I don't think Lawrence is the answer.  Like Roberto Martinez, his teams are displaying defensive frailties.

De man was offside by a mile for one play, and instead of not trying to interfere with play, he proceeded to take the ball from the oncoming player.  That is simply unacceptable; common sense must prevail.  Maybe he was a bit nerved by the occasion.  I don't know.

Pep baptism of fire in EPL continues Everton 3-0

Pep said bout 11 men could leave at end of season.  He doesn't have all the pieces to play how he wants to, but no excuses - that squad is still stacked. The EPL is a different animal; it ain't no 2-team race.

The MLS is not an easy league to play in. Asked Gerrard about that.

You know what makes it hard? the overwhelming number of players whose only asset is to run and be strong but can't read the game or trap a ball

MLS needs to get more technical.  Too many fit laborers, not enough technicians.  It takes too long to put the ball on the mat in the MLS and defenders lack composure to play the ball out the back when pressed.  The best part of the league is the goalkeeping, if you ask me.  Loads of talent!

Agreed but every week you see Goalkeeper mistakes that seem out of one of those collections. Just think of 2015 MLS cup for instance.

Still, the pool is about 6-7 deep, in terms of GKs who are outstanding.

Well all I could say is the attackers did their job today...we needed 2 and they provided 3 (doh mind how ugly it looked).

Unfortunately, the defenders couldn't get their job done, which we grow accustom to...sadly!

Way to step up for yuh country Winchester! Put some respeck on the kid name!

lol nonsense

Ent.

Also, were we ever 2 goals ahead at any moment? NO!

Not surprising at all cuz defensively we poor...tactically we can't get it done cuz we very passive....we lack that defensive awareness and concentration needed to shutout teams and Constantly players remind us that defensively they irresponsible and untrustworthy...mentality we don't have a consistent desire to win we own individual battles on the pitch throughout 90+ mins...so we always ready to concede a few goals doh matter the opposition.

On the available evidence, Adrian Foncette is not up to the task. Point blank. Even with other defensive issues, a higher standard of care is needed between the sticks.

Trinidad's GK pool is probably the weakest I've seen in my lifetime.  None of these guys are good enough to be in Europe.  Foncette is not international std.

Trinidad football still has a mentality that defenders defend, midfielders and strikers score goals.  So, midfielders, especially the "star boys" don't work off the ball when we don't have it, nor do strikers track back.  Forget about defending higher up the pitch.  Our players don't have the discipline and drive to high press.

Yeah, this weekend was a bit of a letdown.  We missed Matip tremendously.  I hope we go after de Vrij or Jonathan Tah to partner with Matip.  Lovren is still rash in the tackle, and is not a calming influence in the middle of the defense.  Karius is somewhat like de Gea, in that it is taking him time to adjust to the more physical EPL.  We'll see what Klopp decides to do with the GK position.

Curious to know what kind of rehab Cummings was put through.  It'd be sad if he doesn't return to his former self.  I honestly said that he presented a challenge to Morino regaining a starting spot because he slotted in so effectively.  This crime thing is for real...smh

yuh need to watch T&T vs MEX last two encounters, you will see a rhythm, more so after being two goals behind, down to the very last second of the game with a corner kick an being showered with plastic bottles, is goal, this rhythm is no fluke, it is not about one player, it is because of this rhythm why it is called the beautiful game, an we have it and Hart will get it to Russia starting with costa rica...
Gold cup football and World cup football is 2 different types of football in the Gold cup teams try out players formation etc so Hart got away with that open football game but in the WC is the real deal teams tighten up there defense and study there opponent very well so there is no more open games.

Gold Cup is a serious tournament, equivalent to the Copa or European Cup.  Teams come to play and the squads are usually stacked.  I don't quite agree with your argument.  We play on the counter under Hart, so I wouldn't consider that open football.  We just need to tighten things up at the back, and the midfielders need to track the runners all the way into the box.

B St Clair had the same problem when he was T&T coach and they was able to fix the problem when they fired him.

That was a quick fix.  Exactly what I was talking about.  Has the mentality changed, longterm?  Not really.

Football / Fire Stephen Hart Thread

This dude out of touch.  Hart has gotten the team to play more possession football out of the back.  Problem is that the player pool is not deep, and we need to not make poor decisions in the defensive and middle third of the field.  One of the goals in the Martinique game came from a player attempting to make a weak backward header to his teammate.  The ball was intercepted by a Martinique player, leading to a counter and a goal. We suffer from serious lapses in concentration and poor decision making.

The quality of the player pool is overrated.  Without our main front three vs Martinique, we looked ordinary.  I'll say it again:  The Pro League is not cutting it.  The level of play is somewhat stagnant, and it will not improve until the coaching stock improves.

By the way, it's way too early for this fire Hart talk.

Possession football is when a team could knock the ball around with about 7 touch's not watching J Jones L Garcia and C Cato run up the field with the ball. When a player makes poor decisions in the defensive and middle third of the field its his fault but when a team does it that's the coach's fault.

Firing Hart now would be the difference between 3rd and 4th spot.

In general, we've been playing possession football, although I can't vouch that was the case vs Martinique.  You're looking for a quick fix: aka Beenie.  Well, that's not going to happen.  I'll admit that I am concerned about the complacency that has crept into the team lately, but overall, we've been a vastly improved team under Hart.  We've earned some respect from the big names in Concacaf, as we're no longer a door mat; we've been much more competitive.

Where's Cummings at with his rehab?  Before he got shot in the knee, I was saying that Molino wasn't guaranteed to walk straight back into the first 11.

My take on the game:

• We created enough chances, but the two Jones, Hyland, and Molino need to be more ruthless.

• We missed Bateau.  He is our best CB.  We need to find a way to clear our lines.  That first goal was a frico.

• Our fullbacks were very poor defensively tonite.  We looked ragged when the point of attack was changed.  Tracking the runner coming in on the weak side was nonexistent.  The midfielders have to share some of that blame.

• Looks like Pulisic had a gun in his waist tonite, because we couldn't stop him when he ran with the ball. USA's most promising player in quite a while.  Come Dortmund, Klopp coming back for him again.  He's worth more than the £11 mil we bid for him.  Dortmund will sell at the right price; they will sell their birthright...lol

Bottom line:  The GK stock in Trinidad is not a rich one; we've been recycling the same individuals and there's only one GK that's up to international standard.  Marvin Philip is weak on cross balls and does not inspire confidence in his back line, as next in line.  That league is better organized and probably of a higher standard than the Pro League, with greater depth and quality at the GK position.  It would not hurt to have a closer look at this youth, especially considering the season he's having.

First of all, I want to say that the GK pool in the U.S. is superior to Trinidad.  Just taake a look at the MLS, and you'll see that the GK standard is better than the overal standard of play.  America is blessed with high GK talent because of the nature of the sports they play that all demand hand to eye coordination and catching:  American football, baseball, lacrosse, basketball.  Secondly, the USL is not a bad league, although it has been marred by a split into two competing leagues.   This guy can't be any worse off than the options we currently have.  The reports have been good, and now Hart maybe needs to scout him some more.  We have two GKs in the setup that have not been convincing in their displays recently, and they're not going to get much better; they're aging.
