly, the Cornish are credited for bringing soccer (futbol) to Mexico. In 2012, billionaire Carlos Slim purchased a 30% stake in Grupo Pachuca, which owns Pachuca and Leon. Since getting promoted to the Primera Division in 1998, Pachuca has been one of the most successful clubs in Mexico.

Man jumping for joy and shitting themselves over a meaningless win over 'super power horse' from the Caribbean- I think not.
Was the performance flawless? was a dominant showing? was it a lapse from the Jamaicans? what really happen here is a once in  blue moon outing with this team so far. One game does not make a dynasty- we have  long road to climb to gain any respectably in the region much less for when we venture out.

ABTrini, You putting too much into this. Anytime we beat JA, it is "the talk of the town". But I do not think Eve is that naive to think we reach after a 1-0 victory.  Some of his utterances was a bit of a "bragging rights" thing. But to me Eve sounds optimistically cautious when expressing himself. A practice game against JA is never really a practice. TT needs much more friendlies against stronger opposition to gauge this team. Games against Ven. Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Suriname would be very welcome. Don't put too much into this.

Cape Verde have made history by becoming the smallest country ever to qualify for the Fiba Basketball World Cup.

With a population of just over 500,000, the Atlantic island nation beat the record previously held by Montenegro, who qualified in 2019.

An impressive 79-64 victory over Ivory Coast sealed the Blue Sharks' spot at the tournament which will be co-hosted by Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines from 25 August to 10 September and will see five African teams compete.

On Friday, South Sudan also made history, qualifying at the first attempt just three years after the team took part in their debut international competition.

Angola and Egypt booked their places at the World Cup in qualifiers held in Cairo, while Ivory Coast were the first African nation to qualify back in August.

Fats, he did make some mistakes, but he saved us embarrassment. With the exception of B’dos, the other teams were dominating us. Like 80/20 ball possession. You should look at premier league and see similar error by well paid keepers.

“It’s about attitude!” Cooper on T&T football’s shortcomings, facing El Salvador and his players’ special quality

“We are dealing with amateurs and that is different to professionals in terms of how they deal with certain situations.”

As an example, he pointed to one key player who initially refused to try any of the wide array of breakfast and lunch meals available at their Guatemalan hotel and was attempting to make do on bread and butter. Cooper threatened to drop the young man to finally get him to budge.

https://wired868.com/2023/02/18/its-about-attitude-cooper-on-tt-footballs-shortcomings-facing-el-salvador-and-his-players-special-quality/

What this points to is an improved need for pre-tournament psychological profiling. Cooper is a humanitarian. There are coaches with whom a player with ANY inkling of that would never make it on the plane to benefit from the growth experience of being there. That behavior is a variant of the conduct exhibited by some players on trial and before they even get a whiff of a trial.

It is also effectively a hunger strike. Coach bounced his head in belief of the player and the player bounced his head out of an insecurity. Who needs that during a consequential tournament?

Asylum, I kind of on the both side of this. The coach or the selectors should have known of the player's lifestyle or religion, whatever it is. I have no problem with that. But it will affect the team and his health also. Football is skill, dexterity and power, etc. Even if he has skills and dexterity and he don't have strength and power,  what use is he to the team. In the game against El Sal. there was the left winger who was tired and the commentator mentioned it. To his credit Cooper changed him and brought Chaves, correct me if I am wrong.

These players must be honest and let the coaches know about essentials habits. Not wait at the crucial hour to tell them of your habits. That should have been straightened out in TT before they came to Guatemala.

I agreed with Kounty about " deficiencies including just holing on to the ball" and unable to adjust to the speed of the  game, the physical part of the game. All, to me are clearly obvious. I love their fighting spirit. If our guys were fitter and a bit stronger, they would have taken ElSal. But they are not.

If they are to succeed at the U20 level, they need to adjust their minds first. What it will take for them to do  the "right" things to achieve top level. A lot of 50/50 ball  left some of our guys writhing in pain. And that is against EL Salvador. What go happen when they meet a physical and fast team. This team can go far but the TTFA has to do something different to vastly minimize their difficiencies. Cardines is above the curve. Like he can play anywhere. And we know why. He is is in a professional organization. If we have about 7 players of his mind set, we going places.

I felt sorry for Panton. He was throwing his body all over the places to prevent embarassment. He and Cardines  should be training with the senior team.

Ailan Panton, Rio Cardines, Lindell Sween, Darrel Garcia and Malachi Webb should be immediately drafted into the senior team. All teams now priming youth players. T&T have de oldest team in Concacaf they not going anywhere unless Eve start blooding these youths.

Rio Cardines is a boss find, de man look potent.

Patton is the mvp so far. At least for me. The guy flying all over the place to make the squad look decent. But you are correct, some of these yutes should be blooding with the U20/seniors. They don't have much time. You know how Trini developmental  system does work 4 years behind.

Levi Garcia rifles a free-kick into the top left-hand corner of the net to lead AEK Athens to a 3-0 win over Levadiakos FC. With 11 goals, Garcia is now the joint leading scorer of the Super League Greece.

Levi Garcia is Greek Super League top scorer.
By Jonathan Ramnanansingh (T&T Newsday).

Trinidad and Tobago striker Levi Garcia is now the Greek Super League’s top scorer this season, with 11 goals to his name, for club AEK Athens.

Garcia achieved the feat after scoring the opening goal, in the 37th minute, of his team’s 3-0 victory over Levadiakos on Monday.

He’s now scored 11 goals in 20 of AEK Athens’ 21 league matches played. There are five remaining games in the league season and Garcia is currently on course to possibly cop the league’s top-scorer award.

Before he found the back of the net, Garcia was tied on ten goals with Panaitolikos striker Nikolaos. In third, with nine goals from 17 matches, is Olympiacos’ Cedric Makambu.

The victory for AEK Athens (50pts) keeps them within one point of league leaders Panathinaikos. AEK Athens however, have played 20 matches so far, while Panathinaikos have played one more.

Garcia last scored a league goal on January 15 in a 4-0 triumph over Panetolikos.

But in the Greek Sup Cup, he netted a brace in the third and 90+12 minutes of semi-final leg one last Thursday. Garcia was also on target in the 67th minute in leg one of the quarter-finals on January 18. Watch Levi's interview.

The Man on fire!!! The Brightest Star in TT football currently. Blessings.

The three us goals all had an element of luck.

At the same time, if the USA's decision making and shot selection were better, we could have been looking at a rout by halftime. Time and time again they were in prime positions to score. They had 32 shots, but only 9 on goal. We had 7, with 3 on goal.

The goalkeeper save like hell. We could have gotten about seven in we backside. The team have some spunk, but they need more of everything to succeed at the next level.
