I voted that he's been good for football. However, that don't mean I don't want him to go. Time to move on JW.

272
Just a thought.....

If Mike Berry received £95,000 for the Edwards deal, how much, I woner did he get for the other Trinis??

If we guess he got £50,000 per player that works out at around £300,000 or approx $4millionTT.

If, as in some cases in England, the union acted as the agent, that would be a lot of money going into FPATT to use for community projects, players education programmes, etc.

JUST A THOUGHT.

273
It's interesting to see that people are realising that FPATT isn't about getting the blacklisted players their money (as some posts seemed to suggest a few weeks ago).

This really is a turning point in Trinidad and Tobagos football history.

Its no accident that there are FPATT events at this time. The planning has been in place to make sure there is maximum impact. JW is using the media to get his views across in interviews concerning the Gold Cup and U17s triumph. FPATT were waiting to answer his claims. Now he's seen FPATT organise the fun day and the Trotman match, he's had to come up with the Digicel Shield. Make no mistake these guys are under pressure and they must be cussin FPATTs every move.

When the blacklisted players line up on sunday in the National Stadium, in FPATT kits, with pro league players and celebtities, with the FPATT anthem playing out, with 10,000 plus supporters, its gonna hurt soooooooo bad!

You know what, Weary, I think he already is leader, like he's already leader of FIFA.

Sometimes you don't need the title to get the power.

It would suit him to be "No 2" to both, as he can dictate policy, still keep both positions and let the leaders be the fall guys. Excellent strategy. You have to admire the man.

Dreamer-that was funny, man!

If only that would really happen.

More like Jack would be asking Camps "Get on the phone to those Pakistan cricket boys. Think its time we did a "Woolmer". Lets get them boys over here with their "bobsleighing" technique"

276
Not saying this is the case but:-

Jack fined $250,000.

Jack owed money by TTFF.

Jack says, don't take my money, TTFF owe me big time, take their $250,000 grant.

TTFF got no money, suspend international football.

If it looks like a dog, and barks like a dog, then it probably is a dog, if yuh get my meaning

Maybe Fishs is right about Jack. There can be no doubt that he has kept the TTFF afloat, in much the same way a pimp keeps his hoe's in the stable. All the time they owe, they can't go.

First rule of finance is don't borrow to get out of debt, but if you do, make sure the terms are in your interest.

I think an audit should be ordered. From the results of this, the following should happen:-

If, indeed, the TTFF owe money to Jack, either the govt or a wealthy businessman or company should pay Jack back with an interest free loan, perhaps as part of a Federation wide sponsorship deal.

Then an auditor should look at the salaries these guys are on. Wouldn't mind betting there's some fat cats getting an awful big bowl of cream. Get rid of the dead wood, hangers on and restructure the salary structure. This may mean that some guys have to sit out their contracts.

Install new administrators who actually put football first. This is not a club for the boys any more. It should be run professionally. There should be performance bonuses, not huge salaries. If you don't meet budget targets etc, you get no bonus and eventually the sack.

When you're in financial difficulty, you need to consolidate, cut back and plan your way out, not just keep borrowing more.

Footballis the peoples game. TTFF treat it like their private kingdom. There should be more oversight, more checks and balances and more public information.

Restructure the whole

Some good stuff being laid down here tonite.

Think Tenorsaw got a point. a dollar for TTFF is a vote for JW. You can understand why they don't want to support TTFF. What I don't understand is why they don't just send in a fraud investigation team. If they can find evidence of wrongdoings, they could finish JW overnight. Party politics should not be involved in sport. FIFA state that football is non political. So Jack should decide if he's a politician or a sports administrator. He can still work for Concacaf and FIFA, but he should cut all ties with TTFF FOR THE GOOD OF THE GAME as FIFA often quote.

One question you didn't ask, Dreamer, that is particularly pertinent now:-

How much has Mike Berry been paid by TTFF???

TTFF must be forced to open their books. As I've said before, they are either really crap with money, or something is not quite right. When you work your budgets, you look at whats coming in and then decide how to spend it. That certainly doesn't seem the case over the last year with TTFF.

279
can't be that difficult, Skins. Think the hardest part is covering your tracks!!

Its real easy to rob a bank, its getting away without being caught thats difficult!!

..........but, I told you so lol

280
Touches, not sure if this is just a coincidence or not, but I do know that Brent and Kelvin are feeling the pressure. remember this: foreign players have to play a high percentage of their nations international (75% I think) or they will not have work permit renewed. This is the kinda thing that keeps you awake at night, you know?.

Don't think JW doesn't know this-its part of the pressure to back down. Regardless of the court case, getting involved with FPATT could end their careers abroad.

So when you see these other guys back down, remember it may not just be about money, maybe they're scared they'll never play for the warriors again.

But this only makes the other guys more determined. this kind of power should not be available to TTFF. It's nothing more than schoolyard bullying.

Funny how the players who backed down are represented by a guy who got paid by TTFF to attend the world cup. Who does he really represent?  The phrase "conflict of interest" springs to mind. Don't think anywhere else in the world a man can represent both player and employer.
If you take the Kings shilling you fight for the King.

As Dreamer said, you reap what you sow, and harvest time is coming.

Don't wanna say I told you so......

I gather that Terry Fenwick and the directors at Jabloteh have given permission for Aurtis and Cyd to play in the funday match. Also, I understand there is an agreement that Cornell can make a cameo appearance, as he is not yet fully recovered from injury.

This really puts FPATT on the football map. If the proleague clubs are willing to support the union, its only a matter of time before TTFF are the only people in Trinidad not recognising FPATT.

Carlos, Birchall and Kelvin all in Trini now. Just waiting for Shaka to arrive.

There is a press launch today (friday) at 11am at Hasely Crawford Stadium and its hoped that most pro league clubs will be represented. Also, there is a radio discussion on saturday at 6pm. Not sure which station. Think it will include some of the players and a link up to the "special adviser" Kevin Harrison in England.

Obviously in England theres huge revenue from TV deals. Also they do massive sponsorship deals (Carling Cup, Barclays Premier League, Johnsons Paint Trophy). They have a successful marketing arm which uses football and players in advertising and promotional deals.
Then the clubs pay a percentage of gate money, percentage of transfer fees, and (I think) a membership fee.

FIFA pay countries to participate in tournaments and also a percentage of television rights.

The biggest obstacle facing football in T&T is that currently there is not a wide global interest in the pro league. Therefore the big global sponsors have no commercial benefits from ploughing money into the pro league.

This is why LA paid so much for Beckham. I bet they have already covered his years salary with sponsorship deals.

As I see it, we need to see a millionaire chairman buying one of the clubs. He can then attract some foreign players into the game. Not only will this bring money, but it would help to raise the standard of the game and aid in the development of the youngsters, and maybe keep some of the top players at home.

In know if I was Roman Abromovich,I'd rather be watching football in the sunshine than on a cold wet tuesday in Wigan lol

284
This is exactly the area that FPATT see they can make a difference. With all due respect to those involved, players from the Caribbean, Africa, asia and Eastern Europe are still naive in this area. Think about it. If a player gets offered £1,000 per week by an agent, thats $13,000TT PER WEEK! If the agent says you got to give him$1,300 p.w., you'd jump at it. All that gravy and a chance of making the big timein England. They don't tell you that it will cost $13,000TT p.m.to buy a house!!

Agents have worked out how they can milk this system.  It is really tough to get an agents licence now in England, but they can't do much about ones who already have licences, except toughen up investigations.

Hopefully, FPATT will campaign for a rigourous licence system for agents wanting to operate in T&T.

The players can't be blamed for being naive, and Mike Berry is charging what he feels is fair. However, the more this kind of scandel hits the news, the more players will be careful. Unfortunately, this stuff gets into the news a lot in Europe, but of course, its only of interest to the media in T&T if it involves T&T players.

FPATT PRESS RELEASE

Neil Harris, Millwalls all time record goal scorer has spoke out in support of the formation of a players union in Trinidad and Tobago.  “These days, it is immensely important as a player to know you have the security of an organisation that you can trust to look after your best interests” said Harris. “there are so many people willing to offer you advice, but you can’t always be sure if the advice offered is better for you, or better for them. Clubs, managers, physios, agents and even the F.A. have their own interests to consider first, whereas the P.F.A.s’ main interest is to support you as a player.”

Harris enjoyed an illustrious first season with Millwall, winning the  Golden Boot in 2000/2001 as the top English goal scorer. After spells with Cardiff (loan), Nottingham Forest and Gillingham (loan), Neil has finally returned to his spiritual home. “Millwall is where I feel at home, and I fully expect us to be challenging for an automatic promotion spot next season” said Harris, who scored his 94th  league goal for Millwall against Rotherham in January, to steal Teddy Sheringhams title of  all time league goal scorer.

“It was a proud moment” said Neil “But one that I didn’t think I would achieve back in 2001” Harris was out of football for nearly a year when he was diagnosed with cancer. “That’s when  you realise that  you have to be grateful for what you have and not take things for granted. A few months before, I was a goalscoring  hero, the next, just another patient in hospital. At these times, the support of family and friends is essential. But it is also when you realise that the PFA is there for you. Aside from fighting illness, you worry about your career, and although the supporters and staff at Millwall were tremendous, you know that you‘re only as good as your last game. The guys at the PFA gave me support and advice, and it was comforting to know that  there was financial security in place via their insurances and  pensions if I needed it.”

“For the players in Trinidad & Tobago to have the support of a players union is invaluable. You take it for granted most of the time, but if you are unlucky enough to go through  a difficult phase in your career, its good to know you  have someone on your side” said Harris, who played alongside Soca Warriors Brent Sancho and Ian Cox at Gillingham. “The PFA have contacted me several times to offer advice to players suffering similar traumas to me, and I’ve been delighted to offer some comfort to those guys.”

About the formation of the Football Players Association of Trinidad & Tobago, Neil said “I saw how proud  Sanch and Coxy were about representing Trinidad & Tobago in the world cup and was a little bit envious”. Harris  continued “it’s a vast achievement,  and it’s a shame that  players are not being selected because they are in dispute with their federation over bonuses. It’s something that wouldn’t happen here in England, as the P.F.A. would be the middle man between players and clubs or  the F.A.  This is why its essential for FPATT to speak on behalf of all of Trinidad & Tobago’s players. “

Looking forward, Neil’s next target is Sheringhams 111 goal all competition total. “it’s a target I’ve always aimed for” said Harris.  “My total stands at 104 goals, so I really feel its finally within my reach”

This is the whole point. Once you achieve a powerbase such as the caribbean, its hard to be deposed. Thats why Jack is world footballs most powerfull man. He's the power behind the throne. Its said he controls around 50 votes.

There is a similar powerbase in Africa, but Blatter owns the third power base and this, coupled with Jacks, ensured Blatter won the last presidency.

remember the story about a staff member pretending to be the Haiti delegate and voting in an election?

But this power and control makes Jack unpopular with many countries. He's achieved many good things for T&T, but also taints peoples perception of Trinidad & Tobago. T&T made many friends on the football field while Jacks making enemies in FIFA.

all transfer fees must be declared to the FA. This is a rule brought in to bring transparency to english football.

Basically, agents were paid by clubs to encourage their players to sign. Therefore, the agent got paid by club and player, but the players were not aware of this. Literally, some agents received a brown paper bag full of cash. In one well documented case, an Italian player was signed by an English club and was told that the club would pay the agents fee. The player got a tax bill 18 monthes later for £400,000. He had to pay the tax as a benefit in kind. The agent was paid £1,000,000.

The FA will punish Luton Town. Don't know if they can punish Tomlins, because he has resigned as chairman.

Obviously, a player may wonder if the agent is acting in his best interest if the club is paying the agent an additional secret fee. Maybe the player could have had this extra money. Maybe there was a better deal at another club, but they wouldn't pay the agent a "sweetener".

It would be interesting to hear Carlos's view.

don't forget, Mike Berry was paid by TTFF to attend the world cup.....and his players aren't on the blacklist.

Makes you wonder if they had a private deal with TTFF? Also, wonder if Mike Berry advised them to drop the court case, and if he did, which employer was he working for, the players or TTFF.

You can see why FPATT want to address the issue of agents and maybe provide their own agenty service.

Exposed: The Chairman who paid agents £150,000 in bungs
16.05.07

Football's bung culture has been laid bare by an astonishing admission from a leading club chairman that he made a series of bogus payments to players' agents.
Former Luton Town chairman Bill Tomlins made the remarkable confession in an interview with FA lawyers investigating the club, whose former manager, Mike Newell, claimed that corruption was rife throughout football.

The payments admitted by Tomlins were: ● To Edwin Stein, representing Marcus Heikkinen, two unauthorised amounts totalling £25,000.
● To Sky Andrew, representing Ahmet Brkovic, three unauthorised payments totalling £37,500.
To Imageview Agency (Mike Berry), representing Carlos Edwards, four unauthorised payments totalling £44,500.
● To Stellar Sports, representing Kevin Nicholls, one unauthorised payment of £7,500.
● To Treble B Sports (Andy Mills) representing Rowan Vine, one unauthorised payment of £10,000.
● To Direct Sports (Mark Curtis), representing Steve Howard, one unauthorised payment of £16,000
● To Key Sports (Steven Denos) representing Marlon Beresford, one unauthorised payment of £10,000.

Everyboby wants this issue resolved (apart from, it appears, TTFF)

The players have not with held their labour. There is no strike.

Everyone can return to the table to negotiate, and I bet the players will have to compromise, but you know what? Thats their personal business.

Blacklisting players is the kind of childish, destructive bullying you expect from dictators. I notice that since FPATTs "Special Adviser", Kevin Harrison  (a title I'm sure was chosen as a direct prod at JW) issued a statement saying that there is no FIFA rule forcing the ban, Jack and Ollie haven't mentioned this FIFA rule. They were using that rule like they were saying "Its out of our hands. Rules is rules. We want to select them but can't"

It appears that their bluff was called. They can no longer lie to the people without being questioned.

You can also see Wims attitude changing. He's becoming more and more direct with his comments as his frustration builds. My guess is that he's looking to protect his job when the future bosses of TTFF take over. Its obvious whose side he's on.

The cracks are appearing, people. Keep up the pressure. Send your protest to FIFA (see other thread)

FPATT PRESS RELEASE

Leyton Orient left back Matt Lockwood, has backed the formation of a players union in Trinidad & Tobago.  Lockwood, who is Orients all time record penalty scorer, has been selected for the P.F.A.s’  team of the year for the 4th time . He scored 11 times for the O’s this season and was the London clubs second highest scorer.

“Having benefited throughout my career from the support offered by the P.F.A. in England, I believe FPATT (Football Players Association of  Trinidad & Tobago) can  assist Trinidad & Tobago in building on the fantastic accomplishment of World Cup qualification in 2006” said Lockwood.

FPATT intend to provide as many of the benefits offered by the English P.F.A. as possible, including education programmes, football in the community initiatives and financial services.

Lockwood, who will be celebrating his 10th season with Leyton Orient this year hopes to net a big name Premiership club for his testimonial. “It would be great for the fans if we can arrange a match with the top premiership guys on show” said Lockwood. He added “I’ve been very lucky in my career, but it gives you confidence to know that the P.F.A. are only a phone call away if you need them. I see a lot of the good work that they do. Orients football in the community scheme is one of the best in the country, and that is an initiative the P.F.A. can be proud of.”

Lockwood continued “I believe that  professional players of all nations should have access to a footballers union, and urge the professional  footballers of Trinidad & Tobago to get behind  FPATT. The union will only be as strong as its membership, and players need to speak with one voice. When you look at the unprecedented amounts  of money being put into football these days, players need a dedicated  body to negotiate on their behalf and ensure all players interests are protected.”

British players speak out in support of FPATT.

Welsh International goalkeeper, Glyn Garner has stated his disbelief concerning an alleged blacklist of Trindad & Tobagos  World Cup stars.
“ I can’t understand why a  national federation would prevent  its national manager from selecting some of the country’s top players” said Garner, who played for Wales in a pre World Cup warm up match against the Soca Warriors in Austria last June .
Garners comments followed a series of statements made by Trinidad & Tobago Football Federation officials and the national team manager Wim Rijsbergen,  which  stated that  the members of the world cup squad that are considering taking legal action against the federation, are not available for selection. The federation president, Oliver Scamps, had previously stated that  "Anybody who takes their Federation to court is in violation of FIFA rules. Once that threat is in the making we cannot deal with them,"

“It’s incredible” said Garner “How can this happen? The players have done nothing wrong, or threatened to strike. Even though they are in dispute over alleged unpaid bonuses, they  still want to play for their country. Why can’t the federation sort this out without weakening the teams chances of success. I can’t imagine anything like this happening in Wales . Even if there was a dispute, the PFA would negotiate with the Welsh  F.A. and the players would carry on representing their country.”

The Leyton Orient keeper continued “It’s obviously essential that they get their players union established ASAP.  This must be very frustrating for players and supporters.  Playing for your country is  every players ultimate aim, but that does not mean that the authorities should use it as a weapon  against anyone who questions them. If a player doesn’t adhere to his contract, he will be called to tribunal and, if guilty, can be punished, so surely the same applies to federations?  I think someone like CONCACAF or FIFA should get this matter resolved before too much damage is done to the national team.”

Football / Re: FPATT Kit
« on: May 16, 2007, 01:51:02 AM »
The top kit is the FPATT training kit.

Red and white is the official FPATT uniform.

Celebrities playing in all white.

Training kit and FPATT shirt will be available for £29.99. There will be a short sleeve version at £32.99 (unbelievably, it costs more because the sleeves have to be cut down!) Replica shirts in UK usually retail at £39.99.

There will be a link shortly to a special Vandanel page where shirts can be purchased direct, but shipping costs to T&T are expected to cost around £7. All FPATT items will be available locally once deals can be arranged with sports shops. It is also hoped that all league clubs in T&T will hold stock.

Obviously, this is just a visual and the logo will be more defined on the actual kits.

It was priority of the players that the Trinidad & Tobago flag was on the shirts.

Apparently the word out is that Dwight agreed to participate in the gold cup under the conditions that he will skipper his same World Cup team...In other words, the black list must be shredded, and his original team invited.  I am of the understanding that Jack agreed to Dwight's conditions and, measures are being put in place for the upcoming tournament in Trinidad month end.  So people, this could mean real trouble for dem rest ah team in de gold cup.....If this info is indeed accurate.

Couple of things.......

FPATT are not representatives of the blacklisted players and will not get involved with the money issue unless invited. However, FPATT was started by some of the blacklisted players a couple of years ago, but didn't have the help and advice they have now from FIFPro, PFA, etc.
FPATT are actively in favour of the blacklist being removed. This is a different issue. Whether TTFF or the players are right about the money, players should not be blacklisted for challenging their employers.

FPATT will be a representative body for all T&T professional footballers and if the blacklisted players are now asked to join the squad, the interests of the original Gold Cup squad who are discarded must be addressed. It will be another example of mismanagement by TTFF.

Finally, I spoke to Brent Sancho 5 hours ago and he had no knowledge of this.

Guess we just have to wait and see.

Next list I make, I will try to put addresses in format that will allow you to cut and paste straight into address box.

I think Dwight could do more for football in T&T by publicly uniting with the blacklisted players. I'm sure he wants to play for T&T  one more time. I'm equally sure he doesn't need the money.

If he stated that he was honoured to be chosen, but that he only wanted to play if he was part of a team selected from Trinidad & Tobagos best possible squad including those blacklisted players, he would be a hero either way.

If Jack says no, then Dwight becomes a martyr to the cause, if Jack gives in, Yorke is the man who saved T&T football.

Question is, has he the balls to stand up to Jack, or are there other hidden agendas afoot?

If Dwight does play in the Gold Cup, its his responsibility as senior player to ensure that correct contracts are in place, or to ask FPATT to negotiate contracts on behalf of the players.

If a big dog bites yah ass, you better make sure its got a muzzle next time you go near it.
