Football / Re: Why France is ahead of England
« on: March 26, 2008, 01:18:43 AM »
I think the difference is in mentallity. The English believe in developing strength, and making an athlete into a baller ie if your'e quick, tall etc, then they can make you into a footballer. On the continent technique and skill is first and formost, then tactical awareness after. physical attributes are not pondrerd on till later development. Also while the emphasis in the English youth systems is winning, the emphasis on the continent is improving players, so in the long run the continental teams will always be ahead. Of course there are alot more to it but this I think is a major factor.

Yorke never played against sando tech, not 100% sure bout hutchi, but yorke definitely no.that team had players like jomo pitt, ceon lyne etc

Football / UK 2nd intercol/independence football
« on: September 03, 2007, 08:27:00 AM »
This took place on the 2nd Sept.(yesterday), with South zone being victorious on penalty kicks (5-4) in the  final vs. the defending champs north zone. All in all a good day with a good turn out, with this year being extremely competitive. East and Tobago not as dominant as our miami comrads(played with tobago in first 2 tournaments), though east boast a host of really good players. Until next year congrats to South and all the players who won individual accolades.

Football / Re: Riquelme to spurs ??
« on: August 25, 2007, 01:05:38 AM »
i think a player of that calibre is exactly what spurs need. You cyar shoot no ducks if de gun not loaded. they have all the striking talent they have  but no one to supply them with the killer pass . so they starved of service thus not scoring.they bought the guns with no amunition.

« on: August 23, 2007, 04:44:44 PM »
from what I saw today imo, we are tactically unaware of what needs to be done when we lose the ball as well as when we have it. We didn't look compact when we lost the ball, alot of ball watching and not aware of where the opponents are, 3 defenders pushing up and 1 staying in thus leaving players onside( on several occasions), the keepers starting position. and all this was just on the defensive side. i thought cyrus and primus had to work excessively because the rt & left backs went walk about.I can go on but will stop there. we had a few good individuals when attacking, but football doesn't just go 1 way. all i can say is it has to be 1 of two things, either the players are unable to carry out simple basic instructions, or the coaching staff is inept tactically and unable to see these simple short comings, Idon't know but will have a look against Germany to see if anything changes.

Nil Lamptey, ah tink da is how to spell it.

Ah dont believe men put Redondo, one ah de best midfielders of that generation, who moved to Milan age 33-34 and retired at 36

also valeron had a cruciate came back and got injured again so wouldn't consider him in this list

Keon Daniel had a bit of a tough time as he was trying to play ball winner but the Hatian midfielders are nippy and quick passing.

Are you sure it was Keon playing in the midfield as his name was not mentioned in commentary. thanks for the report. Bless

i supportin t&t no matter what team is put out period. now this team may not be as experienced as the world cup team, but if we want to qualify and look forward to big things ahead, we have to give these players( younger ones )a chance to gain that experience. I know you should want to win every comp. entered, but if 2010 roll around and we have to call back cyd, stern etc(the older players) we would cuss dat we not producing players. bigger player pool more comp for places, better standard team. just my humble opinion.

Men like they doe read properly boy. ah even put the ting in brackets when ah say most. and we go have to determine wha we mean by great players. cause some men callin some names of good but not greats. and by de way man does only bring up pass times that they most enjoyed doin.

Football / Re: Could you see Latapy and Shaka......as...
« on: February 05, 2007, 10:20:10 AM »
Could we envison that sometime between now and 2010 these two players figuring  somewhere in the coaching ranks of our national team?

What would be the upside of players of this calibre and experience coaching our team in this capacity?

Are these players ready to parlay their knowledge of the game, teach our younger palyers and employ strategies to lead a national team?

Supa love Latapy tuh death as ah player, and ah want him tuh be successful as ah coach, just de same way he is as a player. I will love for him tuh work under a world qualified coach like ah Beenie, etc for a couple years and den definitely ah would give him ah shot at de head job. The same thing I will suggest for Shaka. Putting Latapy out there as head coach just like dat, cuz he was an excellent player and have some coaching experience at Flakirk, is just setting up we hero tuh fail. HIGHLY BLESSED.

Latapy football cv could only probably be topped by yorke when he gets his coaching badge.
Latapy how ever is a football genius. Magician handle did not come because he have magic powder in he pocket, is because on de field of play the man's brain is equal to einstien. to me that is the most important ingredient to have as a coach.... I would give latas ah shot in de morning as head coach if he want it. wim is ah schoolboy compared to latas.

History has shown that most( and notice I said most)  great players are not completely successful as head coaches. Platini, Hoddle, Maradona to name a few. the reason suggested is they seem to be unable to cope with players of less ability than they had, and when an instruction is passed out and it's not perfectly executed as they would, they can't understand why. Now I'm not saying that Latapy, Shaka or Dwight would fall into this category, but we need to be careful and make sure that they would be effective in working with people of lesser ability than they ever had. Just my humble opinion.

Football / What motivates todays player
« on: November 14, 2006, 03:17:37 AM »
money or the love of the game. I sometimes wonder when looking at some top leagues where the money is rampant, are these players really bothered what happens or are they concerned about the cheque at the end of the month. And sometimes by the body language of the players eg cup games when you have to go to lower league teams that aren't as glamarous, you can see they don't really want to be there. What do you think?

de man name is mc millan not mc donald and yes at the time in bago he was rated more highly that dwight. but he didn't play intercol football so alot of people in trini may not have heard of him. and yes he was also selected to go to villa for  trials but parents did not want him to go so who knows what may have happened. he is also the older brother of ashley mc millan.

just found a store in Ilford that has the T&T shirts. Only small and medium left though. Don't have a website but here's a number 0208 478 7516. Hurry while stocks last. Also checked Sports World as they were the biggest retailer adidas sent them to and the a**holes in the head office said they didn't  think they would have any demand in England so they sent all to Scotland hence no availability down here. Also soccer scene in covent gardens has 3 large left, phone # 0207 240 4070.
