We still not out of it,there's a slim chance for 4th.We looked good and had we got the goal by KJ,and had Nathan Lewis not been ruled off side, who knows,as I would say,we matched the mighty USA and that was pleasing, but we didn't get the result we wanted. When your chances come you must take it,they don't come every minute,we look soft in front of goal.Edwards went for goal, when the best option was a cross to Lewis or Molino, that was a shocker, someone is not smiling on us.

Boy you spot on with that analysis. We don't appear to be outdone by these teams, CR, MEX and US...the only real thumping we got in this campaign was from Honduras. Other than that Honduras game, we weren't outclassed at all. Goals win matches and that's the bottom line.

Carlos know he effed up with that shot instead of passing the ball... everyone knew it. What a shame. Carlos did play pretty well last night though. Hyland made some mistakes and that first goal was his fault. I like Nathan, he has a lot of potential, but he gets outmanned...Molino tried his best last night.

George was not ready for pulisic it seemed. He have the wonder boy too much space.

Costa Rica gonna be a real scrap, with the odds against us. This is where our maturity and professionalism gonna come into play. They drew against Panama last night, which stacks up even more against us.

I hope to see the boys regroup and continue to believe that they can get result. They can!

It's the only area I will give the technical staff some stick. Pulisic key attribute is speed and Kevan George had a man marking job shadowing him most of the game but I would have gone for Gonsalves or even Paul as they have a bit more speed to stay with Pulisic but George is favoured given he is a better passer and with 3 CBs you have the cover for him running behind, still got away from us.

I think we had 4 players on cards as well so that may have played a part in the subs.

Joevin was on short rest as well. Once the second goal was scored it looked like we conceded the game as it would have been too much to come back from that at altitude. We have no depth in the squad, the subs are a testament

I wouldn't give Lewis too much stick, he had decent work rate and he has some speed and skill but the composure and decision making not there yet which is the same assessment as a Cato.

Costa Rica was not very impressive vs Panama at home. They will try to come at us as well but we will get our chances. The game is about scoring goals, I always compare our successful WCQ against all others before and after including this, and note the differences. in 2005 we had a player that scored 12 goals in that run. I counted 6 chances/half chances last night for T&T away from home. I not sure if we can ask for more than that at this level but something has to go in by luck or skill to give us a fighting chance.

I must admit I like the 3-5-2 formation but it will take time to settle, for the most part we were able to keep the US in front of us as 3 CBs can cover each other in 1 on 1 situations There were at least 4 times the first CB got beaten but the covering defender was able to sweep and clear the danger. If we only had 2 CBs there would be too much space with no cover. It's only when we made our own mistakes or got caught up the field we lost our shape and got punished.

Half time, it could be worse but the tactics are glaring. US letting us play ourselves out of gas till around the 70th, then they will press and try to blitz.

Really hope we could hold it together. I think we are finally getting the formation that works best for us. Plus to DL on that.

I know DJW and I can assure you the players will get paid, there should be no insecurities from the T&T players.

Their pay might be late sometimes, but its inevitable.

WOW!  :o

The players all signed documents 2 weeks ago about getting funds release for payment, this is why I can't understand the beef. Furthermore, the TTFA paid over $200,000 USD just for that training camp in Denver.

It's reasonable to suggest that previously the FA has been less than timely with payments. Even if in earnest the payments will come, if it is past due the players are right to grumble. The FA needs to transform itself in the eyes of the team and re-build trust.

The camp is a good start as far as preparation, other benefits like medicals and health checks are also positive but whatever is promised needs to be delivered on time, in fact do it early if you can. That will start to build trust between players and administrators.

I go take a beating for what I'm about to say...but I don't think national players should get paid it represent the country. It's a privilege. Win something...as in a tournament, get ah lil raise, house and land...Other than that...it's a privilege and it allows other opportunities to come all yuh way. Just my humble opinion.

Yes!!!

If you can't agree to play without monetary incentive then don't represent and play club ball. We have this nonstop self destructive cycle around fees. It would be better they instead used the money to be sure the best insurance policies and treatment while on duty.
Playing for the NT is not a job...that's with the club.
Put all the fees money to reduce chance of injury and recovery. Too bad we don't have a union to negotiate what might be acceptable to the players in that kind of scenario.

Staff in admin that is a job. No piece of any prize should go there either.

Coaches different as that is a job open to non-nationals and pay could be negotiated to be tied to results.

It is a complete distraction and overall has brought us absolutely nothing positive as far as results or development.

There is a difference to your points above and the fact that a payment was promised and not delivered.

I agree that we contribute to our problems just as much as any on field opponent

this is professional and Cato needs to understand the importance of this game. It's like a job. You can't being your family on the job. this is cato career.  :banginghead:

When you compare Hyland who got married and postpone his honeymoon to join the team.

DL can't encourage that within the team when others making sacrifices

The same criticism wrt to the team's preparation is only underscored by supposedly pro players doing things like this, our squad is not deep and we need all hands on deck. I really at a loss on this one.

Dutch-based winger Levi Garcia was not considered for selection due to a hamstring injury while US-based player Cordell Cato was released  due to disciplinary reasons.
Wired868 understands that Cato allegedly showed up at the team’s residential camp with his wife Jonelle Warrick and child, despite being advised against it. The speedy winger then asked for them to spend the night with him and, failing that, for him to be allowed to spend the night at a hotel with the pair and report for training in the morning.

Lawrence dropped him instead.

Disciplinary reasons, what's the back story on this one?

If we can't assemble our full strength team far enough in advance then friendlies are a kind of moot point in my opinion. Does it put us at a disadvantage? Yes. Other teams with bigger talent pools can have better offerings and thus be better prepared. We literally have no more than 15-18 1st team players with half playing in North America which is in active season during this time

With 1/4 of T&T's population, how does Iceland do it?

How does Jamaica manage to do it year after year?  And they not even in WCQ and have way more players playing in MLS than we do

Confused by your questions, I am talking about arranging of friendlies outside of FIFA windows with full strength teams.

Iceland's top players who would form part of the core of their national team plays within the normal european football calendar season so those players will be available to play friendlies and WCQs which ever is on their schedule. If they use players from their domestic league which is currently underway, then its all within their authority to extract those players like US is doing with its MLS players to play international games.

Jamaica's friendlies are within the FIFA window so they can  call up a full strength team to play friendlies which make sense.

Most teams participating in friendlies 'this week' which is outside of the FIFA window 'next week' are made of players whose domestic season is over, unless they involved in UCL final this Saturday.

So is only NOW we cyah get friendlies?  FIFA window or not?

Honduras played El Salvador last week

Mexico played Croatia last week while their Liga MX was still going

Look who they playin.  Reputable teams.....

You think Mexico playing Boulder FC as prep for any world cup qualifier?

Come nah man

Again, my point is, it matters little about friendlies if our first team is not playing in those games.

I never made a point about the quality of the teams we do happen to get friendlies against. As far as i am concerned, we had no friendlies for the players that matter come June 8 and 13.

WC Qualifying is the key, more than 70% of the players who play in friendlies don't feature on WCQ matchday. All FIFA match windows are allocated to the actual WCQ schedule so there is literally no room when you actually get your first team together. You have to play 2 games in 8 days and that includes training, travel and rest.

We just have to deal with what we have and prepare as best we can.

Geoff Cameron, Fabian Johnson and John Brooks is solid defenders, Cameron will man mark Kenwyne and knowns him very well from Stoke City.

Nagbe, Pulisic, Wood and Altidore have lots of pace.

Bradley and Beasley little old, so they might be easy to contain.

Yedlin is fast but his final play is poor.

Clint Dempsey is very good, but he can be temperamental, we could bait him so he can be caution early in the game.

Tim Howard is still very good.

We have a good fight in our hands.

T&T must not overplay the ball especially in defence.

USA don't know much about Nathan Lewis, Jomal Williams, Hashim Arcia, Akeem Roach and Jamille Boatswain, so they can be of some use.

except for Jamal Williams   nothing much to fear   with the rest

I find Lewis have something about him, raw but has dribbling ability at speed, just need better decision making on the final pass.

Hearing on the radio this morning that MLS released all the US players called up for national team almost 2 weeks ahead of the WCQ on June 8. Our 5 MLS players have not yet been released. The TTFA has written to MLS for equal treatment for our players to be released.

The official release date for players is June 3rd as per normal FIFA rules.

Art of War in full effect.

I see a two of our international players in Trinidad...congratulations to Hyland...he got married this weekend in Trinidad...joevin in Trinidad as well...was on a boat ride today...I'm not joking...idk about Molino tho...he didn't line up for MU...Sheldon in Colorado already...didn't see skipper on the roster for his game yesterday either!

Both Hyland and Bateau with the team in Colorado now. Joevin wasn't in trini, but he was on a boat ride somewhere in the states, his Caribbean club mates were with him. Kenwyne get his usual corbeaux sweat yesterday. Molino in Minnesota playing Xbox as usual, he was reported sick over the weekend, dunno his status currently.

So what's the tactical plan for Michael Bradley? He is pretty much the engine room of the USMNT, key on both sides of the ball for them.

I figure if we could shut him down tactically we will be in a good place come June 8th.

Thoughts???

Molino's stock is fairly good within MLS ranks, meaning he will find a spot on almost any MLS roster given the talent level double digit goals and assists per season, even more so if he gets a green card which i hope he is pursuing so he no longer will claim an international roster spot. It's pretty much up to him if he wants to stay within that overall comfort zone or push for Europe.

Needs to leave the mls
why ? when did he sign that contract ? when is he signing the next, with whom ?

Read somewhere that his contract runs till the end of the season so it will be an easy pick up for a club in the 2018 January transfer window.

Football / Re: Kevin Molino Thread.

Molino’s production far outweighed his salary. At $121,400 guaranteed, Molino was the 13th-highest paid player on the team, behind players like rookie Richie Laryea, right back Kevin Alston and center backs Seb Hines and Jose Aja.

Well now he making more than three times as much, with a base salary of $350,004.00 and total guaranteed compensation of $402,504.00

When you see the jump  you can almost justify the move to Minnesota, Orlando would have never given him that.

But they robbing Joevin, lawd $90,000.00 base and $96,166.67 total. Once he keeps his form good he won't be playing in Seattle next year at that compensation.

The Cyrus issue is an interesting one. My assumption is that he is looking for a move abroad so he is keeping his free agency status so clubs abroad can scoop him up without a transfer fee. To be fair he has looked competent at centre back.

Now one could argue that W Connection looked after him for years, even after multiple unsuccessful attempts abroad they kept taking him back and think they feel that they should be able to cash in on a transfer fee if he does get something abroad.

All pro league players are inactive so even though he is 'unattached' it doesn't make his activity level different to any other local player. I would want to hear Dennis Lawrence on this.

Was W Conn doing Cyrus a "favour"? Or, was he on loan? He was on loan.

Iz you Palos should charge with spinning, instead of unfairly ... :P ... tarnishing me with that brush.
