We talking the same time each time these events come around - let's avoid the ills of last 2014 and keep up the momentum from Gold Cup

One thing is certain, the picture is clearly in our faces and ignoring it will be detrimental. There is no choice but hard work for the entire month, with the home based players making great sacrifices in order to become a cohesive lot on the field.

If Kenywne Jones, Carlos Edwards and Kareem Hyland show up nearer to match time, then their presence will be the icing on the cake. But remember, our opponents are not the targets, our consciences must provide
the light at the end of the tunnel.

Tim Kee refuses Sancho meeting; accused of using footballers as political pawns
By Lasana Liburd (Wired868.com)

Sport Minister Brent Sancho has accused Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) president Raymond Tim Kee and, by extension, the opposition PNM party of using national football players as political pawns, as the ill-will between the two bodies appeared to reach a new low in midweek.
Sancho allegedly that, on Wednesday morning, Tim Kee, who is also the PNM treasurer and Port of Spain Mayor, came to the Sport Ministry and stayed only long enough to say that he would not meet the Minister. Then he left.

Look if the two ah dem have personal issues deal with it instead of mudslinging and like two nene carrying on with the BS and trying to score points. Our players have shown they are above the BS

Riciculous that ah so called minister acting like ah tanty man claiming that it is an issue with the PNM,! This is typical UNC kaka from the onset blaming PNM- the fight here is he and Tim Kee allyuh duke it out but keep the p,ayers and politics out of allyu sissy man game - Grow up and do what's right for TnT football

Don't be ridiculous, TK walk out and didn't meet, that is not Sancho fault..

The WC qualifying campaign coming up and the man walk out the meeting?

What kind of games TK playing, he is destroying our football... I can't wait till they get rid of him..

This meeting could have been the first steps to getting our prep and 3 games, but of course, TK intent on destroying our football because he on this politics vibe..

Yet we have die hard PNM supporters on here that won't touch this topic and claim TK and PNM love football and want progress..

If they wanted progress, TK would have sat down and swallowed his pride and worked it out setting the ground work for our World Cup qualifying..

No President of TTFA should be a partisan supporter or hold office as a member of a political party, it should be neutral..

Who itchng yuh arse? Yuh EH see the reference to the fact that both ah dem should grow up and put the hatchet aside and do what is right for TnT football!
Me EH have to be another one to get on yuh arse about your rant about TK - I doh care - I was simply responding to a minister who should stop jumping at conclusions that TK 's actions are precipitated by  political affiliations - stop blaming PNM and allyuh act like big men and settle the score. Just maybe these two men EH like each other regardless of political  allegiances. read the article again was it not alleged that Sancho was the one who made the conclusion thatTk's actions were by extension tattoo the PNM?what was the basis for that thinking?
Contro yuhgetting to quick at defending yuh own political  affinities- go piss yuh yellow trite in a corner and be objective nah.

General Discussion / Re: prison break in POS
« on: July 26, 2015, 10:51:10 AM »
The news leaves one in a state of limbo- somewhere between sympathy nd empathy .on the one hand there is a relief that the whereabouts of a person deemed to be dangerous is accounted for on the other hand, at what expense?

It never cease to amaze me of how criminals or those associated with them  justify and rationalize their actions - yuh read about how this one was kind man nd helped out others and provided for his family-

Do they ever think or do we ever read about the innocent victims?   For example the policemn who was killed in the real out- going to work doing a  high risk job making a decent living yet falling victim to  what could have been avoided? consider the chin of events leading to this escape- the questions been raised- was it an inside job? What are the security measures in place? What are the consequences  for rogue officers?  After seeing a footage on  facebook, https://www.facebook.com/BeyondTheTape?fref=ts, I am appalled that these men are walking about in civilian clothes! think about what could be concealed in  that " so called religious apparel?
So while there are those who mourn the violent passing of a individual, one hs to consider if the end does intact justify the means when innocent people fell victims along the way.

Now tell me - should there be a harsh consequence for the harbouring of a known criminal?  Tell me in little TnT it eh have people who eh maccoing  and who eh know where this man is hiding?  it does have all dem with they cell phone posting picture when police do thing but whey dem now posting picture of criminal?  Ent it have anonymous tip phone line to call in?

Football / A Collective Impact to support TnT Football
« on: July 26, 2015, 10:26:00 AM »
Sometimes it is  easier to be critical than to be correct

Ok we could blame - point fingers and be critical of those  who are being paid and in  charge of the direction of our football programs, but what if, just what if we were to collectively add our input  as de facto  ' scouts'  finding potential players, contacting players  encouraging participation this adding to the player pool of potential talent  for our respective teams.

As there are many TnT nationals across the globe and yuh know how we like to connect with people who know someone from somewhere inTnT or some one who haveTnT blood lines, let's put this to use and see what we could dig up in the next couple of months - this does not preclude the locals who may know of a diamond in the rough.

Iwould like to also propose that the TTFA  look for sponsors who may want to expand their brand internationally  and along with TNT affiliated Associations which exist in most large urban centres , host some' open camps'  inviting potential players for tryouts. These camps could be regional camps - where the players pay a nominal fee to participate. Imagine  camps in - Eastern USA mid -west  Southern and West. Replicate this iin Canada and the in pRts of Europe.

Or through this forum as many have been doing, people as they discover potential players, pass the names forward  with a little insight about the player.

I intend to take in a game or two of the Edmonton FC located bout four hours away- there is a player - defender Kareem Moses - incidently one of his teammates is on the Jamaican team .
Here is a brief bio ofKareem Moses - http://www.fcedmonton.com/roster/kareem-moses

Me thinks that if a person has a genuine interest, desire and passion to represent TnT, and if that said person can do so legitimately and if that said person has the talent and ability which surpasses those of what is available locally then by the rules and regulations they should be given the opportunity to represent,

In my opinion we should not be seeking  athletes who are akin to mercenaries or those who are seeking TnT as their last resort to achieving succes at the expense of hardworking desirous local athletes. The price of succ es must not be at the expense of the dreams and opportunies of a live hood of the local athlete.IMHO

General Discussion / Are there 'False prophets'among us?
« on: July 25, 2015, 08:31:48 AM »
I am not a criminologist nor a historian nor a politician : I do not bring the lived experiences of these perspectives from which to base my observations - mine is purely speculative and thoughts I have on what I read.
Growing up in the 50's and 60's , in a village setting in Trinidad one had the experience of living and enjoying the  diverse cultural landscape. Celebrating  the Christians holy periods as well as those of the Hinus and Muslims were equally acknowledge with a reverence . Mingling and interacting among the diverse groups were relatively seamless- one knew that certain boundaries were in place yet there was a respect when it came to interactions among people and their beliefs.

In the village, people's faith were easily distinguishable and the practices of such faith were evident and clearly assocciated with  some  form of spiritual affinity. The mosque held its quiet presence of worship as the various Christian churches or gatherings. I never saw large outward signs of people coming from the mosque in grabs covering their faces or robes of clothing to what is associated with the middle eastern countries.

Then came 1990 and with the uprising, there appeared to be a transformation and a new reality of what I knew as a practitioner of Islam. The  diversification within the Muslim society took on a new apparel, the members were expanded to include people who in my lived experience were not associated with this faith. People were changing their names and I was  seeing more Cassius Clay/ Muhammed Ali clones in TnT.

While this emerging sect  was sweeping the nation in the guise of religious teachings , one wondered if this would lure more youths and people in general to a life of reverence, respect and honourable living. However, going back to 1990, if that was  the birth and infusion of this transformation then what was engendered in TNT is a far cry from the ideals one would associate with a practitioner of a faith group.

Today it is sad to read of the rising gangs and the mafia like organized warfare and guns associated with certain so called religious groups. It is sad to think that some people are using a religious sect to hide beneath the gabs to commit their nefarious acts;it is sad to see that so many are seeking refugee in the holy sanctuaries  to commit wanton criminal acts and to then justify these acts in the name of an almighty figure.

The scriptures did warn us of ' false prophets, I wonder if we have a proliferation of false  prophets walking amongst us and  corrupting the youths with false teachings- - I am not saying all this can be attributed to one sector of our society but  from my observations I cannot help but wonder  how the changes in this particular faith based group has changed the landscape of TnT-  are we under a threat or part of a worldwide conspiracy by external groups to become an Islamic state? On the other hand, the growth of this sect  could be as a result of traditional religions failure  to have an impact on people's lives. The absence of moral teachings, the lack of religious principles have given ground for groups to foster a firm stronghold in a sector of society that was looking for some cause. That cause led to a national crisis in 1990- a government 's inability to deal harshly with dissidents and acts of treasons have now engendered a crisis of  innumerable proportions.

In my readings and observations of national crises and international crises I am fearful of how what I knew growing up and what was for me a peaceful coexistence among diverse people of faith and ethnicity has now become a complex picture of paradoxical beliefs about faith and  idolatry .

« on: July 21, 2015, 06:20:10 PM »
This may have been a crucial miss but youknow what - there were other players who had an opportunity to make a difference- supposed all our kickers had made their shots? Then one man does not have to beascapegoat! Say what- I could see the surprised lookouts ma face when his number was called - I want to lay claim that thi layer onthe future would not make this mistake again . I believe that this game , may not be the result we all wanted but may just be the game that would change the approach for each player, coach and hopefully - administrators.
We showed a resiliency, a potential to score and a ho.ding defence like never before . So Mr. Cyrus can't cry over spilled milk-
TTFA and MOS should apologies for the adverse conditions our players and coach have to deal with i additional having to face this level of adversity.

If that nonsense could be off our players minds then think of the what can be achieved when a player does not have to deal with how he go feed he fami.y or make ah living while taking personal time and risk of professional career to represent TnT.

Funny - I posted this and little response to looking at the positive and the learning we could obtain from it.

BIG PICTURE- Moving Forward
Let me say that from these past two games, could serve as turning points- from this we should learn what it takes  and how it feels to be on the cupst of moving upwards,
Starting with the players- what do each player need to do to be ready for the next level? - WC qualifying- this is the bigger picture! I think the coach found out more about the players he is working with and what more is needed. More friendlies more money does not necessarily guarantee better chances of success- we may consider the type of planning preparation- both physical , mental and discipline make that is required of a professional and a commitment to a national program.
For me tne silver lining in this disappointing defeat is the opportunity to improve on the facets of the game that are required to get above where we are. I looked at the Jamaican team last game, did I see anything better than what we did? Not necessarily? They make the best of their opportunities and we simply did not - had we wonon penality kicks, all this talk would be different- but I really do think that maybe this result had to occur this way for us to grow and develop come WC playoffs- no game is a guarantee no team is a cake walk and forever we should recall that the greatest potential is i each one of us .
ABC- ADVERSITY BUILDS CHARACTER

Did our team perform beyond? Yes
Do we need to do better yes? Did we see some hope for moving forward yes.
Excuses should not be accepted- heat - humidity same for both team- jamaica did not score or winas many games nor for that matter Panama but those teams found ways to win when it mattered- this is the intangibles we also need to look at - the physical mental and emotional composition of our teams.

It has been a while since we have see this kind of display of  achievement from our national teams - are we wrong as fans to have high expectations for our teams? I think when the bar is raised and the expectations are present this helps to increase the potential for future success.

Well well - just came back from a lime we had - all Trinis sitting watching cheering drinking and ole talking-  man calling from New York saying some ah the team was out making small lime last night! Nah I EH want to believe that-
Look no excuses- this EH about pointing fingers- we had some credible performances considering all the adversity around our program - external stuff at inopportune time  seems to be dogging this team- same crap in the Caribbean Cup final - we went into that tournament with a high and them blight and politics came up- all kinda strike tak came up as a distraction- is like since the SA left . Is one setts blight on this team.

Ok now let's look at a different perspective.  These are professionals- doing what they love and I am sure most have dreams of lucrative contracts to play at the highest level. Kudos to Marvin Phillips- got the consummate back up , he showed flashes and he'd steady.
As a team in that second half we appeared to be on the ropes trying to withstand waves and waves of Panamian attack - not that Panama looked like world beaters, it just appeared that they were rested and had that extra push which we seemed to lack. Our plyers seemed to be standing watching and were slower to the ball. Our attack was non existent. Nevertheless we still had a chance to steal one- lawd it was given to us on a platter, until you could tell when the camera caught the expression of Cyprus when he had to make the decisive kick- it was all but done still we had a chance- this was just not to be!
rural nal program.
