yeah right

but seriously even though the tactics did not work we still in with a chance. But sad to say I cannot see this team making it to Top 3 in the Hex.

1) The fact that Glen cannot outrun either Bocrenegra or Onyeu means that te lone man up front counter attack thing was never going to work. Pancho being a good scout should have know this upfront so I do not understand the ball down the line or over the top for Glen to chase because it did not work all night. The ball should be to feet and needless to say Stern is much better at holding up those types of balls and waiting for the 5 midfielders to come.

2) 5 in the midfield only works if men know they position, for the most part men was getting in each other way

The played 5 flat across with Carlos and Keon pulling inside cogesting the midfield and causing confusion of who is marking who.

A better formation would be  2 men back and 3 men forward given both Leon and Osei both in there only for defense or 3 in the middle with the wing men staying wide.

Pancho tactics is 5 flat in the middle on offense either Carlos or Wolfe surging to help Glen up front, it did not work at all last night.

The US to fast for that we need to use the slow build up and try to isolate one and one Pierce or Cherondolo because the weaker part of the us defense is down the wing. The men in the middle solid both in the air and on the ground.

Pancho is losing the Mental support and team sprit of the players.

Imagine how Scotland feeling you leave quite england and come to ride pine right through, He should have get the last 20 mins last night because the game was over and we had subs so what is the big deal. Lose the game but keep the team sprit.
A big part of football is playing for the sprit of the team and the coach, I cannot see scotland battling for pancho, same for Theobald same for Stern

He losing the suport because he is a bad minded jack ass.
You need to learn how to win the little mental battles within the game.

Player summary

1) GK is not ready, his kicking distribution is not ready, is tactical choices is not ready. but he is a good goal keeper. Ince is our best hope for the Guatemala game, Phillip is one for the future, he has all the attributes but needs 5 years to build the experience. Look at how long it took Jack to get to the WCQ point.

Defense wise the left back is a decent player he would be a good replacement for Avery as he is getting old. Thomas had a decent game and Hislop was invisble but was decent.

Leon did not do enough, Osei was lively Theobald did not have a role and Keon is no left winger but has good touches.

I would put Keon more central, Chose one Leon or Osie to fill in defensive mid for whitley until he come back and then Chose one of Yorke theobald or Birchal as the other midfield.

Use Carlos as the wing man and let him switch from left to right as he chose but stay wing and provide the width. Also reduce his defensive responsibilities kind of like Messi or Ronaldhino. So he keeps his enery to run forward. He is the only man with Zess on the whole side but he has no help.

We need to play with 2 forwards Pick 2 from Roberts, Glen, Sten and Scotland.

We need to go after guatemala in gautemala the 5 midfielders hold back and defend thing is not going to work because our defense is weak.
It is either we going to put them under pressure and get some goals or we going to sit back and hope we can hold out.

We need to go for it.

Guatemala have the Tougher last 2 games.

Since manning have money to give away maybe he could do a double dip and fill in the blanks left by Jack Warner and end the whole black list player arbitration thing so we could move on.

I saw the Jam vs Can game; Canada shooting them self in the foot by playing on Artificial Turf. But I think they might be done and dusted because the go away to Honduras and Mexico which is easily 0 points given the heat and humidity and altitude and the fact that they have little experience in winning in central america.

Jamaica look decent they basically have the same core team so the have the experience.

I picking Jamaica to make it out.

But that will depend on their head to head with Jamaica.

If the Meixco vs Honduras game. Honduras show that they have the players but yet again not the professionalism
Honduras look like Trinidad Pre Benhacker.
Deep in the second half behind 1-0 to honduras Mexico was very relaxed they played a calm game and waited for the goals to come.
Honduras on the other hand keep trying to force the game and paid the price for rash takles and rash defendingnot taking time to clear the ball etc.

Mexico look flat I sorry for Sven they will run him off the continent soon.

If Jamaica can beat mexico at home Mexico will be in some trouble because Honduras will take revenge at home. However Mexico altitude alvantage usually gets them through.

Guat fight hard but the US some how got the points.


Guat will be a tough test for trinidad they basically have the same squad from last time and if I remember well we needed magic from Latapy and Stern to squeeze out a victory.

They coming hard for revenge and we need to be ready. We need to make additions to the squad to make us stronger, Stern, Scotland and Edwards even if we bringing stern and scotland to start on the bench. We might need a scoring punch off the bench.

We need to let guatemala bring the game to us in POS and hit them on the break. Once we play it cool we can get some chances and if we put it away they will be dead in the water.

a tie would not be the end of the world but a win for us pust them in a troublesome spot.
At the same time if the beat us then we need to get points in Guatemala to get through which is almost impossible.

Beat Guatemala and squeeze a point out of the US should be our aim for the next 2 games.

It is not a forgone conclusion that Guatemala will beat cuba in cuba and the US will beat them at home. The key to qualifiers is to get in front and not be forced into must win games.

Let say we make the world cup do you think players would get jib last time will go into the world cup without a formal money contract, Probably not.

But if you make it with some fresh blood who just happy to be there they might just be nieve enough to take what the can get.

Football / The Pros and Cons of the Anton Corneal Position

Corneal is more that just an Assistant coach.

I think he is in that position to ensure continuity even though the foreign coaches may change.

Being in that position is good as it allows him to basicalled get "Trained" by observation on how the foreign coaches does conduct themself.
However if he really is a member of the coaching staff then why not get changed when the coahing staff change. There is a certain phylosophical side of coaching that is not transferable . If Wim has a different coaching mentality than Maturana then why keep the same assistant coach.

Also being on the staff has a direct impact on which players are called for trials and viewed with interest even if he is not ultimately picking the squad.

Will other players ever get a look in if the filters stay the same ?

Is Corneal the right man for this position?
Should we expose other coaches to this position maybe rotate a new one every year so that other young coaches with potential will be in a position to get some experience.

This position is probably more important than the "head Coach" because he has more knowledge on the players and will probably be still involved in tnt football long after the foreign coach leave.

What should be the optimal job description for this position and who should it be implemented?


If Anton Corneal Decide he want to go and coach in america for some big school or something what position does that leave us in.

Just thinking out loud and wondering what other people think.

This is very good news indeed, it means many players are getting a look in and that our local teams can compete with caribbean level.

What discipline issue can arise when the team is not even training.

I ait hear warner say nothing yet usually he is first to talk.

This like some hush hush stuff, I feel Wim must be pinch ones of the players bottom or something because by now especially in a place like TnT the story supposed to come out.

I have never heard of a coach being suspended for 6 months in my life.

8 years ago brazil was not a major force in women football, US, Canada China etc were Dominant.
It used to be like watching backs and forwards when ever the US was playing.

Now when you watch Brazil Play they are way better than how america plays and now they are beating them up.

in less than one generation they were able to get the players
technical ability way up
100% improved in fitness and speed
tactical ability is much improved


It is like night and day.

This is the impact of training methods and implementation.

many people on this site do not believe that Trinidad and Tobago  has any chance to win a world cup but Womens teams like brazil and Germany who were decades behind the best womens team a few years ago are now showing how fast progress can be made.

We need to put together a plan to leap frog our team into World Cup Winning contention.
For all the none believers evidence is being present as we speak.

I feel the Dominica coach should have some class and tell the players to knock the ball around.

What is the point of scoring 23 goals against a team especially in a youth U15 tournament.

Dominica hammered the British Virgin Islands 23-0 in yesterday's round of matches in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-15 Youth Cup competition.

At the Marvin Lee Stadium, captain Errol Blaize led by example, notching seven while Mc Chris Mourance netted five and Hakeem Hazel slotted home three.

Also in the goalfest, Dwight Green grabbed two while there was one goal apiece for Dillon Alexander, Sydney Jules, Nigel Sanderson, Mikey Edwards, Juniro Mason and Malcolm Joseph. The win was the largest by a team in the tournament so far after two days.

Also yesterday, there were wins for El Salvador, Antigua & Barbuda and the Netherland Antilles.

Today the competition takes a break.

This is a Big tournament and they sending a second string team.

This is disrespectfull to the teams involved.

The team they send can compete but i do not see them coming out of the group, especially if they going with a second string attitude.

This was the best chance for them to get Donavan and Beasly some experience against top teams.

I they chose not to do it.

Donavan for one should definetly go because he does not have to rest after a long europe season, MLS now start.

It seems to me they are running from the inevitable.

A year after failure at world cup I would think they would jump at a chance to match up against some of the best teams in the world.

The US team has to learn to beat the big teams in competitive matches, Copa America is a good chance for that.

Teams like Brazil and Aregentina will be playing at top form to play a team like that in this tournament would be the best preparation they getting for 2010 because they not going to get it in Friendly match and they not going to get it in Concacaf.

They let a valuable chance fly away

I not sure is this was the same players that they used in the Digicel but they seemed to do well against top concacaf opposition.
Our local players were able to handle them in the Digicel

So what happen now.


I did not hear Guadelope's coach say his men were not Fit or not used to the standard of play

They make semifinals and lost 1-0 to the best team in concacaf Mexico

So how we coach can use the excuse that men unfit.


The fact is Wim did not think he would be using the full Digicel squad for Gold cup so he did not prepare them fully.
Hence when the foreign based back out we get catch behnd the eight ball.

Both Guatemala and El Salvador use 100 % local players

We should be able to beat them with we local players if we prepare properly.
Especially given the performance we gave on the field

Both games TnT should have won with better luck and better preparation.

And just like Guadelope we would have advanced.


Wim have to take some blame for not having the locals prepared for battle.

If Guadelope can do it we should not expect anything less from TnT

I never thought I would have seen the day.

But I really and truely think he done now.

These players look like they for real, they dont look like they going and break ranks.

Not to mention the power in the Internet generation , is not like express and guardian spinning the stories, anybody could go any where and read the facts.

It is "Public" the average "Joe" can get the real story from the real players involved.

It looks like Jack aint backing down this time, he attacking with full force,

But unlike when he did ban this one back in the day,
This time they players looking united to the cause.

They sticking to they guns and everybody in the whole world can see.


How tragic it is that the one man who do the most to make Trinidad Football professional is now undone by the very professionalism that he himself push to create.

Whey alyuh was.

Men like Filho, Kicker, bally, Firebrand,FF, Flex and everybody else from NYC and environs

But the lime was as always real good.

Tallman have me working hard hard hard toting video camera taking pictures doing interviews from one side of the stadium to the next.

As a trinidad fan I am sure most people are in a catch 22.

In Jack Warner Famous words " The win against Haiti is significant for reasons which I cannot talk about"

What in fact he is saying is if this team do well to hell with the foreign based because we dont need you.

So the next question is

If this team do well in the gold cup will the TTFF have the courage to get rid of the blacklisted and go with this "New" Squad.

As many old time posters have said in the past

Jack and them have banned men before and there has always been younger fresher players to take their place.

The question now becomes

Will the public allow the TTFF to do it again, will we jump on the socawarriors band wagon in support of roberts, spann and denzil.
Will we just stay away and lock off the football
Will we get this issue resolved and get the best players back in time to build a good squad for the world cup.


One thing is for sure everybody is seeking their own interest.
The question is who is seeking the interst of Trinidad and Tobago football.


Boynes does not want to hand over any unaccounted for money to the TTFF, (maybe because jack is a UNC)

The TTFF does not want to give the players any money because the done get enough from the Govt, when in fact the govt did not give the TTFF anymoney to cover the world cup expenses.

The Govt only give the players the money as a way to show political love to the heroes of the hour.

The Foreign Players do not want to play unless they get the money the TTFF promise them.


The players that playing glad for the caps, potential contracts, exposure, trips. and lil sweat that they getting. This may be their big chance to make it, Notice only men who have good contact now is on strike, man without contact like Theobald is playing hard even though he too did not get his world cup money.


Wim glad for the coaching work he have, he get to build his resume as a international coach, He getting some decent salary at least sometimes and even if the team loose is not he fault because players are not made available to him.


So in the end everybody doing what is best for their own interest which is all you really can expect people to do anyway,
It is Human Nature.


The reality of the situation is

The Govt does not care about sports or football that much.
Anybody can stand next to a world cup player and say here is a million unit trust but how much unit trust you putting to pick up big stone and throw gramoxzone on Timari for primary school football down in Mayaro.

The Professional players not serious enough to promote a professional environment. men like Yorke and Latapy not even present, where are they on Holiday, what they not holding press conference etc. If Dwight work was serious about football in Trinidad and Tobago he should have hired a professional manager to take over TTFF player relationship. He have the money and he is exposed to how these things does run.
When he in england he conform to the professional standard, and when he come Trinidad he glad to deal with the amature standards. If you know how things should be and you have to resources to make it happen you have a responsibility to make it happen. (But I guess his focus is on his game) I am sure Roy Keene did not tell the sunderland players, " I go give you X amount of dollars if we come first" It is proabably written down somewhere.

The TTFF is hopeless.
They have no plan, They have no development, No tranpearancy and they do not meet the expectations of the players, or the fans.
TnT football has no fan base unless we are very close to world cup qualification and they seem content to continue along the same mode.

We finally make the world cup and the first thing we start to do is argue about money, be vindictive about money and Last and foremost.
Jack Warner decide that now is is good time to mash up the team because maybe them men and them giving too much trouble.
Better to start with a whole new young group that way they go be easier to keep in line.

pray for yourself so that you will be back to form

pray for the leaders of the black listed players Kelvin Jack and Sancho, give them the wisdom and negotiating power to get things done.

pray for the whole player pool, who need to keep fit and mentally ready to perform in the gold cup and beyond

Pray for Boynes so that he can provide the governmental support to the football.

Pray for Panday & UNC, once Panday doing good Jack could be more focused to do good in Football.

Pray for Manning, Let him use some oil money to help the football.

So lets get this straight

The Players have said they are not on strike and are available to play for Trinidad.
The players have said they are available to talk with the TTFF

The TTFF has said there is no "jack" List and all players who the coach requested are available
The TTFF has also said they are available for talks

Jack Warner has said he is out of the Loop and the TTFF is handeling the issue, if asked he will intervene.

The Coach has said he can only pick players who are made available to him by the TTFF. On top of that he assumes that players who are missing from training are siding with the striking players who are really not on strike.


Players are not on Strike.
TTFF not banning anybody
Coaching staff dont even know who is supposed to be in Training.

Even if everything is resolved, because if you listen to both sides there is really nothing to resolve, How can this team get together to go and play games in the next 2-3 weeks.

Rigth about now the only people profiting is Zen because them men and them in Trinidad partying day and night because season done and they not training.
