Scary how DJW does not respect the space of Hart.  He is an ole school headmaster that only knows about cracking the whip.  He lacks tact and diplomacy.

This Pro League will only get better when the coaching stock gets better.  We need to seriously invest in our coaching; they are 20 years behind.  What's even more scary is the John Williams is trying to resurrect some of these obsolete coaches' careers.

Fitting end to Bakr's nite.  Big gulf between local based; good learning curve.  Cyar say Hart ain't giving men an opportunity to stake their claim for a spot on this team.  All in all, we lack penetration in the final third.  Our movement in the final third was static tonite.  Philips has to do better on a couple of those goals; cyar get beat first post like the third goal.

Marvin Philips is at a point where he is not going to get any better.  He shouldn't be beaten for that first goal.

I think Bostock will be a good addition.  The team needs freshening up a bit...some complacency is creeping in.

he will be...
Seems like a versatile midfielder, so keen to see where Hart will use him.  Sounds like he prefers to orchestrate in the middle though.

he would be ideal next to levi and above boucard, using boucard as the holding mid... i would sit hyland...
Competition is good.  Some men starting to feel their pick us automatic.

This Technical Committee is a positive thing and Dr Alvin Henderson should have been heading it...Dexter Skeene cannot  carry Alvin boots..

I am from south and I can say as a south man Alvin knows Trinidad football..he has represented his country at the senior level on many occasions and did so with distinction.

His committment to football at the grassroots level in Trinidad is unparralleled. He has helped and inspired many players at all levels. He carried the Coffee Giants on his shoulders...he led by example..

He is also a Howard man and one of the players who were on the team that won Howard it's lone NCAA championship...So I don't like the idea of anyone on this site trying to discredit Alvin...

He saved a life on the football field ...a player fell suffering from cardiac arrest ..he kept the player alive...
many players who suffered injuries during a game he would be the first to help and the one all the players looked to...He is a dedicated football man...He spent a lifetime in football besides the practice of medicine..the wise cracker should retract any negative statement made about this man.

This has nothing to do with Henderson personally.  Fact is, the modern game has left that technical committee behind.  I'm from South too and I've been fortunate to have trained under Henderson.  My concern is whether this technical committee is up to the task.  How many of these coaches on that panel do sabbaticals where they go observe the best coaches and soak in their methods?  Probably none.  They're dated.  The game has moved on.

You replace a proven coach from a premier US women's collegiate institution with two NCAA titles for Notre Dame with a coach who can't even stand next to him.  This is the fear I had about John Williams.  I'd like to know the basis for his decision.  He then proceeds to install a bunch of recycled, obsolete coaches that the game has left behind as his technical committee.  Watch that technical committee go after Hart because of their xenophobia.  Smh

Football / Thread for the T&T vs USA Game (17-Nov-2015)

Gotta say that the defending, although with room for improvement, looks much more solid than previous teams.  Playing abroad, including the MLS, has helped us tremendously.   I love the way men are tracking the runners off the ball and on the overlap.  I actually saw Hart applaud a player who tracked the runner on the right defensive flank late in the game.  We are finally learning to defend as a team.  We didn't press as much tonite (as the Guatemala game), which in my opinion, we're better at than sitting back and clogging the channels, but we still looked much better than the Mexico games when we sat deeper late in the match.  This team plays for their coach.

Thought our possession was better in the second half, especially building out the back.  Our finishing was a bit hurried and that was probably one of our greatest deficiencies tonite.  We've got to make the opposing keeper work, when presented with the opportunity.

This team was well prepared:
• Comfortable in possession from back to front
• Comfortable dealing with the barrage of crosses from Guatemala
• Lethal on the counter
• Defending higher up the pitch with a Kloop-like press

Football / Re: The gap in CONCACAF closes.
« on: July 27, 2015, 10:43:18 PM »

Maybe the gap closed for this tournament. If this happens for the WC and the next 2 GCs then we can say, yes, we on par with them. If the various Caribbean countries get 1/3 of the resources Mex and US get, to prepare their teams, then will see a real shake up. TT will continue to struggle as long as this impasse continues. Really it was funny to see Klinnmans is a state of despair. And yes, the tournament is geared for Mex and US to meet in the final. This tournament is about making money. It is held every 2 years. It is not rigged. We need some more display like JA, Haiti and TT to upset the status quo. We have to earn respect.

The players have a say in this now. They either put up or shut up. Not being disrespectful to them. Form your players association. Go to TTFA and MoS, and give them an ultimatum. Fix it or we walk. At least you guys have a job playing football. Not like Sammy Llwelyn, Buggy Haynes, Chris Pierre, Nobby Phillips and some I can't remember. These men use to sacrifice and play, and hardly ever get compensation. And I am sure most times they got none at all.

The players also have to done individual training to build their strength and stamina. Proper diet, sleep, less alcohol and friggin weed. Many of them need to spend some time in the weight room. The TT team is a 60 mins team. The game is 90 + 30 if you were to get thru the first round.

The pro clubs have to step up their product also. Our local guys are not ready for this type of competition. Or at least prove us wrong in the upcoming Club championship. If some of the foreign players are not regular starters in their clubs and get get priority over local players, then that shows that the standard of the pro leagues as a lot of kvetching up to do.

Agreed.  International coaches are not expected to teach players to improve technically.  They don't have enough days with their respective national teams per year for that sort of thing.  Problem is that in truth, we don't have a truly professional league:  the facilities are substandard, the coaching is 10-15 years behind, in terms of scientific approach, and there isn't enough depth in squads, so "star boy" players are not pushed enough, and bad habits are enabled.

What I didn't see in this Jamaica team over the tournament was natural flair.  That might be because of the number of Brits that started.  About 7 of the first 11 in the final vs Mexico were British-born.  They're disciplined in keeping the team's shape, but that natural Caribbean flair is not in them.  We need to be mindful of the mix, when we attempt to recruit the foreign-born that are eligible to play for us.  If they're not better than what is available domestically, no point in selecting them.

These two men politicking with the football.  All we want is for them to act as two objective men and deal with the football business.  Both men in politics.  I don't care who they are affiliated with politically; I want them to fund the football and give Stephen Hart the resources he needs to prepare this team for the qualifiers.  This is damn shit now.  We have a good coach that the players want to play for; people observing that we have a philosophy as to how we want to play.  If we keep this shit up, Hart will have no choice but to walk.  He's been very patient thus far.  Something gotta give after this election, for the sake of our football.

We are actually playing possession football, building out of the back.  The players look very comfortable playing out of tight spaces.  The defense looks solid on dealing with cross balls.  Hart is turning water into wine, because he hasn't been afforded the resources required to properly prepare this team.

Thank you, Bakes.  To my recollection, it was a tweak in the midfield that gave us more control in the second half.  We basically shortened the pitch and squeezed Swansea's ability to play out of the back in the second half.
