This is quite normal for countries holding a major Champs. China is already overbudget and behind for the olympics, Athens had the same problems in 2004 and we had similar concerns with the cricket world cup, but I am pretty sure they will get over it.

Ato, it looks like your prayers (and mine) have been answered. Brown is running the 200m at Hampton games.

Brown to double at Hampton

Tuesday, May 22nd 2007

Trinidad and Tobago track star Darrel Brown is expected to face the starter in both the 100 metres and 200m events at this weekend's Hampton International Games, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo.

The men's 100m will be contested on Saturday, and the 200m on Sunday.

All officials who will be working at the Games, as well as two representatives from each participating club, are asked to attend an important technical meeting, at the Crawford Stadium, tomorrow. Starting time is five p.m.

Yea Ato, i was talking to another man on another borad, who you know very well and he says that once Mo gets healthy he will be fine, but as much as i liked him when he was in his prime, i think i will have to agree and say that greene should hang them boots up. I really don't seeing Mo going sub-10 in one month or running 9.8x to beat Tyson Gay for the win that he is promising.

Gay got a good start this time and really picked it up mid-race, with Athkins close the whole time. But Gay's opener is no joke i think he will beat Asafa during the course of the summer and as far as worlds go it will come down to better rounds management and who could handle the finals pressure. Will also go out on a limb and say that the WR is going to go at some point during the summer, but will love for it to go in the final's at world's.

the question is whether this Gay fella is going to disappoint like Gatlin etc. ?
lot of clean up and time is needed to convince people that anyone is the real deal ...... big game times are always slower ...some feel because the substance abuse is minimised at that time ....of course we find out about these positive results, if you are american, years later dont we ?
so i guess I will wait on the early big games to give my vote....and then some !

I think you could attribute times being slightly slower at major champs, because you have to go through 4 rounds instead of it just being a one-off race and for the most part guys run very close to their PB's in the finals at major champs.

Ato, yuh sayin yuh partner buss? But what going on with burns?, didn't get a chance to see the heats on T.V.
But Gay's run is mighty impressive, it transalates into a 9.90 in basic conditions and 9.84 with a 1.0m/s wind, looks like Asafa go have he work cut out for him and the new man on the block Atkins looking real good he self.

Yea been hearing about this fella for a few months now, looks like he got some real talent. Hopefully his father's past wouldn't be the measuring stick that people judge him by.

Well it looks like he is maintaining his consistency, hopefully his times will be at least 1:45:xx by mid-summer time.

Well Ato i know you talk to dem boys all the time. so i hope you really drill that into their head, because if memory serves me right the only man that had a succesfull 100m career without touching the 200m was Donovan Bailey, he had a Pb of only 20.49. I don't think that they ahve to become 200m specialist like yourself or Tyson gay but a few of them a season wouldn't hurt.

But Ato i hear Franno have them fellas doing a lot of overdistance stuff like 300's so do u think that that will be enuff or is it still imperative that they run the 200m in competition.

P.S, Henry Rolle doing wonders with Kerron stewat but Burns has been stagnant. Really hopes he drops a 10.0x on Sunday with those guys he running agaginst.

Yea man LSU does really overdo it with the set ah meets they does go to, but this injury might be a blessing in disguise for her, as she would have had one month off, when she runs at her regionals.

“I would like to win but I will be coming up against your (Jamaican) guy Asafa (Powell), so it will be tough,” added the 2002 World Junior champion,   ....hmmmmm no doubt asafa is a big one but that statement right there I think is a statement of doubt   he's already given himself two slots  to get to rather than three.....mentall...mental

Mental could be a part of it, but remember he is training with the man and must know that it will be next to impossible to make up the difference between the two of them in just one year. there is a 0.22 time difference between them which is a heck of a lot in a 100m and Asafa has shown that he could live in the 9.8's if he so chooses, while if DB drops 9.8x it would be the race of his life. So i think he is just being honest.  Tyson Gay made a similar staement last summer, when he dropped that 9.84 chasing down AP, so i don't think it is doubt but rather him just being realistic and knowing that one year isn't enough, but if he remains healthy, DB will a problem in Beijing

If he gets a better start he would definitely break that 9.99pb.
BTW does anyone know his 60m PB, because judging by how far he was behind Fasuba who is a 6.4x 60m man he looks like he could run it in the high 6.5x to low6.6x range.

Well i just got word that kelly-ann was injured since penns but they decided to run her anywayz(LSU's points over athletes mentality). So we could see where that abysmal performance came from in the 100m and her getting rolled up in the 4x200m relay.

But if the injury wasn't to serious, and is able to run at her regionals in two weeks, it might be a blessing in disguise, as she would have had 4 weeks w/o competition and would be fresh and ready to go.
