Still only 14 years old and running a 11.13. Although the wind +2.7.. 11.13 is a great time for a 14 year old.

Slight correction ...Adel turned 13 this January . This is his first year as an under 15 runner. ..he eh 14 yet ! He also did that time in pain ...he begged his coach to run and slowed in the end. You should have seen him struggle to walk up the stadium steps after the race...yet he said he was fine. If you know this boy ...he would say nothing wrong even if he was on crutches . The coach said he would take him out the 200 final ...and I see that he did today.
He could have gone faster but I understand why ... I have not seen a more focused competitor maybe since Dwight Yorke maybe .. Adel wants to go to the 201 olympics ...oh did I mention that he did the SEA ( common entrance ) exam this year ...he is still in primary school.

8 Cummings, Ayoka              Neon Trackers            58.78

I really feel I need to highlight this performance by Dominique williams ...I was there to see it and could not believe it ...this 18 year old who has never run close to this before just came from nowhere ...just like La londe gordon did at the national trials before the olympics ..and blew away the field. It was impressive as she had never beaten Modeste and Massiah before. they ran their usual times so it was not a questionable times race as we have had in the past.
If the stacy Ann smith who came second is the one who was born in the USA, came 4th at world juniors in 2010 and won gold for the USA in the 4x400 relay at the same world juniors but now represents Jamaica then  beating her was some achievement.. I am wanting to see what Williams does next time out .

Crawford ran 10.06 in Montreal. Hiroshima, where that 10.01 and 10.03 were run, is one of maybe the 15 fastest tracks in the world, and Tokyo is on that list as well, with Athens, Lausanne, Beijing and others.

This kid's drive phase and relaxation hint that he can run under ten, and soon - as in next week. In fact, as the season starts many pros are headed his way to compete, and if he can overcome the nerves, he can be the first Asian to break ten.

Japan's NR is 10.00

You are correct in saying this means NOTHING as a senior since the odds say fastest 17 year old usually = senior underachiever.

Ato have you taken a close look at our 13 year old phenom Adel Colthrust ? I know the fastest junior = fastest underachiever in later years holds  according to the stats and many have dropped off ...but Usain is a good example of one come good and I was wondering if you have seen this youngster at all. I am no expert in athletics, football being my main sporting interest, so I would appreciate what you and others might have to say on this child...( cause he still is )
You are doing a tremendous job for athletics with inside athletics...wish we had that sort of promo for our football where most of the news is negative ...ah well .
in jamaica at the CUC games I understand that Adel created quite a stir ...similar to when darrel Brown beat Bolt in the 100 while juniors ...I hate using the Darrel example because I find it very difficult to accept that he is done .....but i think as a world force he is ....big shame for T&T with such a small gene pool .. Well I am in the corner of this youngster ...his goal is to beat usain Bolt's world record ...not just Usain bolt and he is focussed as an athlete ...I cant even get my son of similar age to focus on anything !! ha ha ..

Jai John we talk de same language...but to whom?  The only people to bring about change in Trinidad Football is people like us. Back in the day the people formed their own Federation.

Coache, you are welcome to come over to Central F.C. Pays not good, but then you appear to be more motivated by development. At least we're trying to bring changes, so with your help, perhaps we'll succeed?
You might have a point here ...this is exactly what Arthur Suite did ...he did not try to change the TTFA he started change with one club ...ASL ...he invested his money and then started a new league giving good football and bringing back the crowds ....he brought teams like corinthians(world champions today, Flamenco...arsenal...man united...etc...
But de fight down I referred to in another post is what killed him ....the TTFA got the servicemen banned so no Police, Army etc. in the league and that killed it ...also it was deemed a rebel league so foreign clubs did not want to be associated with it for fear of being banned .... which, by the way is exactly what will happen to your club if you choose to go this route ..

Jai John we talk de same language...but to whom?  The only people to bring about change in Trinidad Football is people like us. Back in the day the people formed their own Federation.

..." but to whom ? " That is exactly why I gave up on  any serious consideration to a youth development plan years ago. You can sing til the cows come home its same thing ...over and over again ...take the remnants of the last losing team and make them the foundation for your next team...
development ?? nah ... we have no time for that . We would not look at  our cricket team ...there was a time when our football team was way ahead of our cricket team ...not so now ! athletics is on the way up as well ...youth development plan, only works for other sports not football it would seem.

Yes folks would form a group of folks interested in football in the past ( like arthur Suite for example) but with the kind of problems facing the present executive and the hangers on who are likely to resist  any development plan , it would be a tall order... just like the fight down Suite encountered back then.

It is a shame though, for those of us who can see the talent coming from such a relatively small pool going to waste year after year.

If however there were to be formed such a group to change football in this country ...not an exchange but change... I would be willing to offer my two cents ..

I recently found out QRC is headed to England and Wales at $30,000 a player ( they scheduled this in the peak travelling season ???) ......what a waste ....trip to venezuela, to play in a youth tournament staying in the best hotel and even getting in a few coaching sessions would cost much less ...and the players can get so much more.

In venezuela ...7 mins away and nearer to Trinidad than Tobago is, there are coaches from Italy, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina etc. facilitated by the associations of those communities .
Clubs from South america and Europe also go there for youth tournaments on an annual basis ...( like Ac milan, deportivo la coruna, etc. we eh find out dat yet ...with all dem scouts we have !
I remember asking Carlos valderrama about Colombia and he asked me about Trinidad and Tobago's team ...he felt we had a good chance of qualifying ..this was before we actually did in 2006. Seems others can see what we have while those in authority are so blind they will not see!

Football / the way forward- the development method
« on: April 16, 2013, 08:15:57 PM »
Just wondering why we continually try to reinvent or discover the wheel .........
we keep recycling the same coaches year after year as if, by some process unknown to the logical mind, we would discover the holy Grail.

Every year we dance to the same beat of some battle weary drums ...Bring Corneal ...fire Corneal ...bring Shabazz...fire shabazz...try La forest...span...de leon ...fire them all !! ..bring back shabazz...and the beat goes on .........

The football development method has been tried and tested in many countries ...Argentina ruled the roost in youth football for many years but in recent times Spain has shot ahead at all levels of the game. The Barcelona team  has perfected the system that others are trying to follow ...it is tantamount to getting in on  the " Usain Bolt " training method. Why have we not tried that ....we have spent millions on perfecting the local coach, why not invest on a patented system and get our coaches au courant with " new tech " ?

...even Boca juniors have gotten in on the action ...why are we still trying to play catch up when we could go to the head of the class ?

"...FC Barcelona and CA Boca Juniors have reached an agreement to collaborate in the development of young footballers. The agreement will be officially presented on Monday in the pressroom at the Bombonera in Buenos Aires, an event that will be attended by Daniel Angelici, president of CA Boca Juniors; Jordi Mestre, director responsible for youth football at FC Barcelona; and Jorge Raffo, general coordinator of youth football at CA Boca Juniors.

This is a standard-setting strategic alliance that will bind both clubs in their work to coach young footballers, through which FC Barcelona will transfer its  'La Candela' coaching project to CA Boca Juniors.. In return, FC Barcelona gets first choice regarding the players that represented the club in Argentina and that from now on shall be wearing the shirt of CA Boca Juniors. The same right will relate to other young players emerging from the club's youth system.

CA Boca Juniors will be able to count on the FC Barcelona structure and human resources for the instruction of its  own coaches, the aim being to transmit all of its philosophy and methods regarding the development of youth footballers...."     WWW.FCBARCELONA.CAT03/02/2012

I reckon it was very near the 2.0 mark or slightly above it.
But that is still pure speculation.
I hope we can get the official times for that race including wind speed etc from an official source.

No wind reading for the race ...wind gauge probably blown down like de potted plants they had to keep righting every now and then. It we want a real performance it was machel cedenio ...he looking good and his time was excellent over the 400 ...he is ready to reach a 400 final anywhere now ...

klinsmann coach 25 games in less than 2 years and still spoken of as a 'new' coach. I really ent no Shabbaz fan, but arguably he is one of the best local coaches in T'dad and I believe we have to a least give the man (and whatever his philosophy is) a chance.
You do know that he has been around for awhile dont you ? ... coaching colleges teams....womens national teams...club teams ...Guyana ....national senior teams ...junior teams ...womens club teams .... Still want to see more ?

We not ready ..not ready ...not ready !!
...been awhile since I have seen a T&T team play ...Geezanages ! It was like looking at ducks walk. No one seemed comfortable with the ball at their feet ! If you cant even master that simple task then you are not ready .
I really cant see how peeps could say that just add 5 players to this team and we good ! I could not believe Chris Birchall and others still cant pass the ball to one of their players ...even under no pressure!
I dont even think Guardiola can help us to plan a strategy if players cant even handle the basics.

we have to give up on this bunch of recycled players who are stuck in the past of booming to Glen and or jones with three defenders like shirts on their backs !
how many times have we recycled these players ? drop glen...bring back  Glen ...drop jones ..bring back jones ....bring Birchall ..drop Birchall .... bring back theobald ..drop theobald ...when will it end ?

What we need is a development plan with proven developmental coaches, to bring on our young promising players to the level needed to play international football ... in other words we will be ready only when
" de atmosphere have vibes and yuh juss kyah break it up  !"
how many times do we see bad passes at the international level ? ...I am not talking about passes which are intercepted , I am talking about a player receving a pass from an opponent as part of the game .

No sar ! it will be awhile before dey could ketch me again ....not with dese same recycled players ..
We not only not ready but we not ready to be ready !

Football / Re: W Connection v Guadalajara Thread (29-Aug-2012).
« on: August 28, 2012, 09:16:18 PM »
In T&T football is played in the wet season because of cricket, which is played in the dry season. Our players are well adapted to playing on heavy fields. Our players are physically strong when compared to the central americans who use physically  smaller players with quick feet. Instead of ensuring the ground is heavy we prepare nice fast surfaces which work against us ...

Jai, the rules for rainy/dry season no longer holds in TT. Did they not play a T20 in the Oval this Sat? And now football overlaps into cricket season. The pro-league did follow a Euro. schedule last season.
The part about our players physically stronger than Central Americans don't hold. Have you see the size of our current crop of players.

You may wish to reflect on whether you are not basing your comment on exception rather than then rule ...I made a generalization based on the norm ..... yes T&T played a T20 game last weekend but that is not the norm .......we play football in the rainy season and  our players have traditionally dwarfed those from central america .... I hardly think you wish to dispute that...the point here is that we dont play to our strengths while others do.
You know that Bolivia has victories vs the top teams in S/America ...all the world cup winners have struggled and will forever struggle vs Bolivia at home because you will play them in La paz where breathing among other things is difficult. There was even an attempt once to ban that venue but Bolivia protested and won out. We play football sometimes on grounds with sun blazing ...even Yorke complained about the heat when he returned to play for T&T ...not because he from Tobago he go bounce een from england and fit een ! yet we play SC qualifiers in the cool of the night with the pitch ready made for touch football ...the style of the latinos ... dais all

Congrats to Barca on the 2012/13 La Liga title!

:rotfl: Good one. Seriously though Barca defense look real shakey yesterday, they were fortunate to get the win. I could see them
dropping points this campaign

Your theory might get Messed up this year ! It matters little that de defense shakey ...Iniesta, messi Xavi are the best in the world and they are all on the same side . remember barca played most of last season without Villa, a long time without Pique, Alexi  and Puyol and Messi had to carry the load. This year I am predicting 100 goals for Messi in all competions and barcelona to break all goalscoring records

Football / Re: W Connection v Guadalajara Thread (29-Aug-2012).

Brazil realised long ago that playing at altitude required that you go in about a month before to acclamatize yourself to the altitude or you go in and play on the same day ...... with most of their top players playing in Europe and not at altitude this is the practice . Argentina also does the same thing ... I believe WC may have overlooked this detail in their preparations .

Mexico and the USA make good use of their high altitude venues when facing opposition not familiar with these conditions. It is not only about breathing problems but the air ball gives many problems to players especially goalkeepers. For outfield players the ball actually gets there a split second before you would normally expect it to ...you have to experience it to know how to make the adjustment .... It is very difficult for caribbean teams unfamiliar with these conditions to do well .. we can expect good things but we can also realise the odds are against us .
I am of the view that home and away ties give us an opportunity to even things off but we dont use our advantage.

I wait in hope that all i have just said about the adjustment dont get repeated after the game ...I tired ah de same ting ...over an over !

BS - Vindicate doh make it right.

Just to make it fair, a week from now after Alleyne-Forte rests up, I bet Cedenio will beat the pants off of Alleyne-Forte in an open 400m, he did so in the Nat'l Champs and should have taken his rightful place in the relay.

Juss kyah please some folks nah ! we get a bronze which is a major achievement taking into account our main 400 metres hope got injured and did not run, what allyuh wanted ..Ah bigger bronze  If we did put in Cedenio ? T&T really punched way above their weight on this one ..the guys really came through yet some of us trying to minimise the effort ? Come nah man ...enjoy de moment nah .... Britain eh get nothing here ..and dey home ...jamaica neither ....
Some of us doh realise our track stars does read the comments here ...RT is a fan I know and i am sure many others are ...it is kinda deflating  to make these kind of statements when we have achieved beyond realistic expectations.

Now I hope you realise that Cedenio is not yet 17  years old . You know what his mind was like for this ? a boy not yet 17 was left out of the world cup at home ...remember the comment of the coach ? ...I felt the burden of expectation would have been too much for someone so young even though he was doing things on the bench others could not ....... Cedenio is a great prospect but he has had a long season and he is very young for this type of pressure ....pop a cork relax and enjoy the moment ....the management who are on spot made the right choice ...we have a medal to show for it.

Vex??? I happy we win bronze.
Guess who vex - Cedenio, the young man beat Ade in the National Championships but will return home empty handed as he did not compete.

Put yourself in those shoes after training hard all year and claiming your spot fairly only to be side stepped because of ageism, and tell me if you would have the same opinion as you do from your armchair.

You sure T&T will have a contending team in 2016? You sure Cedenio will improve linearly?

Had they run him in the final the result would most likely have been the same place-wise (we would have run faster with him), but at least he would have something to show for his efforts preparing for this opportunity.
Dont miss the forest for the trees !
the same argument you are making can be used aginst you ......you sure cedenio would have done better ? can you say for certain that we would be celebrating a bronze medal today if he replaced Ade ? i deal in the real ...facts !! we won a bronze ..fact ! I dont see you making the same statement about Sorillo being replaced by Burns in the relay ...selective memory ? Sorillo beat Burns in the nationals you know ..I as there . You must realise that there are coaches who are on spot and have to make the decisions ...you can ask them to justify them but until you do that you should not critisize them especially when w have just broken anational record ...twice ...with that team ! if you cant see this then you are missing the forest ...

Colthrust is fantastic! He's already breaking 12 for 100m and 24 for 200m winning by a second and half a second respectively. He runs a lot like Tyson Gay. We need to ensure he is not spoilt and burnt out like previous prodigies
Real nice to hear!

Was Bolt running that fast at age 13?

We need to nurture that youth and not over work and burn him out by the time he becomes a senior athlete.  :beermug:

Thought I would keep a focus on the young talent in T&T ..Adelle Colthrust blasted the record books in jamaica recently at the caribbean Union Track and field championships ....11.28 for the 100 metres ..again leading a procession in that event ....12 + for the second place ...according to his coach ..his eye is set on Usain Bolt and all his records ...the boy is still 12 years old !

we really hoping here ....low 44's ? from who besides La Londe ? nah man lets be realistic we are weakened for a medal with the absence of Quow .... everone would have to run at their best for us to even medal ...I would go for Forte instead of jehue or cedeno .... and hope they all improve.

We dont need a low 44 to medal. I say a something around the mid 45.s will be enough for a medal.
yes but from who besides la lalonde ? Remeber this is rounds we talking here ....men put out already and we asking them to put out what they have not done before ... not many can do that.

Me ent no track and field expert..

.. but I say let go de youth man on dem!
Ok so the consensus seems to be to "Leggo Cedenio"!

Let's prayer that the youth man is up to this, remember he is still only 16!!  :beermug:

I eh know nah ....although Cedeno is coached by kirani's coach he is still young. Forte is older and presently may run faster ...which is what matters . I dont see Jehue as faster than Forte over the flat 400
