Is Madrid's 10 point lead unassailable? According to La Liga history it is... so those Barca fans who want to concede, please feel free to do so here...

Also, not only did that phenomenal goal by Cr7 bring up his hattrick, but it also brought Madrid's tally in all competitions to 4000... What a way to etch your name into Madrid history... Well deserved Cristiano...

Ok, with 1 madrid win in 9 el clasicos over the last 14 months (compared to Barca's 5 and 3 draws), and on behalf of all madridistas on this site, I officially concede and acknowledge Barca's dominance over us.

Our strategy for the rest of the season will be (a) hope for a 2-0 loss (or better) in the Copa return leg, (b) win every game in la liga except the away game to Barca and (c) hope not to bounce up in th champions league.

Sincerely

Raul

Ah wonder boy ... will this hasten Neymar's move to Europe?

I hope so, and I hope since Barca beat up his ego, he might choose Madrid instead...  ;)

...was thinking earlier of starting a "FIFA Club World Cup" thread, but yuh kinda beat meh to it....anybody see dem goals Santos scored yesterday?  all three of them was some top class goals!!

That tournament is sh*t.  They should leave the big dogs out, and let the smaller feds showcase their talent to the big team scouts.  Look how David gonna miss out on the rest of the season, and possibly Euro '12 for a trophy that the club probably doesn't care about.

I guess it's all part of the price to be paid.  Football, to those that "own" it and run it, is a product to be packaged, marketed and sold, to every one willing to buy it in every corner of the globe so they pushin' it every chance and means they can and those of us that are buying it can't seem to get enough of it.  While I agree that Silva getting injured in a tournament that isn't as important as the one you mentioned is not good for the team, (ah cyah speak fuh d club to say how much they do or don't care for said trophy) the football displayed by both top teams can't hurt the game any.  Unfortunately, the powers-that-be, see too much profits in this tournament than to exclude the giants

Guess I missed when David Silva left ManC for Barca...    ;D

Real Madrid didn't show up... That Benzema goal was EXTREMELY lucky since they got it on the 3rd try - Di Maria should have squared it straight to him on the first attempt... As for CR7, he got off the first backheel and suddenly everything he tried was a fancy pass that didn't work.. He should have put it away and made the game 2-0 when he had the chance... But I can't say he's a choker since he was the star of the Copa del Rey final... He was just very absent this time...

As was expected, Iniesta and Xavi were simply a cut above the rest... Credit to the referee too since this meeting was much less hostile than the other 6 for the year.

Allyuh make sure and train Michael Ragoonath to differentiate between a ball in play and a ball outside of play... a la the injustice he handed out to Joaquin and the rest of La Furia Roja in the 2002 World Cup...

I must have missed it, my slovak is a bit rusty..............but where does it mention Chelsea's interest  ???

Interest is mainly from three countries, in addition to the English Premier League is reported to the Russian clubs, teams from the Netherlands and the game are the Poles.

English Premier League + Russia = Chelsea   :)

Excellent article! I'd like to add that Messi is a 'club' great, and a 'one-club' great at that. Don't get me wrong, I think the man is a genius, but I'd really like him to leave Barca one day and rip up the EPL (just like CRonaldo did in the EPL and La Liga, and countless other greats have done in more than one league or with more than one club). Furthermore, until he lifts some silverware with Argentina, he will always be a 'pechofrio' in my book.

Just some stats... this is Barca's worst start under Pep after 13 rounds -> 2008/09 (32 points), 2009/10 (33 points), 2010/11 (34 points) and 2011/12 (28 points). On the flip side, Real Madrid's +36 Goal Difference is the best they had in their history, and the best La Liga has seen in the last 81 years -> 1930/31 (Athletic Bilbao +37).

Jamaicans never ever feel the need to "suck up" to any caribbean team when it comes to sports.

I feel like you're insulting me there brother. No need to. Respect is respect and (even though Jamaicans and Bajans may not have earned respect from Guyanese), the Trinidadians have earned our respect. Their players always compete (even when it seems like their administrators let them down) and we respect the contribution they have made to helping us develop our game, giving us a coach our players a league. More of our homegrown players play in Trinidad than anywhere else in the world. I'm sure more Jamaicans play/have played in Trinidad than Trinidadians have played in Jamaica.

As Capleton said "who do you think you are, we living in a small world..."

TT v GT is good for the game. We will war today and tomorrow, if Guyana wins, the country will celebrate like crazy but if Trinidad wins Guyanese will  accept it and say they were beaten by a superior team. No ego involved. We have nothing to lose.

Respect and blessings!
GB

TT v GT? Is Guatemala or Guyana (GY) we playing?  ;D

« on: November 08, 2011, 07:51:46 PM »

The event was attended by former Real Madrid great Emilio Butragueno, Spanish ambassador to T&T, Joaquin de Arisregui Laborde, Minister of Sport Anil Roberts and Atlantic LNG head of sustainability and corporate communications Caroline Sirju-Ramnarine.

It's a pity the organizers didn't see it fit to have a Gala Dinner of some sort with El Buitre as the guest of honour. I wouldn't have minded paying for a couple tickets to attend such an event, getting a chance to meet Butragueno, and contributing something to the academy in the process.

I mean, it's not everyday that the 1980's equivalent of David Villa comes to Trinidad.... I am sure he would have attracted a good turnout...

Real Madrid 7- Osasuna 1

Real like they mashing ants.
The next super classico will be the games of the year.

I think that will depend on if Jose doesn't decide to close up shop against Barca. The last time he decided to open it up dey get 5. It would be nice to see him trust that his talent good enough to take on Barca man for man.

I think JM found the right formula considering the 7 clasicos over the last 12 months. Compare the 5-nil blowout in the 1st clasico (first league meeting last season) to the 5-4 aggregate Dive-alona win in the last two clasicos (this season's Supercup). Anyhow, once both teams remain injury free, I am sure we in for some action...

Btw, with the victory today, cr7 is the first to score 4 hattricks in the first 11 games of any La Liga season.

So Messi is a mortal after all.
Iniesta with one big swan dive.  Good for allyuh.

Same thing Messi did earlier in the season... When facing a draw, I guess the tactic is a 90th minute dive... Still very early in the season but it's good to see a team holding Dive-alona scoreless in Noucamp Aquatic Centre...
