Ato: Buckle up for Carnival

Anna Ramdass

DRIVE SAFELY: Ato Boldon

Wear your seatbelts.

This is the plea of Olympic medallist and Opposition Senator Ato Boldon who is working with the Arrive Alive team to ensure that people are buckled up and not driving under the influence.

"I am really shocked to see how many people are not wearing their seatbelts," said Boldon in an interview with the Sunday Express yesterday.

Boldon has opted not to go to some fetes but to stay out on the roads and urge people to buckle up and drive safely.

He has been working with Arrive Alive for some time and was spotted on the roads last Thursday night in a mini road block exercise along with the police who were checking for drunk drivers.

"I don't want to see anyone die on the roads, this is not a political thing, this is me doing my part to save a life," said Boldon.

Boldon said five years ago he was almost killed by a drunk driver and he wanted to stress the dangers of drinking and driving.

His pro active role in helping to stop road accidents was incited a few weeks ago following the death of four young people in an accident.

Boldon said he called Arrive Alive and asked them to use him in any way that it could to help stop the carnage on the roads.

At lease one public figure showin that he care  about the people .drunk drivin and drivin wid out seat belt law should realy be inforced.
somtin should realy be done about it . :applause: :applause: :applause: to you Ato.

WE'RE LEAVING!

Crime forces citizens abroad for Carnival

Carolyn Kissoon South Bureau

Tuesday, February 13th 2007

More than 55,000 people are leaving Trinidad for the long Carnival weekend.

It is the biggest exodus from mas they have ever experienced, travel agents said yesterday.

Since last weekend, all flights to a number of Caribbean countries, Fort Lauderdale in Miami and to New York were fully booked, they said.

"It is practically impossible to book a flight to a number of places now... not until after Carnival," said one agent.

The upward trend of flying out for Carnival began "about four years ago" and most agents reported a 40 per cent increase in travellers this year over last year. Official figures show that last year, some 35,000 people took flight from Carnival.

Wayne Rodriguez, president of the Travel Agents' Association, said Trinidadians have developed a trend of leaving the country during the Carnival weekend.

"Despite the increase in fares to Caribbean islands the flights are all full for the next week. For example, the cost of going to Barbados is now $2,300, an increase of $1,300, and we are all sold out," he said.

For businessman, Shane Ali, after playing mas for more than 12 years, he and his wife, Narissa, have decided to steer clear from the celebrations and take a romantic trip to the Bahamas. He said: "I really did not want to leave Trinidad at this time, but the country has changed so much. We can no longer feel safe playing mas. Last year while I was jumping up in a band someone tried to kidnap me.

"I was dragged through a crowd of people and walked through a dark alley. The men then saw two police officers and got scared. That was when they told me to run, but promised that they will come back for me."

Ali, who operates a furniture store in Central Trinidad, said: "To prevent anything like that from happening again I told my wife that we should just leave for the weekend. We love Carnival, but the crime has just gotten out of control."

Another Carnival traveller, Sean Seemungal, of La Romaine, said: "I played mas for the past three years but I have just started a family. I am not into Carnival anymore. I will be travelling with my family. Carnival is not what it used to be."

But there is also a jump in the number of people . what ah thing .

I write this to you so that we might be able to live longer healthy lives , and support the warriors with strength and energy.
and two of my co workers suffer from heart attacks recently one have been in a nursing home for quite a while and the other is a outpatient walk with a limp .but cannot work .

Aortocornary bypass surgeries are the most common surgeries performed in the united states every year . A small percentage of aortocornary bypass patients have complications from surgery , including  death .Many people who undergo  htis surgery never fully recover and unable to return to work . This type of operation relieves the symptoms of heart disease but does not affect the cause .
It is a sad fact that a surgical intervention constitutes an admission of failure of medical treatment .The surge of aortocoronary bypass operations gives testimony to the absence of effective medical treatment directed to alleviate or eliminate the cause underlying the disease process".                                                             ARTERIOSCLEROSIS AND ATHEROSCLEROSIS

My people are dying from a lack of knowledge ,Hosea 4:6 These words from the bible came to her as she wrote about how arteriosclerosis  can be healed. Arteriosclerosis is a term applied to a pathological condition in which there is thickening ,hardening and loss of elasticity  of the wall of blood vessels , especially the arteries ; in short , it is hardening of the arteries. Atherosclerosis  takes place when arteries  are are blocked and the blood cannot pass through freely.long before it comes to a stroke and /or heart attack . the buildup in the arteries is there. it build up over the years and arteriosclerosis is no longer a diseases specific to senior citizens. young men in their30s
or even younger show signs of trouble. even women ,who were thought to have immunity to arteriosclerosis . suffer more and more from this disease. when physicians speak about arteriosclerosis , they compare this disease with the plague of the middle ages. the question is why so many people plagued with the buildup  of plaque in the arteries ? Arteriosclerosis andartheroclerosis are two sides of the same coin. the first one is hardening of the elastic tube, theartery ,and filling up these tubes with sludge and blood corpuscles. Atherosclerosis is the fat deposits in and around the arteries , choking the passage of blood and bringing on complete stoppage . the final result of both can be a heart attack or a stroke

                                                                             CHOLESTEROL

Cholesterol is absolutely essential to the body for the production of bile ,for fat absorption in the intestines, for steroid hormone synthesis and as an element in cell membranes ,why do we have trouble with cholesterol buildup when the body needs cholesterol ? Atherosclerosis
is a complex biochemical problem with no simple answers.
The liver is supposed to make the right amount of cholesterol . a poor liver being overworked and maltreated makes short cuts so that the cholesterol amount is lager and more like glue . Healthy intestinal and liver functions are key to regulating fat metabolism in the body . when the liver and intestines are not working properly and digestion iss impaired , cholesterol cannot be easily eliminated and fatty deposits can start to build up .

                                                                                    KO LESTER

The herbal formula called kolester helps the body to balance cholesterol levels . Kolester contains Rhubarb and okra for thorough but gentle intestinal cleansing. Rhubarb may be helpful in maintaining healthy cholesterol levels. male fern and beth root provide strong blood cleansing actions . Rhubarb and beth root have been used for centuries to regulate blood thickness . Rhubarb also helps with sluggish intestines that can hinder fat digestion and can cause fatty deposits . okra provides good quality amino acids . male fern , calamus and rhubarb are traditionally used for parasites, which often impair healthy liver functioning.Acup of tea made from arnica and hyssop, 3 times daily , is also helpful.

                                                                 The Truth on cholesterol

Eskimos are on high fat ,high proteindiet , they show very high cholesterol  (HDL) but no arteriosclerosis is found . their aretries are free of cholesterol build up . why?
Cholesterol  has two chemicals .LDL, which stands for low density lipoprotein. brings the cholesterol from the liver to the tissues . HDL, which stands for High Density Lipoprotein , removes the execess cholesterol from the tissues and arteries . i call it the AJAX of the arteries . it is arterial cleansing .
Eskimos have lots of HDL ; therefore , their arteries are clean in spite of their high consumption of fats and proteins . ( by the way , Eskimos have very different kidneys to handle all the protein they consume .) A Japanese laboratory found that , in the right shinbone , a special hormone is formed which is picked up by the white corpuscles and delivered to the liver to be utilized for cholesterol processing .since in some cases , this hormone is at short supply , cholesterol -triglyceride trouble starts.

                                                    SYMPTOMS OF ARTERIOCCLEROS

What symptoms does your body give you when plaque is building up in the arteries ?

(1) watch out foran overlytired feeling after a heavy meal.
(2) observe forgetfulness with tasks that you normally perform with acuity .
(3) notice if your mind will not grasps new ideas or follow new directions .
(4) persistentfeeling of weakness , coldness, tingling or burning in your toes or feet .
(5) be aware of dull headaches
(6)persistents sleeplessness is another danger signal.
(7) tightness in chest.
(8) pain in shoulders when not i accident related.
(9)Breathlessness when walking or lifting .
(10) notice if walking gives you pain in the calves  of the legs and that, when you rest, you feel better and pain will disappear.
(11) notice if you had a good night sleep .you get up and stretch or exercise . in the middle of the sternum is a sharp pain. it will go away  and not return until nexxt morning when the same pain returns at the same time in the middle of the sternum.
(12) notice if there are small ulcerations of the skin on ankles or feet .
(13) notice head noises ,dizziness, sudden spells of partial deafness.
(14) notice blurred or darkened vision.
