I noticed that the discussion in most of the threads are very similar so the relevancy of the topic is posted  so that no one misses my point. Some people may choose not to open certain threads, this way my ideas are not lost.

If I could give my passion and desire for my country to all those players so that they could have that relentless drive and pursuit, I would be satisfied that the mental make up of our team is well fuel.

Since my days of playing sports, I always envisioned wearing the red white and black, and be it a pick up game of football tennis or basketball, whomever I was playing was playing against my nation.

Our dominance in football have clearly diminished in the Caribbean. The other nations have caught up to us. I mean even Jamacia has a higher ranking.  There was a time we would have put Jamacia, Cuba, and the smaller islands away with our local players, now it is a struggle. In one sense that struggle to regain a sense of supremacy must be the catalyst for our team to play at the next level.

This is not a team with overwhelming confidence. Whe you look at Guatamala, the composition of that team is mainly locally developed talent with one striker who plays in the MLS. Comapred to our team of foreign based talent. On paper we should dominate. If we don't , then what are the intangibles which are missing?

I have heard enough about the coaching. I say it's time each and every player look inward and find that 'fuel" which should ignite that desire. that relentless pursuit of a world cup dream appreance, thta sense of national pride. If we can restroe that fragile psyche, half the battle is done. WARRIORS is ay to you onwards with "FULL FORCE" Tomorrow  our destiny begins. There should be no excuses; we need full points!!!!!!

My system (3-4-3)will be a:

Three man front:

Four man midfielders:

Three man SLANT defense:
This will balance the attack with  seven attacking at any one time  fou spread out to cover the field on the wings and  in the middle and three mainstays atthe back but two midfielders could drop back  if the pressure is on.

Scouting report:

Guatemala

Overview:
One of the surprise teams to advance to the final stage of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying, “Los Chapines” have never appeared in “The Great Tournament.” They advanced from a semi-final round group that featured Costa Rica, Honduras, & Canada. All have whom have appeared in a World Cup. One of the two final round participants that advanced from semi-final round with a negative goal differential [7 goals scored & 9 goals allowed in 6 matches.]

Technical Director:
Ramon ‘El Primitivo’ Maradiaga was on the last Honduran team to advance to the World Cup in Spain 1982 and was at the helm of Honduras near qualifying run in 2002. He has the daunting task of putting together a team with little to no international experience.

Player To Watch:
No nation in World Cup qualifying relies on one player more than Guatemala relies on Carlos Ruiz. “Los Chapines” rely on the 24-year old Los Angeles Galaxy striker to score goals and provide leadership. “El Pescadito” aka “The Little Fish” also has 6 goals in qualifying and is the only player on the Guatemalan roster with major competitive experience. He is a former MLS Most Valuable Player and MLS Champion with L.A.
Germany 2006 Qualifying Prediction:
Because of the strength of the U.S., Mexico, & Costa Rica, “Los Chapines” should realistically expect to fight for 4th place and a shot at Germany 2006 by facing the 5th place Asian zone qualifier.

WHO could translate this?

En eliminatorias mundialistas Guatemala ha enfrentado siete veces a Trinidad & Tobago. El balance histórico no nos favorece, ya que nuestro equipo ha ganado dos partidos, ha empatado otros dos y hemos perdido en tres ocasiones.

So in fairness to BSC , here is what the U.S.A.  coach has to say and what they have been doing with their line up:

The Americans, who won 2-1 last month at Trinidad and Tobago in their final-round opener, will spend this week training in Colorado Springs, joined by 10 to 12 Europe-based players who have finished up play overseas. Those players are expected to dominate the starting lineup in Mexico City and include international stars such as midfielder Landon Donovan, forward Brian McBride and goalie Kasey Keller.

``We will have a different team in Mexico,'' Arena said. ``Perhaps we'll have different teams for the games against Mexico and Guatemala. We'll have about 24 players in camp and from there we'll make decisions.'' While Arena sidestepped a question on whether this will be the strongest team the Americans take to the smog and altitude of Mexico City, midfielder Pablo Mastroeni likes the team's chances.

``It's going to be a great challenge in a great environment,'' Mastroeni said. ``This is what we live to do, to play in front of 100,000 people. With the decent camp we've had and the effort the guys have put out and the results we've gotten ... I think we're ready.''

In my job, I often tell folks, "It is easier to be critical than to be correct" After reading some of the posts about and following the exploits of our national football team, I  have to restrain myself at times from adhering to that maxim.

It would appear that  somewhere in the process of selection, preparation and planning for success, that there are evidence of essential disconnect. Whether it be the ineptitute of management or the strategic manouvers by the coaching staff.  How can one not systematically  map out  the teh ' friendly games' needed for our team to come together? How can we not effectively evalaute the  positional needs of the team? How can we not have a system in place by now for our opposition? Why are we not in the opposition's country earlier to acclimatize the players to altitute and field conditions?

I would like to think that the powers to be have very sound and experienced  knowledge that I do not have about these inquiries. I trust and  hope that the decisions being made are based on  factors albeit ones I have no knowledge of but ones I presume are in the best interest of the team.

Credits for having our most experienced overseas players on the squad  for a pivotal game. Like most others , I query some of the moves to bring in untried players  when you ave  'Warriors' who have gone to battle for this team on the bench?

I am not advocating mediocracy by allowing  so called expereienced players just for the sake of name. I believe that if there is a player who has demonstrated proven ability at an international or at a level of competition which he can parlay his skills and contribution to the team, then let's provide that opportunity.

But let's not resort to  'nepotism' like tendencies and name people to the team based on a 'likeness' or  'hunches' or intuition.  Recent past performances should be an indicator of  probable tendencies.

I implore our TNT football organization  once more to put  the best foot forward in these upcoming games. Let us be conjunctive in our approach; let us be resolute in our thinking and lets us be relentless in our actions to boldly claim our  intent to be in 'GERMANY' for 2006. ''FULL FORCE '' ahead.

be purposeful

have a sense of pride

play a system that allows for creativity and  to the strength of each player

be cohesive

be positive

have the players who are committed to victory.

Well; for me and it's just my opinion, this new forum is adaptable. One is able to succiently keep  related topics in  one "bundle" as oppose to searching through "streams" to find the topic one started.

Simply by finding the topical title, one is able to trace and follow the flow of  responses. Now if one is looking to see familiar names and to just touch "bases" on what a person is saying or have posted in the past, it may require a little searcing through the topics.

However there are added features here which are readily avaliable that was not  on the older version. The use of quotes, visuals and tracking numbers of responses to a topic adds to the interest level of the conversation.

So while we like the familiar, leh we give this a chance nah!!!! How come  some people are clammering fuh change on this forum yet when they work with change they want tuh change back?

Take a look at this forum: http://www.reggaeboyzsc.com/jdforum/

Football / Re: Is T&T's UK obsession good for its players?
« on: March 21, 2005, 05:41:35 PM »
Why are so many T&T players in the UK? Its pretty simple to me!  If you can find a cheap source of players that do an adequate job and you have the chance of finding the occasional jem...would'nt you keep delving? The UK tried it first...other countries already have their own proven sources.

Well Rodney, in some aspects  your are right. We do provide a cheap source of labour (which seems  like exploitation) and there is the possibility that there may be a diamond in the rough. On the other hand, we too do have a professional league, if only in name but we do have  nationals from different countries (including Brazil). You may say that these  players are not of a certain calibre as in the English Priemership. Well  before we begin to quantify and qualify players based on the professional leagues they play in, let's just be thankful we have a system which promotes the game to another level.
How would one compare the Spanish league to the German Bundagelegisa? or the French league to the Italian? I would sufice to say that if Trinidad paid the type of dollars to professionals as soem of the other leagues do, we too maybe able to sustain our players at home. The economics of those well established leagues in Europe gives them the competitive edge over eeven the MLS in the U.S.A.

General Discussion / Re: Brain drain, Talent drain ??? SYSTEM THINKING
« on: March 21, 2005, 08:20:10 AM »
Our honourable leader  from the 60-s Dr.Eric Williams, warned us many atimes about the notion of Brain Drain and the impact on society. What we need to consider though is the economics of aland unable to support those who are searching or those who have a talent to provide.

The opportunities offered abroad to those who are capable should in many ways come back to benefit our society. Does it always work out that way? proably not. But given the country's limited resources, it would seem that if all things being equal, if one could have the same opportunities in Trinidad or Tobago, the question is would they stay at home?

Would an athlete or any individual for that matter with a level of talent or expertise who opted to remain at home , have the same exposure, opportunities for development and growth and 'earning' power if they remained at home?

As much as there appears to be adrain on the said system, which produced them, it is encumbent on the individual to find ways to  come back and contribute his/her acquired knowledge to enhance and develop the growth of that system.
