" Nyeeea ne ni nyeaaa nyeaa... We beat alyuh again .. "

Should  we  be denied that!! ?

I know you doh really fancy Jamaicans but that was ridiculous.  :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Honestly it might not be that we are panicking  but the reality is the same team that went to the WC would not be playing against JA. Both countries always set out to outdo the next and we want to be the ones to say

" Nyeeea ne ni nyeaaa nyeaa... We beat alyuh again .. "

When we win :D

JA would be looking to embarrass us because we just came back from the WC where we profess to be the best team in the Caribbean.

It is our National pride Wim will be playing with if he decides to experiment and not play for a win.

Honestly I don't think that there is any Trini that doesn't want to blaze the yellow and green. I guess that is why we have a few egg threats so that Whim could understand where we are coming from as a country.

The goals dry up long time now ,never a good ting .This kind of rut could last long ,we need easy com, like grenada or jamaica to break out of it.

Since when Jamaica and Grenada in the same category? You have a gmae vs Jamaica in Sept...simply means that you have at least one real bad cutarse to go before you start winning again  ;D
Whey your computer alerts you anytime some say Jamaica oh what  :rotfl:.But seriouly jamaica go get good wood from we.What woulda been the score if you guys play Japan today ;D

She actually came 7th. It was really sad I thought she should have been in the top 5. Alot of the international media and international community thought that she should have won.

One of the host commented and said that she had the face of the competition.

i'm happy for him cause he's really a good player, and a hard worker. :D

So am I.

I saw the news and he looked really happy to have received his reward.

This post was mainly to bring to light what I thought may have been an injustice in over looking a person that put alot of heart and effort into our team.

The situation happened on Saturday and some people didn't even take it on. It was never about him receiving the money just about him receiving a proper thankyou. Being the Award or at least the respect of being called as one of the 24.

How would you have felt if that had happened to you, if you were a player. ???

Just really happy that the guy got the award.

Are you sure was he called in the 24???? Cause no medal was pinned on him on Saturday.

Well the world cup squad consisted of 23 players so spann has to be the 24th player . I did not hear the ceremony but on i-sports last night Andre said spann got the chaconia and the 750,000 units and 250,000 cash.

Okay I get that but no medal was pinned on Spann at the ceremony on Saturday. His name wasn't even called.

If the medal was given to him I am glad. I knew that the squad was 23 men but no medal was pinned on him. If it was a last minute decision to include him I am still happy and my campaigning is over. I just hope that he really did get the medal. Just sorry he could not receive it the same way the others did.

What did Atiba Charles and Anthony Wolfe do to deserve those medals?????? Note this is a genuine question, I really want to know.

From de time you say what you posted above...you cyah come now and back track and say

Quote
In no way shape or form am I bringing down the efforts made by Atiba Charles or Anthony Wolfe. I play sports too and know how important a bench is.

I was simply making a refrennce and trying to draw a comparisson.

Buh say wha....yuh heart in de right place. As I say...I have no problem wit Spann gettin recognition...but to say wha you say bout Wolfe and Atiba "by comparison" was outta order in my opinion.

Okay so I get your point but get mine. I was not trying to bring down those guys I was just trying to draw a comparisson so that ppl could see how unfair the guy is being treated.

Maybe it was a comparisson I should not have done but it was not originall done out of malice and ill will.

Besides you took it a whole other way and I undertsand now that caution must be give to how we express ourselves. Because we could be misunderstood sometimes. And misunderstood I was. Just please doh try to make a post about one thing out to be a bashing for the author about another.

I explained myself after concerns were raised and I hope that that was enough.

Football / Re: WARRIORS given....
« on: June 25, 2006, 10:15:44 AM »
Allyuh doh get vex with me eh. but I have a slightly different spin on the thing.

Firstly, I was considering the salaries these players earn.  Maybe around 1000 pounds a week average ?
That should work out to around TT$40,000.00 a month.  That even more than the prime minister making.  So them fellas not hungry..if yuh know what ah mean.

Secondly they not living here and a lot of them have house and land here already anyway.
So I would have given them a bounty yes, but less than the million and mix it up with things that they family could benefit from too.  Things like free medical for they family for 5 yrs, deferred full scholarships for their children when they come of age...or anybody they nominate to benefit from things like that.  Free flights on the national airline for a time.  Free entry to all football games for life.  Do things so that their names will live on...so when we grandchildren ask us "why they name that buidling Yorke Towers ?"  we could say because he was the capt of the first (hopefully not only) T&T team to make the WC in 2006...we used to call them the Soca Warriors (wiping the tears from our eyes).

You see when yuh look at the WHOLE picture, we really rewarding the fellas for making it to the WC, which is the best accomplishment ever.  The performance in the WC was beyond expectations because we never see the team play so before...I hope they continue to play so....but the results were ordinary by world standards.  Off course we do better than plenty other so called big teams.

My concern is that there were other performances that should have been recognised in the past and were not.  The NATIONAL cricket team just months ago won the regional titles...both one-day and first class.  That was after a drought of more than 20 yrs in the wilderness, and NOBODY came to meet them in the airport.  No bounty was bestowed on them, even though is only regional and not a world event.  George Bovel, first medal for swimming in the olympics. What Ato get ? Hasely Crawford just get a house the other day.  Only Lara really get tangible pips. But forget about the past.  What about the future ?  Will the team to make WC 2010 expect the same bounty or more after yuh consider inflation.  What about the Olympic teams of the future ?

As some of you mention, just putting on the jersey and representing mih country woulda be thanks enough.

As for the talk about bringing the country together like no other politicians before....that is a bunch of BS as far as I am concern.  Because the same day we play Paraguay...man was getting gun down in town and a couple people get chop up for one reason or the other.   UNC still fighting with PNM, and UNC still fighting in between deyself too.  Indian and African still behavin like the country is dem own alone.  What dey should say is that for a period in time everybody shared a common interest in wanting the warriors to win dey matches.

But the performances did insprire pride in all of us, and the PM put it nice too in that a lot of benefits came from the off-de-field antics rather than on-de-field preformances.  Let we hope the stadium could be even half full for the next warrior game...otherwise you woud see how much waggonist it have in this country.

 :applause: :applause:

You made alot of sense here

I did not think the guys were shafted cause I remebered about their club salaries and already existing real estate did not think about other alternatives. But the Prime Minister did speak with Yorke after he consulted with the team to find out about what the team wanted. Didn't he???

If that were true that just goes to show what we as a ppl value more.

Steupes.  A setta flikkin sentimental people on dis board.  Why not give Scott Sealey a flikkin medal too?  He was on de squad before.  How bout Rougier?  Ent he was trainin wit de squad?  If was allyuh money allyuh was givin out....matter of fact..come to tink bout it...it IS alyuh money dat givin out....when budget time come and yuh have to pay extra fuh dis and dat....remember who yuh call for to get more money and medal.

People askin wha Wolfe and Atiba Charles do?  Dem was on de flikkin squad.  Because dey eh play a minute doh mean nutting.

Yes...I find Spann should get some recognition but to try and tear down others like Wolfe and Atiba to big up Spann is assness of de highest order.

Why stop dey?  Might as well give Derek flikkin King a medal too.  Ent he was on de squad too at a time?

Steupes.

Okay so no way am I asking for more money for the man.

Read the post properly.

I am asking for a simple thankyou from the Government cause in MY OPINION i think that he deserves a medal.

WHO am I to think that he deserves a medal??

I am a tax paying Citizen of this Country and I have the right to say that the man was over looked.

In no way shape or form am I being sentimental or bringing down the efforts made by Atiba Charles or Anthony Wolfe. I play sports too and know how important a bench is.

I was simply making a refrennce and trying to draw a comparisson.

However to compare Sealy with Spann is totally diferrent the guy was picked for the side, he was in Germany and got injured while training for the tournament.

My point is I THINK that we as a nation sometimes forget the ppl that do us proud.  And to see a good young man being forgotten and left out is really sad.

I am setimental? Sometimes ppl could be forgetful and heartless .

Lets show the youths, cause Spann is one of the youngest players chosen to be on the team, that their National service does not go in vain. Not just because they got injured.

Note Rougier was shortlisted and eventually cut.  Get my point nah ppl. I am not trying to belittle other ppls achievements. My post is about one player and one alone whose situatiuon is different from the rest. Spann noone else. Just him.

It was really sad to see that Spann was not included in the 24 players that were called up on stage to collect their Chaconia medal Gold.

It was even more disheartening to see that they left the poor fella sitting by himself only to be called up after the crowd behind him started shouting his name.

Okay I haven't been on the board for some time but I was trying to avoid negative vibes and what not associated with the team so I do not know if anyone posted anything about the fact that direct TV had to sponsor Spann to stay in Germany.

What did Atiba Charles and Anthony Wolfe do to deserve those medals?????? Note this is a genuine question, I really want to know.

How could you leave out the poor guy just because he got injured right before the tournament and after he did so much to help in qualifiers

Are you to tell me Honorable Prime Minister that you could not find it in your heart to give the man a Chaconia medal Bronze even.

I am not talking about the money here my beef is recognition and a simple thankyou for all the hard work that the guy put in.

It was in poor  taste that they wanted to send him home, I applaud the fact that they included him in the motorcade on Saturday but it was a disgrace to see that they for got him on the chairs.

Only to be called up after the crowd started chanting.

Is it that the Government could not give another award for a guy who did not play in the tournament due to the fact that he was injured.

Or are we dealing with a bunch of waggonists who just received a bunch of names from TTFF saying these were the ppl who went to Germany.

Can Mr. Manning pick Ian Cox or Anthony Wolfe out of a crowd.

Mr. Manning neede to step up, Roger Boynes needed to step up even his Captain needed to step up. Spann you have enough class not to defend yourself or fight for something that might be rightfully yours but who will fight for you ?

Besides I could name  a few players that did not give 100% that have my tax money and my national medal. Let me make it perfectly clear I have no problem with the gifts, my point is having given them after the Bahrain game, like he was supposed to, would they have gotten National medals??????

And would Spann have gotten one?????

Touches boy I agree. I tried my best not to send out positive vibes about Stern for the whole week. The breeze carboard Stern still in one piece. :)

I do not think we should bring him on as a sub. Leave him in. He wants it, besides he is a good distraction for when glen is on the field. the defense wiil have two to worry about and most likely they might be too preoccupied with Stern cause of his record and what not and Glen might score a goal.

I do not believe that we should play with only him up front though. That jus not cutting it.

He set himself up for that red card
His second tackle was clean he got the ball first but he already had a first caution, that tackle was brutal even though it was clean
doh let me morph into truetrini
ya talkin WORLD CLASS shit
after the game they showed the tackle PLAY over and over again and it CLEARLY showed Avery getting to the BALL first. Dat swede should be given an Oscar.
If you watch the Ref was behind Avery, so he could NEVER have seen that.

FIFA has givena directive to stamp out two footed lunges. Weel-timed or not it was a yellow card offence. The fact that the ref cannot always see contact is more reason to be more controlled in tackling. When your body is thrown forward feet first your control is limited. What if the player shifted the ball and Avery missed it and hit him instead? Wouldn't it have been a vicious foul?

That is why FIFA is trying to stop it just like the tackle form behind before it, which can be executed successfully but is still dangerous.

Kool thanks for clearing that up for us.

There are alot of new rules that they implemeted for the tournament and it is really sad that Avery will miss the England game.  :(

now stern has been huge for us when needed..... and i am not lashing out against him...but as a striker his work rate is poor.....and he does not run at the defence to threaten dem in anyway, he simply waits for the ball to be at his convenience to decide to play....now against the teams we are facing wud it be more sensible to start with Kenwyne or Cornell or scotty even who young fresh andwill run at the defenceand also work fuh d ball......

wah yal;l; thuink?

I liked how you put it basically I agree with you. ;)

I have been called negative a Stern hater and some other things on this site and elsewhere but this is my point.

The man has an incredible record. Yes it may be because he plays every game but he only gives 55% Imagine how good the man will be and how much less aspirin I will have to take if he even gives 80%.

All I ask of the man is to give more. Run more complain less. And he will reach greatness we as a team will be great.

In the Bahrain game in Bahrain was the first time I actually saw Stern run down the ball and reach past the halfway line he actually was playing defence. Honestly all knocks aside he didn't score in that game but I was happy with his performance cause he gave 100% he ran after everything I almost cried.

I will be silly to think that a striker is supposed to score in every match, but at this level you should not be consistently missing the easy goals.

Anyway we have a few more days to go so I going to give Stern a rest, stop watching the cardboard cutout of him in hilo cross and stop planning to tip it over in frustration and mind you is not frustration over the fact that I do not like the man. Like has nothing to do with it but he could work harder. It is time we stop settling. I am frustrated because I believe in my team and as a result I believe in him.

Good Luck to all the warriors out there God bless and give 200% ;D ;D

Okay So I did not tape it and I wish I could have been there but for yet aaanother night I have worked late but we were well represented.

We got a whole hour, Patriot, Oconnorg, kanditt, Girlwarrior, and a Lady named Joan. did the interviews.

Basically it was a whole hour about the Warrior NAtion what we hope to accomplish, our expectations from the team and questions about how we show our support. We even gave away a T shirt.

I am especially proud of the feamale warriors cause they supported us well. Showed that we women know more about T & T football than just the fact that Birchall is a hottie.  :-\  Really wished I could have been there but next time I guess.

Another aspect that oconnorg placed emphasis on is the fact that we are non profit and that we are a charitable organisation cause ppl we have some programmes in the works.

Alot of people really don't believe that we run from donations and that noone makes a profit from the Warrior NAtion.

Wait that is not exactly true. The team profits, the country prfits, soon the youths of the nation will profit. We might be poor afterwards but it is for a good cause.  :)

Anyway it was a good interview and I am happy to see that the entire show was about us which shows that we are getting more respect out there.

To Patriot, Andre and all the other forumites that are making the journey across have a safe trip and enjoy yourselves. Wish I could be there but.....  :'(

History on the shoes: - EACh shoe was literally GIVEN to him by the players in question as they came off the field... Latapy is he real good "pally wally".. so who exploiting who... In any event, he was saying how we can call him later inthe week and we do up some contractual agreement and start a fresh... mind you ALL this so we can take some pic tures of the exhibit, give him free advertising and credits on OUR sites eh... Needless to say I am not interested in having much future dealings with the individual in question...

IMAGINE, suchs greats like Lincoln Philips , Brian Williams, Gally Cummmings, freeely without issue brought lots of stuff to the exhibit.

FIFA send stuff from their head quaters for the exhibit. The exhibit seeks to give everyone a sense of national pride and Bring back LOTS os emotional memories to those who remember the good ole days, and here is this " dude" trying to exploit..

WHILE we love and cherish and whish to showcase the warriors with love and passion, here is this GUY who got all his possesions freely trying to exploit them.. Such a shame..

I will however statethis,..The exhibit is beautiful, and I personally value the entire exhibit at just over $500 000.00. Also, aparently the showcase is supposed to be on tour.

Geeee.. I wonder what will happen if some school child grabs one of latas shoes and bolts ?.. hmmmmm

I real fed up of all these stupid ppl trying to make some money of the football team. Where were all these ppl when we were losing, no where, now everyone want to make money off the team. Your friend give you these boots, not to make money off of of but as a gesture. So what I could charge money for my autograph of a famous trini on this site???

STEUPS it is a National EXHIBIT in the Library. >:(

Andre boy I think you could make some money too charge ppl admission to see the villa jersey.

All of a sudden everyone wants to have a party/fete with part proceeds going to the warriors what 2 % where were all these ppl when we couldn't pay Beenieman. STEUPS we real shameful.

Cents of NAtional pride!!! steups man

Wow this is really scary, it might not be naivety but the fact that sometimes a group of girls go out together and before you go into a club you almost always check your makeup or put on shoes. I have been in cars full of girls in many carparks going to fetes, clubs, and parties where we have done this.

Never really thought about someone doing that, seriously that was a  serious reality slap. It real sad though.   :-\

Thanks for making me aware of this and I will do my best to make my friends aware also.
