Well ah know most of the fellas on here were born in the 80ies  and 90ies, but for the men , and women of course who were born way earlier, ah sure allyuh could remember the schism dance and how we used to compete back in the days in dance outs.

with groups like sex and soul, upsteppers , soulboys , and many more. fellas don out in their their gun mouths pants with the sister boye, farmer browns jumpers , smiths pants with the loop with the side pockets and the blue and white thin stripes, rockin the high tops converse and pro keds, and doh forget the safty pins that fallas used to pin on their shirts.   those were fun days.

General Discussion / Need help!
« on: May 16, 2008, 05:26:30 PM »
Forumites ah need allyuh to bail meh out please.  yuh see i'm really friendly with an ameritrini, and i boast to her all the time saying if she ever went to trini i would let her know how to maneuver, little did i know it would be sooner than later.

home girl was born here, from ah trini mother and a wasp mid west father, but she swear she's more trini than me. she's been to trini twice before as a little girl and this is her first unsupervised trip to trini.

her grand mother left her property in trini that she need's to tend to pronto, before she losses out on due to family feuding.

anyway this chick grandmother was pure chinese, and she grew up on trini chinese food, and since grandmar past ten yrs ago she's been dreaming bout trini chinese food, and she want some references on places to go for grandmar style old chinese cooking.

she leaves on monday, and i don't know where to send her. i shame no ars, BC i dont even know where the hell to find mango, let alone old time trini chinese food.

the last time i was in trini i stayed less than a week, and i find meh self in st James buying some bullshyte chinese food that taste worst than the chinese food in brooklyn.

i know ah pissed off nuff ppl on here , but please let bygones be bygones, allyuh help meh to save face nah.

and ah next thing , she wants to know where she could find a play house that put on local plays and folk dancing. i don't have a clue.            positive.

Football / T&T to face Bermuda in phase 1 of WCQ.
« on: March 30, 2008, 11:15:57 PM »
Top of the morning forumites. let me begin by saying, i'm pretty sure the majority of us are already aware that we will be going up against Bermuda in june for phase 1 of our WC journey to SA2010.

i was hoping it was cayman islands TBH since we seem to always struggle against Bermuda for some strange reason, that and we didn't get enough playing time together as a complete team  for over a year.

Bermuda's federation president Larry Mussenden seem to think that he could suprise us come june, i just hope he's wrong about his predictions and we have the fortitude to get pass underrated Bermuda to the semifinal round of qualifying.

i know a lot of yuhs would think that i'm being some what timid in my view, but i have good reason to be since jack warner & co. has been pussy footing since oct 06.

we've not played with our full strenght team since st Vincent and the Grenadines, and quite frankly that scares me.

we still don't have the stallwart defence we build for the last WC in germany, players the like of marvin andrews, brent sancho and dennis Lawrence, has been completely ignored by our federation, in exchange for the services of less experience untested players the likes of power , thomas and adams, not knocking any of our players , but we need these three defenders if we're to get into the final round of qualifying.

i think we're ok in the midfield department with fellas like Whitley,  Edwards, hyland, roberts, K. daniel, and up front we're pretty decent as well, with KJ , bravo, scotty, glenn, to choose from , but we need a proper defence to go up against our hungry opponents in concacaf.

just curious to know what allyuh think. all views would be highly appreciated. i just have ah strange feeling that we might be punished for our lack of preparation, please prove me wrong.                                             positive.

General Discussion / This could not happen when Mr boroughs was in office.
« on: February 11, 2008, 05:16:46 AM »
Could you imagine this happening when Mr randolph boroughs was in uniform ! i think he's probably rolling in his grave right now to see what his country has become. even though the B which he was affectionatly known as, was a known drug dealer according to popular opinion, yet still he kept the country safe and sound from this kind of lawlessness. IMO this would've never flied if MR Boroughs was in uniform! NO FACKING WAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Football / Why are these guys nonentities
« on: January 27, 2008, 05:57:03 PM »
I've noticed on many a Saturdays in the trini's in action thread that these guys are made mention of, but when members are picking their warrior teams whom they feel have the ability and skill to rep us, these guys are seldom or never mentioned.

Adrea boucaud, kevaunghn connell , josh johnson, Jason norville , hector sam , Ricky shakes.

members even include players who are local based over these foreign based players, now i don't know any thing about them , my guess is maybe they're not that good to be over looked on the regular, even some shyte snake locals are mentioned in place of these foreign based. what's that about fellas?                             positive.

I remember years ago Trinidad & Tobago had a calm and a peace that settled over our nation like a cloud of glorious pure sweet rain. many members on here were to young to remember , and many more were not even conceived, but those who are old enough to remember will concure.

murders & robbery was an abnormal occurrence, a few times a year maybe, and the flying squad were all over it like flies on sh!t. ppl walked where ever when ever with no fear of man or beast. in those days cussing out ah man was the norm with out any kind of deadly repercussion. my point is! when DR Williams was in charge, the nation had less out side influence than now!

every thing we watched and listened to was censured, there was no obscenity or violence in our music , and we were not allowed to import unsavory content into our country.but after the doc passed, every thing went off course. the movies changed, the music changed, and so did the ppl.

just before i left trini i remembered dudes were listening to dance hall reggae and rap music, back then dudes were selling crack and weed and the gun culture was just beginning to take root, no one was getting killed , but fellas was shooting man in dey butt , leg and hands, some would bluff shoot or just draw their guns and talk ah lot of shyte, but no one was getting killed.

i told my good friend that if this BS continued the babies that was comming up would not be as harmless as us, he laughed and said not in a million yrs would we get as bad as the US, now look at today! i hate to tell you bro, but you were wrong! T&T need's to stop all out side influence  from entering our country, just keep it educational, that's the best way to fight crime, the DOC did it with a 100% success rate too.   that's the only solution too a growing problem.  re-programme the babies with educational content!!!!                          positive.

Football / Fatima college and the three corneal boys.
« on: December 30, 2007, 05:12:38 PM »
How many members are old enough to remember the three corneal boys playing for fatima college ? those were the good old days of the colleges league. murcorapo senior comp was the new comers back then, they had a pheonom on their team who happened to be a dreadlock dude that drew a lot of media attention, not just for his hair style which was a huge taboo back then, but also for his goal scoring ability, and being the first rasta to ever play in the colleges league.

he was an instant sensation, Ian moose clauzell (AKA the dread dribbler). i remember when fatiima and mucorapo met, that game drew a huge crowd that could not fit on the grounds, ppl were spilling out onto the streets, climbing on the river's banks, and even on the roof of mucorapo comp to catch the game. every body from the upper echelon of T&T society came out to support fatima and the three corneal boy, while the ppl from the behind the bridge came out in their numbers to to support mucorapo and also get a glimpse of the dread lock sensation clauzell.

but that day belong to Anton corneal and his brother Arnold (fatman) that fat pucker coulda play ball, he was the first fat dude I've ever seen that was as agile as any slim athletic person, and he had a chip that was as accurate as any big mid fielder playing today JMO, that chip used to spring Anton beating any defensive off side traps in the league, Anton used to have a field day with that subtle chip. i can't recall the name of the other brother since he was over shadowed by his two siblings. was it (arnott)? who knows. the corneal boys gain their notoriety that season together with the dread dribbler, and although they were the toast of the town, the season belonged to john D. but those were the days of some dynamite school football.                          positive.

Football / Peter crouch agonised over foreign theatrics
« on: December 21, 2007, 01:31:55 AM »
On skysports news i heard Peter crouch agonising over foreign theatrics. he said that foreign players over act when played tough, while english players ( lampard / terry ) don't embellish injuries or over react to tough play,  he also said that foreign players are destroying the integrity of the english game with their theatrics and dishonesty. i guess he not talking bout brent.

Football / What's up with the A-team
« on: November 13, 2007, 10:35:33 PM »
It's been a tough 16 months for every Trinidad and Tobago football supporter. a disappointing period filled with uncertainty, draw backs and failure on a regional level. wev'e seen our football go from ecstasy to crash and burn, in that 16 month period we've seen ah ban on our A-team, the suspension of our football, losing of the degicel cup to medioca competition, our disappointing showing at the GC, to learning that our WC players were reinstated.

the impass is over right fellas/ladies ?  so why aren't we seeing our A-team in action, is it that we've been had, did jack and the TTFF faked us out in order to buy time to shred some important documents that might incriminate him, are we going to have another unproductive year of local representation, every other team in the region is busy playing friendlies preping for the qualifiers with their best teams except us, could someone please explain since this maybe to high for me to grasp.

how could we go from drawing 0-0 with Sweden and holding mighty england scoreless late into the last ten minutes, to losing out to el salvador. bottom line . I'm not supporting no local B-team, them boys ain't ready yet, losing to haiti and el salvador stueepps! i ain't wasting no time wid dat!      WHERE IS OUR A-TEAM!

Football / Total waste of a perfectly good year!
« on: September 09, 2007, 03:40:56 PM »
I am sitting in front the telly watching the US go toe to toe with the world's #1 giant, and thinking to my self, are we ever gonna see another WC any time soon considering the improvments made by the top three teams in concacaf, knowing all of our serious and not so serious contenders are putting their house in order for qualifying.

The TTFF did a good job of swaying the positive momentium we took away with us from germany 2006, and of course every one knows the details of that soap opera, and turned it into dust instead of building on that foundation that cost us almost 30 yrs to build. how could hard core football fans like us just sit and do nothing to change the course of this doomed ship, could a football revolution be staged.

I had the most interesting and not so flattering news on our little twin island republic this week , and i would like to share it with the members on this site. a female friend and former co worker of mine who now works for the WTO as an international investigator, was extremely exited and couldn't wait to tell me she was chosen to go to T&T on a job assignment and wanted me to come along as a chaperon, of which i refused, BC of other obligations.                                                                                                             upon her return we met for lunch and she began to relay the news of her trip. it seem that she had a fondness for Trini especially Tobago, but nothing could prepare me for what she had to say about the state of affairs in our beloved T&T.  she said our poverty level was on par with countries like Malaysia, Nepal ,Pakistan, Gaza, and singapore. she said almost 75 % of tringbagonians live just about or below the poverty line and our middle class was almost non existant. she also said there was a high disparity between the wealthy and the have nots. it was also brought to my attention that our sewer system and hydro electric system was 90 yrs behind time. she also  told me that T&T has some of the wealthiest ppl in the western hemisphere and for a country with all that wealth and such a small population, with pure uninhabited rain forest and breath taking land scapes, rich in marine life natural gas and oil, there was no reason for such poor infrastructure and high poverty rate. in her final analysis, she concluded that we were high on unemployment , poverty and illiteracy, and 120 yrs behind in technology.             positive.

General Discussion / How equal are we really?
« on: April 13, 2007, 09:52:16 PM »
I am probably going to take alot of flack for this post, but i still feel the need to ask the open minded objective thinkers, what do you think of T&T societal class structure. trinidad holds for me alot of bitter memories and hatred for the uppper class and the middle class wanna be's who adore them. I know i probably come accross as a jerk,  but lets examine our be loved country shall we. before T&T became an independant country, the private sector was dominated by foriegn investers and local whites, who had the opportunity to capitalize on prime realty for future develoment projects also investing in large cooperations, amassing more wealth and ecconomic stature. in other words, out side of the government they controlled the present and future ecconomy.                                                                                                                                           people of colour particularly black ppl were religated to menial low paying jobs and ecconomic depravation, deplorable living conditionsand and in most cases lack of employment, while the middle or preferably working class more often french creole and high coloured folks, enjoyed the more meaningful skillful jobs in the private sector and government agencies.                                                                                                            after the labour movement things were moving in a differant direction but not fast enough, not until the black power movement and up rising of 1970 that poor blacks who made up the mojority of the unemployed, were considered viable for more meaning jobs. today blacks and whites, french creoles, indians and chinesse work side by side, play mas in the same carnival bands, and in some cases even go to the same dance clubs and so on,but is that what really constitutes aquality. I visit trinidad from time to time and it sadens me to see that things hav'nt changed much in 37yrs.  yeh black ppl hold more highly skilled proffessional positions than ever before, but so are every other group aswell, but there are also more unemloyement and lack of opportunity amoungst blacks than any other group.                                                                                                    I remember 1980 i was a junior member of the N.J.A.C. my mentor told me that trinidad would experience a sudden surge of unemployement and crime in the next decade and if the government did not act fast to conteract that imbalance it would take us years to recover. he went on to explain to me how the wealth and opportunities were not equally distributed omoungst the masses and how higher learning were not made available to the less fortunate, which would result in increased delinquency in the society. he also went on to discribe to me how we live in such an elitist society that trives on the ignorance and political compliasants of the masses, and if ppl with vision and guts do not get a hold of political power, T&T will continue to be raped by unsrupulus politicions of the ppl's wealth, and we will remain a dived society, not by race or colour so much, but by the ongoing concept of the extremly wealthy, the well to do and the have just enough to suvive which still resembles colonial times but just a little kinder.     positive.
