Dennis Lawrence isn't exactly a "local coach"

Certainly not any more "local" than SH was

ALL coaches have their preferences....bias some might say.

De same Beenie kept Latas on the bench until the very last game when we were already out in the world cup

Ranjitsingh didn't play under SH either.  Different circumstances I know....but still the fact remains.

I'm curious to see how Camara plays out. Overnight he has been required to move from being an obstructionist Fifth Columnist to someone who has to sing to preserve his supper. I doubt that many of us are believers in overnight rehabilitations. Who knows, he might be Saul on the Road to Damascus.

Dem fellas well skillful in dey area of expertise.   De only interest dem seek is de financial kind fuh deyself

Is not like we qualifying for 2022 WC

And is not like we qualifying for the next Gold Cup either

So no sense in looking to break bank further to hire a "name" coach

In the overall scheme of things, the Mens National Football team is NOT A PRIORITY AT THIS TIME

Instead.....focus on getting Pro League or whatever it's called and clubs that compete there functional, competitive, and administratively competent.

Identify and then develop young talent countrywide....and the country includes BOTH islands.....to feed into those Pro League teams

Hire a local coach and staff who have the communication, management, and technical skills to work with young players to form a nucleus or core of the National team going forward

Play that core as much as possible and that becomes your Mens National team for future Gold Cups and World Cups.

You feel Bostock doh have a TT passport?

Didn't Bostock show up and travel with the squad for a Caribbean Cup match (against SVG?) but was prevented from playing due to a FIFA technicality?

Think that was the same match Levi Garcia came on and scored 2 goals or a hat trick to give us the win after we had trailed.

38
Just gi de Englishman de job,he shudda have long time.

I would like to see that.  Should be entertaining if nothing else

Allyuh really doh like Stephen Hart if allyuh advocating for his return as head coach of T&T Mens National football team

Even if DJW is no longer there, T&T football is still toxic.

I hope I'm wrong but T&T society on a whole needs to change...before we see real hope for T&T football and sports administration in T&T in general.

SH in a place now where at least he gets his pay cheque largely on time, he doh have to deal with the constant BS, and his interactions with administration has a modicum of respect to say the least.

Stay far away Stephen.....run and doh look back.   And when yuh exhausted from running.....run some more.

John-Williams says: I never hired TT head coach but…

PRESIDENT of the T&T Football Association (TTFA) David John-Williams says he had no part to play in Dennis Lawrence being selected as head coach of the senior men’s national team.

I suspect some players decide they not playing for no $300 match fee

And if that is the case, maximum respect to them.

You have to take a stand somewhere.  An infinite amount of empty promises will do that to a body

Relieved Warriors get match fee hike from TTFA, look forward to Wales clash.

Thanks Flex.  So if I read this correctly, this “payment” is for this game only and there’s no time frame given in when players will receive their promised “payment”.

If that’s the case, what makes this “promise” different than the countless others have failed to materialize from the DJW administration?

Thanks again

Nick DeLeon had an excellent debut for Toronto FC today.

Was a constant threat to philadelphia and scored the 3rd goal in a 3-1 win for the “Reds”

Nice player and nice pick up for Toronto FC

Why are you continuing to question and wonder and investigate etc?  It’s all to no avail

Palos, that is not true. Most of us outside of TT knew only what we read about him. Some may have know more than others. When the election came around, most of us did not know how to evaluate Tim Kim stint as the prez. We needed money. Vast amount of money. And many felt that Tim Kee was not able to get the money. DJW, being a relatively successful business with a strong passion for the game was given the benefit of doubt over Tim Kee. Is only when he became the prez. we then saw his true colors. Like I does shout out to Contro. sometimes. Do you guys have  benefactor(s) with deep pockets to rescue this organization. I have know clue who has money in TT to help run TTFA. All the monied people we know of in TT has no interest in TTFA.

Really Deeks?

You didn’t know that DJW was the Owner of W Connection?  A team that plays in the highest league in T&T

You didn’t know what a significant conflict of interest it represented that he was running for President of the then TTFF?

You could claim ignorance about a host of other things, but not about that.  And that alone is reason enough to disqualify him.

If he so wanted to be TTFF President, he needed to relinquish how ownership in W Connecrion and sever all ties to that club.  He did neither.

There’s another example of this in the Inited States with Trump.  Congrats.  Allyuh have another Trump running T&T football.

Like I said, you don’t get to come back now and bawl “I didn’t know”

All the people who supported DJW and bawl bout give him a chance etc are complicit.

We ALL knew then who he is and what he represents and allyuh STILL support him. You don’t get to come back now and say “yuh didn’t know” or “he had a good manifesto”

Give him a chance, take he $, whatever it is....take DJW in Allyuh pweffen

Next time allyuh feel like complaining about T&T football, take a good look in the mirror and reflect on the role support for and staying silent about and defending DJW plays in it.

Players not getting paid from since 2017?

Can’t be true.  We were assured that the players would be paid

We just need to give the man a chance

Right?

They voted for him to finish his tenure?

Essentially. It was a confidence/no confidence vote.

This is all a sham.  Even if they had a majority no confidence vote, they weren’t going to remove him anyway.

Sadly. Just like. The country....or more to the point, mirroring the country....T&T football gone thru

There is no saving it. No chance of redemption.   It is what it is.

I do admire those people trying to make a positive change....but all of their efforts are futile. It’s too late. And we’re all complicit.

Sadly, Tobago has historically been neglected when it comes to development in any sport.

Even sadder, athletes from Tobago in every sport  POTENTIALLY have the most natural athletic ability per capita of any of the athletes in the twin island state.

It is to the sporting detriment of T&T that athletes from Tobago are generally neglected.  When players do come through to national prominence, it’s often in spite of, not because of any development initiative from the respective governing sporting bodies.

To be fair, development isn’t exactly high on the list of “achievements” my many national sporting bodies. To ago just usually gets the shittiest end of the stick

If those highlights are an accurate reflection on the passage of play throughout the match, the final
Score flattered us significantly.

Other than that missed opportunity from the Peltier cross (a beauty by the way), we did absolutely nothing on offense and looked poor in defence.  Iran #10 was taking target practice....in open play!

BTW coach, is “the Iranian people or the Iranian team”.  Not “Irani”

I think you get them mixed up with Iraq

RIP Ray Roberts.  Hard kicking a football is a lost art these days

Now the ball must be have something to do with it.  Back in the day, the ball was heavier and had laces.  When t was wet, it was tougher to head the ball.  Kicking the ball hard was an art.

In Colleges League, Gavin Onaba, Ronnie Simmons, Emerson Dubisson, Birain Big Bird Brown were all hard kickers of the ball

In more recent times....Elliott Allen and Kerry Jamersok come to mind

Is there anyone in local football now at any level mainly famous for their hard shot?

Star players that suffered a major injury and weren’t the same after coming back

Anthony Sherwood.  I believe he was on his way to a trial with a Queens Park Rangers when he broke his leg in a clash with a goalkeeper at the stadium playing for T&T

I was at that game.  Sherwood had skills for days.  When he came back? He was a different player.  I read somewhere where he amsaid he came back different and a better player.  A sort of “less is more” mentality.

What I will say is that prior to that injury, Sherwood was the type of balla that Trinis love.  Flashy, skillful, and spannerin men for fun.

Nkosi Blackman.  Most famous for scoring T@T’s first ever goal in a FIFA World Cuo at any age level.  After his injury, just not the same player.

Yep, I saw Veron a couple of times in NY. Heard a lot about when I went back home on holiday. When I saw him he was not in his prime but still playing pretty good. There is also a dude named Nkosi Blackman in NY. He played for the youth in the youth WC that was held in TT. There was also Bertrand Neptune. HIS STORY WAS REALLY SAD.
Bertha.  Big Balla.  Ask SH bout he and Peter Mitchell.  2 of his favorite footballers.
