As an African descendant it infuriates me to see and hear such ignorant statements thrown back and forth by these heartless crackers, but what's more infuriating is to hear people of colour sweep slavery under the rug as though it never happened. a lot of Trinidadians are of mix identity and don't even identify with their African roots, which could be clearly understood, Africa was always portrayed in the media as a backward continent, as a matter of fact growing up as a boy in Trinidad i thought of Africans as being extremely backwards BC of what i saw in documentaries on Africa which always highlite the under development of Africa not showing the build up cities in Africa or it's urban life styles, only when i came to the US as a youth i learned better. a lot of people talk about things they don't understand, and without thinking of whom they might offend. slavery was immoral and should not be down played. wall ST, Buckingham palace, Paris, Zurich,London,D.C.,hollywood,madrid, Lisbon, you name it, was all built on the back of the African slave trade. sugar, coffee, cutton, coco, tobacco, was all traded on the stock market in the 18 & 1900. and they are still traded on the market today & very much in demand. so when you visit these countries and marvel at their excellence think about how they got the resources to finance their empire and to continue to enjoy the privilege of being called developed. and ask your self a question, why contries that took part in slavery and colonialism are so economically stable as opposed to countries who didn't. western Europe has nothing but grass and trees, a couple of lakes and rivers but no serious natural resources, so tell me how the hell ther'e so economically stable. well i would tell you what i know, it was build on the backs of my ancestors for free, and that should not go unpaid. I don't care if it's monetarily or opportunistically they should pay a man for his work and if he is no longer alive then you should compensate his kids grand kid or his offsprings, isn't that how it works today. It's a known fact that western Europe was totally in abject poverty before the slave trade, only during the trade and colonialism did they begin to prosper. if you don't believe me then look at eastern Europe who never participated in slavery. positive
