Mill's judgment was released more than a week after he decided the case because-in what is understood to be unusual-the T&TFF allegedly defaulted on their payments to the arbitration body. The T&TFF asked for the bonus dispute to be heard before the SDRP late last year after the players initially wanted to proceed in a Trinidad and Tobago court room.

Townley claimed that he eventually deposited a personal cheque as security so the judgment would be released. So, apart from what the T&TFF owe their players, they are also obliged to repay $81,171 (£6,700) to the opposing lawyer.

It should be noted that the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) remains the body mandated by the government to run the local game although they have referred to themselves as the T&TFF for more than a decade. The trading name"the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation"was only registered as a limited liability company in mid-2006 by T&TFF president Oliver Camps.

FPATT should use the game against England to make a public statement 1-hour right before game time to call for proper accounting from the TTFF....they will have all the media attention they need.

Adriano is a symbol of the process by which the Brazilian national team has bulked up over the years.

Physical preparation has long been taken very seriously in Brazilian football, but after the rise of Northern European football, and especially the Holland side of 1974, it became an obsession.

When he was co-ordinating Brazil's youth sides, former left-back Branco told me that right from the start of the process he was looking for big, strong boys.

Football's World Cup qualifying series for the Con-federation of North, Central America and Caribbean Asso-ciation Football (CONCACAF), steps up a gear next month with Stage 2 competition.

The CONCACAF Stage 2 qualification kicks off on June 4 with 1982 World Cup qualifiers in Spain, Honduras, hosting Puerto Rico at the Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula.

CONCACAF has confirmed that the first-leg encounters continue on June 14 as Guatemala take on St Lucia at the Estadio Mateo Flores in Guatemala City, while Grenada face Costa Rica at St George's National Stadium and then Suriname meet Guyana at Andres Kamperveen Stadium in Paramaribo.

The following day, June 15, the USA meet Barbados at the Home Depot Centre in Carson, California, while Trinidad and Tobago, the No.1 team in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), host Bermuda at Port-of-Spain's Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Belize will be the home team when they play against Mexico at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, while The Bahamas travel to face Jamaica at Kingston's National Stadium.

Rounding out the first-leg encounters will be St Vincent and the Grenadines taking on visiting Canada at the Arnos Vale Playing Field in Kingstown, while Panama meet El Salvador at Panama City's Estadio Rod Carew and then Haiti hosting the Netherlands Antilles at Stade Sylvio Cator in Port-au-Prince.

The second-leg encounters for Stage 2 of CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers are scheduled for June 18-22, with the exception of Puerto Rico against Honduras which will be played on June 14 at the Estadio Juan Ramón Loubriel in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.

The 12 winners from Stage 2 will progress to the semi-final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying series that will be composed of three groups of four with matches running from August 20-November 19.

The top two from each of the three groups will advance to the six-team CONCACAF Final Round scheduled for February 11- October 14, 2009.

The top three teams from the CONCACAF Final Round in 2009 will automatically qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

CONCACAF's fourth-place finisher will play off with South Africa's fifth-place team in a home-and-away series for one of the last berths to the FIFA event.

Players to Impress Professor Simoes

WESTERN BUREAU: SEVERAL PLAYERS from western Jamaica will be on a mission to impress national technical director René Simoes ahead of the nation's 2010 World Cup campaign today, when they battle the national team in a practice game at Jarrett Park at 6 p.m.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for these fringe players to impress Professor Simoes," said Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) vice-president, Bruce Gaynor. "It is also an opportunity for fans in the west to get a chance to see the local players who are hoping to make the cut when the team for our World Cup campaign is selected."

The 23-member western team, which features several members who have donned the national colours at various levels, is dominated by players who featured in 2008 Western Super Cup, which was won by former national champions Wadadah.

Club Players

The western players and the clubs to which they are attached are:

Terrence McIntyre, Fitzroy Campbell, Jerome Eccellston, Mario Samuels, Edward Campbell and Jacomeno Barrett (Seba United)

Odane Snow, Jermaine Anderson, Oniel Pringle, Damion Reid, Oniel Sterling (Granville)

Junior Powell (Duanvale)

Martin Williams and Lushane Brent Harris (Mt Salem)

Glenworth Campbell and Cleve Kerr (Montpelier)

Kevin Williams and Warren Graham (Negril)

Ray Duncan, Ricardo Collins and Luke Davis (Sandy Bay

Nicholy Findlayson and Ricardo Scott (Reno).

National players

The national team, minus the majority of its overseas-based professionals, has been in training in Montego Bay for the past week as the national coaching staff steps up preparations for Jamaica's opening round World Cup 2010 qualifier against the Bahamas. Both legs of that tie will be played in Jamaica next month.

Among the players slated to be on show for the national team is ace goalkeeper Donavan Ricketts, who was not allowed re-entry into England after flying back to Jamaica for the nation's most recent friendly international against Trinidad and Tobago at the National Stadium.

While all the players will be under scrutiny, one that is expected to attract extra attention is 19-year-old Andre Mittoo, a 6'1" in forward who is based in south Florida, and is said to be a top college player in the United States.

Major League Soccer is not the most confrontational of professional sports organizations, but commissioner Don Garber showed this week that he is prepared to fight if his league has been slighted.

Garber came out swinging following the ill-thought criticism of MLS supporters by television pundit Michael Wilbon, co-host of ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption.” Wilbon’s case was that the practice of throwing streamers onto the field before corner kicks, which happens with regularity at Toronto FC’s BMO Field and sporadically elsewhere, is “minor league” and “garbage” and harmful to soccer’s reputation.

Now, it would have been easy for Garber to ignore these comments and go about his business of trying to continue MLS’ recent and ongoing growth. However, the issue of fan involvement is one guaranteed to raise the ire of those at MLS HQ, as the powers-that-be realize how crucial the phenomenon is to the league’s future.

Heavily borrowed from European and South American examples, the involved and interactive fan experience that soccer provides is unique and undeniably special. It is a huge part of why the game is by far the most popular in the world and a factor that Garber and his colleagues believe will, over time, give their league a crucial edge over competing sports.

Garber did not come from a soccer background, but in this episode he showed he firmly is in tune with his fans and the unique selling point that soccer offers. In his weekly blog, he stormed back at the criticism, defending the fans’ right to express themselves.

“This is a unique phenomenon that happens all over the soccer world,” he said. “We’re playing soccer, not baseball, football or basketball. Our fans are a part of the game experience. That’s one of our points of difference and part of what will drive our future success.

“There are plenty of sports leagues in the U.S. and we are not trying to offer the same in-stadium experience. We need to embrace the passion and electricity that makes soccer the world’s most popular sport.”

There are some who will claim that the practice of throwing items – even tiny pieces of paper – simply is a prelude to some of the less savory aspects of soccer fandom around the world, namely hooliganism. But it is a ridiculous stretch to try to draw a link between the two.

All the marketing companies and demographics experts can do as much planning and research as they like. The simple fact is that if fans enjoy themselves they will return.

Toronto FC fans took no time at all to learn how to express themselves once their franchise was founded in 2007, and that example is rubbing off around the league.

They have built their own traditions and superstitions and turned their club into an integral part of the city’s sports landscape in about a year. The critics need to calm down and get used to it.

Call me crazy, but I understand the reasoning.

ill wait until i can find a word that transcends "crazy."

If this is what Dry So means, I think I understand their reasoning too

Stern (Championship), Kenwyne (EPL), Roberts (Eredivisie) are higher than League 1.
And rather than have Scotland is a 4th choice, they'd prefer to give a local the experience.

I not defending it as the best decision, but just understanding their reasoning based on the statement.
Yep. Exactly what I mean.

Sounds logical enough for me....

Barca strikes deal with MLS

NEW YORK (Ticker) - European soccer giant Barcelona signed a five-year strategic partnership with Major League Soccer, the league announced Thursday.

The two-time Champions League winners from Spain are the first European club to enter into such an agreement with MLS and its marketing arm Soccer United Marketing, the U.S. professional league said in a press release.

The deal guarantees that Barcelona, who appear set to retain international stars for next season such as Thierry Henry, Rafael Marquez and Lionel Messi, will visit the United States for a minimum of six exhibition matches during the five-year partnership, including a tour this summer, with SUM managing every commercial, marketing and PR aspect of the games on American soil.
“FCB is a world-renowned brand for its great history of special players, entertaining play and success,” MLS Commissioner Don Garber said. “MLS is excited to help expand the story of FCB and its efforts by showcasing its breathtaking soccer and further developing its brand in North America.”

Barcelona, who this year is third in Spain’s La Liga and reached the Champions League semifinals, first made serious attempts to gain a foothold in the American soccer market following the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Barca, led by Brazilian star Ronaldinho, toured the USA to great success, selling out all three of its matches in Los Angeles, Houston and East Rutherford, New Jersey, with an average crowd of 80,734.

“After a successful tour in 2006, we at FC Barcelona are excited to embrace a long-term strategy for our brand in the U.S. market,” club president Joan Laporta said.

“This represents a true North American expansion for FC Barcelona. We are sure that, with the cooperation of MLS and SUM, Barca will become more recognizable among the North American public, as well as continue the growth of soccer in the United States.”

Details of this summer’s tour were not released on Thursday but are expected “in the near future,” the MLS statement said.

Good move by the TTFF, them assholes on this board real dotish..... anybody better than what we currently have....

Dont know to much about Butch Lauffer but I wish him all the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Butch Lauffer

The widely recognized soccer mentor, Butch Lauffer, begins his 17th season as head men's coach and his 12th as head women's coach at West Texas A&M University. Lauffer has coached the men to 14 consecutive winning seasons and the women to six years of 11-plus victories.

In 1991, Lauffer organized a Division II soccer program in less than three months and in their first season he guided the Buffs to a 10-8-2 record; he has a 188-90-22 (.663) record over 16 seasons. The Buffaloes reached the NCAA Division II men's soccer playoffs for the first time in 1997, losing to Cal State-Bakersfield in shootouts. The men made a return trip in 2000, and both the men's and women's teams qualified in 2001. The Buffs were ranked in each of their first 11 seasons.

Over his WT career, Lauffer has guided the Buffs and Lady Buffs to 334-143-32 (.688) record in 16 seasons, and the women have recorded 10 or more wins in all but one season.

Lauffer was named NCAA Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2001 and received the LSC Men's Coach of the Year award in 1999 and 2000. Additionally, he was chosen as the Women's LSC Coach of the Year in 1996 and 2001.

Lauffer started the women's program in 1996, leading them to a 12-4-0 finish and Lone Star Conference regular season title. Over 11 seasons, the Lady Buffs have accumulated an overall record of 146-53-10 (.722).

Over the course of Lady Buff history, the women have won either the Lone Star Conference regular season or Tournament title six times in 11 years, winning both in 2001. That same year, the Lady Buffs made their first-ever NCAA-II National Tournament appearance. WTAMU made a second consecutive NCAA-II National Tournament appearance in 2002 after winning their second-straight LSC regular season crown.

Three seasons ago, the Lady Buffs won their third consecutive LSC Championship and made the NCAA-II Midwest Regional Finals.

Lauffer has several foreign and domestic coaching licenses, including an English Football Association's preparatory coaching license (1982), the United States Soccer Federation "A" license (1987) and the Irish Football Association Grade 1 coaching license (1989). Most recently, he earned a United European Football Association "A" license from the Wales Football Association in 1998 and a UEFA pro license through the Scottish Football Association in 2001.

During the 1994 World Cup, he became a member of the USSF National coaching staff. He assisted FIFA with the technical reports for all World Cup contests at the Dallas venue and taught coaching courses on developing coaching skills for the "A," "B," and "C" levels.

Lauffer, born in Washington, D.C., moved to Dallas at age seven and has played or coached soccer ever since. In his playing days, Lauffer competed for the Texas Longhorn Soccer Club; he logged over 100 international matches with them and was a member of the first American team to win a European Tournament - the Munich Cup - in 1978.

Lauffer earned both his bachelor's degree in kinesiology and his master's degree in liberal arts from Texas Christian University while working as a graduate assistant for both the men's and women's soccer programs.

Lauffer has written three soccer books about coaching and player development. His first book, "Coaching Soccer", was published by Sterling Publishing Company in 1989. It was praised by Soccer Digest as a "gold mine of tips and advice from one of America's greatest soccer experts." The book was re-released in the fall of 2006.

His second book, "Soccer Coaches Guide to Skills, Drills and Technique Training", was released in the fall of 1991.

His latest book, "Techniques, Tactics and Teamwork for Women's Soccer," was released by Sterling Publishing in the spring of 2001. He co-wrote it with April Kater, Syracuse University's head women's coach.

In conjunction with Championship Productions, Lauffer has created two three-disc DVD sets describing how to implement various game tactics and coaching techniques. The first set, released in 2005, includes "The Complete Guide to the 3-5-2," "Tactical Flexibility With the 4-2-3-1 System," and "Attacking in the Final Third." The second set, released in 2006, includes "Butch Lauffer's Counter Attack System," "Butch Lauffer's Zone Play," and "Butch Lauffer's 12 Best Training Games."

Lauffer is also director of soccer for the Amarillo Drifters Soccer Association. Butch lives in Amarillo with his wife, Kimberly, and their two children, Kendall (9) and Kyle (6). He also has an 18 year-old son, Blake, who lives in Hurst/Bedford.

I guess in your book Diambars, Lauffer does not have as much experience as our Trinidadian coaches
