Am I the only one that thinks this Clarke romance with the national team is a bit of a waste of time?

Here is a player already stating that he will not always be available. I respect and appreciate his forthright position with respect to his faith.

I'm neutral on the Ecuador game as it's a friendly outside of the FIFA window and in the grand scheme of things means little other than fringe players to get a look in.

Religion and football has always been interlinked, particularly with Islam and players observing Ramadan and fasting but yet for the most part consistently remained available to play across the world and at the highest levels.

Perhaps the coach trying to highlight to one and all that he using every possible avenue to look for players and giving players the opportunity to play on the national team.

It's good PR.....but that's about it IMO

I not even sure that PR resonates with anyone, anywhere. The best PR as a national team coach is results, everybody will love yuh fuh dat.

The whole Clarke passport fiasco is another administrative faux paux on repeat, every team at pro league and super league should ensure all their players have valid passports as part of registration, before the season. The reason is that any player could be called up for national duty requiring travel. I could understand if every player doesn't have a visa but passports definitely.

My concern is the consistent manner of football administrators getting the federation entangled in legal battles over the inability to meet their contractual obligations at significant cost.

If we cannot afford it, stay out of it, before you sign off on it.

I hope DJW remembered what happened to Camps' assets when the FA couldn't meet its obligations and the court did what it did.

Haven't seen Daniel in a while so I'm not sure what is his current level is at the moment. Gifted footballer when on song though, great spacial intelligence.

As per many a talented footballer in Trinidad, his head wasn't always in the game as it should.

The only rationale I can apply is the fact that the campaign is on its last leg and local support will start to flounder, so it may be best to sell out a 15,000 Ato Bolton than have a half full 27,000 Hasley Crawford Stadium to potentially create a better support atmosphere.

Other than that, logistically it makes little sense.

According to the express, che benny never arrived. His whereabouts are unknown and the club has never heard of him.

Did he travel alone?

Whoa! This is serious.

I googled Fifa calendar and saw that from the 7-26 are official fifa dates. hopefully we could get the first team for this fixture without any hassle from their respective clubs.

You sure about that? There is a window for teams participating in the Gold Cup but that's all I see.

At 16 years clubs will look for specific raw attributes on a trial. Technique, speed and the level of spacial intelligence and tactical awareness, also the ability to take instructions.

They will assess all other aspects of his game like fitness and strength, but most clubs won't expect the finished product at 16 but will ensure they have enough to work with. Sweeden is no player's final destination so those clubs will look for the teenagers and develop them as a feeder club for bigger leagues in europe. If they are impressed with him and will wait till he turns 18 so he can sign a contract they will work with him for about 3 years with a view to sell when he is around 21.

Golden years of sport support based on the responses.

I think in modern times with the advent of cable TV where you can see top quality football on a weekly basis has taken away from the local fan movement.

I just want to know which officiating crew going to be in charge of this game.

Officiating crews cause Costa Rica to score in the first minute of the game?

Did they cause Ruiz to waltz through we defence and score?

They cause Pulis to score twice on we?

Bad breaks are part of the game.  Is not like we score 5 times and had 4 goals disallowed by the officials.

I agree bad breaks are part of the game, and normally calls tend to even out over a run of games but I am seeing a trend skewed in one direction over the last 3 games, that's how i see it. I have no basis to suggest anything sinister, it is what it is. I do hope we can get an experienced officiating group come September, it may mean nothing or it may mean something but I still hope we do.

It's all hypothetical but 2 offside goals and a missed penalty call could could be the difference between 3 and 5 points. The campaign would look much different, especially to the psyche of the squad.

These fellas' agents really have strong links in Central America. Most of our guys getting picked up by clubs in Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras and now Guatemala. Not overly clear on the strength of those domestic leagues but those clubs seem to do better in Concacaf Champions League so I suppose the strength of the league is better.

I also assume the compensation is better as well but we rarely get details about that.

This is the beauty of sport, when one door closes another one opens. If Cato was compliant we probably would have never seen Lewis for any significant game time over the last 2 games. Now i didn't think he was a standout, but for me we know that we have yet another option in that wide position we can call on. He is not a young fella, I think 26 or 27 but if he can keep his form he can be productive over the next 3-4 years.

I have a general mindset that in sport which is full of human activity and prone to error, there tends to be a balancing out of things that go for and against you but I must admit I am struggling with the calls we are getting. We are predominantly overmatched generally and we will need that 'rub of the green' for things to go our way.

Mexico 1-0 : Joevin wrongful offside goal otherwise score 1:1
US 2-0: Nathan Lewis wrongful offside goal otherwise score at the time would have been 1:1
Costa Rica 2-1: Botswain penalty no call, if we score that penalty the score 2:2

Even if I am willing to throw out the USA result that is 2 points taken away from us by poor officiating otherwise we would be on 5 points. I know history will never really take any of this into account but in the present is all kinda chessburn, The players hopefully will stay committed once it's mathematically possible. i think we can adjust the need from 13 to 12 points to secure 4th because of the Panama/Honduras result as we have to play both of them still. 3 wins with 2 home games is not out of reach. Keep Believing!

I must say that that my patience is wearing thin with Hyland.

I echo the same sentiment

Hyland makes mistakes but i not sure if we have any real quality replacement at this time.
excuse me for interjecting but i get the feeling that many of you don't realize the magnificent contributions of khaleem hyland on this team. and so what if he loses the ball now and then most CM do lose possession from time to time that is normal in the game of football, they also make bad passes and foolish tackles that position is not a pretty one.

I have noticed quite often how hyland's detractors miss the positive contribution but highlight the mistakes. .No one talks about the plays that he breaks up the the midfield, his movement off the ball his professional fouls (something we didn't do prior to hyland which lead to a lot of break away goals) his ability to make dangerous attacking passes that lead to quite a few goals in the lead up to the hex.

people seem to forget that we have the least amount of quality of any team in the hex and a player such as hyland may struggle on this team but would probably flourish on a better team alongside better players. Ok he made a blunder that lead to the first goal but no one saw how Cyrus was ball watching instead of picking an unmarked player, maybe if other players were in tuned with the rest of the team they would have done the smart thing and took down nagbe and take a card for the team rather than allowing him to make the cross that lead to the goal.

On the contrary I am an advocate for Hyland, he is our only genuine two way player and leader but he has his deficiencies. If you look at it broader he is more integral to the overall team than any other player in my opinion and in most cases how he plays directly affects our results positive and negative. It's a reason why we are up and down in terms of results.

I am not sure of his club situation at Westerloo as they were relegated and he may be out of contract.

« on: June 12, 2017, 10:26:47 AM »
I was thinking

6 points from the two home games - Honduras and USA

We have to target that away game in Panama City for 3 points

Hopeful for a point from either tomorrow night in San Jose or away to Mexico.

Our backs against the wall but that's when we tend to be at our best. To your point if we get anything tomorrow that will keep the squad believing. If we come out with nothing then I think mentally players will start to switch off.

« on: June 12, 2017, 08:11:31 AM »
Mods can feel free to merge to the appropriate thread if necessary

We have 3 points.

Looking at the remaining 5 games, 2 home and 3 away starting tomorrow. I think the coaching staff can realistically target 10 points over the next 5 games.

2 home games must win - 6 points
3 away games - 1 Win 1 Draw 1 Loss - 4 points

Will it be enough to get us into a play off position? In 2006, 13 points got us into the play off but that group included a Panama team that only got 2 points over the 10 games. Teams are much closer matched up this time around.

I think we had 4 players on cards as well so that may have played a part in the subs.

I wouldn't give Lewis too much stick, he had decent work rate and he has some speed and skill but the composure and decision making not there yet which is the same assessment as a Cato.

not there yet ?? he is 27 in 1 month ..g come on man

27 but only making his first WCQ appearance. Consider Akhenanton Edwards is 38 and showed more condition and composure, Lewis still has time.
