They forgot to mention that Ali made his national Sr. debut while still in MSC.

I believe it was 1984 or 85. Arthur Suite's leage was banned by Jack/TTFA so was any player playing in  the League. TT played with a basic Second Eleven for a year.

Ali was asked to make his debut vs Mexcio. He didn't too bad considering. We lost 2-0.

I myself was in high school and I was thinking Damn! They take him from MSC to make his debut vs Mex. of all teams.

Hadad ready for TTFA challenge
T&T Guardian

"My degree is in accounting (University of the West Indies). I am a real Caribbean Boy. I love my country and I love everything about T&T, said Hadad, who worked in accounting at Peat Marwick, before the family business got going in 1992. However, it was while working at Peat Marwick in 1990 he got into the administrative side of the football.

"I worked with Ralph Brown and Ollie (Oliver) Camps at the end of the 'Road to Italy 1989'. I was an auditor and my assignment was actually working on the Road to World Cup Fund and doing the audit for them afterwards, so it's kind of funny, that 30-plus years afterwards, I am here now, trying to make an impact, back in football and maybe turn things around a bit.

Hmm. T&T teams could win competitive games yes. I almost forget what dat feel like
to hear andre baptiste tell it yuh would tink d house falling down dat selfish prick is no patriot

There is an element of willful hype in the mix.

Last week he was discussing the NAAA's travel arrangements to the Bahamas and he was presented with a lucid rendition of Caribbean Airlines' position by Dionne Legoure ... yet he embarked on embracing the most unlikely interpretation of facts that were not in dispute, topped off by playing post-interview a recording of an ad for the show that while somewhat appropriate for airing before the interview ... was definitely inflammatory at best post-interview ... particularly in light of what had been fleshed out for any discerning listener.

He either didn't wish to be wrong, simply was more interested in the hype or just failed to absorb the distinctions with which he had been presented.

All of this was quite at odds with the reason he demonstrated while engaging Bajan cricket journalist, Ezra  Stuart, last week ... that is,  other than inartfully trying to protest a point that Stuart expressed. Protest=screaming.

If you're the interviewer, yuh really doh need to "go there" even if on the phone and even if the guest is marching on blindly voicing his opinion and can't be corralled in the manner one would employ in-studio.

Enthusiasm is no excuse. Hype and excitement of this nature detract from responsibility in delivery on the airwaves.
Andre is ah charlatan and buffoon plain and simple lost all respect for him when he opted to throw d women warriors under d boss for what ever d inducement dat DJW throw him he,s f**king snake
hey lefty, just here to thumbs up your post. I really can’t stand that bloke either. To think he endorsed DJW while campaigning against David Cameron was nothing short of shocking. He has an end of the year award (biggest boo boo in sports) but did not nominate DJW at least once, IMO that beyond shocking, yet had the nerve to nominate William wallace for the secondary school football president. that told me all I need to know about the worst sport commentator on the planet.

If an englishman from Yorkshire were to vacation in trinidad and tuned in to his commentary of the game, that englishman would think he was listening to the game in a different language. awful awful diction and very colloquial in his commentary. don’t know how he landed the gig TBH, the man has nothing going for him in that regard.

I have wondered that for years. I believe he has a high ranking position with Toyota and may bring a certain amount of advertisement to the table.

dat man does get on my last nerve, and dat TTFA hypocrisy jus make d hatred worse

Imagine two such GKs available to us and nobody even thought of giving them a game or two to at least tie them to us.

Of course we have no fkng program so perhaps that is why...no game to actually play.

he has coached befor,e youth teams, defensively passable, offensively slow and one dimensional with no counter-attacking or at least poorly implemented counter-attacking, was 11 or 12 during Italia 90 WCQ, was the strike squad play slow, it never struck me as slow but I was 11-12 at that age your sense of perception can be very misleading, but SLOW is a common complaint about our football recently and is dat generation coachin now ???

Strange you should say slow. I had a friend who used to play for Trintoc. Long story short he was brought on as a sub in an exhibition game for TT around '88 - low level game.

As he put it: "It's a good thing I made a few good passes. In general, I played shit. Them men must be some kind of half horse, the way they (TT) was playing fast."

Strike Squad to me was like Brazil Light - good skill and build up. But perhaps a pro player might have a different opinion.

Interesting stuff. He seems like one of our better coaches - does he love youth coaching too much to take the helm of a first-team in the near future?
I think it's just a matter of opportunity. He was the Coach for United Petrotrin and Sanfernando Giants. He was also the Asst. Coach to the NST in the past.

But the man have a consistent income with WC so I guess he know better than to end up with a fly by night team.

Well DF really couldn't complain, could they?

VB, I once spoke to Curtis Murrel, youth team teammate, who played on DF team at the time. Playing the tournament was enjoyable. But after that nothing else. If they won no prize money. The Mex. and Central American sponsors had incentives for any of their teams winning. It was a national achievement in that region. In TT, the prize was guardian, express write up.  A pat on the back and ah bun and ah sweet drink. In addition the flight and accommodation incurring expenses. They had won about 6 or 7 consecutive TT championships. After a while the incentives was not there. Even if they beat the SA champions, they still would not be going to the intercontinental cup.

Even if they beat the SA champions, they still would not be going to the intercontinental cup.

before the FIFA took over the World Club competition, it was strictly Euro-SA game. But Conmebol and Concacaf champions would play each other for a de facto hemispheric champion. So what if let's say DF had beaten Argentinos Juniors on that day in POS. DF would not have gotten to play the Euro champs. So there was no incentive.

FIFA wanted the African, Asian and the Concacaf champs to be included, the Euros and SA did not. So for almost 2 decades the games was not sanctioned by FIFA.

Racist mofos.

If you have a video link, please post it.

Curious as to this "hosting" as this was not the norm in other years.

There was tinkering here and there and restructing just as we've seen in recent time with the Nations League and other events. That "continental" final between Argentina Juniors and DF (played in T&T) ordinarily should have been a two-leg affair. Only one match was played.

I was surprised they only played one game that year. But I guess Juniors was certainly confident that they could handle DF.

You sure Deeks?

I thought they drew in TT but lost 1-0 in Argentina.

Ok Deeks, you right.

I see Defence Force played Olimpia of Honduras in the Finals and lost.

What is curious is that both games were played in Hond.

Anyone know as to why?

VB

By "both games" you mean home and away? Thrre was a true home and a true away.

This is normally a home and away affair. It certainly was the year before when DF lost to America of Mexico.
But in 1988 both games were played in the opponent's home turf.

Regarding their schedule this is the response I got from the TTPFL:

Mr. Bhoolai,

Thank you for your interest in the TT Pro League.

December scheduled concluded on the 20th and January's schedule will commence on the 3rd. We are expected to play every Friday and Tuesday in January. Because I don't have confirmation on the playing venues at present it would be difficult to send them out. However, as soon as I am able to get the venues confirmed I will remember to email them to you.

Kind regards,
Julia Baptiste

Does the TTPFL still have a website. googled but couldn't find it.

They still have the domain, but the website is non-functional. They typically provide updates on their Facebook Page, but it's not consistent.

???

 :beermug: :beermug:

Anybody knows where I can find a schedule for PFL games for Dec. It sure as hell not on their FB page.

Seriously!!

We have a national league and no one know when the games are.
There was a double header at the HCS on Friday which I would have gone to.

I hate to say it but our football program is just a regressive joke.

Breds, I think you should find employment in the TT pro league updating they website. Oh shims, I forget. They eh have money to pay You, and You eh tying up yourself to wuk for free.
I reached out to the relevant people in the Pro League multiple times a while back and offered to provide them a website (any charges would've likely been minimal) as we have done for Jamaica Premier League and also collaborated with the Super League in 2018.  I never got any reply.

I do not have any insider information, but as I saw at the last board meeting they have a commission in place to implement the T-League, it is possible the Pro League doesn't want to invest much time in to something like a website right now.  I will say though that that is hardly an excuse as the Pro League has lagged behind for years in terms of coverage.

It wasn't always like this. In the past their website even had videos of past games - full games.

How the hell can someone come to a game if  they don't know when and where it is. I would have gone to the double header at the HCS on Friday. STEUUUPPPSS!!!

And now I begging the PFL for a schedule.
