She has a Pro License, has coached two National Teams and a men's professional team. She has a contract already and an assistant; Latapy also has a contract so make him an assistant and there you have a coach and staff!!!! get on with it and done with all the small talk and search committee shinanigans

The women's coach and her staff are assigned to coach all of the women's programs, from U-15 to Senior team. That's a lot of work, hence the big $$$$.

Walkes was making $10,000 USD per-month, but when you include housing and transportation costs thats where the 93,000 comes in.

I am wondering if DJW even took the time to assess, review, ask for a report of the work that Walkes has done since he got to Trinidad. It baffles me (hum not really) how they put the Assistant TD in the newly formed "Technical Committee" but yet release the TD from his position. It's very difficult for me to imagine that Walkes has been there for a year and DJW and his cronies don't know what he has been doing in the grassroots football arena. Japan and China using an American to develop their program at the grassroots level and we disrespecting our own! What a shame!!! and they expect people to seriously support T&T football? I hope that Hart is actively looking for another job, because they will soon disrespect him too!

The final pass and finish on the first goal is sufficient evidence that a proper investment in the women's game is necessary by the TTFA! This program at all levels U 17 , 20 and Senior with proper investment, resources and management has the potential to be consistently the third best team in CONCACAF over an extended period!

If we really think about it, here's a man who had a profound impact on putting two countries (Japan and the US) on the football map. Many of us have seen the consequences, of the seeds Cramer sowed, blossom before us. Just think about the achievement leaps made in both nations in the last three decades.

I had the opportunity to meet him and what an experience that was, very humble and inspiring personality.

T&T is not short on talented players like Levi Garcia, Neveal Hackshaw, Duane Muckette, Kadeem Corbin, Shannon Gomez, Alvin Jones, Aikim Andrews, Weslie John, Nathan Regis, Rundell Winchester, Hughtun Hector, Uriah Bentick, Trevin Caesar, Julius James, Andre Fortune, Jamal Gay, Kareem Moses and a possible Canadian-born goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh who has expressed deep interest to play for T&T, comes to mind.

YES! KW is quite capable and does have the experience and pedigree to do this job. Yes, a panel of top coaches would endorse him based on his background in the game; that depends on who you think the panel of top coaches are.

Weren't both players injured? So why they talking about ticket and not playing if they injured. If they are healthy and back to form, yes they should be included, however, stars with attitudes can disrupt TEAM chemistry and create more problems. Slippery slope indeed!

He play secondary school ball? 50 goals in less than 3 seasons is really kind of amazing. Do we have other college based strikers with those kinds of numbers? Tallman...whey yuh?

1. He played for Trinity East

2. Joel Bailey scored 92 goals during his time at Wheeling Jesuit University. In the 2000 season he scored 36.

You had to look it up or you knew it offhand?

I knew of some players who scored a lot of goals in College, but I had to look up the info to see if the numbers matched or exceeded Nathan Regis'. There is Keith Williams II who scored 65 goals at University of Maine at Fort Kent. I'm sure there are more.

This is a good discussion: Garth Pollanais scored 88 goals in 86 games in three years at Erskine college. In his senior year he scored 34 goals. Brian Haynes also played at Erskine and scored 61 goals in 3 years. We've had so many players excel in the US college game it would take a lot of work to find some of these stats.

you have to know someone, or be a past or current player to do it(when they sometimes list who took part in the course)

Amwood: I have some concerns about the objective of this interview especially considering the previous video you posted with the interview with the U-17 coach. The coach mentioned that the coaches responsible for developing players do not understand what is required to get the players to the level required for international competition, yet this player is wearing your academy shirt in this interview and speaking about the shortcomings of the team.I don't think it is fair to the player to give a perspective on what went wrong or could be better, then he cannot articulate his thoughts so you have to lead him to the answer.
Why do you choose to conduct the interview with your academy players training in the background? Seems a bit self serving to me! Do you work with your players on interview skills? What are you doing to address the issues that both the coach mentioned and this young man reiterated?

If you complaining about scoring goals but yet you playing with 10 midfelders then how you expect to score goals?

You went Jamaica with two strikers, one good one and the other you never saw play.

So when you have such a tin squad of strikers how can you cater for suspensions or injury as was the case with Corbin?

Then you consistently playing such a defensive formation, then how would you expect to score goals then?

As for the team being kept together, sorry, good idea, just dont hold your breath with the current admin.

I see and feel the passion in the post by Elan above. You wouldn't take the time to write all that if you did not mean it.
Players, I guess, are just a reflection of the general society. And T&T psyche is somewhat damaged. Therefore the "team" seems to be lacking that little something to big to beat regional rivals.
The uncharacteristic passion, like in Elan's notes, which you want to see in the team and fans, becomes so when the "exposure" changes. One suspects that Ekan has been exposed to "stuff" possibly based on a unique journey in travel or reading or mentoring.

Therefore we got to "expose" the youngsters if the society is not changing. Exposure entails special coaches, more practice and international games and trips abroad to see other cultures in action. Books to read. Plenty yield right there when we know the whole society cyah be moved and the stands stay empty as a reflection of complete apathy.
The most we could hope for is a wave of useful waving waggonists in the stands who wish to be part of de "action" when the players seem to succeed despite their handicaps and are on the verge of something big.
This under 20 side is very promising and just a bit more "exposure" and they would be making waves.

Point well taken and the coach can be the difference maker in this situation, the coach also lacks the "exposure" so he cannot affect the mentality of the players.

we needed  brent sam but he does not like to train king says thus he was dropped ...(funny thing jabloteh played him does he hate to train for them? ) the other striker ricardo john only seen the last 15-20 minutes of the jamaica game and he seemed out of it first ever international game for him...

Where is Dre Fortune? This player has shown the quality and ability to score goals and create goal scoring opportunities!

Right back Desevio Payne is currently in the first team of Dutch Eredivisie club AZ Alkmaar.

The 18-year-old Payne dressed for the club for the first time on the weekend but did not see action in the 1-1 draw with Vitesse. Payne is also eligible to play for Holland through his mother but he was born in South Carolina to a Trinidadian father Ashton Payne. This means he can also represent T&T.

However, the USA is keen to have Payne wear their colours while the player was also called up the Holland national Under-18 team recently.

While Payne would be a great acquisition for T&T, it seems the other two countries are leading the race based on the comments of the player and his father.

“I’ve thought a lot about it, and it would be an honour if I would be called by the United States,” Payne said. “It would be a big deal for me.”

His father insists that he is letting his son decide his future.

“It’s all about him,” Aston Payne said. “It’s not really about me. If he’s able to reach that level, I’m all for it. I’ll support him 100 per cent whether it’s Holland or the United States.”

The TTFA through its overseas scouts and contacts and under the guidance of head coach Stephen Hart and his staff will continue to explore the options of overseas-based players eligible of representing T&T both at the senior and youth level.

His father Ashton was a very talented player, I believe he played in Holland also after he graduated from college.

Jerren is fire. He went to Europe with Region III and scored some nice goals, and he scoring for Union on a regular basis. He tall (much taller than he father), fast like he father and can score.

Should be a great addition.

Soft though!  probably better suited for the U-17 team.

CK1. I am not dissing players from lower socio economic status. I am a product of that. In the past the high schools were the breeding ground for many of our players. But this can't work for us any more. The emphasis is on structured development of young players at the professional level, so that they can compete overseas. I am saying, for this to produce results, the individual pro clubs will have to have their own schools so that they can efficiently structure their practices to accommodate their education. The regular schools can't do that. What the clubs can do is have some kind of joint on-line high school that is properly supervised for their players. If clubs want the best out of the youths, they have to share the burden(expense) of  secondary education.

Deeks, not much will have to change. The clubs won't all need that. The kids will still be attending school and then after school they go to their clubs and train.

If you want to make it where the clubs have more access, they can work with a local school and have their  player transfer to that school. They can then work with the school to come up with a plan where they can train the players in the morning and then after school, so 2 times a day.

The Jr. Sec. model might be accommodating where the boys train at 9 am and then attend class for 3 periods in the morning shift, break for lunch, attend another 3 period with evening shift and train again.  Obviously this has to be refined.

But maybe this is what need to happen. Work with the schools.

Élan: that is the idea I was hoping to get across. My point is that they cannot keep doing things the same way and expect different results. I have a ton of practical solutions that can make this stuff work, but it can only work if people really want it to work. In fact, now we talking about having kids go to school in the local areas, so a top player say from Arima who attends CIC, he would not have to do that daily commute if he were aligned with NE Stars or which ever Pro league team is closest to his home. Deeks: I know you may argue that parents won't support the idea because they would rather have their child attend CIC than say Trinity East (old colonial prestige school mentality), but I talking about aspiring players who will be given the best opportunity to develop in the game. I could serve as a consultant and put a master plan together, and also do the parent education on the concept and overall benefits to the players. I can develop a program for the clubs and schools to help assist the academic and personal development of the players. What I struggle with is the lack of innovation in the approach to football as a whole and youth development in particular!

Well personal development has to be a concern when training young players - is there a way to "loan" them to their respective US Colleges?

The US college system is a whole different matter, yet it is a great place where many of our players can be exposed to personal development. Many US college athletic departments have programs that integrate personal development for their athletes known as the CHAMPS Life Skills Program. That said, they Pro League teams should have a structure/ system in place for these young players as well as for the pros to acquire the personal development training that you rightly point out as a concern.

I don't follow your point relative to the socio economic status of the players and the pursuit of academic scholarship opportunities. Every top player should be guided towards preparing academically for those possible opportunities. I can tell you of countless men from non well-to-do families who have been guided towards scholarships and have succeeded above and beyond. I say get the best players out of the SSFL, put them with a Pro League team that is geographically situated in the area where the attend school and have that as a separate league from the SSFL. Secondary schools will still have their teams, but won't have their respective top players. The quality of the SSFL may suffer a bit or other budding players may rise.

If they serious they could. Klinsman did it in the US. If you want to play in the USDA you cannot play HS. Choose one.

They could do it. But they will lose out. Until the clubs have proper acadamies that will educate these guys while they learn their skills, this would not fliy in TT.

I am also from the UK. The main reason i have applied for the role is to help sustain and grow football in the area, giving kids from grass roots the opportunity to play football and be coached to a high standard in turn providing the stars of tomorrow.

Welcome! So we have a lot of Trinis all over the place and on this board who can do those things as well, so what else will you bring to the table other than being from Europe? How familiar are you with the "Liming under a coconut tree culture" or "Carnival Mentality of the people", how about "Basic Punctuality...any time is Trini time"? What personal and professional sacrifices are you willing to make for the greater good of football in T&T? Are you personally financially sound to afford going without a pay check for months at a time? Were you aware that you would be interviewed on this forum?

WOW! Sad to hear this news, my condolences to the family. I met him a few years ago when his oldest son come to play at the university where I coached. Wonderful gentleman and great family. I also visited and had dinner at their home with the family in Toronto while on a recruiting trip.

Have smart coaches if you want smart players.

We are stuck or obsessed with the MNT. If you want smart players you have to turn away from the MNT and look to the youths.

At 24 Messi is a world star. At 30 we are still wanting to teach players movement off the ball. Sorry not gonna happen.

Hazard, Balo, Rooney, Neymar, Ronaldo, etc are/were being polished. We are still trying to teach 30 year old players. See anything wrong.


Players need to be coached at the young age to understand the game and how to operate within the game according to what they see. The game ask players questions and the players must be provide with the tools to assist them in answering these questions.
