For me, he should go to Fulham...

Not for a chance to play in the Premiership but to work under Hodgson who is a coach who will only help him develop his game further. Its an opportunity he should grab with both hands...

F365 and SkySports are reporting that Iniesta will miss the Champions League final with a torn thigh muscle...which is at least 3-4 weeks out if claims about his injury are true...

ah see somebody say ting like this does happen all over the world ... and ah sure it have plenty other with that sentiment - but that is a load of BS.

Yeah, the whole 'this happens everywhere' statement is one massive cop-out from those who are too proud to criticise their country. Theres pride and false pride, the biggest patriots are the ones are willing to stand up and say 'this is wrong'. Sportsmen are regularly gunned down elsewhere?

Condolences to the club and the players family.

Rooney has thrown tantrums after being subbed as well.

Scholes once refused to play in a Carling Cup match a while back.

Ronaldo didn't want to come off as he was having a pretty good game, its a non-story.

Its been known for a while that Tevez might be off, probably to Man City. Joorabchian was at the game and I don't think its a coincidence that City had a number of directors and their entourages at OT today as well...

Joorabchian knows that City can blow anyones offer out of the water and he has been touting him to them for some time. Tevez has been great for us, hard working and was a big part of our success last season...but he's not worth the 35 million his 'owner' wants for him and United will not be held to ransom. City are stupid enough to pay that amount (but knowing Joorabchian, he will milk this deal for everything its worth and try to squeeze more money out of it for himself).

Trouble in the United camp? United are four points away from the title...if thats what you call trouble, then I'd like some more of it.

A little perspective please, some of us are clever enough not to pick up on every sensationalist headline we see...

It was a penalty but the challenge was clumsy more than anything and didn't deserve a red. Replays showed that Fletcher made a legitimate attempt to clear the ball and was just clumsy in doing so. He wasn't being malicious and it wasn't a professional foul.

The referee was correct in giving the penalty but he should have shown a bit of common sense and left it at that.

A few minutes after that Adebayor tries to smash Carricks shin with his studs and its nothing more than a yellow...no wonder Fergie was fuming at that one.

United got their tactics spot on. Playing Ronaldo up front on his own with Rooney coming in from the left caused Arsenal all sorts of bother. They expected Arsenal to come out flying, which is what they did. They sat back, hustled and harried and defended in numbers and hit them on the counter when space was available. Arsenal bombing forward the way they did in the first seven minutes was like committing hari kari...but they had no choice. You can blame Gibbs for the first goal if you like, but I was left wondering as to what Toure and Djourou were doing? A low cross is knocked into the box and Arsenals centre-backs are nowhere to be found...

I see they've incorporated a bra into the new Chelsea shirt for Frank Lampard...

if chelsea are going to beat barca i really dont believe its going to be in the air

After watching this game, I have to disagree.

Chelsea will physically murder their defenders if Barca play like this next week...

I bet Drogba is watching this at home and laughing at the way David Villa is able to easily win headers against Puyol.

It was either Chelsea or a side full of primadonnas and bullermen.

Your strong and manly captain...

Since Mikel turned us down, we've won two titles, a league cup and European Cup...

I can't say that we've missed him.

Your comment is in very poor taste and (hopefully) not indicative or United fans on this board.

One of my greatest ever memories in football was getting a ticket to the '96 final (my second final) and watching Eric destroying Scouse hopes a few minutes before the end.

Those sort of feelings are priceless and I wasn't one of the people who justified Fergies team selection last week...

It have nuff examples to back that up.

Maybe if you started making a semblance of sense, they wouldn't be on your case so much.

- The Glazers did NOT gain control of the club via a hostile takeover. If you knew what a hostile takeover was, you wouldn't have said it.

- Chelsea have a plan and that plan is to put themselves in a position where they require ZERO cash funding from their Russian overlord. They are a very long way from that as their wage bill is the highest in the Premiership (which equals 71% of their turnover, Manchester Uniteds wage bill is 44% of their annual turnover) and have recently lost the combined sum of roughly 67 million pounds which was paid to Mourinho and Grant as compensation when they were fired. This does not include the compensation fee for Scolari so that loss will rise.

Another thing that you casually ignore is that Chelsea were on the verge of bankruptcy before Abramovic arrived. He spent over 700 million of his own money to pay off their debt, so when he leaves...Chelsea will OWE him what he paid. He has halved that amount by turning a large portion of the money he used to bail them out and turned them into shares...Chelsea will still owe him over 300 million should he get bored and leave.

You want to go on about United being leveraged, but they have made massive strides in paying that money back, combine that with the fact that their merchandising and commercial arm generates an obscene amount of revenue for the club. Chelsea's pales in comparison.

I mean, you have Peter Kenyon going public today and saying that Chelsea will now need to sell in order to buy. You don't hear United making those noises. Yes, they are in debt but the have a plan and a business model in place. The Chelsea bubble has burst, NOW they are trying to find ways to become self sufficient yet they can't, because their wage bill eats over 70% of their annual revenue and they have to lay out large amounts of cash as compensation for each coach they fire...

You tell me, would you trust a company that spends 70% of its annual revenue on salaries? I'm just talking about the players...that figure would probably be higher when you take into account what the backroom staff are getting...

Remind me which club is poorly run again?

The business plan was always to scale back spending after the initial years so this comes as no surprise to me.. Like I said, I not worried...

Yes, I'm sure.

The scaling back has nothing to do with the fact that Abramovic lost 12 BILLION of his own money when Russian shares plunged in October 2008.

No, of course not.

« on: January 14, 2009, 08:42:58 AM »
well if a respected pundit and man-in-the-know like Guillerme Balague could come out and say it, then it have to be true...

Balague: Ronaldo has Real deal

http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/9070082/Balague:-Ronaldo-has-Real-deal

Balague claims on his website that Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes have struck a deal with Calderon and not with Florentino Perez, the former Real Madrid president.

That enabled Ronaldo to announce on Monday night: "My agent does not have an agreement with Florentino Perez."

But Balague - and Spanish newspaper AS - say the newly-crowned FIFA World Player of the Year has agreed in principle to go to Madrid in the summer and may request a transfer from Manchester United.

The journalist admits, though, that 'In spite of Ronaldo's agreement with Ramon Calderon, the refusal of Sir Alex Ferguson to sell his best player remains a significant obstacle to the transfer to Madrid going ahead. And, if United refuse to sell, then the secret agreement with Calderon remains nothing more than that.'

ZZZzzzZZzzzZZz

Balague said the same thing last year and the year before that.

He is also a close personal friend of Rafa Benitez.

Do the math.

Porto and Benfica would run Madrid very close in that department.

kenwyne just breed ah man and put him to sit down.

You mean bundle into someone and get a corner. Because thats what he did. You talk as if he's Messi jinking his way past a group of players.  :rotfl:

...

United were plodding for long spells until Anderson injected some life into the midfield. Ronaldo was fairly quiet and Tevez did more in twenty minutes than the rather static Berbatov managed for the entire ninety. I mean, he scores a hat-trick on Wednesday and his reward is to be benched. The crowd reaction to him coming on said it all...he should be starting most games.

Sunderland got what they deserved, they came for one thing...0-0. They showed no real ambition and were quite content to sit back and run the clock down whenever they got the chance. At least Sunderland came to Old Trafford last year and gave them a game. United deserved their goal because they were the only ones pushing for one. If only they had shown this level of grit and determination when Keane was there...he might not have walked, therein lies the irony.

1-0, three points and still in touch going into Xmas...

When the going get rough this is what does happen.

Like Turin '99, for example.  ::)

I suppose thats why he was made the captain of his club AND country...

You don't have a clue about what you're talking about with regards to the 2002 WC and you're just recycling the same old garbage you typed regarding this issue a few months ago. There was more to it than Keane just 'walking out'. I'm not going to give you the whole story again because your head is so full of ground chaff that it would probably bounce off that black hole you call a brain (again) and evaporate into Internet oblivion...

As usual, Mr. Rent-a-Quote is here to make an ass out of himself, recycling his old material with a few opinions that he read on other forums to make himself look a bit clever. The forums very own Inspector Clouseau, bumbling around without a clue as his own predilection for irrelevancy demonstrates...

If you want a good example of someone quitting when the going gets 'tough' then look no further than Jose Mourinho...This was a man who quit because he couldn't stand up to his own chairman and then stomped his feet because United had the temerity to finish above them in the league in 2007.

Sunderland owe him a lot.
It seems like, in recent weeks, a lot of their fans forgot that.

Somebody should give Quinn Beenie number. Let him bring back Stern John and sign Bleeder.

Yes, football fans have short memories. They were near the bottom of The Championship when he took over and took them to the Premiership in the same season...

I think he's leaving too soon. It took Fergie four years to get things right an MUFC and like Keane, bought his fair share of duds (Gibson, Milne, Donaghy) before he got everything to click.

But Keane was always a harsh critic when it came to his own performances...

I wish him well.
