What we coaching staff  have to do is look at  Southamptons formation and service they provide to Stern to understand how we need to set up our own team. How we expect Stern to deliver for we if we not setting him up nice ..nice..!!

Shaka link up the PFL with a US team... :beermug: :beermug:

All we need now is for the 2-other folks to be a man and step to the plate like Shaka!!

1. Latas need to encourage a partnership with the SFA or a Scottish team (Falkirk)
2. Yorkie need to set something up with an English team (Sunderland)

Come on...step up guys !!

Are you late bro.....

Latas hooked up Densil Theobold and Brent Rahim

And you just think that Sunderland nick name is Trinderland as a Joke, you did not think that Yorke has played some part in 3 other Trinis joining that Club......

I agree with you though, we need more of our players to act as PR on some level far our local players.

Reread what I wrote:

Do we have a formal agreemnt with Sunderland and Falkirk with player exchange, coaching exchange and best practices ??,......NO we don't !!

The formal agreement that Shaka made possible, is WAY different Sayah !!...for more beneficial to TnT.....reel and come again!

I took the day off from work that day to watch the game....was by myself so no one else to bother me so I could witness one of the greatest moments in TnT history....

As the match came closer to an end and Latas and Yorkie start holding up the ball to drain the clock...my chest start to swell with a huge lump in my throat...resurecting my climatic emotions of '89

Once the final whistle blow, I couldn't hold it in any more....dare I say I bawled and cried like a baby...and couldn't believe that... WE....MY Trinidad and Tobago...just qualified for the World Cup!!

Keane Postgame Interview

It was a game of two halves as they say. The players were different class in the second half. They kept going and earned the right to get a result - and we nearly nicked it at the end, which would have been nice.

I'm not sure whether I'm relieved to get a point or disappointed not to get three. I'm confused - it was a strange day.

We were a goal down at home with 15 minutes to go and down to 10 men - we will probably look back and say that it was a point gained.

It was vital that we got something out of the game. It would have been fantastic to have nicked it at the end.

Our squad has been so tested so early in the season - all I can do is give credit to the players. They keep going.

"I thought the fans were different class today as well, they kept going. I admire them for staying with us, they kept the team going - especially when we were down to 10 men.

Half-time came at a good time for us because we were sloppy in the first half and disappointed with the goal that we gave away.

In the second half, we were unrecognisable from the first. You need to start quickly in these games and we were sloppy.

We stayed in the game and that's going to be vital for us - the ability to stay in games.

We keep talking about our squad being tested. Roy O'Donovan got injured in the warm-up and our full-back [Greg Halford] is now suspended for two games.

I thought Greg showed good attitude today. He kept getting in those forward positions. If you want to be a good player, you have to keep getting there and keep having a go and I admire him for that.

A lot of our players are playing with injury problems. In an ideal world, I'd like to give them a chance for the injuries to settle down.

Kenwyne hasn't trained all week - he had not even kicked a ball. We're asking players to keep pushing their bodies. I don't like doing it but we've not choice.

Kenwyne was outstanding today, he's a real good team player.

Lots of good players have bad days but they still show for it, they are still brave and they still put their bodies on the line, and today the players did that in the second half.

The law of averages says that Sunderland at home - with their fans - will get chances and we kept going and got our rewards.

As manager of the club, I've got to ask myself why we were so flat in the first half. Possibly we've been pushing the players too much in training.

FPATT

I have a suggestion which you may have already tried but you be the judge.

Why not have this information for the players to join FPATT come from the coaches and upper management of each of the clubs. I know you have had meetings already, (Jabloteh I think) or was it for all who wanted to attend, to explain the position and importance of FPATT.

However, instead of trying to explain to a youth or PFL "professional" the importance of joining a players union, if it was indirectly mandated by management and reinforced by coaches and captains as to its importance, FPATT may get further faster. That is, if management says "if you want to play for my club we strongly encourage our players to join FPATT".

Granted, this is a form of force feeding members to join.
Some might say..."You can take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink"
I say "force a little of the water down the horse throat cause once it gets the taste there is no turning back"

173
FPATT, again I am embarassed to see some of the questions you are posed with as well as comments from some of the more established and so called "informed" people on this board.

Lord put ah hand ! :-[

The players now being available is what we have asked for and it should always be entirely up to the head coach to decide his team and we are happy to hear this is how it will be from here on
Interpret the above statement....(if "self explanatory" is your response no need to comment)
They've always been about getting the blacklisted players off said list and back into the pool of available players...happy that this is the agreement that has been struck.  Pretty self-explanatory... :D

That aside though....I seriously hope that arbitration works out for the players. It's good way of mediating disputes without encumbering the court docket with yet another civil dispute...but I just don't have much faith in the system.  More often than not I've found that the arbitrators tend to side with management rather than the players in these types of labor disputes.  Shaka is right though, this is the quickest solution possible.

Bakes, is it me me or from Shaka's comment I kind of interpret it to also mean that they were not only allowed back on the team but his statement is also setting a precident by saying going forward ONLY the head coach will be making selections of players even if they are blacklisted by the TTFF..

Jack tipped to head Alliance

Who’s in charge?

Warner offered UNC Alliance leadership.
Panday, however to remain as UNC leader.
Alliance partners decide Thursday.
BY GAIL ALEXANDER
UNC deputy leader Jack Warner

UNC deputy leader Jack Warner is being proposed to lead the UNC Alliance, following Wednesday’s UNC executive meeting where the helming issue was discussed, sources said yesterday.

Warner’s name has become a front runner for the leadership of the new entity in a move which is already sparking heated debate in the UNC among supporters of Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

Her name has also come up in discussions on the post.

Under the proposal, Warner is being considered for the post of UNC Alliance leader in an arrangement that will include having UNC leader Basdeo Panday remaining leader of the UNC until his interim period ends.

The parties in the Alliance have all maintained their individuality and respective leaders.

The UNC executive’s meeting on Wednesday was held to recommend a person for the post of UNC Alliance leader.

This recommendation will then be presented to the UNC Alliance Leadership Council of Partners which meets on Thursday to finalise a leader for the Alliance.

Warner, en route to China yesterday, was saying neither “yea” nor “nay” on the matter of the post.

Asked about reports in the UNC that he was offered the Alliance leadership, Warner said: “I, too, have heard about it but I have not been advised.

“But if it does happen, I remain humbled by the offer... When I return, I’ll know more about the situation,” he added.

Asked if he would consider the offer, Warner said: “There are several considerations I’d have to make... I will raise the matter at Fifa this weekend and I will then have a better idea of my position.”

Declining to give a direction on his future decision, Warner added: “If decisions are ahead and I have to decide if to give up Fifa completely or have the situation truncated, whatever I decide will be decided in the interest of T&T.”

Warner is going to China to attend a function hosted by the Chinese government, involving the Association of World Women’s Championships. He returns by next Thursday.

Panday, in Ft Lauderdale for a UNC fund-raiser, said yesterday that no decision had been taken on the leadership.

“We have always been discussing the question of leadership for a long time since before the Alliance, but no decision has been made,” he said.

“However, the issue of leadership will come up... It is bound to come up, but I can’t say when.”

Panday returns by the middle of next week.

‘Panday offered Warner the post’

Top level UNC sources said Warner was approached by Panday recently to assume the post of Alliance leader.

Persad-Bissessar, who is also going to the Florida fund-raiser, did not attend Parliament yesterday. She is to return on Tuesday.

UNC chief whip Hamza Rafeeq said he had been hearing rumours on the matter, but added there was nothing official on the leadership issue.

Members of UNC executive confirmed that Wednesday’s executive meeting focused on who should be recommended as leader of the UNC Alliance to take the “party of parties” into the general election.

If the Alliance won election, that person would become Prime Minister, they said.

Sources said debate on the issue of leadership of the UNC Alliance focused on the pros and cons of having Warner as leader, as well discussing support for Persad-Bissessar for the post.

Warner who was present at the meeting left early.

Persad-Bissessar arrived late for the meeting as debate on the proposal for Warner was in progress.

The move to appoint a UNC Alliance leader comes on the heels of attempts by UNC financiers to have Panday step aside.

He was recently broached by top party financiers to do so, while he was abroad.

A source said that the incoming Alliance leader could possibly seek to forge an alliance with the COP.

Ganga: COP not joining Alliance

COP Chief whip Ganga Singh yesterday emphatically rejected the idea of COP joining with the UNC or the UNC Alliance “with Jack at the helm, or Kamla, or with or without Panday.”

“We are not joining that entity with or without Panday, or in any form or fashion,” he said.

“They intend to appoint an Alliance leader and keep Panday as UNC leader... What is that? “Panday is not relinquishing leadership, whether is dulahin or the dulaha leading... It doesn’t matter.

COP is out of that... Panday and his proxies are irrelevant since the UNC Alliance doesn’t carry the politics forward.”

Alliance partners eye Jack and Kamla

NDA leader Carson Charles, one of the UNC Alliance partners, said all the groups in the Alliance are expected to meet among themselves and return to the table with recommendations for a leader to be finalised at a council meeting next Thursday.

“Each member of the Leadership Council will be considered by each group and we intend to do it in a dispassionate way—examining the advantages and disadvantages of each person on the leadership council being elevated to the leadership of the Alliance,” he said.

“Each has obvious advantages and disadvantages.

“However, each party will remain with its own structures and party intact after we decide on an Alliance leader.”

T&TFF lift blacklist.
By: Lasana Liburd (Express).

Soca Warriors go to arbitration

The Trinidad and Tobago 2006 World Cup players yesterday enjoyed a significant breakthrough in their bonus dispute with the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (T&TFF) as the latter party agreed to lift a blacklist on the group of 16.
Shaun Fuentes, T&TFF press officer, confirmed that the players were available for national selection again after 11 months in the international wilderness.
But the players did not have it all their way as legal representatives for both parties agreed to take the case to an independent arbitrator under the auspices of the Sports Dispute Resolution Panel in London.
Mike Townley, the players' London-based solicitor, was adamant that his client wished to pursue the matter in civil court during an interview on Thursday but changed his mind after discussions with the T&TFF's attorneys, Om Lalla, Kelvin Ramkisson and British barrister William McCormick, yesterday morning.
The matter never reached the court as Justice Gregory Smith was absent due to bereavement although, according to Townley, both parties had already agreed to arbitration.
"We were very adamant (from the start) that we have a forceful robust dispute resolution process," said Townley. "When they declined it, the court seemed to be the only route. But the nature of the arbitral panel that has now been agreed on is one I have a lot of faith in.
"I believe it will produce a just result and it will do so within a time at least twice as quick as either the courts in Trinidad can do or the courts in the UK can do."
Lalla, who sat next to Townley at the head table during a press conference at Crowne Plaze Hotel, refused to consider the decision an early victory for his client and both parties, who barely spoke before yesterday, littered their dialogue with phrases like "mutual agreement" and also offered March 2008 as a realistic deadline for the conclusion of the case. There was even an agreement to desist from further comment on contentious issues regarding the case.
A full week after the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs released that the T&TFF banked at least $173 million from the 2006 World Cup campaign, Lalla was still unable to explain why his client claimed to receive just over $18 million last October. He told the media gathering that the T&TFF disputed the figures but offered no new information.
"We are not furnished with the necessary information (to discuss the government's figures)," said Lalla. If Townley is true to his word, FIFA vice-president and United National Congress (UNC) deputy political leader Jack Warner, who negotiated the controversial World Cup pact with the "Soca Warriors", should hear little more of the supposed $173 million bounty until after the upcoming elections.
The upside for the players is the chance to return to international duty. Goalkeeper Shaka Hislop is now retired while defender Ian Cox and left winger Evans Wise are unlikely to be considered for selection.
Defender Atiba Charles and attacker Anthony Wolfe are not certainties while left back Avery John, midfielder Chris Birchall and veteran defender Marvin Andrews cannot take their places for granted either.
Defender Brent Sancho, who is a free agent at present, and goalkeeper Kelvin Jack would also be curious to see coach Wim Rijsbergen's next team list too after being singled out by the T&TFF for their role in the players' legal action.
However, Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones and Toronto FC winger Collin Samuel will almost certainly be recalled and Connection midfielder Aurtis Whitley, Southampton forward Stern John and the CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh pair of defender Cyd Gray and striker Cornell Glen might fancy their chances.
Trinidad and Tobago's next international assignment is away to El Salvador on October 17. The T&TFF had initially scheduled a friendly meeting with Mexico on October 14 but "El Tricolor" since announced they will play Nigeria instead.
