« on: September 22, 2005, 12:49:32 PM »
Ah guess we need to be objective and say yes they should represent Trinidad.  Shaka Hislop was perhaps the biggest holdout, and what make that bad was that he grew up in Trinidad, and represented the country at the youth level.  Yet, he held aspirations of representing England at senior level.  So to berate men like Zamora and dem, when one of our own products held out for so long is hypocritical.  These men would definitely make us more competitive.  Going to the World Cup is an echievement in itself, but it  makes no sense making the long trek to the river and not being able to taste the water.  We need to be competitive and not be complacent about playing on the biggest stage.  The flip side is that countries like Germany are blanking Brazilians who could add some needed creativity to their play because of a lack of affinity to Germany.  A few weeks ago, Klinsmann blanked a Brazilian (ah forget he name) who offered his services to the national team, saying that there had to be some sort of ties to the country, and that it was not only about becoming a German national.

Fergie always said that even when Yorke was in the tabloids like a daily staple, he was always in the upper tier in terms of fitness.  The real reason why Fergie got rid of him was because he didn't like the lifestyle Yorke was leading.  Fergie is a sort of old fashioned manager; he likes his players to concentrate on football, and not all that extracirricular that often accompanies stardom on the pitch.

Local coaches get 'D' Licence

THE TRINIDAD and Tobago Football Federation have completed another
successful "D" Licence course for local coaches on Sunday at the
Woodford Lodge, Chaguanas.

While all the attention has been on the Warriors race to qualify for
the 2006 World Cup in Germany, Federation Technical Director Lincoln
Phillips and his staff have not turned away from the development exercises.

Among the coaches and players were the former top goalkeeper with 30
other coaches in the just concluded "D" Licence course.

Other similar courses have taken place which has resulted in 160
coaches graduating and now looking forward to the "C" Licence course
which Phillips, a qualified FIFA instructor, says will come on stream
later this year once approved by the TTFF.

"We intend to also have this 'D' Licence course in the eastern county
region and other rural areas as well because while the big picture is
obviously on the World Cup and what the national teams do, we also
need to focus on development and it starts with the coaches,"
Phillips said yesterday. "The focus on the 'D' Level is mostly
technical. Coaches are exposed to the modern methods of coaching and
the technical aspect of the game as it's related to the game itself,"
Phillips said.

"For example all passing exercises will have implications for the
game....always dynamic. Static ! drills, long lines, long lectures
are replaced with challenging and fun-filled game related exercises," he said.

The 'D' Licence is getting coaches to learn how to do the job with
players between the ages of 10-13 and indirectly we are dealing with
youth development as well," Phillips added.

And in the midst of all this corruption and miasma of shadyness, we football will take three steps backward.  Same thing: we trying to build this thing for a one-time shot, and there is no thought of continuity.  Ah bet yuh if we ain't make this thing, we ain't go play friendlies for about a year.  Look at Jamaica.  They ain't in the hexagonal, but they've been playing some pretty decent opposition, trying to get a core of players ready for 2010.  We better learn from we mistakes yes.

Keene rack up.  No way Spurs finishing above Pool.  They will lose steam, while we haven't really started rolling yet.  The good thing is that we have played some of the more competitive teams early out and haven't lost to any of them.  That's points won that was lost last season.  We're not scoring, but we're not conceding goals either.

Biased poll.  P. Town undefeated so far, after having drawn with Naps and beating Benedicts in the Commons, and Mayaro away.  Yet, they get not even a sniffling of a mention here. Fellas, read the news and stop living on past glory with some of these teams.

Good.  The man laying the foundation; the part of the buliding that does take the longest to complete.  We needed this ten years ago, but  we keep tinkling with the orrf of the house (senior team), when the problem was with the roots.

Football / Re: SSFL battles to save Tobago Zone.
« on: September 14, 2005, 12:14:59 PM »
Good question. I ain't hearing nothing about the Central zone too.  Together with Tobago, the SSFL needs to do some serious soul searching to decide what is the best manner to allow teams from these areas to compete and be competitive.  The tobago zone is very disorganized, while I ain't think that there are enough quality teams to have a Central zone.  Ireckin that the top Senior League temas in the North, East, and South might beat a few of the Central teams.  No disrespect, but they only have about three decent teams in the Central Zone.

let de fellas play ball.  Ah couls understand if it were interfering with the team's performance or upsettign tem chemistry, but men have perogative.  So what if ah man want to wear extensions, and what if ah man want to keep he hairstyle in a dreadlocks?  That ain't stop man like Brian Willliams from being standouts.  These fellas need to focus on the technical aspects of their coaching style, and let the players play.

Is ah science! We ain't get it down put yet.  Do we have a nutritionist on hand?  Ah know that the fellas dem say that at a hotel in Miami, de chef try to cook them curry.  Ah traveling team nutritionist would have instructed for a more balanced meal.  It ain't seem like we at that level yet.  These things does mean the difference between a team that has that extra pep during an extra tiem game, for example.

Corneal didn't get enough time to fot hij in with the U 20s, and since then, I don't think anyone has really tracked his progress.  Maybe we need to consider him as an option.  The only thing is how long will   lit take him to settle in.  We have two pressing games coming up and frankly speaking, there is no room for error, in terms of team selection.

Typical lazy journalists.  One line on the South match, because they too damn lazy to go down South and watch ah game.  They want to call in and get a score report..  That is why de football doh get the exposure it needs league-wide.  The SSFL need to do something about that.

Football have imperialism too.  De big powers have no respect for the little ones, and it is reflected in their attitude to our guys being able to represent their countries.  Is ah form of brazen disrespect for us.  Ah bet yuh he woudda never say that if he had ah French of Dutch international in he squad.

Touches ah hearing what yuh saying, and it makes a lot of sense, from an objective point of view.  I do believe however, that if we manage to make it to the world stage, we will go Looking for a few players to strengthen the squad.  That might create an uproar from supporters that say some of the foreign born eligible to represent us are playing a wait-and-see game, but the reality is that our local stock is not adequate enough to allow us to be competitive at the World Cup.  We've been sleeping on the development stage for over 10 years, and that's a damn shame.  Maybe we need to not make it and really concentrate on developing a core of U 20s for 2010.  Ah know I'll get some cussing from de forumites, but ah don't think we not learning we lesson at all.  Our lack of depth in our squad is as a result of a lack of proper player development over the last decade, and we are paying for that inadequacy on the field now.  WHo vex vex!  Right now though, we still need to be supportive 100 percent of the effort that the team is making right now.  We can't blame the players for the incompetencies of the TTFF.

My observations:

1. Our defenders look very vulnerable when isolated one v. one.
2. We need to capitalize on those half chances; that's what good teams do.
3. We're very susceptible to set pieces.  Don't know what it is, but this is the third free kick that has scored on us in about five games.

Football / Re: Goal Keeping
« on: September 08, 2005, 11:54:08 AM »
We cyan even muster enough shots on goal at times and he talking about an area where we have the deepest pool--Hislop, Ince, Jack, and even Fulham's Tony Warner (who approached us to play in the last campaign, and probably is still open to the idea of representing us).  Fella, yuh sounding like a very inexperienced and shallow evaluator of the game of football.  What we need is for our forwards to click, and for our midfielders to display a bit more trickery in their approach.  How about that?  The goalkeeping department is the least of our worries right now.  Yeah Jack was shaky at times versus the US, but he redeemed himself towards the end and got a fair review, at least.

3178
Sometimes ah does wonder what the rest of FIFA executives saying about Jack's efforts to help us.  Just now he go rig the games them, cause he love we so much, but it not materializing on the field.
