As many take the time to celebrate this special time of the year, I know there are some who are also afflicted by  various degrees of 'loss.' To those folks, I wish to offer a special pray and good wish for the strength and faith to move on despite the many afflictions.

Different people do have varying degrees of tolerance, resilience and adaptability. Even though, I have endured the cold climes for many years, at this time, I am looking forward to  a retirement back home. This place will never be 'home' no matter all the blessings. There is a physical comfort, safety. and  comfort but there is also a psychological detachment that is stronger than what is.

Reading the latest news in TNT does not do  a lot to comfort one who is looking southward. The rash of recent home invasions, robberies and callousness for human life are major deterrents yet I am comforted  by those expatriates from foreign European lands who have  chosen to reside in Trinidad. How are they doing it?

As I plan for this retirement, it is with hope faith and a greater love for TN that compels me to believe that home could still be a 'choice' maybe for at least six months of the year.

A special blessing to all who are afflicted with  loss at this time of the year.

For those who are most fortunate, what advice would you convey to someone for  a safe , healthy and prosperous existence in TNT?

Jokes / Life's little lessons

today's lesson:

Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater.

If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby.

If you give her a house, she'll give you a home.

If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal.

If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart.

She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.

So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit.

ONIONS & CHRISTMAS TREES

A family is at the dinner table. The son asks his father, 'Dad, how
many kinds of boobs are there?

The father, surprised, answers, 'Well, son, there are three kinds of
 boobs:
In her 20's, a woman's are like melons, round and firm.
In her 30's to 40's, they are like pears, still nice but hanging a
bit.
 After 50,
they are like onions'.

 'Onions?'

'Yes, you see them and they make you cry.'

This infuriated his wife and daughter so the daughter said,
'Mum, how many kinds of 'willies' are there?.

The mother, surprised, smiles and answers, 'Well dear,
a man goes through three phases.
In his 20's, his willy is like an oak
 tree, mighty and hard.
In his 30's and 40's, it is like a birch,
 flexible but reliable.
After his 50's, it is like a Christmas Tree.'

 'A Christmas tree?'

'Yes - the root's dead and the balls are just for decoration.'

Mc Cain was seated next to a little girl on an airplane He turned to her and said, 'Let's talk. I've heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.'

The little girl, who had just opened her book, closed it slowly and said to   Mccain, 'What would you like to talk about?'

'Oh, I don't know,' said Mccain. 'How about What Changes I Should Make To America ?' and he smiles.

'OK, ' she said. 'That could be an interesting topic. But let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same
stuff - grass - . Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass.
Why do you suppose that is?'

Mcain, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thinks about it and says, 'Hmmm, I have no idea.'

To which the little girl replies, 'Do you really feel qualified to change America when you don't know shit ?

Football / TTFF OR CSA/ Mitchell or Maturana..; different pile same......
« on: October 07, 2008, 03:43:24 PM »
In today's age, we ( TNT fans), tend to  think that the issues we are experiencing with our our team and the governing body of our football programs are endemic to just us. But I just came across this article from the Canadian Press and I leave it up to you to draw similarities to the sentiments as expressed by this player about the association and the coach.

Which of our national players and coaches could you substitute in this article?

Brennan demands soccer changes
Don't expect to see Jim Brennan playing for the Canadian national team anytime soon. Not as long as current manager Dale Mitchell remains in charge.

Brennan, 31, has been a fixture for Canada since making his international debut in 1999, but the Toronto FC defender cited growing frustration with both Mitchell and the Canadian Soccer Association as his reasons for temporarily walking away from the national team.
"I spoke to officials here at Toronto FC, my family and friends, and decided that it was best that I step down from the national team while the current manager is in place," Brennan confirmed to reporters on Tuesday.
"That's not to say I won't play for Canada again, it's just that there's a lot going on that I don't agree with, I don’t see eye to eye on a lot of things."

Brennan, who has played in 49 games for Canada, said he made the decision after Canada's recent loss to Mexico, but that he would be willing to return to the national team in time for next year's CONCACAF Gold Cup - provided Mitchell has been replaced as coach.
"We'll see, if someone else comes in for the Gold Cup next year and things are improving and I'm selected, then I'll be involved with Canada again. But for the time being I'm going to take a step back," said Brennan, who hasn’t informed the CSA of his decision.

Brennan has been used sparingly by Mitchell in Canada's current World Cup qualifying campaign.
He was an unused substitute in a 1-1 tie against Jamaica at BMO Field in August, came on for the final seven minutes of a 2-1 loss to Honduras in Montreal on Sept. 6, and was substituted out early in the second half of a 2-1 loss to Mexico four days later.

But the Toronto native insists it isn't a lack of playing time that led to his decision. Playing his cards close to his vest when pressed by reporters, Brennan would only say he has issues with how the team is being run both on the field by Mitchell, and off the field by the CSA. "I want to be very careful in what I say. There are a lot of issues. There are a few people who shouldn't be there, there are a few people on the bench who shouldn't be there," Brennan said. "When this World Cup campaign is over, I think a lot of players will come out and say how they feel, but they can't right now because of the situation."

While praising the work of assistant coaches Stephen Hart and Nick Dasovic, Brennan believes there are officials involved in the running of the team and the CSA that aren't qualified for the job.
"I have all the time in the world for Stephen and Nick. ... [But] there are a couple of people in the organization that you think, 'should they really be there?'" Brennan said.

Last week, Mitchell named his 20-man roster for Canada's upcoming qualifying games against Honduras (Oct.11) and Mexico (Oct. 15 in Edmonton). Brennan did not make the cut, which he said he has no problem with, but he felt the CSA showed a "lack of class" in not informing him personally of Mitchell's decision.
"I've played almost 50 games for Canada and I didn't even get a phone call saying I wasn’t on the team. I've played a lot of games for Canada, a lot of soccer during my career, and I think it's a respect issue," Brennan said.

"I give out respect and for them to not even pick up a phone and say you won't be involved - which is fair enough and I can handle that - but to not even get a call that I wasn't selected and there were a few other players in the same boat as me, I think it's disgraceful."

Canada and Jamaica are tied for third place in their CONCACAF semifinal qualifying group with one point apiece after three games. Mexico leads the group with nine points, followed by Honduras (six points).
Only the top two teams in the group move on to the final qualifying round, so Canada needs to win two of its final three games to have a chance to advance

Even though he's left the team, Brennan said he will be cheering for Canada as it attempts to pull off a miracle and qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
"I would love nothing more than for the guys to qualify and make it to the World Cup. Growing up as a kid, it's a dream every soccer player has, and the boys can do it, and if they do, I would be delighted for them and I would support them 110 per cent all the way," Brennan said.
"I wish them all the best and I hope they turn things around and make it to the World Cup."

Colombia fires coach Pinto
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

BOGOTA, Colombia - Jorge Luis Pinto was fired as coach of Colombia on Tuesday, less than a week after its second straight defeat in World Cup qualifying.

The unanimous decision of the Colombian Football Federation was announced by president Luis Bedoya, who also hired Pinto in December 2006.

Eduardo Lara, the coach of Colombia's Under-17 team, was named as interim coach.

Colombia started this month as the last unbeaten team with the best defence in South American qualifying for the 2010 World Cup. Then the "Cafeteros" lost to Uruguay 1-0 at home and 4-0 in Chile, their first defeat to Chile in qualifying in 11 years.

Colombia was sixth in the standings after eight matches with 10 points, seven behind leader Paraguay. The pair meet in Bogota on Oct. 11.

Colombia hasn't been to the World Cup since 1998, and finished sixth in qualifying in 2006. Only the top four qualify directly to the World Cup while the fifth goes to a playoff.

After coaching clubs to titles in Colombia and Peru, Colombian-born Pinto led Costa Rica to the Central American championship in 2005 then was fired two months later during World Cup qualifying.

He took over Cucutiva Deportivo and led it to its first Colombian league championship before taking over the national team.

After winning five of seven friendlies, Colombia disappointed in last year's Copa America, bowing out in the group stage with only one win. But in World Cup qualifying, it beat Argentina in going undefeated in its first six matches until this month.

Football / TTFF triumvirate's perspective...one set ah smart moves.
« on: September 10, 2008, 09:57:42 PM »
Let’s put our footballer's situation into perspective. First, given the players' selection and the team’s accomplishment with the decisions which were made, we are still sitting in a position to move on. All is not lost. I not ‘burying ‘ the coach nor am I here to praise him ; for the evils that men do lives after them, the good is often interred with their bones.

This first (3 games) round has provided some highlights in that we were almost with six points with a less than stellar team. Now with the second half to come, as we meet all the teams for return games, are we not or better yet  are the coaches not in a better position to know which players are prepared to face the challenges and to play at a level that is expected of them?

I would say that our depth, strengths and weakness have been exposed and it time we put  our best players  forward  when we go into the return games.
So until then :

Hence! home, you idle creatures get you home:
Rest like it is  a holiday what! Know you not,
Being  arrogant, you ought not talk
About changing the coach?

You know if Jesus came back, there is a good chance that there may be some among  men who would want him crucify.

Why did some rejoice when we defeated Cuba with more local players?  Did that conquest throw light upon Maturana at home?
What rejoicing follow him to TNT,
To grace in captive accolades his coaching?
You blocks, you stones, you worse than senseless things!
O you hard hearts, you cruel fans of TNT,
Knew you not  Beenie?  BSC? Many a time and oft
Have you praised  them  all over,

Run to your houses, fall upon your knees,
Pray to the gods to intermit the plague
That needs must light on this ingratitude.

Maturana is not Beenie nor was Beenie BSC

I say all is not lost we still have three more games. Two of which we could count on as potential positive results if we bring ‘ our game’ to them.

The glass half full and you know what we have players that Maturana rested; the man  ‘playing dead to catch cobeaux alive’

Look nah; allyuh eh think Stern, Sancho, Birchall will come back ‘hungrier’ meaner, and more determined?  These players will be fresh and ready. Allyuh eh think  now that the youths and them eh go learn from this experience? I eh know fuh sure if this is what the coach planned or the whole ah the TTFF but if  they play their cards right and call back all the  experienced players and  we pull off three wins, this go look like one hell of a triumph for the triumvirate that ruling TTFFF. For all the  sh..t that happen , yuh know with some bold moves we could still come out of this smelling like ah rose.

« on: July 03, 2008, 08:42:15 AM »
Could this concept be the future direction of our national team; that is the formation of the very best from the local pro league and the very best of foreign based players.

From these two squads, you pick your best  squad for WC qualifiers. At some point you need a TEAM not a group of INDIVIDUAL 'STAR BOYS' Hopefully we have competent  coaches and technical director to oversea this process ('tongue in cheek).

Involve the pro league coaches or a reputable coach among the ranks to work with the local squad. Foreign based squad could have training session in U.K. and in North America at some point with the national coach.

Yesterday I watched a documentary on Pele. He spoke about the Brazilian team from the 70's as  the all time best team from Brazil. He mentioned that that team of players were kept together for five years. This way they  knew each other's style and were a very cohesive unit.  Practice time was very easy then because of the familiarity with each other.

Imagine if  after the last World Cup, we had kept  the majority of the players , added a few and worked as a unit until now.... ummm

Football / Recalling all players from last WC : S.O.S.
« on: June 08, 2008, 10:11:48 PM »
It is with utter amazement that I read all the reports of the  previous games. There appears in some camps to be widespread displacement of blame for our performance; we have in many instances created 'scapegoats' for our team's performance.

What was the purpose of the friendlies?  Are these games not intended to  evaluate and to assess the team's strengths and weakness?  Or are they intended to  build someone's coffers?
Friendlies are part of a process not the final product. Did our process fail?

It would appear that prior to last WC we had the similar debacles. Last minute arranged friendlies; we started with a coach who for intent  was an experiment; when  we were at the midway point and collect 5 from Guatemala, change of coach!!!!

Now we are roused into a similar frenzy with blame: blame JW; blame TTFF blame the ineptitude of some players; blame the Corneals; blame the system.; blame alleged blacklist..... it's endless scapegoating  for what we believe is unacceptable performances.

We have high expectations for success; this is good.  But what  do we really want  to see ? what  will it take to satisfy this insatiable appetite we have to be dominant? The frustrations that is felt and expressed appears to be with the way in which the powers to be seems to be playing Russian roulette --- a potentially lethal game of chance with our WC drive. It is unnerving to know that for once, we appear to have  depth and quality players to choose from yet, some believe that  it is a given that we could get pass certain teams with less talented players. Are we that complacent? or are  we arrogant enough to think that Bermuda will be a walk in the park?[/u]

Reports of the past games suggest that we  are still not a cohesive and well balanced team in our attack or defensive schemes; our mid fielders are suspect. So why take chances in the early rounds and risk a repeat of last WC qualifiers. Remember it took a while to finally bring 'Tallest' into the squad.

I am advocating that all parties put their collective differences aside, get  BEST  available players and let's get on  with a serious drive in these WC qualifiers.

Sleeping Cobb teen killed when pickup smashes into house

By S.A. REID
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 06/08/08

Kevin Morgan was jolted awake by what sounded like an explosion. Then he heard something worse: an anguished mother crying for help.

A Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by a woman suspected of being drunk careened through Morgan's Cobb County neighborhood early Sunday before plowing into -- and through -- the home of one of his neighbors.
Recent headlines:

The massive truck killed 14-year-old Elliot Savry as he slept and injured his sister Leah, who is 13.

Morgan was among the first neighbors to run to the aid of the teens' parents -- the mother frantically seeking help while her husband, Linley Savry, tore through debris looking for his kids.

"The truck is in my kids' bedroom . . . I believe Elliot dead," the elder Savry told Morgan.

Morgan ran to the rear of the seriously damaged house and was able to get far enough inside to confirm the father's fear. He could hear the girl crying as police arrived.

The horrific scene played out just before 3 a.m. in the 4500 block of Legend Hollow Lane in unincorporated Cobb, said Cpl. Dana Pierce, a Cobb police spokesman.

Pierce said police believe Janette L. Eason, 44, of Dallas, was driving drunk when she turned into the quiet neighborhood and weaved down a residential street, knocking down at least three mailboxes and small utility boxes along the way, before slamming into the Savrys' one-story home.

Charges against Eason, who is in custody, are pending.

Pierce said the fatal wreck happened after Eason had an altercation with her husband at a Powder Springs location. Police were called to the location, but she drove off in the maroon F-250 before officers arrived. She later ran a stop sign at Macedonia and Old Lost Mountain roads before turning into the victims' neighborhood.

The truck entered through the Savrys' garage and then briefly exited the home then reentered and plowed through Elliot's bedroom, running over him. The truck pushed him through a wall into a second bedroom where his sister slept.

It finally came to a stop with her pinned against an exterior wall and her brother's body underneath.

A Cobb fire emergency crew spent several hours extricating the teens. Elliot was pronounced dead at the scene while his sister was treated for leg injuries and released.

"To wake up and have this horror happen . . . our community is devatstated," said Morgan. He described the boy as polite, happy go lucky and good in school.

"Everybody loved (him) who knew him," he said.

By late morning Sunday, neighbors had already started a memorial in front of the home, with flowers and stuffed bears and a basketball with the message "We love you Elliot" inscribed on it.

Addison LePlatte, a spokesman for the Savry family, told reporters Sunday morning that the tragedy is "overwhelming for them at this time. . .it's incomprehensible."

He said Elliot had just finished 8th grade at Tapp Middle School and was a fun-loving teen.

LePlatte read a statement from the Savrys: "We rely on our family and God at this very difficult time and the help and prayers of our friends and relatives. We miss our son dearly and hope this tragedy will help bring tougher penalties for drunken drivers."

Funeral arrangement for Elliot are pending.

Sometimes everything we read in the news sounds like madness until ..........it's one of your own!!! in this case,  it is with sadness that I read of my cousin's son who  tragically lost his life this morning.

Football / The journey to 2010
« on: April 23, 2008, 07:21:30 AM »
It is with  great interest to read the selection of players for the national team in the ensuing friendlies. On one hand  we are witnessing  a phenomena that we have rarely seen before. That is a willingness to select local players and youths. While  opportunities are being presented to these budding stars, I wonder about the how much time this is taking away from creating a cohesive veteran squad?

How much time is actually devoted to  having a veteran squad come together to develop, learn and play the style of play that the new coach has for the team? I know this is a catch 22. On the one hand , we are  finally developing local talent and creating a depth in our talent pool but on the other hand, I wonder about the lack of cohesiveness  when we do decide on 'pool ' players together to face some of the more talented teams.

The ambivalence to this present process again may stem from the fact that the TTFF plans have never been made public. What is transpiring appears to be an 'experiment' in....... ( a. cost cutting measures).

Are we experimenting  on developing a tiered system  where we have one team for certain level of opposing teams and then another team for say an England? At what point do we bring  both set of players and decide which 15 will form the nucleus of a formidable team?
