watchin da clip jus give me goose bumps, look like de people jus appreciatin de boys, no scene. If dis was to happen on de way to de stadia, den we might need to worry.

I heard Hristo Stoichkov and Rui Costa were both heavy smokers.

I had the opportunity this past season to go watch a championship game (Coventry vs Crystal Palace), and a Premiership- game (Charlton vs Spurs) within a week of each other. The difference was immence. The first game's quality was lacking badly in terms of movement, passing and pace.In the second the passing was more crisp, loads of movement on and off the ball, and everything was done with pace while having quality. Now we have to remember that when we play internationals against teams like Czech Rep, they are the best players they have to offer from pace right down to skill, and they are strongly tested by the best in the world every week at their clubs, while we are not. And unless your'e accustomed to playing against that kind of quality you will struggle.

Well said Filho, as I was about to make some of the same points you've just made. Just one I'm unsure about. Why would they be technically better. Maybe I'm wrong but doesn't all the players on this team belong to a pro team youth set up in T&T? If so won't they be working on technique on a regular basis with their clubs as well as the national team? Just a thought, agian I don't know set up with players and clubs etc.

Football / Re: Leo Roget - suprise call up?
« on: February 03, 2006, 12:45:50 PM »
I met Leo when we were at southend back in 1996. He ws a youth player and very good(Southend was in div1 then). A few years later Dutch side Feynoord ( not sure of spelling) came in for him, deal fell through last minute. He told me his dad was from Tobago, and when St Clair was in charge for his first stint, I made him aware of Leo. He was about to get his call when St. Clair then got fired as boss. I can tell you Leo was very dissapointed. This was back in 2001 I think. I got in touch with him again since and he has always been interested in playing for T&T. Leo was always the fittest player at the club and was a strong, hard tackleing, quick defender. I haven't seen him lately but I also know he played with Tony Rougier I think at Brighton, so he can also tell you  something about him.

Football / Re: Best #8 EVER !!
« on: January 25, 2006, 06:10:32 PM »
The best #8 I've ever seen is by far is Frank Rijkaard. Solid defensively, and also a serious threat going foward

72
nice interview hope the youth progress and meet all his aspirations. One question, he mentioned," We train in zones, North/East trains at U.W.I whilst South and further East train at the Ato Boldon stadium on Sundays" , just curious as to what happens with the Tobago players?

Football / Re: TriniInfinite You is the reason Hardest Not on the Squad
« on: January 24, 2006, 10:49:52 AM »
is that our people are quick to "big up" players that have plenty "small goal type skills"

Everytime u make your case about Hardest's ability you mention he does pass "cap and beat like rain". You're not convincing me that he deserves a try out with that. Tell me he could:

- control and pass under INTENSE pressure with very little time allowed on the ball;
- tell meh he could defend and track back and keep the shape against top class midfielders who never stop running
- tell meh he is a team player who will ADD to the current team chemistry
- tell meh he will ADD to a midfield that currently includes Yorke, Birchall, Whitley, Spann ,Theobald, Edwards, and Latapy
- if none of the above - the tell meh he's about 18 years old and can learn these things from the experience of being the 23rd player on the roster.

The ability to Cap and furs and belt man in Trini doh mean shite at WC level!

he can do all dat, double dat what yuh say, hardest is an unselfish player, he will add 2 de mid and bring life 2 we team, truss meh

Not so sure about that TI. I've watched him on quite a few occasions and he would only play when the team attacked, when the team was defending he went missing. Now seeing that we are going to a WORLD CUP, and in a pretty tough group where we'll have to defend as a unit and everyone including strikers will have to work like there life depended on it, I'm not sure, in fact I'm positive that someone who hasn't played regularly at some kind of established level would struggle to fullfil these duties. I'm not saying he dosen't have ability but he needs more than that.

Football / Re: Man-marking Latapy
« on: December 12, 2005, 04:52:48 PM »
One question: Latapy playing in the holding role? What was the coach thinking? I might be wrong, but ah cyar see Russell playing there at that age, and ah don't think he have the physical attibutes that are typical of someone in that role.

Depends on how yuh want that role to be played. if yuh looking for a makalele type role then latapy aint yuh man. but if yuh lookin for someone with intelegence who can take de ball off de defence and dictate de tempo and pace of the game like pirlo does at milan, then i tink latas could do that job with considerable ease and stand out also.

R.I.P/ Mr Best. Way ahead of his time on a football pitch. And for people who condemn him for liver transplant and drinking need to remember that he was treated for one and not the other. You might say it is for him to seek treatment and so forth, but  alcohlism is a disease that needs to be treated full circle and for him it just wasn't.

But Bahrain's coach added: "If he didn't touch the goalkeeper - and I need to check on this when I see it again on television - I think I will ask my federation to protest to FIFA".

If the coach of this team don't know de rules, then they deserve to stay home. FIFA will laugh in their face if they try to protest.

Las night over 150 people gather in de little sweat box in Paddington London to watch de game.De seen was , upstairs de had a projector showing on a piece of glass covered by a piece a white sheet or paper, unevenly cut. So de whole ting uneven, de left side up in de air de right side down on de ground. At about 10 o'clock mi pardner call me from sports cafe and tell me dat de place empty and dey have about 4 screen fuh de self, so me and mi crew, 4 strong head down dey. About 10:35 de fellas we leave dey callin we, " de game en showin boy someting wrong wid de channel". Now mind you cover charge is £5 and nobody en gettin in without dat. about 10:05 phone ring " weh alyuh is we comin down dey, flickin ting still en showin". Apparently, was a pay per view game /channel, and dey en bother to pay for it, so yuh could imagine how man geh on.Me and my crew had 2 tv to we self to watch de game. Man jus lookin to make quick easy money.

Football / Re: Nice article on FIFA website of "the comeback kings"
« on: October 29, 2005, 03:25:35 AM »
I can see both sides of the story and both points of views. How he left in last campaign I remember men on ole site sayin his name should not be mentioned on this board again. But everyone makes mistakes and he has come and given his all recently. I don't know if that is selfish, but T&T benefiting so I fuh dat.

On another note, not that it that important, Ryan Giggs was never legible to play for England's senior team. He was only able to play at school boy level because he attended school in Engalnd.
