Dwight Yorke fit for top of table shoot out
Saturday, 15 October, 2005 - 7:53PM
Sydney FC striker Dwight Yorke has arrived back in Australia fit and ready to take his place in the side for tomorrow’s sell out A-League blockbuster against Melbourne Victory at Olympic Park in Melbourne.

Yorke stepped off the plane this morning after skippering Trinidad & Tobago into an historic World Cup play off and trained freely with Sydney FC in Melbourne this afternoon.

Coach Pierre Littbarski happily watched his striker breeze through training before declaring him a certain starter.

“Dwight has come back fit and refreshed and he is ready to play,” Littbarski said. “He is good in the mind and he is good in the legs after watching him training so he will play.”

Yorke will be out to add to his four goals in the A-League, which have come in just five matches, including his first goal of the season in a 1-1 draw against Melbourne Victory in round one.

Sydney FC can go to the top of the A-league ladder with a victory against Melbourne tomorrow following Adelaide United’s second consecutive loss, this time going down to Newcastle 4-2 on Friday night.

In fact, the match has been set up as a shoot out for top spot on the A-League ladder with Melbourne also able to leapfrog Sydney and Adelaide if they win the game. A draw will see Sydney lead the competition on goal difference from Adelaide.

Adding to the tension is the fact that Melbourne Victory officials today declared the match was sold out, meaning more than 18,000 people will pack into Olympic Park.

The Sydney FC squad is: Clint Bolton (gk), Iain Fyfe, Alvin Ceccoli, Ufuk Talay, Robbie Middleby, Matthew Bingley, David Zdrilic, Steve Corica, Sasho Petrovski, David Carney, Andrew Packer, Terry McFlynn, Jacob Timpano, Dwight Yorke and Justin Pasfield (gk).

The Sydney FC website w}ll carry live match updates dur8ng the match, starting at 12.45pm.

You should defintely press them on it...especially now since you are providing them with a lot of web traffic and as a result sales.

Do you have any kind of metrics on your server/s that indicates how much traffic is pointed/routed to their site.

You can use this as a bargaining tool...

We all appreciate you having this site for us but the fact of the matter is it still cost money !!

Football / Re: Soca Warriors Supporters Club
« on: October 17, 2005, 11:45:16 AM »
I think a good way to start of that may be simple is putting some structure i.e. some regions. This will depend on the popultion of supporters in a specific area: eg

Where SW = SocaWarriors .........generic to all regions

S - TTSW = South Trinidad
N - TTSW = North Trinidad
T - TTSW = Tobago

USSW: United States Soca Warriors
UKSW: United Kingdom Soca Warriors
CASW: Canadian Soca Warriors

and so on. As usual, this is up for discussion.

Hoever, there is no doubting that the amercian game has come a long way in a short period of time.....I predict them getting to the semis in the WC

Here is another suggestion and this can work to our advantage:

This site is obviously becoming very popular and will continue to do so exponentially as we move more inot our WC campaign.
This will be a excellent advertising for the corporate sector and they know it.
We should take that tact and try to get sponsorship. I am sure one of the big corporations in TNTY will love to be asscociated with SOCAWARRIORS.net...

Let me know what you think

okay.. I am willing to contribute...

Couple thinks we need to start thinking about first:

1. Official name of fan club.
This can be done by suggestions and then we can do a pole(democratic process) when we break down the list

2. Structure
       President, VP, treasurer, regional co-ordinators

3. Mission Statement

4. Fan club qualification
This may be a function of years registered with the socawarriors site, level of participation, what you can bring to the table to furhter   the development of the fan club.

Let me know what you guys think.

4.
