Good Evening Good People,
JW has his corporation. He has his travel agency, his football team, his stadium and his position in Fifa. Most of the people who are against Jack have no qualms with his possessions. He earned it his way. Youme may not like it. But who is we...  Opportunity knocks. he was at the right place, right time. He made his move and climb up the ladder to the FiFa kingdom. Good. But after all these years at the helm of TT football, the state of football is pathetic. Passion for club/community football is non existent. Most Trinis have more passion for English leauge that the TT league. We know every iota about premier league to conference football  in England than our own football league.

Good Evening everyone,
My biggest concern is fan support. They should come with a decent riddum section to spur them boys to victory.

Everybody's input is valid. But saying that, now that these guys get their opportunity, they should be focus and be prepared to fight like warriors. Like I said before, we all have been clamouring for new youngblood. This is the ideal tournament to test them. If these guys can't even come second then things real bad for the PFL. But I don't think so. I think the guys have lots of pride and will be prepared. They will not get another opportunity like this again. We can jump on Jabloteh, but Jack move dread with the club tournament. Jabloteh want to prepare to win that tournament. Connection in Brazil, they want to win also.

When it comes to showing off body parts, the standards are different for men and women. The style is baggy for men, but poom-poom shorts for women.

Whey the hell they getting 100 mill for this man. That is the national budget for some countries

The people with the money know Jack by now. Jack has been in TFA/TTFF in so many different capacities since the late 70's. They don't trust him with their mony. So football will suffer as long as Jack and his surrogates are running things.

After living in the US, nothing in T&T seems far anymore., it seems to me that those stadiums are not out of the way. Manny Ramjohm right in Marabella off the Southern Main Rd. Iam not sure of Ato Bolden. But  that stadium is between Couva and Chaguanas, serving those two communities. Can fans get  buses to that stadium?

I am never surprised by Martinique and Quadeloupe's performance. They have good players. They are department of France and many have represented France. Tresor etc. They have French coaching and technical support

Good Afternoon Guys,
The tournament is important, but not as important as the WC qualifiers. We have a hard time getting the clubs to release these guys for WC games and important friendlies. When WC comes around the clubs will have to release players. I know everybody want to win this tournament for bragging rights. But, we also agree that we want new and younger players for 2010. This is the ideal tournament for them. Sink or swim. If they use the time between now and tournament productively, I honestly think we will win. For the Caribbean area I think we have a big pool of players to compete and win.

This is the best tournament for the young bloods to cut their teeth. Win, lose or draw.

« on: January 05, 2007, 07:36:15 AM »
Guys this is not funny. And with the amount of gun related incidents in T&T, it only takes one fool with a caps gun to do a copy cat in T&T. We don't need that. We hardly have any fans support. That will be one more reason for them to stay away. So the proleague and college leauge should be proactive/reactive, whatever active  and do security checks from now on. Don't wait for something to happen and then start running around like  headless chickens to impliment security checks.

Good Morning Everyone,
Rodney made a good point about clubs identifying with a community or number of communities. The clubs should try to mark off the various communities that they want to be associated with and do community work. Like run youth level programs(boys&girls). AIA should target Laventille(Sucess, Trou Macaque, Morvant, Never Dirty, etc) Run an AIA community league for girls and boys. Jabloteh should target Mallick, Barataria, Santa Cruz, Mt Lambert, bourg Malatresse,Aranguez(do the same thing). I think Jabaloteh should try to build a mini stadium in Aranguez. As a matter of fact. Aranguez is big enough to have a small sport complex. track and feild, football, cricket with lights. Swimming pool and small indor arena. Between Manning and Duprey this can be accomplished. Jack have Tunapua/Tacarigua. John Williams has the whole of Central. Sando/Princess Town is wide open for anyone with plenty discretionary income and passion for football. Same goes for Arima/Dabadie, Point, Palo Seco, Fyzabad..

What is wrong with the word West Indian. And who says you cant transalate. Indios Oeste (IO). When people says West Indian(Indies) more than likely it pertains to the English speaking Caribbean which is predominantly black(of African descent).

some people on this forum were always asking for new blood. This is the appropriate tournament for new blood. And what if  we lose. It will be a learning exprerience for the debutants

Connection, Jabloteh, Joe Public and to a lesser extent AIA are true pro teams.  The only problem I have is all the invisible people who attend he games. How are we going to fill those stadium seats. I watch one of the games on the web. The standard is not that bad. Decent ball control. Not too much boom-kick. jabloteh did well in Concacaf against Chicago. Connection was leading Toluca 2-0 for about 3/4 of the game AT Toluca. I  saw Petrotrin play one of the smartest game against DC in RFK a couple years ago. They lost 1-0 with 10 mins. to go. Joe Public got creamed the next year(they were not supposed to be there).
The clubs have to work overtime to attract fans to the games. I wish I had the magic wand to help. You would think that after the WC, fans would flock to the stadiums. But I dreaming bigtime. I hope is a Connection/Jabloteh final

Good Morning and Happy New Year,
Jack crying Crocodile tears. Joe Public being discriminated against? please! He may be right when he says that govt not in sync the the program for 2010. But I don't give Manning wrong. TTFF don't have any transparencies. Should the govt just give him 50 mill. How do we know he is putting the money in the interest of the people who needs it the most.

I agree with Midknight,
Trinidad had no gold and was not as important to Spain as the other Caribbean colonies. The only Spanish official who is mentioned prominently in T&T history is the Chacon, the last Spanish Govenor of TT. He took interest in TT. He desiged massive public works. As everybody should know, at one time Independence square was under water. He had the area back fill with dirt from Laventille Hill. But whatever he had planned for TT was cut short when the Brits blockade POS. The Govenor in Caracas sent no reinforcements. He had to surrender. The national flower Chaconia is named after him. Also, one of the national awards(Chaconia medal) is named after him.

Triniman, Happy New Year,
I was never ashamed of speaking creole. It just that there was hardly anyone to speak it with. The older ones would speak it. Especially when it comes to somethings confidential. If the children my age was speaking it I guess I and many other Trinis would still be speaking creole. The fact it just around WW11 when the US moved in, the island lingua franca  and influence became more Anglophone. The creole was and still is relegated to culture shows, carnival and Best Village. Just look at New Orleans. The french language is dead, but you see cultural habits in the city and the states of Louisiana, Alabama, East Texas.

When warlord speak about Jamaican patois, I guess he is speaking about Jamaican English patois. The everyday language that some of us in the rest of the Caribbean have to listen closely to understand.

To Pointman whose grand parents are Rostant and DeCouteau. My last name is DeCoteau. My great grandfather is from Petit Martinique and great grandmother from Cariacou. Coteau means hill. Couteau means knife.

Even though Brazil was portuguese, lots of other europeans migrated to Brazil. And of course, Frenchie was prominent.  Huge Afro population. Carnaval.

Happy New Year Everybody,
This conversation is very stimulating. To the who fail to see the French influence in T&T, to some extent he is correct. The French influence in T&T came mostly from the Haitian French planters and their servants/slave who came to T&T at the request of the Spanish and when the Haitian rev, was in full swing. The French migrants were practically full citizenship providing they don't "rock the boat". Later when the British got Dominica, Greneda, St. Lucia and I think Tobago, a lot of these patois speaking people came to Trinidad to work and Live. The French never colonize T&T. We are not French and have never spoken perfect French. We are influenced more by the afro-french culture that the Haitians and the so called small islander brought with them.. Yes, we were a Spanish colony at one time and spoke Spanish. yes there are people who speak Spanish fluently.  At Christmas we sing paranda(parang). Actually the word parang is more french. French use to play parang music too. The French, Spanish and Portuguese mingled quite freely. There are also a T&T community in Venezuela. T&T and Venezuela move back and forth without much hassle.
Laventille(the little window) was la ventanilla before the French came to T&T. Whever they settled they named or renamed. In some places one part was french, one part French.  Cocorite could french or Spanish. Morne Coco and Morne Diablo. Some towns with french names. Grand Riviere, Grand Chemin, Morvant, Mt D'or, Champ Fleur, Saint Joseph(San Jose), Lopinot, Dabadie, Bonasse, La Basse, Curepe, Esperance Village(that probably was Esperancia), Febeau, Filicity, Filette and on and on.  Fruits like caimite, chataigne(chestnut), pomme-cythere, pomme-arac, mango(Julie, vert, rose). Then there is ponche -a-creme, makafourchette. Check this website, http://www.fallingrain.com/world/TD/.  The very fact is most T&T cannot Speak fluent Spanish and conversation in creole has gone. We are an Anglophone country with Spanish and French influence. Something like New Orleans.  I came to T&T at age 5 from St. Lucia speaking perfect creole. Now, I cannot carry on a conversation to save mih live. So Warlord, we don't claim to be Frenchmen. But we know we are influenced by the French(Haitian, Lucian, Dominican, Vincy, etc.
  Keep the conversation flowing!!!!
