Football / Should we keep the "Soca" in the "Warriors"?
« on: March 26, 2005, 08:52:06 AM »

Gents, this debate has started up alot of conversation back home.

Many letters to the editor have stated they prefer the Soca in the name.

Also any team can be called the Warriors.......e.g I think Zimbabwe national team has the same name, but the Soca can only come from One place in the world.......Sweet T+T.

Lets have a vote!

Notable lines in the tune that had me smiling was......every tackle and every pass, we go have them eating grass.

And the second was, when we in the uniform.......Victory is the norm.

I hope they start ponging it a lil more regular, that and the Bungi one, as if the side get a positive result tomorrow they will be ble to get the waggonist out they house on Wed afternoon.

Listen out for it.

And mankind does want to know why dey does call we a TIN-POT outfit. :-[

I realise, due to the constant amount of chupidness and mickey mouse this side does put down, come like the norm to the un-indoctrinated on this site. Imagine men actually looking to make a excuse for the chupidness.

If we actually win any game in this hex it will be thru divine intervention and not preparation!

Alberta trini,

We had all that and more.........Simoes put that in place, is just them things cost money and we couldnt sustain it.

If Simoes was still around we wouldnt of be ketching we arse to beat small team right now.

In the few months he was in charge of the team we play good against JA, win a qualifier against Honduras away and draw 0-0 with the US in a WCQ all that in less than 2 months.

Them wasnt no easy feats but say wha when you pay peanuts you get monkey.

Until we put up some cash and get a proper programme in place we not going nowhere.

Sam you wicked eh!

But its true its the first time the man ent get call in a while.

The squad picking itself, anton pierre go be the left foot man in the back, with cox, dog and sancho as the others.

The middle go be jones, edwards, tiger and eve

with yorke and Stern upfront.

Tell me I lie there, Flip that formation anyhow you want but them is bertie boys.

I hope we get a friendly game......they have plenty team in Miami that could give them a competitive sweat. They could go in any park too, the fields up there perfect.

Rocwell desperation is not the word, I just trying to see if I could identify some kinda help to boost this side we have here.

Its only good intentions, and you have some merit, but I feel you have to see for yourself.

Lewwe just say I not seeing any difference between the foreign based, and the local boys........namely the ones playing for Jab.

If the warriors could get the knock, speed and cohesion of Jab I will be happy. That is the benchmark I using and as you doe rate them very high and given your standards, then this should be a easy or reasonable target to achieve not so?

Having said that the national team still woefully short of this standard and they have not done anything to convince the nation otherwise

Lewwe just say a prayer for the team and wish them the best because thats all we could do for them at this point in time, apart from showing up in the game and making noise.

Rocwell we go agree to disagree I understand your analysis, but I ent think you see the big grim picture yet. Anyhow unto Guatemala.

Rocwell,

My point is even doe jabloteh lorse they look like they have an idea.

The warriors losing and they looking hopeless.

They losing against teams that are not the best in the region, they losing against Antigua in friendly, they losing in digicell and in WCQ. Me ent know how you compare teams but they have no way Antigua, Bdos, St kitts or St Vincent better than the shittiest MLS side.

Funny enough your second to last point about past or present national players just confirms a hypothesis I have, if they could look so good when playing for club why when they play for TT they does purge down deyself.

Also the second and most pertinent point is............Lemme spell it out and stop beating round the bush for alyuh who playing blind.........BERTIE ENT HAVE A F!^&king CLUE.

I know you trying hard to find a excuse or defend this warriors team but the fact is they playing shit. I sorry if I get excited by jabloteh....... I see something that I wish was replicated in our national team in all areas. I also see some players who if bertie wasnt in charge woulda be on the national team today.

I just want the TT team do well. if you was in the Jab game you wouldnt of ask them kinda questions and play you looking for answers. Doe try to figure out the jokeyness and mickey mouse that is TT football, just accept and move on. Accept we shitty, accept we making the same mistakes and accept is only prayers or a miracle could get us to Germany in the state we in. I see a brand of ball on Tuesday that look like it could beat side. When last I check TT ent play nuttin that look like it beating anybody period. I play optimist for too long, I does continue hoping but reality set in a lil while now.

Why we cyar have a team chemistry as this side training constantly for over a year now? Why we still have a home core training and when game come no friendly and 9 of the 11 is foreign based who come 2 days before the game. Why do we call back men, who injured, just come orf injury list or who benching for they side, while the men who training hard and giving they all does get leave behind. Why do we have players who cyar cut it be like parasite on the side, go on all tours and never get a sweat. Why do we feel foreign based better than local......when all foreign based were local at some point in time. Only foreigner that worthy of sure pick is Shaka and Dog all the rest we could save airfare and source from PFL. Fellas doe be fooled, the ones who does make side ent the best in TT. Politics keeping plenty of the talent away.

Anyhow we go see in two weeks time how much points we have. Anything less than 4 points and we go get the same headline in the papers............TT now has a mathematical chance of qualification.

But in the interim I go be watching my tv for the Guatemala game and I will be in the Stadium for the Costa rica match, hoping we do something.

Football / Express and Guardian Jabloteh reports
« on: March 17, 2005, 07:40:33 PM »
Alright fellas look what the papers saying!

Express report

http://www.trinidadexpress.com/index.pl/article_sports?id=67413546

A NOT so friendly pre-season warm-up match saw three footballers from CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh sent off by referee Ramesh Ramdhan as the visiting New York/New Jersey Metrostars twice rallied from behind to beat the former local champions 3-2 on Tuesday night at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

The game was arranged to cement a relationship which began last year when the Metrostars signed Jabloteh forward Cornell Glen. That arrangement resulted in a battle on Tuesday night.

Unable to match the speed and skill of the local players and seemingly willing to appreciate that this was just a preseason match, the Americans were the main instigators of the rough tackling.

And while Referee Ramesh Ramdhan failed to put an end to the rough stuff, it escalated further when the Jabloteh players started to retaliate. Eventually the rough action resulted in an all out brawl in the second half. When the fracas ended, Jabloteh substitute Michael Celestine had received a second yellow card for retaliating in the 71st minute, taking Jabloteh's toll of players sent off to three, following the earlier dismissals of both Trent Noel and Charles Pollard.

Midfielder Noel and Guyanese Pollard, a new signing from North East Stars, were both sent off in the 68th minute.

Charles got the first of two yellow cards when retaliating, after he was the victim of a dangerous tackle imposed on him by Metrostars' Tim Ward. Trent Noel put in an equally rough tackle on one of the Americans to earn a straight red card. And when Pollard put in a wrong word to Ramdhan, he too was sent for an early shower. Celestine, who had received some roughing up earlier, followed two minutes later after he brought down another of the Metrostars and received a second yellow card as well. Ramdhan also dished out cautions to Michael Bradley, Amado Guevara and Sereio Galvanrey of the Metrostars.

Before the dismissals, the teams were balanced 2-2, with Jabloteh looking the

more likely to win. Midfielder Kerry Baptiste gave them a 26th minute lead when sweeping in a crossball which defender Tim Ward failed to clear.

But two minutes later, striker John Wolyniec levelled the scores at 1-1 after banging a rebound past Daurance Williams in the Jabloteh goal. Gilberto Flores had breached Jabloteh's right flank and hit a crisp shot, which Williams parried straight to John Wolyniec in the centre of the penalty area.

A minute into the second session, Jamaican Nicholas Addlery, a new Jabloteh recruit, outpaced the Metrostars backline and slipped the ball under the dive of the Metrostars keeper Zach Wells to put his team into a 2-1 lead. They might well have gone further ahead had substitute Josh Johnson slipped the ball wide to strike partner Devon Mitchell instead of shooting to goal. Instead, the Metrostars broke on the counter-attack through Flores on the right flank and his short pass picked out Wolyniec, who lifted the ball past Williams to level the game at 2-2 in the 61st minute.

Jabloteh turned up the pressure, coming close through Mitchell and Trent Noel, before the sendings off. To add salt to their wounds, substitute Mark Lisi drilled a low, hard shot past Williams from long range in the 86th minute to give the Metrostars a 3-2 lead and victory.

Guardian Report

http://www.guardian.co.tt/sports9.html

Forward Mark Lisi and his New York/New Jersey MetroStars teammates capitalised on the sending off of three CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh players to record a come-from-behind 3-2 win.

The match, the second of a double-header at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, was supposed to be a friendly, but from early on it was evident that international referee Ramesh Ramdan would be in for a torrid time and by the end of the 90 minutes Ramdan had dished out eight yellow and three red cards.

Unluckily for Jabloteh, three of their players were the ones who saw red—defender Charles Pollard, midfielder Trent Noel and second-half substitute Michael Celestine.

Despite the fast-paced start to the match, the teams were each limited to one real attempt at goal—Jabloteh through Otis Seaton on the 15-minute mark, and the MetroStars seven minutes later through striker John Wolyniec.

Jabloteh eventually went ahead 1-0 in the 26th minute through an alert Kerry Baptiste, who was one of their best players that night, together with Seaton.

Baptiste fired home a low shot past Wells, after defender Tim Ward failed to clear a Nigel Pierre centre from the left side.

Wolyniec answered with the equaliser just three minutes later, hammering a Gilberto Flores rebound past goalie Daurance Williams. Flores was sent through down the right side by Amado Guevara before Williams denied him.

Sergio Galvin Rey had a chance to give MetroStars the lead on the half-hour mark but his volley from a Wolyniec left-sided centre, was kept out by the feet of Williams.

Two minutes into the second-half, Jabloteh regained the lead when a Pierre flick-on from a right side throw-in just over the half-line, put the ball into the path of Nicholas Addlery, the home team’ speedy Jamaican forward.

Addlery held of the challenge of two retreating defenders and slipped the ball into the far corner of the net for a 2-1 lead.

Jabloteh coach Michael Grayson then made a number of substitutions which seemed to upset the chemistry of his team while the MetroStars coach Bob Bradley also introduced fresh-legs into the match.

Josh Johnson, one of Jabloteh’s substitutes, got the ball into the net in the 57th minute, but the play was ruled off-side.

Wolyniec then almost tied the score for the second time, but his left-footed shot from an acute angle was bravely put around the post for a corner kick by a diving Keyeno Thomas, who needed treatment afterwards for taking the ball on his stomach.

The burly Wolyniec made no mistake with his next chance at goal, as he skilfully glanced an angled pass from Galvan Rey over the outstretched Williams, into the top left of the goal in the 61st minute.

The match then turned extremely physical, with Pollard and Guevara being cautioned in the 73rd minute after a minor scrimmage.

Pollard soon got marching orders for a second offence—a brutal sliding tackle on MetroStars defender Ademir Dos Santos—and he was joined by teammate Trent Noel, who drew the wrath of Ramdan for verbal dissent.

The visitors capitalised on their two-man advantage minutes later as Mark Lisi, a 64th-minute replacement for Michael Bradley, blasted home the match winner from 25 yards, leaving Williams with no chance.

Soon after, a frustrated Celestine picked up his second yellow card, which left Jabloteh to finish the match with eight players.

In the night’s opener, Jabloteh’s Under-16s crushed the national women’s team 9-0.

MetroStars will end their two-match friendly series in Trinidad with a match against VIBE CT 105 W Connection at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella tomorrow from 7 pm.

Breds I want you all to see the team listing tomorrow in the official report and compare the sides.

I understand the arguement you all putting fwd but the team chemistry and pace is something the national team doe have. Also this Jabloteh side was playing like a well oiled coached machine and they look like they have an idea. I cant say the same for the Warriors who ent make any considerable improvement.

Pierre was slow on the field but his attacking partner whoever it was had speed so as Pierre lay orf the ball the other man was running to goal.

Eve play good believe it or not and the few free kicks that Jabloteh did had Imagination and they were effective.

Daniel is better than anywing back Bertie experiment with thus far and Whitley is the best midfielder TT have currently.

The supporting midfield all have something that the current national team doe have.

Ancil elcock was the purger in the back, ove beating and lorsing the ball on occasion but he play with heart and if you remember the game against the Brazilians which was his last in national colours he showed he was still able to handle it. Not his best game but the man still is competent.

I doe think you realise that PFL standard has improved, but lemme say this.

The locals who was on show yesterday play much better than what I have seen from the national team. I ent want to equate Antigua, St vincent, St kitts and Barbados with the Metrostars, but Metrostars to me.......yes my opinion, better than them national teams and the warriors lorse and struggle with theses sides. Jabloteh more than handle this team.

TEAM CHEMISTRY, player selection and COACHING is the reasons why the warriors struggling right now. Bertie shoulda watch Jabloteh last night and see how  a TT team supposed to look.

Scott sealy was in the stands, someone looking like fitzpatrick was on the metrostars bench and the whole w connection team and the pro leage ceo dexter skene were among those I saw in the stands.

When tv6 show the clips later tonight all the doubters go hush.

Football / Jabloteh vs Metrostars report
« on: March 15, 2005, 08:26:47 PM »
Gents,

Well I cyar say this is a report but I will fill you in on some action that took place.

When I left the stadium when they had a small scuffle on the field Jabloteh had 9 men. Metro stars were leading 3-2 and it was non stop action ALL night.

If we are to qualify for Germany all we have to do is let the Jabloteh side put on the national colours and run out.

This team would have won the Copa Caribee with ease and we would have distressed the Americans on Ash wed.

Talk about Speed, tactical awareness, excellent possession, movement off the ball, fitness and most of all skills and aggression, with a real fighting spirit.

I saw it vs Tivoli gardens when they rough them up and manners them but tonight against the metrostars Jabloteh real play ball.

Metrostars took their chances well and the last goal was a real beauty a bullet from 30 yards.

The second item was a man running up the wing and crossing the ball for a player to slot home. I cant remember the first goal.

Jabloteh items were good a deadly cross was swung in and the deender fumbled with led to the jabloteh striker putting it away.

They second item was some neat passes, a long ball sent tru where nigel pierre flicked the ball with a back header unto the fwd who ran away and slotted home.

Jabloteh scored another but it was deemed offside.

This jabloteh squad was firing bullet at the post and there was a header on goal froma cross which came orf a defender. I dont know how it didnt score.

This is the first team to trap and pass accurately, plenty pretty flick and when they have the ball wich was about 70% of the time it was just wave after wave of attack and they look like scoring and they had a clue.

OVERS Stern John and Yorke and put in the jabloteh fwds who have speed and who running.

Nigel daniel have real speed and is the answer for the wingback position. The man was sending accurate pin point bullet crosses over and over with pressure on him, dribbling when necessary and he tackling good. Why he cyar make the squad is anyones guess when the man know what he doing.

Also the most talented midfielder we have right now not on the socawarriors team.......Aurthis whitley/Otis Seaton is the man.

Fellas the man good...he tackling, have a bullet, he moving into space, he have speed and he have beat and skills for days. Bertie and the ttff have to be real chupid to leave this man orf the side.

Even though Jab lorse its because they had 9 men and even still they were running and playing ball. When you watch team playing good ball like Jab you doe mind that they lorse, because you could say its hard luck, the amount of chances that were created and saved and the level of entertainment make you want to watch football.

As for Metrostars.........they didnt have a clue, they were chasing shadows whole game but when they got the fast break they fwds nippy and slot it home when it mattered.

Please TTFF/Bertie......the slow fwds we have ent cutting it. Trap and screen from Yorke and stern and the boom kick from the inefficient wingbacks ent cutting it.

Call back Shaka and Andrews and put in the Jabloteh team. We will make germany easy.

Football / Re: 'Star boy' football not working
« on: March 10, 2005, 05:13:55 PM »
Whappenin really is............ we star boys are not stars.

They feel they good but in the big picture none of them besides Shaka right now are Class players.

Latas and Yorke when in prime were class. The rest of men on the squad now are average squad players for their respective European teams. EXCEPT ANDREWS, who is a beast for Rangers.

All ANdrews need is a good partner in the back and that player will make him look good. Its just nobody on his level and nobody there to cover his deficiencies. Besides in Scotland his role is to butt out air ball and he does that job damn good.

So essentially what the TT team need is 11 men to perform 11 specific roles good. So far only Shaka does do he job properly.
The rest of them still struggling, imagine we have a wing back system with men who doe and cyar overlap, and to make matters worse cyar cross a ball to save they life, with no pressure on them.

Our top striker Mr John.....cannot take a ball and run at a defense beat a man one v one or start any form of quick attack. Its a trap and screen specie with he. He good at walking about, holding he waist and Falling down. Right now is a good bench he need in he tail from Bertie..

We have a midfield/defence that cyar mark and who point and shadow and jockey men when they running at us instead of stepping up and breaking down the play.

Lastly I ent mean to cry down our players but really compared to other GOOD National teams.....man for man they shitty, maybe not in terms of skill. But in terms of intelligence, playing simple and executing instructions. They ent have a clue.

This is why USA with they average players could match up and beat nearly every team in the world now with they manufactured robot football.

Lastly nobody respect we or we star boys.....is pure kick and blade, and our star boy doe play better when they get kick like Ronaldinho and Zidane. Our star boy does fold up like roti and shout and argue with they team mates and make excuse in the inteview after.

4819
Actually we could handle them........alyuh forget the 5 Jabloteh rest on Chicago Fire the other day. :D

Doe worry about the 4 they collect in the 2nd leg but we could score on them fellas.

I will be in the Jabloteh game in hasley crawford........yes I have to duck class and might reach lil late but you will get a report.

Imagine Agoos is a big player...........the only man he ever manners and manners well is Dwight Yorke. He and Lalas make Dwight they pet.

Other than that agoos does get rip from everybody.

Say what it will be a good game, and I sure arturis whitley/otis seaton will get a good look maybe even a contract after this.

Football / Costa Rica to play WCQ behind closed doors
« on: March 09, 2005, 10:21:31 PM »
Costa Rica fans banned after violence
SAN JOSE, March 9 (Reuters) - Costa Rica have been fined and ordered to host their next World Cup qualifier behind closed doors after fans rioted following their defeat by Mexico last month, the national federation (Fedefutbol) has said.

World body FIFA fined Costa Rica 20,000 Swiss francs ($17,000) and ordered them to play Panama in the CONCACAF qualifiers behind closed doors at the Saprissa stadium in the capital on March 26, Fedefutbol chairman Hermes Navarro said.

Costa Rica fans threw objects including coins and batteries onto the pitch after Mexico won 2-1, their first win in San Jose in a World Cup qualifier, on February 9.

A Fedefutbol statement on Tuesday said Costa Rica would appeal as they consider the sanctions harsh.

Mexico and the U.S. lead the six-nation CONCACAF final qualifying group with three points each after the first round of matches. The U.S. also won 2-1 at Trinidad & Tobago while Panama drew 0-0 at home against Guatemala.

The top three sides qualify directly for the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany. The fourth-placed team will play off against an Asian team.
