Coach say Chesney and JD should be in squad for Liverpool.

also implied that Vermaelen could be back the week after.
I think he specified he would be in the Training Squad, not the team. I think he's done this season. We've heard this before about Vermaelen coming back.

Win a league title only. I like that. Going undefeated in a season for the first time in over a hundred years and is "win a league title only".
Thank you. So tired of hearing how Wenger inherited this great team and built nothing. A setta nonsense from people who don't bother to check their facts
Has Arsene9 ever build a great side from scratch that won things? The invicibles and sides that won trophies contained a defense including goalie from the previous manager.

Incorrect. Only pre-Wenger players were Bergkamp, Parlour and Keown.

Rest of the The invincibles team was mostly Wenger's signings:

Vieira, Lehmann, Cole, Toure, Campbell, Lauren, Gilberto, Ljunberg, Pires, Henry, Edu, Cygan, Wiltord, Clichy, Reyes, Kanu, Aliadiere, Van Bronchorst, Jeffers.

The 'invincibles' was A 2004 side that win a league title only.

The side before that won two doubles  (98 and 2002) and make 3 successive FA cup finals. Adams, Dixon, Keown, Winterburn, Seaman even Parlour were all big contributors.

In fact, take away those pre-Wenger men and Arsenal is a side with one league in 15 years so a lot of the success that Wenger trades on is built on players who were at the club when he got there.

What you have to give Wenger credit for is changing the way those guys played and worked and prolonging their careers so the were playing top level in their late, late 30s. I like Wenger and think the Arsenal fans crying over 5, 6, 7 year drought is silly in an age where Liverpool and Everton can't even sniff a title. That being said it is telling that the loss of a ready-made defence, and players with hardmen mentality coincides with this slow period.

Just for the sake of comparison it took Ferguson 7 years to win his 1st title. In that time he sold everyone he met at the club and it was all his players with the exception of Robson who barely played in the Championship season anyway. But that 1st great side form the foundation for the 2nd and so on. That is what Wenger is trying to build.

Yes I agree with you there. I guess I didn't make that point clear. I think that is what keeps Chelsea from being a truly great team but creative central midfielders aren't that common. Honestly I don't watch enough Chelsea games to have seen Mikel's more creative side, Always thought his style was similar to Busquets or Denilson(this is NOT a comment on their class or comparative level of ability, before I get irate comments). But a player who can hit killer through balls or long diagonals to Chelsea's overlapping fullbacks would complete that team in my opinion. Don't recall seeing too much of the new boys, except Sturridge who impresses me, but I'm willing to buy what you said about McEachrane.
dansteel, I cyah see how Mikel could be a momentum killer when Chelsea is and always has been a team that is (frustratingly, for its fans) methodical in going forward, and United knows this which is why they were happy to sit back and absorb all the pressure.  I do agree that we need our strikers to find their form, something I've been lamenting for the majority of the season when others were more willing to pin our poor form on Mikel and ramires.  Well, the poor finishing continues to haunt us and goals are what takes the pressure off the shoulders of our players from the midfield to the GK and places it squarely on the shoulders of the opponents.  I dunno why Ancelotti treatin' Drogba the way ferguson treatin' Berbatov.....at least the man fillin' een fuh Berba gettin' the results to justify that move.   I ain't mad at Torres, the man was out of form before Chelsea buy him and I have faith that he will recover, but Carlo don't need to keep treatin' Drogba so.  That being said, Van der Saar came up big for manu again today while Bosingwa seem to have been in two minds as to whether he should play carrick's cross or do something about giggs....choose ONE!
My point about Mikel was that Chelsea needed to be more dynamic getting the ball forward. Mikel circulates the ball around midfield but they needed a player with more forward passing ability, which I don't think Chelsea really has in central midfield. Getting the ball forward methodically only gives United the chance to get their defence organised, and they are unbeatable when they do that, as my side repeatedly finds out when we play them.

yeah, but when you say we don't particularly have anybody "dynamic" in CM with a forward mentality, it kinda supports what I said about our team always being a more methodical side, doesn't it?  I have lamented in the past and been frustrated by our team's unwillingness to attack with pace and purpose, even when on the counter.  We only seem to do that (not unlike yesterday) when we are desperately desperate for draw or victory.  I gladly accept that I am the lone supporter of Mikel in more of an attacking, playmaking role but that is because I base it on his potential, possbly being one of very few Chelsea fans that have seen with my own two eyes what he is capable of.  Both he and Chlelsea seem quite comfortable in keeping him in the role they have him in and he seems very reluctant to go bold and assert his talent.  Meanwhile,  the one player we do have (Benayoun) that has that diret and forceful attitute in going forward is sidelined....and his role is more off the ball and goal scoring anyway.  Lampard is not that person, (never was, IMHO) and no longer seems to bring what value he did always bring to the team.  Josh McEachran seems to be that (future) player and maybe the sielfishness that Daniel Sturridge was being criticized for woulda come in handy yesterday because that selfishness had him scoring GOALS quite early and quite often when he first got to Bolton.  I love his hunger/selfishness and we could really do with some of it right now.

Yes ladies and gents, the plan taking shape! United will struggle but make it to the final, getting more and more tired, until Real Madrid (or maybe Barca) wash dem in Wembley. The fatigue causes their league form to dip and Arsenal catches them to win the title. Manure go hold dong a FA Cup.

Arsene knows!

I dunno man. I appreciate the sentiment but football clubs are so obsessed with results "now for now" that a man like Mourinho will always be favoured over a man like Wenger who, while guaranteeing the long term viability and independence of a team, doesn't win as many trophies.

On the other hand that is why Mourinho is the only big manager who will constantly criticise Wenger's trophy drought. He knows he built nothing of substance. Ferguson, Ancelotti, Guardiola, they all speak of Wenger with respect because they recognise the scale of his achievement. Mourinho will never understand because he doesn't have to.

According to wenger "football lost today."
Doh really think Chelsea did too much wrong today, except for the chupid defending on Rooney goal. Carrick pass was a beauty doh. Chelski create more than enough chances but their strikers misfiring. Of course there was the penalty (or maybe penalties) they weren't given. The only thing they missing is a in form striker. But they better get it back quick!

That goal Man United score was a beauty cannot argue with that.  :applause:

What about Drogba destroying Evra and that Brazil boy going and coming.

That was maddness, i feel they leave on torres hoping he woulda justify them buying him.
Drogba was a terror today - they real mistreating dat soldier ...

Trying to keep Drogba and Torres both happy is hurting Chelsea. Look how many more chances they created when they went 433 after taking off Zhirkov and Drogba? The only mistake after that was playing Mikel who killed their forward momentum. They waited too long to switch to their best formation. I don't think United coulda handle that pressure forever.

The only problem I have with this is that dem fellas does be cussing all de time. I think they should be banned for cussing the refs as opposed to cussing at a camera. But dem does be swearing at refs, opponents, teammates, fans, etc. and it's very common. I think they're acting this way because it was seen and heard live on ESPN and they could loose some sponsors because of this.

i agree
There's a theory that because of the growing power struggle between the FA and Premier League clubs, the FA has decided to play rough with the only weapon it has, player and manager discipline. That' according to this theory, is why they are so harsh and intolerant of player and manager discipline. If it's true, the clubs only have themselves to blame, since they don't really do much to help the FA and they aren't interested in the change necessary to better English football. When you have people by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow.

Thank you Wazoo.. greatest Birthday present ... wow we really never give up..I love my team, I love Wazoo, I love Chic ho, I love Barbs and everyone else..Gig gs at Left Back ha ha it worked perfectly..I love Forge

I LOVE UNITEDDDDDDDD

HAHAHAA all those Arsenal fans and Chelsea fans must be f**king bitter right now

Smalls enjoy that birthday and ah know you appreciate the (at least my) quote of the day from Rooney (straight into the camera) "F*&KING WHAT!!!!"

So Rooney facing a 2 match ban for screaming that into the camera! The f*ck in FA have nothing better to do?
Dewy does take DAT serious. Remember Drogue get a ban for cussing into the camera a few years ago when Bar ca knock Dem outta Champs League semifinal in controversial circumstances? "It's a disgrace! It's a f*King disgrace!"

I remember that. I still think Rooney is an idiot but I think the FA this is how they will get respect then they badly mistaken. They disrespect the game by putting out incompetent and inconsistent refs to call games! The hypocrisy of it all was the English media writing story after story about how Rooney's lack of passion and fire but were first to  crucify him for this verbal outburst! I don't think it was aimed at anybody and for me it seem that it was him exclaiming and being extra exuberant after scoring the goal that overcame a deficit. I would say it may have been like having an orgasm on the field!
As an Arsenal fan I glad because we need all the luck we can get right now but you right. They showing a big double standard. It is one of the harsh and stupid rules they have but then the PL is full of harsh and stupid rules. They can easily put a 5 second delay and cut out the cussing and solve the problem forever. Anyhow, they not going to back down because, strictly speaking, they have de man dead to rights and he shoulda know better.

Watch dem kiss his arse when he pulls on the England uniform. I also think Rooney spiteful enough tuh make dem grovel!
True, well after de way he skin United for his pay increase we know de man ruthless!

ah well
i hope we win the rest of the games an finish on some sort of a bitter sweet end to this season.
its out of our hands even if us and chelsea beat manu it stil lleaves them one point ahead and still leaving it up to chelsea and the others to peg them back

i wanna see this club learn some tennacity, guts, never say die, and just keep outscoring other teams

something is up, something has been up for 6 years, there needs to be a change rung and rung ture this summer
Not entirely correct. Arsenal beat ManU and have a game in hand. I not hopeful since we have won only 1 of our last 7 but maybe as we have players back from injury who were a bit rusty. All we can do is hope for Chelsea or someone else to take points off them and go on a 8 game winning streak, which we haven't done all season.

stop sulking and looking for sympathy
Oh I love it!

They ever think about inviting a foreign club to play a Pro League best XI? Like Man U going to do against MLS All Stars? I doh know if we could get a big side like that but I sure if we could it would do plenty to boost awareness and so on. Just wondering here.
Good point. Maybe a lower half prem team if we cant attract a top class team

FC Dallas and Atletico Paranaense visited in 2007
New York MetroStars visited in 2005
Dundee visited 2003
Newcastle United visited in 2000
Thanks. So I guess they tried that. Did they play a "best XI"? Or just individual clubs? Maybe if they played a selection it could highlight local stars.

They played both individual clubs and All-Star selections.

After Newcastle came down, Dennis Lawrence had a two-week trial with them and was offered a contract, but had work-permit problems. They were also interested in Carlos.

Sancho had a trial with Dundee and subsequently earned a contract.

Marvin Phillip had a trial with FC Dallas.
Ah, so it was a great success. Which explains why they stopped.

gands all here! (almost bar cheesy, JD and tommy)

cesc rvp theo song and diaby(dont care) are back and fit for tomorrow vs blackburn

so squad looks like this i think

      Manuel
Sagna Squill LK Clichy
Song Wilshire Cesc
Theo RVP Nasri

now if only thier keeper is as bad as ours, arsenals biggest obstacle this season has been against teams who's keepers literally put in man of the match performances against us

That's because we don't have enough players running into the box. Think of the first goal against Chelsea. It took Song running into the box unmarked to crack their defence. They are also there for picking up rebounds off saves.
