I don't care if we had 1% possession or if El Tri hit the post 100 times, I real proud of dem fellas for holding off Mexico in Mexico... You could imagine the energy in that dressing room afterwards?

Good to see our players progressing...next step J league and hopefully soon we'll get to the A-league

J League better than d A League by a good bit, not so?

If them men playing in Vietnam, I was not calling them up. Sorry

I think MEP was sarcastically implying to move up the alphabet from V to J then to A...

Given today's draw, there won't be any Hex for T&T this world cup

We should emerge as winners in our group against Guyana, Barbados and Bermuda (although as much as our football sucks right now, this is not a sure thing by any means).

But if we win that group, we'll then have to play Mexico and Costa Rica in the 3rd round and there's very little chance of us beating either team.  Given that only the top 2 teams move forward to the Hex...bye bye T&T.

We simply not good enough.

Agreed. Let us think about Russia 2018 instead.

I think this is too obvious! Hala Madrid!

So Casillas basically has all the silverware possible except the Confederations Cup... let's say player of the decade was measured from 2002 to 2011... he still won't get it?

I wonder if the tables were turned, if a man like Messi would wear an 'Animo Ramos' jersey?

What a display of class and maturity... Proud day to be a Real fan!

102
So we still think Casillas doesn't deserve it..?

103
Thanks. That makes sense.

Anybody ever see that happen?

Forumites,

Ah having a debate with a partner of mine, and the argument is that if play is stopped for a substitution, and the player walking off receives a second yellow (let's say for wasting time by passing an armband, etc), that the substitution does not continue, and the team plays a man short.

I reading my 2006 lawbook (page 17 and 19) but I not seeing anything definite.

Any of the forumites have the answer? And an example of a match where it happened?

I won't tell allyuh which is my argument yet...

Thanks...

Listening to the FOX Sports commentary yesterday during the Sunderland game, both latino commentators discussed how dangerous the T&T team would be with both Jones and Zamora in form. I agreed with them, and only dreamt of what could have been...

However, I feel that's it for Zamora at age 28 - he'll be 33 in 2014. So unless we plan to win the 2011 Gold Cup, he can 'hang up' his national boots from now...

107
Iker Casillas deserves it.

Except for Ollie Kahn in 2002, no other keeper has come close to World Player of the Year. Keepers will traditionally be shunned from this list (due to the flair > fanaticism > economics associated with football). And since it seems that Player of the Year is a pre-requisite for player of the decade, then they had no choice to give it to the most recent player who has won it twice - Ronaldinho.

If consistency and growth over the decade was a factor (which it should be), then check Casillas' record:

La Liga: 2000–01, 2002–03, 2006–07, 2007–08
Spanish Super Cup: 2001, 2003, 2008.
UEFA Champions League: 1999–00, 2001–02
UEFA Super Cup: 2002
Intercontinental Cup: 2002
UEFA European Championship: 2008

Now Spain & Madrid captain.
Add World Cup 2010.

For those of you who speak Spanish you will appreciate the humour in this one - former Madrid player and coach - Vincente del Bosque.

We in the Caribbean don't even deserve 0.1 spot much less 0.5, and in a similar argument, Concacaf doesn't deserve 4. The existing 3.5 is fair - if we get extra, who will you cut?

« on: September 30, 2009, 12:27:27 PM »
watch, this is my starting 11. i know we going to lose to paraguay but i want these players to get a taste of the world cup even if it's in a losing effort.

                                         fullerton (cap't)

gonzales          williams          bateau(optimus prime partner in crime)     david

thompson         molino            de silva                   joseph

                         manswell                   grosvenor

subs

rochford for de silva just in case
clarence for grosvenor just in case
and the other goalkeeper just in case

everybody gets ah run...........

World Cup is to win... I rather the history books say Paraguay win 1-0 than 10-0... put yuh best foot forward at ALL times... these youths have a decade of football left, and not playing should actually make them more hungry to improve their performance...

Jason Scotland went Germany but never self get a corbeaux... then he start to rip up...

I dunno if my Maths wrong, but mathematically we could pip one of the four best 3rd places...

If in group C - Germany beats Cameroon (by a decent margin - Cameroon finishes third on 3 points in third but with bad GD) AND USA beat Korea (to keep Korea on 1pt)

AND in Group D - Uzbekistan and England draw (keeping both of them on 1 point for 3rd and 4th place in that group)

AND in our Group A - Italy beats Egypt AND TnT beats Paraguay (but the net result of the two matches is that TnT must end up with a better GD than Egypt).

Bottom line - go all out to beat Paraguay...

Group B if Tahiti and Nigeria draw could put both out on 1 point each, but this not going to happen.

Group E & F playing right now, so I can't call it, but GD could work here too.

Performance = f(Natural Talent, Sustained Investment)

If I coulda have 22 children (for different mothers) and house them, clothe them, feed them and provide a coach & facilities for 20 years, then I sure Trinidad would win the World Cup.

It have nothing to do with size and probability, it is about taking the raw talent (which we have) and having a sustained & structured investment (which we can do, but don't).

Roderick Anthony was buying some time in 2007 working for Robbie's Engineering on the Point Lisas Estate as a labourer. Robbie's Engineering actually supplied labour to other companies and one of his last stints was working at Shell Trinidad - he actually captained a team for Shell in a inter-company football competition that year, taking them to 4th Place.

While at Shell, I knew he was applying to a foreign university for a partial scholarship. Haven't heard of him since then though.
