Nah,

In the last WC there were 11 Brazilians NOT playing for Brz.

That included countries such as Cost Rica and Japan.

So not one J'can could make a Con ?  :)

I thınk Rıcardo Gardener should be there, unless he has tailed off badly.

Certainly Yorke and Dog there.

Few might agree, but Theobald and Glenn could be Super Subs on such a team.

Remember Lobod for TT. The man use to come off de bench for ASL, but yuh know he was always on the national team.

Thıs ıs why we should have some games going on around the country. The Probables vs. the Possıbles.

We could see fellas lıke Norway, Abu Bakr Jr., Jagdeosingh, Shakes, Hart and a few others.

Even if most of the possibles don't make the side. The Coach would have an idea for the future. And we could have a good idea if injuries or Red Cards give us any headaches.

I for one am miffed at the lack of options we have when these men taking FKs.

Richard Goddard could give u some serious lyrics abt. this.

Two years ago I read in the local Press that although there was a Tobago team, the reality was that 17 decent Tobagonians were practisıng their trade in Trinidad.

In addıtion a number of good Tobagonians were playıng College ball in the US.

This Tobago outfıt is like a C side or worse.

What shocked me last yr. was when I spoke to Rıchard he explained that a lot of players from BSC's Coaching school would not be ınterested in playıng for the Tobago Team. Some kınd of comeptitive thıng in addition to being faithful to BSC(RG correct meh if ah wrong).

IF the best of Tobago ever got together it would be very interesting. İn the meantime common sense dictates that they get some outside players. But perhaps the finance is lacking.

I have often wished that in the off season they get a TRUE Tobago Eleven to play some exhibition games. And ah talking the best Bagonians...where ever they mıght be playıng from.

Now, it might be unreasonable to expect world famous clubs to come until the tournament get some kinda credibility.  This is where the ex-nationals come in:  Many trinis abroad are successful coaches of youth teams.    Every week I hearing about an expatriate who doing big things in North America.  If some of them could bring teams down for two weeks over the summer to play against the youth teams that our Pro-League and Super League teams have then we have a good tournament there already.
Quote

Jusme...

TT has had such a cup for the last two years now.

They are unable to draw the really big teams, becz other countries have the same idea during the summer time. The two really big tournaments are the Dallas Cup and the Robbie Tournament (Canada) that I know of. However, there are countless ideas.

However, if TT perserveres with this idea, the tournament will grow.

North, Central American and Caribbean Zone >>
Canada (CAN)
Overview | News | Profile | Country Information
Luckless Canada miss out

A new boss in respected former international Frank Yallop, a brimming stable of foreign-based talent and a trademark Canadian fighting spirit were simply not enough to see the Canucks through to the final round of North and Central American and Caribbean Zone qualifying. The poor run of results, though partially down to poor luck, saw what some expected to be a resurgent 2004 end in the same heartache as years past – with Germany 2006 dreams strewn in pieces on the snow-covered ground.
With hopes of reliving the glory days of 1986, when they qualified for their only FIFA World Cup™ in Mexico, the Canadians had little trouble surging through to the semi-final round of the region’s qualifiers with two 4-0 wins over Belize. But despite being able to call on such attacking players as Tomasz Radzinski, Iain Hume, Paul Peschisolido and recent Millwall signing Josh Simpson, the 2000 Gold Cup winners fell flat in the hunt for goals in the semi-final round. The disappointment was surely felt most keenly by former player and current boss Yallop, who took over the team’s reins in January of 2004.

“Our play in the final third was not good enough, and that’s not just for the forwards but everybody,” the coach told FIFAworldcup.com in an exclusive post-qualifying interview. “It wasn’t from a lack of effort -- we really put our heart and soul into it, but we couldn’t unlock the door.”

With a fine spirit in the side and hopes pinned on a new generation that came inches from reaching the semi-finals of the FIFA World Youth Championship in the United Arab Emirates in 2003, things could not have gone worse for the expectant Canadians. Finishing with only five points from six matches and scoring only four goals, the anaemic numbers tell only part of the story.

Drawn into an admittedly tough Group 2 alongside Guatemala, Honduras and Costa Rica, things were never going to be easy for Yallop’s charges. But on several occasions, they could have taken full points in their hunt for a spot in the final group stage. Both meetings with Honduras – oddly enough the side they beat to qualify for Mexico 86 – were packed full of incident, with questionable goals disallowed and a general sense of poor fortune pervading.

A win over Guatemala in their last game went a small way to healing wounded pride and kept the Canucks from suffering the humiliation and ignominy of finishing winless with only two slim points from six matches.

In the end, Yallop was pleased with the effort put in by his lads. But he sees a time for healing injured confidence as the most important thing moving forward.

“We can’t be impatient,” said the boss who picked out up-and-comer Atiba Hutchinson as a player to watch for the future. “And, we need to get our confidence back -- the public, the Association, the players, all of us.”

Facts

Canada have competed in the FIFA World Cup preliminaries 11 times since 1958, but have only qualified for the finals once.

They put in a creditable performance at Mexico '86, despite finishing the group round with no points and a blank goal sheet. They lost close games to France (1-0), Hungary (2-0) and Russia (2-0).

Canada's 2002 FIFA World Cup™ qualifying campaign came to a premature end with defeats by Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago. Their best win dates back a long way in a venerable rivalry tradition: in 1904, Canada defeated the USA 7-0.

When I was a youth growing up in the 80s a CFU U-19 tournament was held annualy.

Dexter Skeene was on the 1981 side, Captained and V. Captained by Garth Pollanais and Ronnie Simmons respectively.

The 1984 squad had fellas like Leonson Lewis, lindley PRince, Marcelle, Fausting, Charles and Dexter Sandy.

I didnt think he looked anything special he aint no starter in my book he is a man that can come on perhaps on the left midfield  or as a striker id prefer to see kenwyn strike in front of him but he can be dangerous off the bench or maybe on the left midfield position

'Goz, I agree with u completely.

Football / Re: Should T&T host the next Gold Cup
« on: June 11, 2005, 05:26:39 AM »
It's feasible. But we won't be as successful as the Americans becz they have a huge ethnic population eg. Mexcians, Colombians etc.

Canada is a good option. Yes, Can. doesnt' have  as much world class stadia as we do. However, the can convert some of the football stadia, and again with a HUGE ethnic pop. they should pull it off.

Put Canada's group in Edmonton. Put Mex.'s group in Toronto. Put the other two groups in the strategically best place.

Now for TT. Don't play all the games on the same day.

If there are four groups. Have one in South, POS, Arima and Tobago.

Play the POS group on  a day all by itself - no competitons and max. potential crowd.

Maybe stagger the times for the other groups, eg. Arima game at 3 pm...South game at 7 PM...U go see some men toesing it from Arima to South.. :)

Have booths where ppl. can buy a shuttle ticket from one stadium to the other. After the last game have a shuttle servie fro foreigners back to POS...all dey have to do is show passport..so slackers doh get  free ride home. :)

Players and staff is 300
Supprtrs is another 300
At a minimum of 150 US dollars(hotel, food, lime, drink) that's 900 000 US dollars a day.
Now some teams/supporters leave early. So for  first five days...6.3 million US dollars
Next five days..leh we half it..3.15 million....Gentlemen that's Approx. 9. 5 million US generated amongst bars and hotels (and ah didn't factor inthe hoes and dem :-)...roughly 57 million TT dollars in two weeks.

Charge in $80 TT or covered and 40 for stands.
For semis $100 and 50
For finals $120 and 55

Reality u won't get the crowds that u'd get in Canada or the US.

But TV revenue should shold offset some costs...Con. does  get a share of TT rev.
TT will not have to pay hotel costs  for othe teams.

A Colombia, CR. game in Tobago should pull in about  6000 ppl in Tobago.
A Canada-Mex. game should pull in about about 3000 ppl in South

S.A -Guatemala in the East ..anodder 3000 odd.

Yes sad attendance figures..I know. But 3000 at de gate and concessions should cover expenses.

Now TT-HOnduras or TT-Mex at the Stadium..with no other games playing..thats an easy 10 000 ppl right there or much more maybe 17K plus.

Yes Jack go pocket money. But there's enough to go around.

It's feasible..but Jack eh dotish ..so if he eh figure it out yet...there's prob. a good reason for this.

Football / Re: We have time, why not have a Tryout Camp
« on: June 10, 2005, 06:51:33 AM »
Two things:

1 We should constantly have a second 11  in training these days. With some of the better U-23s there, eg. Jagdeosingh and Bakr.

2. Take it easy on Samuel and Zamora. Shaka made us wait 7 years before he heeded the TT call to play for the Sr. team. He was trying to figure out if he could play for The Sr. England side or not. Once he figured out, it prob. wouldn't come, then then joined TT and has given us good service.

These fellas just holding out for as long as the could. Nutten wrong wid dat. What is imprtant is that once they join the team, they commit.

Good lyrics Flex.

And yes I'm MYSTIFIED how we could train for a month.

And in A WC QUALIFIER. not hve a better FK specialist.

It's embarassing. It's like we giving back the FK to the opposition and saying no thanks.

Perhaps Dwar. and Spann could help out here.
