it all depends on your opposition and where you are playing the game. for example, like last night, you know USA is going to come out guns blazing cause dem yankee does get hyped up when dey in front of their crowd. so our first priority should have been to play extremely defensive for the first 15-20mins. i dont care how fit ah team is, they would not have gone 15-20 mins at the pace they started the game last night. after that trinidad needed to play ah POSSESSION game, instead of de long ball game in de first half. after the 15-20 minute interval trinidad would then open up the game and create opportunities. my point is against ah team u think is superior against u and y playin on de road, then it is very important not to concede a goal early, creating doubt in the opposition minds. but at some point in time during the game u must create the chances through possession and good runs off de ball. on de other hand, if yuh playin mexico in mexico city, your game plan should be defensive/counter attack football. playing in mexico, the visiting team has soo many other elements going against you...crowd...altitude...smog...all that can affect your teams performance. so your philosophy must be defensive unless u see the mexican team playin at a poor level (which is rare) and then you change your game plan.
