Once again, the Japanese showed his class. Came on and changed the game. Too little too late for the change though. A lot of opportunities were created via the Japanese. 3-2 final score. This SHIT Guatemalan team comes into Trinidad and walks away with 3 points.

I heard from a reliable source that they kick the Japanese out of the starting line up. Not to mention, blame him for the lost against Columbus Crew (CC).

Word is, King tell Tinto and Kerry that they had a great game against CC.

Well yes!  :rotfl:

The japanese guy, to be honest,  did not have a good game as he normaly do. But the team on the the whole sucked that night. I like Kerry and Tinto, but they were below par. The blame must be spread accross the board.

I agree, the Japanese did not look as solid as he usually does. But, to blame him game in game out for his efforts (who is the most consistent player on the team) is a slap in the face.

King is scared of certain players on the JP team. The players that deserves to be yelled at and call out for their lack of effort after games etc, he don't say a word to them. OR, say only positive things. UNACCEPTABLE.

Enzo would not be a legend like his father. He may not even be a great player, maybe ONLY good. In my humble opinion of course. Why?......

I think he is in the spot light way too early. I don't think he will be able to handle the pressure. Let's wait and see.

« on: August 06, 2010, 08:32:53 PM »
So I have been looking at some of the CFU and Concacaf games and was very impressed with Yu.

I don't know what brought Yu Hoshide to T & T Pro-League or who brought him, but THANK GOD he is on that Joe Public team. He makes the world of a difference.

He is hands down the best midfielder in the pro league. He is smooth like baby bottom on the ball and makes top class decisions. His presence on the field is huge. He will always find a pass that will lead to another pass and then a goal or set it up himself. Not to mention how deadly he is on set pieces.

Any more Japanese to Trinidad? The league needs them.

Thank god for the Yu on that Joe Public team. He seem like the ONLY player that can connect his passes. Trent and company give away the ball far too many times (especially being midfielders). Anyways, way to come back and earn yourself a point after conceding two VERY poor goals.

« on: May 10, 2010, 11:25:33 AM »
Last Saturday Trinidad and Tobago played a qualifier in the Copa NYC against Uruguay. A tnt eleven was named based in NYC and i played in the game trying to make it into the cup. Uruguay was a good team, making runs off the ball, but in the second half a brawl ensued. Big just like the Jabloteh fight, maybe even bigger. Fans of both teams got involved and ambulance and police came right after. It was caught on tape and should be on the internet by someone soon.

Disgrace cause the TnT players started the fight and beat one old Uruguay coach to the ground. Embarrassment because Espn caught it on camera and Trinis are going to look like animals.

Where all this happen? In Brooklyn or Queens?

Why would you sell your best player and you have the concacaf league to compete in, just match his pay and keep him, its not like JP is a poor team.

Jack Warner needs some money trasfer before Kerry contract finish.

I could understand if it was in Europe where the league and money is better.

But Toronto !!

Well Sam, more talks reveal that he (Kerry) putting that Toronto F.C thing on hold because he wants to go back to England.

Football / Demmin attempts record

Demmin Helping Kids
All League defender to break Guinness World Record

CLINTON, MS - Dwyane Demmin has long been regarded as a great soccer player, and a great coach. He has competed at the highest level of soccer by playing for his home country of Trinidad and Tobago. Demmin has also played the last three seasons for Mississippi Brilla FC in the Premier Development League, earning All-League and All-Conference honors. He is also the current boy’s soccer coach at St. Joe Catholic High School in Madison, MS. He has led the Bruins to six of the last nine Mississippi State Championships and has earned the MHSAA Coach of the year honors on multiple occasions.

DemminOn May 1 Demmin will unify the soccer community through “Kids Helping Kids”. All proceeds of the event will go to benefit the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson, MS.

“Every day hundreds of kids are able to be involved in the game of soccer,” said Demmin. “We are blessed to be able to play, and to participate in this great sport. However, not too far down the road from us, many children are battling very hard in something far more important than the game of soccer…they are battling in the game of life.”

The event will focus on Demmin taking on the entire state in a juggling competition. For the past several months, Demmin has collected juggling records from youth soccer players all across Mississippi. On Saturday, May 1, Demmin will attempt to beat the state’s combined total of juggles. After beating the state’s score, he will continue juggling in an attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records of juggling for 24 hours straight.

The current record holder, Dan Magness from the United Kingdom, will be on hand for the event. Joining Magness at the event to entertain through freestyle juggling will be Charlotte Lade from Norway. Lade currently holds the record for the most Around the Worlds by a female.

There will also be a 3v3 tournament during the event. The tournament will be a qualifier for Walt Disney World’s National 3v3 tournament held in August.

And dis is who allyuh want to be we national team coach?  ::)

When I saw it, the first thing I said to myself is "WTH?"

After watching it over and over, I cannot say I would have accepted that. My initial reaction might have been to retaliate?

However, I have seen coaches hit players many times at HIGHER levels for the exact same reason (silly red cards). I also remember watching a EPL game and a player got sent off for a dumb retaliation. The captain ran up to him and clout the red carded player (I will try to find the highlight on Youtube).

Does that mean that they are right? Absolutely NOT. I am just saying these things happen all the time. Maybe the 1st time you saw it?

I was shocked but not surprised. I myself don't know how I would have reacted. Maybe after in the locker room? I don't know?

It is really something to think about.

Football / Corneal says NO to Latapy
« on: February 06, 2010, 10:49:02 PM »
Corneal says no to Latapy as T&T coach
BRIDGETOWN

Outstanding former Trinidad and Tobago player Alvin Corneal believes Russell Latapy is not properly qualified as a coach and should not be reappointed to lead the Soca Warriors.

Corneal, himself a former national coach, argued 41-year-old Latapy was not equipped for the position and should not have been chosen on the basis that he was a successful player.

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) are currently mulling over whether to reappoint Latapy as national coach, after the country’s failed 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign under his watch.

’It’s not personal really, Latas (Latapy) does not have a history of coaching, he’s never been to a coaching course. It is not true to believe that because you’re a good player, you become a good coach,’ Corneal told CMC Sports while in Barbados recently to conduct a FIFA coaching course.

’If you doubt me, ask Roy Keane, ask Paul Ince, ask Johnny Barnes, ask so many of the guys who have failed these guys have gone into it because they felt they were good players, they found out that they were wrong and it can’t work. This is the case with Russell as well.’

Latapy took over from the embattled Colombian Francisco Maturana last April after T&T stumbled their way to a 2-2 draw against El Salvador, a 1-1 stalemate with Honduras and a heavy 3-0 defeat to the United States.

The former national star, known affectionately as ’Little Magician’, fared little better at the helm, winning just one game while losing five and drawing one as T&T finished bottom of the six-team standings with six points.

Latapy, who previously represented Scottish Premiership side Falkirk as player/coach, was expected to sit down with the TTFF to discuss his future with the squad.

’A lot of people think that he has been coaching. He’s been a player/coach for Falkirk [but] look where they are, down second to last in the Scottish tables,’ said Corneal, who was capped 119 times for T&T in a career that yielded 69 goals.

’I was not an advocate of it (Latapy’s appointment) [then], I’m not now. I like Russell as a person, he’s a wonderful guy and he would have been one of the guys that every time we have a youth national team going out I would send him as an ambassador simply because he’s got the image, the kids adore him and he would be better put to service in that way.’

Latapy has had a decorated career as a player, representing Portuguese giants Porto and big Scottish clubs Glasgow Rangers and Hibernian with success.

One of the most talented players to come out of Trinidad and Tobago, Latapy was part of the squad which made their historic debut at the FIFA World Cup in Germany four years ago.

The 72-year-old Corneal contended that in selecting the new coach, authorities needed to take a measured, rational approach.

’I am saying if you want to select a coach, select him how you select somebody that you’re going to employ, put him on that test,’ Corneal advanced.

’Let’s see the practical side of him, let’s see the theoretical side of him, let’s see the human psychology side of him, let’s see how he’s going to perform.

’You do not select him on the basis that he was a good player, you select him on the basis that he’s qualified and we have a number of young coaches that could really be qualified to be coaches.’

He added: ’They may not be great in the first instance but we have four years so if you put them in the fray now and give them exposure all the time you may just about find a coach.’

Joe Public offer all their players $1000TT increase to their already existing salary for 2010.

So players who made $3000TT in 2009 will make $4000TT in 2010.

Of course players would leave. Joe Public need to keep all their key players and Figueroa is one of them.

Did I say sign him because he is a trini? I hope that was a misinterpretation yes. Please tell me so? lol

Otherwise, maybe it's your mentality that you need to check?  ;D Cause you stating something I did not imply smh lol

I thought David Williams said he is committed to the youths? Why not sign a younger Trinidadian?

W Connection full of shit!

Toussaint is a National team player that W Connection should have kept within the team; for more reasons than one. Instead, they opt to renew Elijah Joseph contract (a washed up St Lucian). I thought David Williams said he is committed to the youths? Why not sign a younger Trinidadian?

I really hope they did not offer him a new contract because his injury was a career ending injury AND/OR he was indiscipline? Otherwise, it goes to show David, you ain't nothing but a cocksucker!

Joe Public lifts 2009 FA Trophy in dramatic style.
By: Randi Bando (ttproleague).

Bmobile Joe Public continued their scintillating season with a dramatic 3-2 victory over W Connection to win the 2009 FA Trophy on Wednesday night at the Marvin Lee Stadium.

Substitute Conrad Smith netted the winner in the 117th minute, after a W Connection own-goal in the 90th minute tied the match at 2-2 forcing the extra-time.

The FA Trophy is the fourth title won by Joe Public this season, following the Digicel Pro League, Big Six and Toyota Classic titles. The Derek King coached Lions could make it five later this week when they tackle Caledonia AIA of Morvant/Laventille in the Final of the Digicel Pro Bowl from 8pm at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Hopefully Friday's Pro Bowl Final against the defending champs Caledonia wouldn't be as tough as Wednesday's FA final against W Connection for the Lions.

Joe Public had an early 1-0 advantage when leading goalscorer Kerry Baptiste notched his 48th club item this season in the 15th minute beating Jan Michael Williams.

However Connection were back on level terms, and proving to be the perfect opponent on Wednesday after Clyde Leon netted past Alejandro Figueroa in the 37th minute for a 1-1 score.

Connection's continued pressure on the Lions paid off in the 80th minute when left wingback Joevin Jones whipped in a cross finding an unmarked Matthew Bartholomew who headed past Figueroa for a 2-1 advantage from the six yard.

Then came the kudos for the 29 yearold Joe Public rookie coach Derek King when late additions Gorean Highley and Conrod Smith stole the match from under Connection.

Joe Public levelled the scores 2-2 in the in the 90th minute thanks to an own goal by Edar Gilmar Aras who's diving header to clear substitute Gorean Highley's powerful cross, directed the ball into Jan Michael Williams' far netting sending the match into extratime--which is normal whenever Joe Public and Connection meet in a FA Final.

Four minutes inside extra time Trent Noel was denied by a brilliant save from Williams after unleashing a powerful leftfooted strike from the left as the two teams battled on.

In the 108th minute Connection's Andrei Pacheco had a clear sight at goal but failed beat Figueroa who made an excellent blockout.

Public then registered the winner through substitute Conrod Smith in the 117th minute who scored a spectacular goal netted into the far netting after pulling wide of two defenders to hook a shot beating Williams for a 3-2 victory, and the FA Trophy.

Joe Public 3-2 W Connection
Kerry Baptiste 15', Eder Gilmar Aras 90' (own goal), Conrad Smith 117' ; Clyde Leon 37', Matthew Bartholomew 80'

Joe Public--Alejandro Figueroa, Kerry Baptiste (capt.), Carlyle Mitchell, Seon Power, Keion Goodridge, Kareem Young (Gorean Highley 83rd), Jean Luc Rochford, Yu Hoshide, Trent Noel, Micah Lewis, Hayden Tinto.

Coach--Derek King.

W Connection--Jan Michael Williams, Elijah Joseph (capt.), Hughton Hector, Eder Gilmar Aras, Clyde Leon, Jonathan Frias (Igor Santos 90th+), Nickolson Thomas, Matthew Bartholomew (Andrei Pacheco), Christian Viveros, Joevin Jones, Gerard Williams.

Coach--Stuart Charles Fevrier.

unfortunately, I don't have any good contacts there anymore.

I had signed up my kids for AYSO soccer at Marine Park right before we moved away, but that's more a rec league than a competitive, development type. There are numerous other AYSO regions in Brooklyn.

Thanks E-man

Their is a lot of football in Brooklyn

Several AYSO teams etc etc

Caton Park in Brooklyn (Near Propect Park) has organized soccer every weekend in Brooklyn, several teams club and leagues playing.

At a more competitive level you have teams like Brooklyn Knights that have "Academy teams"

For the caribbean groups their is football at Boys High high school.

Their are currently a lot of teams in Brooklyn but their is still a lot of room if you have the time and dedication to start a program.
Most of the teams are based on ethinic lines.
The biggest issue would be organizing the fields

As resources are limited their is plenty competition as not many fields are available.

But it is growing , 10 years ago all the fields were dirt patches now they are all turf.

their is even an ODP program but it is based in Queens/ Long Island but they scout players from brooklyn as well.

Ok, so based on what you told me thus here getting access to fields is the biggest issue?

I have experience in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League. We formed a team back in the 90's when I was living there and got our company to sponsor us. They run quite a few divisions.

Thanks, although this may be helpful in some way or the other the focus is more on player ages 5-15/17.

After taking a look at the website, I recognized that it is more an adult league.
