If I was Suarez and I felt like I didn't do anything wrong, I definitely was not gonna shake Evra hand. No way. And Evra made it worse in trying to pull him back. For what?? If you overs it, and he walk pass you, leave d man.

Some views from South America before the game was that the story has been mainly one sided out of ENgland. That what Suarez did was some heckling that was meant to always stay inside the game. That the FA banning Suarez was too much and one sided. Now I know their media rel like all kinda scene. And I agree. The equivalent of Suarez calling Evra is similar to if I say Indian! while we sweating. However, as part of the game, yes, he tried to get into Evra's head, but it wasn't intended to be racially discriminating. That being said, Suarez was charged. If in the report it is noted that Evra then said something to Suarez along the same lines of being racist, then why Evra was not charged as well?  This isn't payback. It don't work that way. You respond, you get punishment too and that's how it always has been. The difference between both parties here is that Suarez did it without intention, Evra did. No one can deny that fact at all.

I am firmly against racism. And I do not agree with Suarez smashing the ball into the stands and all them kinda heights because that shouldn't have been, no matter how frustrating. Suarez is no saint but he has not deserved the punishment nor scrutiny he received leading up to the game. Also he should have told Kenny and the club that he was not gonna shake Evra's hand before the game. However, I believe this is another FA and English media no-ball wicket. Suarez and Liverpool fought a losing battle based on something that shouldn't have even been.

Dynamo trialist Roberts out to show he belongs in MLS
By Darrell Lovell (MLSsoccer.com)

After trading for Mac Kandji on Wednesday, the Houston Dynamo made it clear that they are not done looking for options to bolster the forward position.

One player that has spent the past two-and-a half weeks attempting to show the Dynamo that he is part of the solution is Darryl Roberts. The Trinidad & Tobago international and 2007 Toronto FC Supplemental Draft pick has been in Houston since the start of preseason camp and is currently with the team in Los Angeles for four scrimmages against MLS competition.

His goal while out west is to show what he can do against the kind of competition he hopes to go up against come March.

“There’s some pressure when you’re on trial to perform quickly, but you try and keep your nerves and show them as much as you can when you get the opportunity,” Roberts told MLSsoccer.com before leaving for LA on Tuesday. “It’s an important week for me to show, not only the coach but my teammates as well, that I can match against these guys.”

For Roberts, showing that he belongs will involve one thing: scoring goals. Houston have searched much of the offseason for a proven scorer, which is something the 28-year-old has shown a knack for in his past two stops.

Roberts has spent the last five years in Europe, stopping for a year-and-a-half in the Netherlands with Sparta Rotterdam and the last three in Turkey with first division club Denizlispor. In 114 appearances combined, the 6-foot-1 striker tallied 41 times.

Now out of contract, Roberts is hoping that his next adventure comes in MLS with the Dynamo. Roberts, who started his professional career with the Carolina Dynamo of the PDL in 2006, speaks highly of the family atmosphere at the club and is happy that his brief return to the United States has alleviated some of the obstacles he faced in Europe.

“The first thing is the cultural difference and the language,” Roberts said about being in MLS. “When I went in on the first day in Holland and in Turkey, there were different languages being spoken. Here, the guys are as a unit and it helps with everyone speaking English; it’s certainly a plus for me.”

Roberts started and logged 61 minutes in Houston’s first match in LA on Wednesday, a 2-0 victory against the Montreal Impact. With three matches left, he is looking to show the coaches that he can answer the bell against quality competition and hopes to extend his stay in Houston.

“I think all along we wanted to see him play against MLS teams,” Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear said on Tuesday. “That’s what you’re going to face weekly. Now you get to see how well they do when the defenders are better and possession is tougher to maintain. For someone like [Daryl], this week is very important.”

Football / Re: Nick DeLeon signs with MLS early
« on: January 12, 2012, 12:40:33 PM »
I was wondering what the whole "signs early with MLS" thing meant... how if affected the draft.  I guess it just guarantees for MLS that the player will play in the league, as opposed to going overseas.

The only thing I noticed was that he didn't have to participate in de Combine.

He is signed to the league, therefore the league own his rights. He can choose to play abroad in Europe or elsewhere but the MLS would retain his rights for however long they contracted for. In the MLS, you 'sign' with the league first and foremost, before you are contracted to a team.

I said it before and I'll say it again... If Suarez was playing for Trinidad and he hands d ball on d line making we go further in d World Cup, F*** YES I more than happy. He ain't cheat. He use he brains and he reflexes. Rules is rules.

I rel don't unders all d hate from that play by people unless u a strong backer of Ghana football.

I don't care who he's playing cheating for... cheating is cheating and I will never like nor support it.  I don't hate the yute I just don't think what he did has ANY place in the game.  Call me naive/old school if allyuh want, but I believe that how you play the game matters as much as, if more than the game itself.  If that's not the case then we forever cede the right to complain about diving, simulating, man dreads getting pull etc. of any sort.

I unders wha u sayin Bakes, but he do that once ent? So what about people like Nani, Cristiano, Pedro...I just calling names off the top of my head. But players who constantly simulate. You cah watch them play then because old school or not, it in almost every game on tv. I hate simulation but all I saying is that I don't understate the notion toward Suarez under one incident rather than other players/teams known to cheat, consistently.

To me it contradicting.

Fan’s look: Columbus Crew’s best value players of 2011
By Christopher Cantwell, Yahoo! Contributor Network
Sources: MLSSoccer.com, TheCrew.com, MLSPlayers.org.

In a tight salary cap league, it is always important for Major League Soccer teams to find some great players at an even better value. The Columbus Crew have been no exception in 2011, getting big contributions from players nowhere near the top of the team's payroll.

Here is a look at who I feel are the Crew's best values of 2011:

5. Josh Gardner - $49,200 - Gardner has been pretty consistent in the midfield throughout 2011 for the Crew. When called upon, he has logged big minutes and started 19 times for the Crew. Since playing for the Galaxy a few years back, Gardner played in the U.S. lower divisions and most recently with the Carolina Railhawks. The Crew were able to pick him as a bargain for the 2011 campaign.

4. Tommy Heinemann - $42,000 - Heinemann has been used more in a substitute role for the Crew, but still has started 12 times while notching three goals and one assist in his first MLS season. Like Gardner, Heinemann was picked up from the lower divisions after a great 2010 with the Charleston Battery. With three goals and one of the lowest salaries on the team, Heinemann is easily one of the best values in the cost-per-goal category.

3. Julius James - $72,169 - James, picked up after D.C. United let him go, has been a huge part of the Crew's backline and has played and started in 29 matches so far in 2011. James play in 2011 has began to make him a regular call-up to his native Trinidad and Tobago Soca Warriors.

2. Robbie Rogers - $140,000 - Rogers' salary barely cracks the top 10 on the Crew, yet he is a U.S. international and has recorded a team-high seven assists so far in 2011. Rogers is at the end of his contract, and the Crew will likely have to pay much more in 2012 to keep him around in Columbus. His play has put him back in the USMNT picture under head coach Jürgen Klinsmann. Rogers has also added two goals during the campaign. At the beginning of the season, Rogers seemed to possibly be out of the Crew picture. But in 2011, he has been a huge part of that picture.

1. Sebastian Miranda - $115,000 - Miranda has been great and has helped replace long-term pieces of the Crew defense during the offseason. He is the only Crew player to start and play all 32 games so far in 2011, while logging over 2,800 minutes. He has also added two assists.

Tallman, you hear Mauro Rosales making 42 grand??? I don't know how d frig Seattle get a man like he on that salary.

...But the bottom line is it is playing football in Vietnam. Dah come like men not serious.

When Leon was gonna sweat in Colombia, I say nice, Colombia football league recognized and men know the talent pool. If he did well, it is much more likely that he could get scouted by other teams.

But these fellas desperate for wuk and money that they hadda go Vietnam?

Norway, Sweden, Poland, Ukraine, Greece, Turkey, Japan. We really cah make them leagues and hadda go Vietnam??? Cah make a English League 2 side or a Segunda Division. Things rough on Trinidad side.

D one thing I disagree with Otto is that he asked rhetorically why our players not going to Europe. Because we doh know the agents. I rel doubt we have more links in Vietnam than knowing at least a couple people in Europe.

Take this for what it's worth... but Wikipedia says that Hanoi T&T are affiliated with FC Porto (whatever that means), plus as Fyzoman say... it have Brazilians and Argentinians on the team. By itself admittedly that doesn't say much, but de left-and dumpling Seabra eat aside, it ent like Argies and Brazilians breaking down the door to play in the Pro League.

You see the size of Brazil and Argentina?! Not to mention that is their number one sport. Of course they have men playing every corner of the world, but that don't mean they near good. So that argument is bullocks.

How many people playing in Vietnam does play on national teams?

Playing in Vietnam is a funeral.

« on: October 11, 2011, 11:19:35 AM »
“The speed of the play is very quick,” Mitchell told MLSsoccer.com after Thursday’s win. “Back home, there is more passing at the back. I find I adapted very quick and now I’ll try to push on from here and have another wonderful performance.”

i find this to be very interesting.. All our players go abroad and always comment on the speed of play as opposed to ours @ home. Yet we dont seem inclined to change our style to meet international standards.

More passing @ the back  = more goals conceded..

 :beermug:

More passing at the back yes, but not enough touches in midfield. We finding that problem with our National Team too. Lack of composure in midfield, which would mean when we play teams that like to press, our defense would be in trouble.

In addition, somebody PLEASE CALL UP SHEANON WILLIAMS!!!!!!

Trinidadian defender Mitchell impressing early for 'Caps
Big center back brought in to shore up Vancouver on set pieces
OCTOBER 5, 2011
Martin MacMahon
MLSsoccer.com

VANCOUVER, B.C. – It’s early days, but deadline-day signing Carlyle Mitchell seems to be quietly impressing the Vancouver Whitecaps.

The Trinidad and Tobago international signed for the Whitecaps just before the roster freeze but didn’t join up with the club for practices until last week due to paperwork.

“He’s a good athlete,” captain Jay DeMerit told MLSsoccer.com after training on Tuesday. “Obviously, with the first couple of days, he’s still trying to find his feet, but I think he’ll be a good asset to our squad and as the season goes on we’ll see if he can filter into the team and do his job, because I know that’s what he’s here to do.

The 24-year-old joined the club from Trinidadian side Joe Public, which plays in the TT Pro League and is owned by former FIFA vice president Jack Warner.

Scoring has been a problem for the ‘Caps this season, especially off set pieces, so while Mitchell is primarily a defender, the hope is that the 6-foot-1 center back can make the side more dangerous on restarts.

“He’s got a lot of qualities than translate well to our league,” interim head coach Tom Soehn said. “The difficulty is him only being here a week, but the athleticism and his feet – you see a lot of qualities you think you can build off. And he’s very aggressive off set pieces, which you like.”

Mitchell played his first organized match with Vancouver during the club’s 1-0 Reserve League loss to the Portland Timbers on Monday, and the first thing he noticed was the increased pace of MLS.

“The standard was a pretty good standard – faster than my league back home,” he said. “I adapted very good, but made one or two mistakes. But we’ll work on that in training.”

While Mitchell’s determined to improve, he’s also very aware of why he was brought in and what the ‘Caps need from him.

“I’ll bring my defensive skills to this team, which are being strong in the air, defending free kicks and corners and working with the rest of the back four,” he explained. “Attacking free kicks, attacking corners – any attacking corners or free kicks I’ll try my best to get my head onto it.”
